Best prices on popular snacks like Loacker wafer quadratinis and Calbee shrimp chips. I also like the by-the-pound area (next to frozen food & beverages) to select Japanese millet jellies, a childhood favorite especially the emerald melon one. On occasion I've also seen the vaunted Sunnyhills and ChiaTe pineapple cakes in the front of store, where they keep an interesting selection of packaged food. These weren't cheap but does save you the trouble of going to Taiwan. It's a good idea to read labels and check out unfamiliar brands. Marina has kept prices relatively low despite high inflation so the quality of items can vary. The decor has declined somewhat over time but the prices keep bringing people back. read more

Came by for breakfast the other day and it was a dingy and decrepit experience. Parking is plentiful in the private parking lot. There is a queue towards 7:45 am waiting for the hot deli to open right at 8 am. The interior of the grocery store is dark and is in a state of shambles... Reminds me of a developing country. The menu is written exclusively in Chinese with prices, all taped on the TV... Some staff wear disposable gloves while others wear disposable masks. I really enjoy coming here as a vegan because they offer a ton of soy proteins, tofu, and bean curd products; plus, I really like that they're all organized in their own section. I've seen vegan shrimp, vegan fish cakes, vegan pork belly (bacon), vegan duck, vegan chicken, vegan sausages, vegan lemon fish, various kinds of pre-seasoned tofu, and even tofu desserts. My go-to items are the bean curd rolls, mushroom tofu, and almond dessert tofu. I also love the vegan bao buns and scallion pancakes in the frozen section. They're perfect for when you're craving a quick dim sum fix. The parking lot is huge so you don't have to stress about finding a spot. Inside, it feels like your average small Asian grocery store. Some aisles seem crowded with products, but everything is well-organized. The checkout lines usually move pretty fast; while you don't get the friendly service you'd find at a place like Trader Joe's, I don't think the staff is rude like some reviews have mentioned. I bought a whole duck 6/9/26, I payed $36.00 and they stole and kept part of the duck for themself, they had a metal around the duck, when they cut it, so you don't see what is going on. While it's a Chinese grocery store you will find American brands like Clover Milk, Kraft. They also have Korean, Filipino, Japanese snacks and food items. Their snack section is mind blowing as there seems to be a limitless selection and this also applies to their candy and tea section as well. Upon entering the store one will find the latest and greatest Chinese candies, cakes and other snacks. I feel weak and want to buy it all, definitely my kryptonite. They have a large live seafood section with fish and shellfish. Their produce section is large where you will find an excellent selection of Asian fruits and vegetables which you'd be hard pressed to find in your local American grocery store. I love their tea and Chinese medicine aisle so many great selections. I picked up Chinese cough syrup which helps with my allergies. I also picked up some dried passion fruit that I plan on adding to my hot tea. Noteworthy areas - hot food sections, noodles, duck, dim sum for purchase and an area to eat as well. You'll just have to park your grocery cart outside the area. SHENG KEE - OMG, I love Sheng Kee because my parents would take my brother and I there growing up to the different locations across the SF Bay Area. Just as delicious as their other locations. The only downside is that it's a rather cramped grocery store because they have so many products on the floor! I had a "extremely bad" experience with the lady's service who sits right in front of the main entrance of the store. She is at her 50's, I guess, with short curly hair. On 4/2/26 at about 6pm, I went to her and asked to cash the powerball ticket prize. She said that she did not have money, and asked me to come back the next day. Then she started to complain me why I did not go to the gas station with very cold tune and ugly face that made me so uncomfortable. The next day at the same time, I decided to stop by the store hoping someone else could help me. Unfortunately the same lady again with colder face and tune said that she did not have money. I stated that it's her who asked me to come back. She burst into angry and yelled at me "why didn't you go to the gas station!", "we don't have money!". She refused to help me. I told her that I might want to buy a new ticket with the $5 prize and gave me $3 change. She yelled more at me and forced me to buy two tickets instead of one. I stayed calm and quiet to her rudeness, but I didn't think that's acceptable. I don't think it's a good idea to hire such a rude employee to service customers. We don't deserve it!! I have mixed feelings about this grocery store. When my friend and I refer to this store we call it a "She". This is because we women tend to be indecisive and can never decide on things, and the person who owns this store has perfectly displayed that by buying almost everything. The items are cramped and small, it's almost impossible to fit 2 shopping carts side by side at any given time. There's always stuff in boxes nearby that needs to be stocked. If you plan on going on a quick grocery trip please don't come here because whoa it's overwhelming. The quality of everything here is so bad!!! I needed huyết for the pot of bun bo hue I made at home and a few stores didn't have it so we ended up here. Husband went in while I was waiting in the car with the kids and he sent me a picture of the containers to show me how small they were so I told him to get 3 of them since they were small. Came home and as soon as I took them out of the bag, I knew these were bad. I couldn't tell from the picture but they had cut the cooked huyết into random chunks with lots of bubbles. This review is solely for the hot food section. Everytime we get food there, breakfast or rice plate, the food is always spot on. As for the service, I would say you might have a better experience if you can speak Mandarin, but I think as long as you know exactly what you want and tell that to the ladies there, you should have a pretty good experience. I don't speak a word of Mandarin but I learned to pronounce fan tuan just so I could go buy them. Their fan tuan is fire!! Fresh Crab!! Went here last Sunday and bought 8 freshly caught and very much alive Dungeness crabs for lunch. The crabs were crawling around in their chilled fish tank when I showed up. Requested 8 lively crabs from the gentleman behind the counter and he gladly went to the Tank and caught them for me. He brought them over to show me, and yes they were very lively. Put 4 in each bag and I was on my way to the register. Marina had the best prices for the crabs, when compared to another local store. Marina was roughly $5.00 a pound cheaper. The store itself has a wide variety of groceries to select from. The prices seem very competitive with other stores. One plus thing about marina is that every time you buy merchandise a certain percentage goes onto a store card for credit to be used in their delicious deli area. In the freezer section, they had 3 sections fully stocked of them. Unfortunately, it looks like the standard price for them is $10 when most places sell for $7 without a promotion. With the shelter in place happening, there weren't many people in the store on a Thursday afternoon. It was nice to be able to breathe and not feel cramped in a grocery store. Every time I come back to the Bay Area, I stop at Marina Food for their breakfast. This is one place I know of with reliable Asian breakfasts of Shao bing and you tiao, which is basically baked flat dough with a piece of fried dough - amazing! They also have fresh soy milk, glutinous rice balls, chive pancake and plenty of other breakfast options to suit your fancy. So the saga continues. My previous comment about how I was just unlucky to pick the item may not be true. I think they have more widely spread mislabeling problems. Yesterday when we went shopping, we picked up a "steamer", clearly marked $32.99. There were more than one units on the shelf, with other steamers of the same brand but different sizes on each side. When we checked out, my wife happened to pick a counter with the aforementioned manager working there. I cringed so I asked my wife to watch the prices while I uploaded all the items. Sure enough, when the steamer was scanned, it says $39.99. When my wife told her, she said that price was for a different model. We asked for a price check. She sent a clerk to go with me to the aisle. He took the price tag back. Then she said it's for a blue boxed unit (our box was red). She took me to the front of the store to show me some blue boxed items. But those units were over $40. So I asked her where the $32.99 units were. At that moment, she came up with the most unbelievable response. She said that price is for 2019 models and the units on the shelf are current models. Obviously I very aggravated but I couldn't help marvel at her "quick thinking on the spot". Did she go to Trump U? I asked to speak to her manager and she told me she's the manager, meaning no one else to talk to. Fortunately a man showed up and appears to be more senior. He asked me to show him where we found the unit. Easily convinced that I was right, he said they'll honor the price. He walked back to the counter and asked the woman to do the price correction. She refused. So the man had to ask another cashier to do it. To be fair, the man is much more reasonable. So maybe I shouldn't have given up on all the people working there, just that woman. read more

This time I was close by to the Cupertino one and when I got home to warm the fish the bag was with full of oil and dropping. This is not the way I get it in the Marina in San Mateo. I used to be a customer but finally turned to other Chinese supermarkets after accumulated frustrations finally burst. Their prices are generally more expensive than others because they use that to cover the costs of the 20% coupon-in-card for high-volume shoppers. The coupon-in-card is supposed to be used in the Deli section. However, the Deli section is quite bad. It costs $20+ for a steamed soy sauce chicken (油雞) and sometimes the chicken would miss a drumstick or a wing, if you don't closely watch the chef chopping it! Alas, I can grab a rotisserie chicken -- with two drumsticks and two wings, thank you -- at Smart & Final for $8.99 and at Costo for $4.99. Enough is enough. We switch to other vendors and only come here for the few items others don't carry. read more

I got $18 MEM credit for the deli for spending $90 on groceries so I decided to come back for breakfast. The Mem credit expires on the 1st or 15th of the month so I came back on Sunday. The lines were long, but moved along. Came here for Chinese Soymilk & donut breakfast. The menu is only in Chinese and the workers don't speak Engligh so it's hard to order of you can't read chinese. I ordered Large hot Soymilk ($4.50), Soy pudding with sweet ginger surup ($4.50), 4 Donuts (@ $2.25 each) and Sesame ball (3 for $4.99). They also have $5.99 set menu specials that comes with small soymilk, but I didn't know what else it comes with. I guess I will come back for the soymilk and pudding when I get MEM credit, but the MEM credit is nothing to get excited over. The deli food just isn't that great. read more
