    Trying this place out. Hee

I've had a couple of samples of these delicious chocolates before, but I really enjoyed getting personalized service with this champagne box of chocolates, and both of the ladies behind the counter, seem to have a lot of knowledge about their chocolates and the production of how they were made. Since the kiosk is in the middle of the mall, I actually passed it by without looking for a storefront, but I did think it was odd. How the numbers on the kiosk showed only building numbers and not the Middle kiosk places. Lol I had to ask a gentleman from security where this particular storefront was, and I found it fairly easily after that. Lol I will definitely go back and get other chocolates and decadent desserts! I also like the unique flavors that this particular chocolate company had.

Yum! The chilled chocolates come with a little icebag to keep them cool til you get them home Beautiful packaging, hats off to the designer Royce is a kiosk on the first floor at the end of the mall closest to hwy 17. Staff was very friendly & provided a few tastings of various products... the bourbon chocolate was SO GOOD and tye chocolate bars are huge. We'll be back.

A friend introduced me to Royce a little while ago and j remembered the chocolate being absolutely divine. I visited the kiosk at Valley Fair Mall for the first time today. It's right across from the Bloomingdale's store and the entrance to the parking lot. D50 on the map, first floor. The chocolate is even better than I remember it! The hosts at the Kiosk were very friendly and let me sample a variety of chocolates before I purchased anything. 10/10 for customer service. I tried the Matcha with Sakura Alc which was satin smooth and delicious. I also tried the white chocolate and milk chocolate with roasted almonds. Everything was very smooth, had a rich flavor and just a delight!! I will definitely return for more of this soon. Since it's a kiosk, it doesn't have much of an ambiance, and it can get a bit busy but the advantage is that you can explore their products more easily. Totally helps when you are trying to make a decision in the end. Overall, great options and I really didn't mind the price tag. I'd say it's very well worth it! Would make for a delightful gift for anyone that enjoys chocolate.

Dan is the man. Felt like we were in Japan for a second with his service level. Explained calmly the chocolates that are available and offered some samples. Very knowledgeable and we were really impressed! Went home to try the samples and we will definitely be back to get the box. Thank you!

I regret not trying Royce' Chocolate during our trip to Japan so I had to try it back home! The matcha nama chocolate is so good! Not too sweet and pairs well with red wine if you're in to that! The nama chocolates have a short shelf and have to be refrigerated. Something to keep in mind if you are gifting this. I also picked up a Hokkaido variety box that we also paired with wine. Love that their chocolates aren't too sweet. You can sample chocolates if you ask but unfortunately their sample bar was closed when I came close to their closing hour. Keep in mind that this is not a store front but a kiosk on the first floor near Bloomingdale's.

While I was in California, I wanted to pick up some gifts to bring back home. I had heard very good things about Royce and decided to get that for a few friends. The closet retail location was inside the Westgate mall, on the 1st floor next to where the Polestar store was. They are a stand alone kiosk, with a fully display. They looked so good and beautifully packaged! Patrick helped me on my purchases and after telling him what I was looking for, we decided on the a few varieties. I ended up going with: two boxes of the matcha variety pack, two nama milk chocolate boxes, a box of nama strawberry milk, and a box of nama of mild milk chocolate. Patrick was so helpful and packaged it all for me! I highly recommend

This is the first time I had Royce chocolate or even Japanese chocolate. This location is closer to the Women's Macy's side in Valley Fair and just make a left once you exit the Macy's inside the mall and you will see the pop up stand. I didn't know what to expect since I read all the 1-4 stars reviews before coming regarding the customer service. My son and I got there around 4pm. Once my son and I reached the counter, the two staffs that were there looked at us as we approached and we checked the chocolates that were on display. After walking to the next side of the display which wasn't that long (15-30 seconds maybe), one of the staff asked if I had any questions regarding the chocolates. I appreciated that they didn't ask right away when I was browsing the first window of display so it gave me time to scan through the options. I told them this was my first time at Royce and they were very helpful and told us the different variety of chocolates that they offer and told us the different flavors. They even asked if we wanted to try some samples and of course my son and I agreed because we wanted to make sure we bought the right flavors for our likings. I think we tried 6 different types before we made our decision. I was telling the staff what I thought about each one and they were interested in what I had to say which was very welcoming. They also gave me their opinion on some as well. The first sample I tried was the potato chocolate. It had a good crispy crunch but for me I felt the flavor of the chocolate was lost due to the texture. I'm not sure if it's because I had a little small piece where there was more potato than chocolate. My son had the wafer sample which he put the whole thing in his mouth and didn't share half of it...smh. I had to ask him what he thought of it and he said it reminded him of a kit kat but a higher end. The staff heard me talk to my son regarding the sample and they gave me one of my own to try. After taking the bite, I noticed what he meant. The chocolate was very creamy and melts in my mouth while the wafers gave it a good crispy texture. The chocolate was not hard like a kit kat. We then tried the different version of Nama chocolates. The first one I tried was the white chocolate. It reminded me of a very high end vanilla bean ice cream. It was so rich and creamy and very soft. It just melts with flavor. I decided to try the seasonal Nama sample next. This season was cherry and they used the white chocolate for this. At first I tasted the vanilla bean ice cream and then the cherry bomb kicked it. It was enough to tell it was cherry and the vanilla taste dissipated but it was not sweet at all which was very surprising. I then moved to the dark chocolate Nama which had a hint of brandy. I am not a dark chocolate fan but I was impressed by it. It was not overly bitter and the brandy taste was hidden with a little hint of sweetness. I moved onto the macha Nama and I was not able to taste the match on my first try. It wasn't because the match flavor wasn't there, it was because the dark chocolate taste was still lingering on my taste bud. I had to wait a bit before I took the next final bite and I was able to taste the macha which was like green tea and a little earthy. The last one I tried was the milk chocolate champagne Nama flavor. That one hit the spot. It was creamy like the rest and had a refreshing taste at the end which was odd in a good way. I think this one reminded me of some of the Belgium and Switz chocolates I had in Europe from texture and flavor. I ended up getting 4 alcoholic Nama boxes total (1 milk chocolate, 1 macha, and 2 seasonal cherry). My favorite one had to be the seasonal cherry closely followed by the milk chocolate. The staffs told me that these Nama chocolates must be refrigerated due to the cream and milk which would melt if it is in room temperature. They also told me it had a shelf life of 30 days. I realize why they want it to be refrigerated since these cubes become very delicate quickly when you pick them up as you leave the box in the room while eating. They also pack these in an ice bag so it can be cold while going home. As I mentioned, these are very milky and creamy. If you are lactose like me, it will hit you but it's so good to not eat them. And if you do not know what flavors to get, don't be shy and just ask to try some of the samples. If you do try the samples, leave the dark chocolate as last and try the macha one first since the flavor of the macha is very faint. I highly recommend this place if you like chocolate that are not hard and not too sweet. It reminds me of the soft hard fudge if you know what I mean not like the lava cake fudge. These chocolate seem good to pair with cognac, whiskey, or wine so I might have to try it with a Hibiki and Kavalan later this week. I guess we were lucky when it came to customer service so the whole experience from beginning to end was enjoyable for my son and myself.

Chocolate wafers from Japan. Beautiful to look at and yummy. I would put it in the same category as Laderach which is on the second floor.

Sulbing is a Korean dessert café best known for bingsu, a shaved ice dessert made with an…read moreincredibly fine texture that feels closer to snow than traditional shaved ice. We walked into a clean, modern space with a casual café feel that works well for stopping by after a meal or meeting up with friends for something sweet. The shop focuses on creative variations of bingsu with toppings ranging from fruit to chocolate, matcha, and other dessert-inspired flavors, and the layout encourages lingering over a shared dessert rather than rushing through a quick stop. The biggest highlight is the texture of the shaved ice itself. The ice is extremely soft and light, melting quickly while still holding the flavors from the toppings and condensed milk. We ordered the Injeolmi Sulbing, which showcases the more traditional side with nutty flavors, and the combination of the fine ice, chewy rice cake, and nutty powder created a dessert that felt both refreshing and satisfying. The Tiramisu and Chocolate Brownie Sulbing turn it into a much more indulgent experience, with richer flavors that feel closer to a full dessert than a light treat. The presentation is impressive, with each bowl arriving looking carefully composed, and the layers of toppings are distributed well enough that you get a good mix in every spoonful. The portions are also a major part of the appeal. A single bingsu is easily shareable, making it a good choice for groups or anyone looking for a dessert to split after a meal. We found that sharing worked well, as the portion was generous enough to satisfy two people without feeling like we were missing out. Beyond bingsu, they also offer items like toast and other sweet treats, which give the menu more variety and make it a place you can visit even if you are not in the mood for shaved ice. The main thing to keep in mind is that the experience depends heavily on the flavor you choose. Some versions rely more on the toppings for their flavor, while others feel more balanced throughout. The presentation is impressive, but certain options may feel less satisfying if you expect every bite to have the same intensity as the first. The fruit-based versions, for example, rely on the freshness of the fruit to carry the dessert, while the chocolate and tiramisu versions have a more consistent richness from the base itself. Sulbing is a great spot for trying Korean-style shaved ice. The unique texture, large portions, and variety of flavors make it stand out from typical dessert shops, especially if you enjoy lighter desserts with creative toppings. The balance of refreshing and indulgent options across the menu gives you room to explore different styles on repeat visits, and the quality of the ingredients makes each bowl feel considered and well composed.

A pricey little box, but for this quality, it's to be expected. I sampled Vietnamese coffee and raspberry yuzu. I much preferred the tartness of the raspberry yuzu. I ended up getting a custom 6-piece box: raspberry yuzu (x2), rose water saffron (x2), and sesame praline (x2). The raspberry yuzu was extra yummy with the chocolate this time. The bitterness and tartness went well together. The sesame praline was interesting. The filling had a more crispy and gritty texture as a result from what appears to be sugar crystals. The sesame was nicely incorporated so that it wasn't overpowering. I really liked it. The rose water saffron was interesting. It definitely had floral and earthy notes. This is among their most popular flavors, but it just wasn't for me unfortunately. It slightly crossed the floral soap threshold for my taste buds.
