Noelle's Yelp Notebook 2024 Post Pandemic Chronicles Marina Food is located in Cupertino not far from Apple Park, Donut Wheel and One Infinite Loop. I've never been to this grocery store before. While it's a Chinese grocery store you will find American brands like Clover Milk, Kraft. They also have Korean, Filipino, Japanese snacks and food items. Their snack section is mind blowing as there seems to be a limitless selection and this also applies to their candy and tea section as well. Upon entering the store one will find the latest and greatest Chinese candies, cakes and other snacks. I feel weak and want to buy it all, definitely my kryptonite. They have a large live seafood section with fish and shellfish. Their produce section is large where you will find an excellent selection of Asian fruits and vegetables which you'd be hard pressed to find in your local American grocery store. I love their tea and Chinese medicine aisle so many great selections. I picked up Chinese cough syrup which helps with my allergies. I also picked up some dried passion fruit that I plan on adding to my hot tea. Noteworthy areas - hot food sections, noodles, duck, dim sum for purchase and an area to eat as well. You'll just have to park your grocery cart outside the area. SHENG KEE - OMG, I love Sheng Kee because my parents would take my brother and I there growing up to the different locations across the SF Bay Area. Just as delicious as their other locations. Prices are good. Customer service from the employees stocking the shelves to the checkers are excellent as they are all friendly and helpful. A good spot for your Asian grocery shopping needs! Noelle's Notes Parking lot is crazy - carts and drivers speeding in and out, be careful. Great selection of Asian grocery items. Fair prices and great customer service!

The quality of everything here is so bad!!! I needed huyết for the pot of bun bo hue I made at home and a few stores didn't have it so we ended up here. Husband went in while I was waiting in the car with the kids and he sent me a picture of the containers to show me how small they were so I told him to get 3 of them since they were small. Came home and as soon as I took them out of the bag, I knew these were bad. I couldn't tell from the picture but they had cut the cooked huyết into random chunks with lots of bubbles. I boiled them in a pot of hot water and tasted it and they were precooked them in some season water that tasted really bad!!! We didn't end up using any of it. My husband told me I hated this place before and was surprised I was ok with going here today. Apparently it was so bad, I blocked it out of my memory! Never again.

Amazing service by kind workers who explained what each item was. Free small cups to try different foods and snacks around the store. Would recommend!

This review is solely for the hot food section. Everytime we get food there, breakfast or rice plate, the food is always spot on. As for the service, I would say you might have a better experience if you can speak Mandarin, but I think as long as you know exactly what you want and tell that to the ladies there, you should have a pretty good experience. I don't speak a word of Mandarin but I learned to pronounce fan tuan just so I could go buy them. Their fan tuan is fire!! I just love the sticky rice texture and how well it goes with the filling.

Bought half a BBQ duck today. Came home and found only 2 pieces of breast meat and No thigh pieces at all! This is the second time we've noticed pieces missing. Also checked previous reviews on here and another customer had the same experience 10 months ago. Will never come here again!

If anyone ever comes here and encounter this gentalman at the register, avoid him at all cost. He is very rude and an ass to customers. First, when i put the basket on the belt, he started yelling at me take everything out. After i took everything out, i gave him the basket and he started yelling i don't want to touch it. WTF, i'm not sure if he is afraid of catching people germs or afraid of getting sick. Then, he started throwing all my produce to the other gentalman to put it the bag. thank god none of the veggies are bruise or else we would have a problem. Lastly, when i gave him cash to pay for my items, he threw my change at me and all the coins dropped everywhere. I don't know what his problem or if he is a racist to non chinese people, but i'm surprise that the owner would let this kind of behaver in a work place. Avoid him at all cost.

This store seems to be closing soon. Interior is dirty and employees are rude. Worse, quality and freshness of their food items are highly questionable. Make sure to check expiration dates and inspect thoroughly on the perishable items you are buying, if you are going to take the risk to shop from there. There are flies flying in the meat and seafood aisles and the cooked food they sell always look stale. The store management really doesn't care

Is the Taiwanese breakfast available everyday and what time?

It's weekends only. I believe it starts around 8-9am when they open. Operating hours vary, usually closed when the breakfast stuff is sold out around noon or so.

Would you say they mostly speak Vietnamese here? I need a problem to be addressed, but I need to get a friend who speaks the same language to help me communicate.

This is a Chinese market, so I assume they mostly speak mandarin.

They had the usual array of nonstick pots, which don't work very well for me. They had a small but useful section for clay pots. I thought Amazon and AliExpress had overpriced clay pots, but I was wrong. These prices were significantly higher. I can only hope these are the best of the best. Checking up on 99 Ranch, I couldn't even find clay pots in there more limited kitchen utensil section. I ran across one item where knockoffs are ubiquitous. They've completely flooded AliExpress and you have to watch it with Amazon. Hankook had the authentic item and at significantly lower price than both Amazon and Aldi express. I found a tea section to be well stocked. I also recognize some of the tea brands. 99 Ranch has gone with lower cost options, but if you buy 6 ounces of tea, are you gonna be stuck with an enormous supply. Better to go with reliable brands that I have enjoyed in the past. I loved the produce section. It was nice and fresh. It also had wider selection of produce than other supermarkets. The store itself is stunning. The the aisles are spacious. The store is meticulously clean. The shelves are fully stocked. There were only about two items which were shopped out. The snack area and the frozen foods were even more interesting. It's obvious in those two sections that there were many more Korean brands. I should've tried some, but it's hard for me to resist snacks and there was a good chance that would finish the entire bag in one go. Better to skip it entirely. The parking lot for the supermarket is spacious. I had no trouble finding a spot even though I arrived in the late afternoon when everybody has gotten off work. I live about two hours away. And I am very jealous because there is no Hankook near me.

We have purchased a wok from here, twice, and they were reasonably priced (around $35 if I recall), and we got a spare lid for a reasonable price as well. The produce section was not as extensive as those at other Asian markets, but it was still adequate. However, the store carried many unique candies and snacks that I have not seen elsewhere. Notably, sakura flavored products were especially common during my visit. There were two large sections dedicated to premade meals, including rice bowls, hand rolls, onigiri, and sushi. The rolls seemed overly heavy on the rice, with relatively little fish filling. The prices also felt somewhat high for the portion sizes. However, the store offers a 20 percent discount on sushi and bento boxes daily after 6 PM. I ordered the nigiri combination, which included salmon, tuna, and scallop. The scallop was plump, and the tuna was sliced thickly. The salmon was slightly thin but still rich and fatty. Overall, the fish quality was good. The sushi rice was above average, with a distinct vinegar flavor despite being refrigerated. The total cost for the eight pieces was close to restaurant pricing, though the convenience factor partly justified it. I would rate this market a 3.5 out of 5 but rounded up for the good sushi rice. I would recommend shopping elsewhere for produce, but this is a good place for snacks and premade meals, especially after 6 PM.
