Jose, the kind employee behind the counter, offered me a sample of chocolate of my choice. I decided to try a piece of the FrischSchoggi Dubai Milk Chocolate. It was delicious. I loved the crunch of the kataifi threads and the pistachio filling. I decided to buy a piece of the FrischSchoggi Dubai Milk Chocolate. I also decided to buy a few pieces of the mini mousses. I picked the orange chocolate for myself and the hazelnut for my husband. Jose boxed both mini mousses in a cute little box. I really appreciate the customer service I received from Jose. He took his time with me and answered several questions I had about the mini mousse chocolates. We tried our chocolates after dinner and they were so good. Always pass by this place in Valley Fair and finally stopped by. Delicious chocolate and amazing experience! There was someone giving out samples which lured me in. It was samples of their chocolate hazelnut which was delicious. The quality of the chocolate higher tier and you can taste it. You can also try samples of the other chocolates they have on display which is awesome. I tried their matcha dark and white chocolate fusion and it was so yummy. Perfect blend between the matcha and the chocolate flavors. You also can break the amount of chocolate that you want and it could even be as small as a sample size too. I believe the cost is by how much it weighs and the type of chocolate? I ended up getting the smaller pieces of the matcha chocolate and the hazelnut chocolate. It came out to be $11.47 for both the chocolates and I have attached a pic to show you. They nicely package it. I def recommend trying this place. The workers here are also very nice! I visited Läderach Chocolate in Westfield Valley Fair Santa Clara last Sunday and had a great time. This is easily some of the best-quality Swiss chocolate I've found in the Bay Area. I really appreciated how generous they were with samples, you can explore different flavors before deciding what to buy. I tried the hazelnut chocolate and loved it. They also had a wide variety to choose from, like Dubai chocolate, truffle milk, truffle caramel, and some nicely packaged gift sets with mixed flavors. Everything looked beautiful and tasted just as good. The quality really just... the best, and you can tell it's premium chocolate. You honestly can't go wrong here, whether to buy for yourself or choosing gift (and chocolate makes the best gifts). Went here on Thursday to buy some chocolate for the movies later on in the week and the number one attraction that made this a good experience with Michell behind the counter she was excellent, super friendly super cheery made you feel like she was happy that you were there and gave as many samples as you wanted. Within reason the chocolate is awesome. Gifted some Läderach and really enjoyed the creaminess and richness of these chocolates. I'm usually not a fan of white chocolate but these were delicious with the addition of almonds, pistachio, fresh orange peel and not too sweet. I have been trying to get my hands on the Dubai chocolate for a year now: I popped in this weekend not expecting them to have it but surprisingly they weren't sold out of it yet! I bought $6 worth to try. The milk chocolate outside was good. The pistachios filling was nice and crunchy and not too sweet. Good balance. The best I have tried. Unique Chocolate Experience! Visited this store at Westfield Valley Fair and I'm so glad I finally tried it! The concept is amazing - sample as many flavors as you want, then choose what you'd like to buy. I asked the staff for dark chocolate recommendations and tried Pralines, Le Noir Ecuador, and Truffles Dark. Also sampled their handcrafted chocolate slab sheets - to be honest, I don't remember all the names, but I tried the dark chocolate slab sheets with: - Rose petals: super dark, a bit bitter - Hazelnuts: ABSOLUTE FAVE! We ended up buying this one - Orange: okay, a bit sweet (more like milk chocolate) - Almonds: 2nd favorite after hazelnut Original location is in Switzerland, and the quality/taste is exceptional! The dark chocolate with hazelnuts slab we bought was incredibly flavorful and unique. You pay by weight, and ours came out to $20 (felt a bit pricey, but worth it)! I decided to try the hazelnut sample and the chocolate was amazing. I had to try few different flavors and even bought some mac with milk chocolate and strawberry. They sell chocolate bars by the pound- price was 60 odd/lb so not cheap but yummy! Personally I really love the dark chocolate with almonds and I buy $25 slabs of it all the time. That sounds like a lot until you realize the chocolate is over $50 per pound. I think it's worth it. The sample lady was rude. She was holding a tray of samples chocolate and she brushed off my hand as I was reaching for the samples. I felt like crap because she treated me like I'm from the streets. Kind of crazy there's a chocolate war going on in the middle of VF. Between sees, venche, and laderache all right next to each other. I personally really liked the expresso and their raspberry a LOT. Is it better than venche? It's different. Venche chocolate is way more rich - I think laderach has the more nuanced interesting and bolder flavors - especially interesting fruit flavors. read more

I have been wanting to try this place for a while. Unfortunately I did not get a "key" to the truffles I bought so I will need to refer to them by shape. Square chocolate: 4.5/5. The favorite for my wife and I. It had the strongest flavor and was really good. Round chocolates: 4/5. I got two of these, one spikey all over and one with a round shape at the top and bottom. Both were pretty good, but not as good as the square one. Champagne truffles: 3.5/5. Pretty good, but IMHO, not as good as Rechuitti. read more

I walked to counter and was helped by a super sweet girl named Karsten. She was so welcoming to the idea of having me try the flavors I wanted. She had such a warm and friendly demeanor, and was forthcoming about having me try ALL the flavors I was looking at. They'll rock your palate. Läderach is a Swiss chocolate purveyor with a smattering of US locations, one of which I happened to pass while walking through Valley Fair. After seeing the 4.7 Yelp rating, I vowed to turn back to peruse their offerings. Entering the store, I immediately noticed that they're colder than the rest of the mall. This is a sure sign of dedication to quality and the willingness to torture their employees, who didn't seem to be in the mood to offer samples (and I didn't realize that they offered them at the time). Instead, I simply browsed through shelves and cases of FrischSchoggi (slabs of chocolate mixed w/ nuts and other ingredients), pralines and truffles (the small chocolate candies w/ fillings), and tablets (pure chocolate rectangles). I can be a bit of a purist in some regards and decided that a tablet would be a shareable and reasonably affordable option. I went for the 70% Grand Cru Noir ($7.90) dark chocolate tablet made with Ecuadorian chocolate. It was a stunning display of complex, bitter and mildly sweet notes with some fruity notes. It can enhance red wines but easily stands alone. I'm glad that I didn't go overboard on their 80% tablet, but I'm sure some enthusiasts out there may find it interesting. I'll have to check out some more chocolatiers where I live to see if they can offer something close to what I tried from Läderach. If not, then I'll be pining for my next trip to a city with chocolate of this quality. read more

Stopped by the Laderach store at Valley Fair today and had a really good experience, thanks to Robert! He was chill, funny, and took his time to explain everything we asked without really rushing us. Our kids were with us, and he was really great with them, even gave them a hazelnut sample which made their day. Even though you could tell he was a bit tired, he still kept it together and handled the chaos of the store's chaotic line. Seriously, the line setup is a mess, so I've got to give 1 star for that.
