    Don't come here. Seriously!!

Do not rent here, they have major safety issues with the boats and frankly don't seem to care too much. We were out and the rudder LITERALLY came off the boat while we were sailing. We lost control of the boat(obviously) and did a 180 degree spin in the middle of the harbor. Fortunately there were no boats in the immediate are but it was very dangerous and frankly pretty scary. I've been sailing for 30 years and have never had that happen before. Needless to say, we immediately brought in the sails and motored back in. We were only out for about 45 minutes when that happened and lost the rest of the day. After telling the staff about what happened, they just offered a half sincere apology and told us we were "all set to go". I asked "um, we lost a half day of sailing because of this, could we get some sort of discount?" The guy at the desk kindly declined any refund and said they "might give a discount the next time". Thank you, but there won't be a next time...ever. Find another place to rent from. You might not have any problems here, and it might be uncommon or rare, but if something happens you won't get any sort of customer service or credit against a lost afternoon. I'd say this was by far the most expensive and disappointing 2 hours I've ever spent on the water.

Hi Gary and Marina Sailing Team, Just wanted to let you know that Angela did a fantastic job teaching us over the weekend on the 104/114 class! We all learned a ton and definitely enjoyed learning on the 40' Leopard! Thanks again!

II had joined Marina Sailing Club over 15 years ago and I have had many wonderful years of great experiences which has led me to buying a boat of my own. I joined not knowing how to sail and went through their thorough and fun sailing courses including several advanced courses. I Since 1998 until now I have rented about 12 different yachts ranging from 30ft to 47ft Mono hulls from Long Beach, Redondo and Marina del Rey, totaling 140 days on the water, Every one to the boats throughout the years have been impeccably maintained and clean, they introduce new boats into the fleet throughout the years and cycle out the older yachts so you are always sailing on a relatively new yacht. I have also had the pleasure of traveling several time to the Caribbean (BVI, Canouan, St Marteen) with this fun group of sailors for week long sailing adventures. I would highly recommend this club for new sailors, to experienced sailors whether you want to captain the boat, crew on the boat or just enjoy the experience on the water with a group of fun loving scallywags. ARRRRG!

Gary is great, always helpful, and you have options to take courses from all their Marinas which is very convenient.

(AG, you know who you are, lol). Other than that mishap, it was a fantastic experience, and it made me consider participating in a yacht timeshare myself. Poor customer service and poor quality of boat. I have to…read moresay it's difficult for me to write this review as my family and I were very much looking forward to spending a beautiful day on the bait to celebrate my dads birthday. And all though we still made the best of it it really did not live up to what was promised and the amount of money we paid. So let's start with m: 1. The address did not match what was listed on their Yelp page and created a lot of confusion and frustration especially since we had kids with us. I had to text the owner, Mario, and he gave us another location to charter form which was not at all what was listed on their page. 2. Not sure if the captain of the day,Noah, was having a bad day or what but he was definitely not in the mood to greet us properly. He was very short, not so friendly and barely spoke to us during our ride. 3. The boat was not like the photos they presented or posted on Yelp. I even texted the owner and asked him to send me a few photos of what the boat will look like. It was definitely dirty, the coaches were so damaged and dirty they had black clothes over them. One of inside couches was wet, my uncle sat on it unknowingly making his pants wet and him uncomfortable for the rest of the ride. 4. The table surfaces were all damaged & chipped. We had to be careful for the kids not to get splinters when they would approach the table to grab something to eat. 5. Worst of it all was that we only watched cargo shipments for 2 hours!! On our phone call with Mario mentioned we can go through the canals and even get a far glimpse of the Queen Mary but we didn't. We even asked Noah to take us the other way around into the open water and he said no he needs to this way first (meaning by the cargo shipments). It was very disappointing since it was my dads actual birthday and the experience was completely robbed from us. It's very sad that we wasted over a thousand dollars and didn't receive what we had paid for. And I even texted Mario afterwards telling him our concerns but didn't get a reply back. Poor customer service.

And they're phasing out their most powerful boat, the 75hp, because of too much abuse and the associated high insurance costs. But they still offer the 40hp boat and that has plenty of power, with a top speed of about 20 knots. It comfortably seats 4 people in designated seats, but can fit an extra two people sitting up front sideways on bench seating. I had a great time. I saw seals sunbathing on the buoys, and I even saw dolphins near the first oil rig island by the Queen Mary ship. Of course you can also get a nice close-up view of the Queen Mary itself. You're allowed to go almost to the Seal Beach Municipal Pier, but not quite. 1hr duration is enough if you want to do a quick single lap of the designated ocean area. 2hrs is highly recommend if you want to take your time and not be rushed. Be sure to bring a light jacket, hat, and sunglasses to protect yourself from the wind and sun. The designated driver is not allowed to drink. I'm not sure if the rest of the guests are allowed to drink. Park near the Yard House restaurant and then walk to the back of the restaurant and you'll see the little hut with the staff in it. If nobody is there then look over the edge to the docked boats because the staff might be down there instead.

Because we couldn't get up on a plane, the small waves ended up splashing everyone on the boat. We just puttered around the shoreline marina. It was fun, but a little disappointing at the same time.
