THE COST We got $20 off as a first time customer. Total bill for 4 bags of laundry was $125.44. We got $20 off on the first time customer discount. See attached invoice. It was about $2.25 per pound which is not bad compared to other wash and folds. ADDITIONAL BAG COST They returned our clean and folded laundry in reusable zipper bags. A cost of $12 for 2 bags. These bags have a clear pocket with our info for how we want to wash and fold our clothes for future pick ups. Our laundry bags were returned stuffed inside of the new bags FOLDED AND NICELY PACKED They returned our closed washed and neatly folded and delivered back with reusable laundry bags with zippers. This is a disappointing review to write, as I used to really like this business and the services they offer. Recently however, they have implemented a "daily limit of how much laundry we can handle" policy. I do understand the need to adapt as a business, my complaint isn't necessarily with their new policy but how they are handling customers now. I placed an order for pickup on a Monday evening, it was confirmed for pickup - nobody ever picked up the laundry. I also received no notification about a cancellation or anything. So, I placed another order for their next available pickup day on Thursday. Again, nobody ever picked up the laundry, and still no notification or communication of any kind about my order being cancelled. Thursday after giving up waiting I called the business during open hours and went to voicemail. I woke up to an email this morning explaining they had this new policy and that both orders were cancelled, and I was asked if I would I like to reschedule for another day. There was no text/email/phone call or communication of any kind that both orders were cancelled until I reached out to the business. It makes sense to me, that they could go two minutes out of their way and give me a call explaining that they had reached their daily limit, and offer me guaranteed pickup the next pickup day. Instead, I'm just supposed to sit around and wonder if they'll be able to do my pickup when they haven't the past two times? Meanwhile, I've got laundry backed up for a week now. (I know I know, first world problems.) If this business was better at communicating I would still be a customer. But as of right now I can't logically continue purchasing their services. I can't believe how having someone else wash and fold your laundry can save so much time and energy. Our washer and dryer were out of commission for awhile and I did not have the time to go down to the laundromat twice a week. I would rather spend that time with my family doing the things we love to do in the short amount of time we have together each week. Marin Wash and Fold popped up on Yelp and I am so glad that my washer and dryer were out of use or else I never would have found this amazing company. Easy to schedule through their app, you can state all your laundry and drying preferences and then you put out your bags of laundry to get picked up. Super easy return of the laundry and I loved that all I had to do was pull my clean clothes and sheets out of the bag and put them away. Very rude customer service after being a customer for years. On Tuesday I called to request a pick up for Wednesday. I was told they were short staffed and that a they *might* be able to do a pick up the following day. I asked, "how can I leave my laundry out if I don't know for certain there will be a pick up', and was assured I would get notifications first thing in the morning if I was going to be on the schedule. I had my bag ready to go but obviously do not want my clothes stolen, so with no email or text notification, which I had always received in the past, I assumed I was not on the schedule. I checked my AMEX in order to make a payment and found Marin Wash and Fold had charged me 20.00. I had no idea why. When I called to ask about it this morning, I was met with disinterest, skepticism even: "We will do an investigation", "We tried to do a pick up, your stuff wasn't there", "We will refund you after our investigation, depending on outcome". I was shocked. No apology, no validation, no offer for a new pick up. She was just unsympathetic. I told her I would call me CC to refute charges, that I was surprised by her reaction, that I had always received a text, email and even phone calls when we lived in gated property from the drivers. So they know they are short-staffed, its a holiday week, but they were quick to assume customers fault, even when we have worked with them for years. Time to find a new laundry service. read more

I'm beyond frustrated and at this point have chosen to terminate my account with MW&F. I started using their services almost 3 years ago to have my staffs uniform cleaned. The price was decent, the whites where sparkling, and for the most part, my pickups/deliveries ran like clock work . Then a few months ago, they send an email stating that they're scaling back due to poor staffing and that pricing would go up. That's when everything went left. My pickups were consistently being cancelled with no call, no email, no text NO COMMUNICATION AT ALL. And when they would pickup, the quality of cleanliness wasn't the same. I expressed my frustrations many times and customer service advised that I call or email them after I schedule online to ensure that my pickup will be prioritized which defeats the convenience of scheduling online in the first place. And that didn't help either. The lack of communication is so unprofessional and the customer service is lacking. I'm very disappointed in the direction this business has gone. read more

After my elder aunt used this service for three months, she had so many issues with late deliveries, receiving the wrong person's clothing and many other things along those lines. She kept at it, because she really believes in showing support for local businesses. But the worst of all, was the owner's harsh and unkind behavior. My aunt is the kind of person who everyone says is saintly with her patients and she is always extra forgiving and gentle with people. But the owner was so rude to her that he had her in tears. He was dismissive (just look at how he replies in these reviews, most aggressively) and honestly seemed to be very over this job. He has no heart in the business. Sad. Needless to say, we just went somewhere else where kindness was at the top of their list. That is not the case with this Marin Wash and Fold. I wish that more people deeply valued kindness. Our laundry got behind and I found this resource. So glad I did! they picked it up (all the sheets and towels that were piling up) and washed, folded and returned it in two days. I was able to have them use my own detergent which I prefer and everything came out great. I had no idea how to explain how I wanted things folded but the result was what I would have wished for anyway. They were also delivered divided up by person so all we had to do was put them away. We've used this service 1-2 times a month for the past year. It's pricier than the other services out there, but we usually had clean laundry, and items are delivered folded within a day or two. The reason for three stars is their poor customer service. The last time we used their service, they returned our clothes totally damp. Unfortunately, it was during our move to a new house, and we didn't check the bag for a few days, by which point the clothes were moldy. Because it was a larger load, we tried contacting their customer service for help, but kept getting a reply from their rep that "they're investigating" without acknowledging our issue or offering to resolve it. After following up for three weeks without any substantive response or resolution from Wash & Fold, we finally gave up and will be using another service from now on. read more

I have just suspended my account with MW&F after using the service for a little over a year. I have a laundry room at my apartment complex, but I am disabled and have become unable to get downstairs myself. Paying for the service was difficult since I am on SDI, but I had no other choice. At first, it was great, very convenient and a big help to me. My laundry was always folded very nicely. There were some sporadic issues with pick-ups or returns happening kind of late in the day, but that wasn't a big deal to me since I'm always home. But a few months ago, things started going downhill. They did send out an email explaining staffing issues and such, which I understood but it also felt a little weird, like the owner was blaming the character of the people they'd hired for the issues. It felt like throwing the employees under the bus, and of course it's possible that some of them just weren't up to the task, but that's not something you should be saying publicly. They increased the minimum charge plus added a surcharge for people living in Sonoma County, so with having pick-ups every other week, that meant I was now going to be paying around $100 a month, which felt exorbitant. But again, I didn't really have a choice. If it had only been the cost issue, that would've been fine. But their customer service also took a nosedive. The automated texts and emails letting me know when the driver would arrive started coming fairly sporadically. I often would only get a text from the driver saying "be there in ten minutes" or something, sometimes quite late into the evening. A handful of times, I would call customer service around 4 to find out if the driver was coming, and I would always be told "oh they're just finishing up the first list and you'll get the notification very soon" and it would either never come or take like two or three more hours, so that felt like I was being given BS. My last two return days sealed the decision to cancel. On May 11, I waited all day for the "driver will be there between X and Y" notification and it never came. I didn't want to call and be a nuisance (and get more BS) so I just kept waiting and waiting. I went to bed at 11:30pm with no laundry being returned. (Important note here is that I opened my door around 11pm to bring my trash can inside and the laundry bag was not there.) I figured maybe they had been short-staffed and just hadn't had time to make all the returns, but I was still annoyed because they should've contacted me to let me know. I decided to call first thing Friday morning. However, before doing so, on a whim I opened my door around 8:30am...and there was my laundry bag. Never got a notification, no idea what ungodly hour it was delivered. The problem is that I live in an enclosed apartment building (meaning it's not open-air like many around here, it's more like a hotel with all the doors off long indoor hallways) and there are a lot of units on each floor and a lot of people walking by...and people steal stuff! I've had packages stolen from my front door more than once. I would absolutely not put it past some people to steal my laundry. It was sheer luck that didn't happen. I emailed customer service to express my frustration, and one sentence of that email asked what time the laundry had been returned. The response I got was one line saying "it wasn't logged so we don't know what time it was returned" and that they were sorry about that but no apology for the actual problems, no promise to do better, nothing. I was honestly kind of taken aback at such an absurd response. I almost wanted to cancel at that point but I didn't. Then on the 25th, again I sat around with no notification. I called around 4 and was told they had 6 stops left on the first list, and I was the 3rd stop on the second one. She told me I'd get that arrival notification within probably an hour. 2.5 hours later, it hadn't come. I decided to try something and texted the person who had texted me on Tuesday letting me know they would be there to pick up soon. At around 6:45, they responded and said they were on the side of the road with a flat tire, waiting for assistance. They said they could either bring my laundry later or on Friday. I said if they could be here before 11 that would be fine. They finally dropped it off around 9pm (the tote bag smelled like cigarette smoke, BTW). The thing is...I was told at 4 to expect the notification in about an hour. The person told me at nearly 7 that they had a flat. Had they been waiting for AAA for two+ hours?? It just felt like more BS to me. This company provides a vital service, but it would be nice if they knew what the hell they were doing and actually put their customers first. I found a local dry cleaners that offers pick-up laundry service and will be using them now. I cannot recommend using MW&F. read more

On Monday I scheduled a pickup for today (Wednesday), got a confirming email Tuesday evening, put my laundry out for pickup early Wednesday, then at noon today received an email that they were unable to pick it up. I called and the best the rep could offer was to put me on the schedule tor Friday, but with no assurance that it would actually be picked up then. I'm a big fan and this is a great service. I consider this a small fee to pay to get my weekends back. Instead of matching kids's socks, we're hiking Mt. Tam getting our socks dirty. They had some operational hiccups this past spring and I was amazed at the effort put forth by the owner to communicate to his customers. Michael was calling and emailing customers to explain why something went wrong, accepting responsibility for the error, and telling the customer what he was doing to correct the situation. He then corrected the issue. I wish more businesses were as candid and transparent as MW&F. Michael quickly corrected the hiccups and the service has been excellent lately. I've started with MW&F a few months ago, and am very impressed. They follow my instructions to the letter, including where to pick-up/drop-off, and also have a very clear and functional way to do everything online, which is huge for me. Nice notifications for all steps of the process with good text/email/off options to control notification load. The quality of the wash and fold is excellent, and on par or better than other services I've used in Mt View and SF. Also nice selection of products to select from for wash and dry cycles. If you are like me, and are fortunate enough to be able to trade money for time, I recommend you give them a try. (In other words, it's expensive, but for me highly valuable and worth it.) read more

Others have mentioned that service has changed for them, i.e., their laundry stopped getting picked up, with no notice or communication the day of. My pick-up has been canceled three times in a row. I don't have enough work clothes to go for this long. Going back and reading the notice from February in detail - I understood that they might have taken longer to return items, but not that they would cancel so consistently, currently leaving my clothes out in the rainy wet weather. The email, which went to my spam folder, also says they are trying to limit their customer base to make the business sustainable. Apparently, that meant I would no longer be able to use the service that had been so reliable for the last three years. I have been a customer since March or April 2020. There have been only a few instances where I have been unhappy with the service. Once, my Laundry was delivered to someone with a similar name but was out of town, so it took about a week to get my clothes back. The business owner, Michael, called and helped me solve the issue. Besides price increases, I have been relatively happy until the last few weeks. I have depended on the service because I don't have a home washer and dryer and haven't been well enough to go to a laundromat. I would not recommend the business to anyone based on their current staffing and change in policy. I have signed up for a new service that might cost less in the long run. I feel like im always behind on laundry and having them come every week has helped so much! The first time I used there was a little incident and I had to wait longer to receive my clothes but I wasn't in a hurry so it didn't bother me. The only thing I would say is getting like an email or something of letting you know your price because they just charge your card and you never really know how much it's going to be because im guessing it's by weight. But I always see the charge for the card and then go add in that amount I wish I could get a heads up but other than that love this place and their service they offer. read more

I used the service for over a year. At first, it was very good and reliable. Approximately 6 months ago, the service experienced a severe decline. Scheduled pick-ups were missed by a day or more. Even worse, scheduled deliveries were missed by one or more days. I used the service because i travel a lot for business, and I need to know my clothes will be picked up and not left outside in the rain. Oftentimes I received no notice of any kind that the clothes would not be picked up. The failure to return clothes on the days scheduled was far worse, as I was left to travel with no clean clothes and had to actually buy replacements. I tried to resolve this with management, and I was only offered a $10.00 credit for future orders. Why would I submit a future order? read more

I've used this laundry service company for almost 2 years and until recently had great service. For the last 2-3 months, my laundry pickups were cancelled same day without any phone calls or text messages to notify me. My laundry was left sitting outside, often times getting wet from the recent rains. I would return home from work to find my laundry bag that was never picked up. For 3 weeks straight now they didnt pick up my scheduled service. Evidently they sent an email of the same day cancellation, which went to my spam folder. When I questioned this behavior and asked why they didn't call or text, they said it's because they can't send text messages. That is not true because I would regularly receive automated text messages confirming my pickup the day prior. I had an option to respond to the text if I needed to cancel. To make the matters worse, their customer service is not helpful at all. This service has been literally life changing for my husband and I. We live in an apartment with no washer/dryer and the complex's laundry rooms are a joke. Every Saturday was laundry day and my husband and I would haul everything down our 4 flights of stairs, spend pretty much the whole day sorting, washing, checking, folding. After all this we had to haul it all back up the stairs (don't even get me started on how frustrating it is to try and air-dry delicate fabrics in a public laundromat). Ever since we started using Marin Wash & Fold our Saturdays are free to actually go out & have fun rather than languishing in a laundromat. It doesn't even cost much more that doing it all ourselves at the coin-op machines. I never thought I would be able to afford a service like this. They come get everything from outside my door, they wash everything to my exact, customizable specifications, and then they bring it back a couple days later. Everything is neatly folded and lovingly bundled up when we get it back... just like a pretty little present :) We actually get kinda misty-eyed sometimes when we get our laundry back because they'll do these very tiny little details that they really don't have to do but it's very sweet and thoughtful of them. Like for example they will carefully separate my husband's clothing from mine to make it easier to put away, even though never asked them to do this and we gave it all to them in one big, chaotic lump. Last week I put a little note on my laundry them if there was a way to avoid the clear plastic bags they were bundling our laundry in, because my family and I try to avoid plastic whenever possible. I was expecting to get some gentle form of "no, we don't do that". Instead they sent me this very thoughtfully written letter back explaining the many options/different ways they would comply with my request. I'll attach the letter if I can. They also included a little mesh bag to help me keep sorted without the plastic. Customer service is my livelyhood so I like to think of myself as an expert in this area. As I said in my previous review, initially Marin Wash and Fold was a godsend. Getting anything done these days without a hitch has been virtually impossible. But this company really took that weight off my shoulders. Until recently I had been very happy with the service. In the last month Marin Wash and Fold has debited my bank account around 8 times due to their issues in their billing department. The majority of those debits were pending and then eventually fell off. While I was extremely unhappy to find that many of those times my account would show overdrawn putting my family in a bind in already tough times, I was willing to try and understand that this pandemic has taken a toll on families and small businesses alike. The part that really upset me was the carelessness and lack of customer service I received once this issue was brought to their attention. I asked for a resolve or some sort of idea BEFORE my account was debited more than once in a single day. Not a single apology or sincere conversation was given. There was no explanation of why or courtesy for myself as a paying customer to find out if taking money out of my account in these quantities was okay. I am livid!!! I canceled my service and am thoroughly disappointed in the company's management and dishonesty. I have no problem paying what was due but your inability to run your business in a way that makes sense for your customers was also not my problem. A polite conversation saying - "hey loyal customer we missed billing a couple times we would like to spread it out over the next few bills. Please let us know if you need to make other arrangements we'd be happy to assist you" would have meant the difference of being able to afford my bills and now - not being able to. I just couldn't understand why and how I'm doing so much laundry! It was like this for me "wash-3 day turnout, fold and taken to proper places-3 weeks." Then I started getting notices from the company that they were short staffed, their prices are increasing, their pick ups and drop offs were decreasing. And that was fine. The whole economy has been up and down. Especially in California. But then they started missing pick ups. Then I got the notice finally that they're stopping service to my area in five days. I thought I'd go ahead and schedule one last pick up. The process is completely automated through their excellently-designed app. With reminders and auto billing, and an extensive list of preference options including many "free and clear" choices in addition to the excellent, old-school brands like Tide and Downy. From ordering to pickup and delivery I get to feel like queen for a day when my old white sheets and towels come back looking and smelling like new -- bright white, fresh, and perfectly folded! Where are my clothes? Why won't anyone call or text me and update me? I deserve an update considering I am paying for your services and it seems like my clothes that were put into your care are lost? This company has been a life saver for me. I am saving 4-6 hours every week, gas, time and energy and have less stress, angst and frustration. For me this is a no-brainer. I have three kids and sent 170 pounds of dirty laundry to these guys. They washed everything perfectly and hung my jeans and shirts and folded all of our clothes so perfectly. They are all so soft I swear my colors have never been more vibrant lol. It was worth every penny spent for their service.
