This Boutique Hotel is in a great location, walking distance from everything. The hotel is very nice and well maintained. Beautiful flowering plants out front, its own parking lot & You receive a breakfast basket in the morning with enough to get you started. We had a chance to stay at the Marina Street Inn during our visit to Morro Bay & had a great time talking to our host Claudia. We staying in one of her nicely appointed rooms when we woke up, she has a basket set up with yogurt, granola, and a very flavorful. Scone and of course there's coffee. Her place is close to all the shops so you could walk if you'd like or just take your car and park down by the shops. We look forward to our next stay here. read more

We love everything about Morro Bay (just about everything) and my wife says it has an "unreal" feeling (in a very good way) that home (Long Beach CA) just doesn't have. Normally when we come down to the Central Coast, we stay at San Luis Obispo and at times Pismo Beach. This time we decided to explore Morro Bay with a night at the Marina Street Inn and I didn't know what we have been missing. Owner Claudia welcomes you to her home at check in and you can tell the love that goes into her décor. With 4 individually decorated rooms to choose from (2 on each floor with either a shared small patio or balcony), you should be able to find one that will make you feel right at home. All rooms have their own bathrooms and bedrooms are large enough to have a small sitting area in addition to a comfortable queen sized bed. We chose the Garden Room which coincidentally Matt Damon had stayed in so if it is good enough for Matt Damon, it is good enough for us. The décor made you feel like you were outside sleeping in a cozy nest and were even able to see the sun set along the side of Morro Rock right from our balcony. Breakfast of coffee/tea and orange juice, slice of cake, fruit cup and hot item like French Toast and sausage is served each morning around her dining room table and wine with cheese and crackers which we did not get a chance to partake in is served around 5 or 5:30 in the living area. A few blocks away from the Embarcadero and on Saturdays, the afternoon Farmer's Market also only a couple blocks of away, it is a great location to explore the waterfront with its shops and restaurants without having to worry about looking for parking and if you are lucky, treated to the antics of the sea otters and their pups, all within walking distance. With only a 20 minute drive from SLO, you are still close enough to go into town anytime you want while enjoying the even slower pace of Morro Bay. read more

My wife and sister-in-law tried staying here last night, although a comfortable night's sleep was not easy to come by. First, the pillows are only available covered in shams, and although they looked quite ugly, they also were uncomfortable; they had to cover the pillows with their t-shirts just to be able to use them! Second, when my wife and sister-in-law arrived, they were greeted with a note from the innkeeper (or cryptkeeper, more like it) that she was out running errands. Then the lady emerged from upstairs. This is just weird. Third, the closets had no hangers for clothes, and the space under the guest beds was occupied for storage of the inn's seasonal supplies. In summation, if a zero star rating was available, it would be utilized en masse on the Marina Street Inn. Please do not be fooled by the four and five star reviews, they may or may not have been planted; either way, they are not representative of the true experience of what may be the worst and least welcoming bed and breakfast in Central California. Marina Street Inn claims to be the only bed and breakfast in Morro Bay; I suppose this means that Morro Bay just isn't cut out for the bed and breakfast business. read more

Staying with Claudia Foster at the Marina Street inn is like coming home. As soon as you enter the beautiful yellow house surround by an inviting a colorful garden, you know this will be something special and unique. The Inn, like Morro Bay, is a one of a kind experience. The four available room are each decorated in a different theme. The rooms are not modern 5 Star offerings, but almost a piece of history filled with memories. In the morning your breakfast basket will have a delicious scone delivered from the bakery that morning. That with yogurt, granola and fresh fruit make for a great way to start your day. The best part of our stay was spending time in the living room talking with Claudia and the other guests. We first visited the Inn seven years ago, now we come home three to four times a year. We had an awesome 2 day stay at this lovely B&B. It's within close walking distance from the waterfront, the breakfasts were amazing (oh the baked pears!), and the house dog - Trap the yellow Lab - was the perfect touch for this vacationing dog loving pair. An incredible find in Morro Bay! I was visiting family for the weekend and Claudia made us feel very much at home... if your home is the kind of home with a gourmet five-star breakfast, a wine and hors d'oeuvres happy hour at 5pm, and the coolest mom ever who climbed Macchu Picchu at age 70. Joking aside, Claudia is the best host ever: striking the perfect balance of being really cool to talk to but not overbearing and in your face. Had a wonderful 3 night stay at this B&B. A very romantic get away with my boyfriend. We had great tasting gourmet breakfast every morning. Claudia was very accommodating to our needs and sat down with us each morning to offer ideas for day trips and restaurants to explore. The Marina Street Inn is a beautiful and welcoming place that makes you feel at home. From the time of our arrival Claudia went above and beyond to make us feel at home. oh, heck no. Yelp ya' let me down. I have to assume the previous reviews were from relatives and close family. I have been around and stayed at my fair share of B&B's and Inns around the US. Here are just some random thoughts that are staying with me after a trip to Morro Bay. A trip to Marine Street reminds me of all the bad things a trip to Grandma's brings back. "Dust Catchers", knicknacks and personal momentos so crammed into every nook and cranny and plastic covers on couches that made you want to get outside as soon as possible. A grumpy innkeeper who has no concept of hospitality. Breakfast servings so small and unfulfilling that we immediately left after breakfast to go have breakfast. We had some almond french toast...one slice...that was so chewy I would have spit it out...plus, she didn't even ask about food allergies...like NUTS...which is almost innkeeping malpractice these days. Terrible coffee...and a grumpy lady who joined us...disrupted the flow of conversation between guests to tell us HER story...and seemed generally put upon and humorless. I got the feeling that we were keeping her from her day. She was even having home repairs done while we were there. Afternoon wine and cheese...where you had to sit politiely and listen to her drone on and on about whatever she wanted to talk about. I thought she was going to start talking about her "corns". All we could do was sneak grins to each other while she insisted on pouring us a desert wine or really sweet Chardonnay at 5pm along with a cheddar cheese tray that you buy at Costco. She's going through the motions...you can tell her heart isn't in it any longer. The rooms were over-decorated with "crap"...no flow or design...more like using the rooms for storage. "The shared deck" between rooms was about 10 square feet...and if you opened your slider you were looking at the bed of the other guest room. I'm not shy...but this was a little too close for even me. Beware...the street noise from drunks stumbling home at 2am was ridiculous. I thought I was going to have to call the police after listening to a man berate a woman and threatening to beat her if she didnt catch up. Good luck going back to sleep after that. The bed was lumpy and a "queen size"...if your idea of a queen size bed is for the cast of Munchkinland in the Wizard of OZ. No air circulation...no fan...much too warm...even for a coastal community. I'm just getting started...but I will end it now. Suffice to say...Marine Street will never be revisited again...at any price. read more

The Marina Street Inn will make you feel like you've just been hugged by a troop of warm mini muffins wearing strawberry jam hats, singing Dolly Parton covers. It's just enchanting! A winding path of plants and flowers and an impressive array of yard art guided us towards the front door. Not one but THREE welcome mats bellowed messages of friendship and greetings. We felt pretty welcome. When we got to the front door, Claudia immediately greted us, a very smiley labradore at her side. She informed us of breakfast service and asked if we had any food sensitivities. We readily gathered that the Inn is one of Claudia's passions. We couldn't help notice the house is filled with moments of country living and crafty fun. All holidays were jointly represented in the living and dining room areas. I don't think any were left out. Our room was outfitted with a 4-post queen bed, brimming with blankets and fluffy-shammed pillows as well as a vintage rocker, home-made throws, TONS of velvety pink towels, books on country style, arm chair with doilie arm rests and a cute lil private patio. Everything was clean and in its place. At 9AM, we were served a lovely breakfast in the dining room with the other Inn guests. I was lagging after a few martinis the night before and arrived late to the table. Before sitting down, I lifted the coffee mug at an empty place setting and started moving towards the kitchen in search of morning brew. My friend motioned to me to sit down and cease any attempt at gathering my own coffee, the other guests consented via smiles and nodding. It was obvious to all that Claudia takes hospitality very seriously and that she would not tolerate me filling my own mug. Almond french toast with powdered sugar topped with strawberry slices was served along with sausage which Claudia told us she had marinated in orange juice. She asked us all what we did and gave us tips on local attractions before sending us on our way. We will definitely return next time we are in Morro Bay! Thanks Claudia! This is the perfect romantic bed and breakfast for the couple that is looking to be in a private, quiet setting. Morro Bay is already a beach town just outside of San Luis Obispo. So you're already in a great spot to wander along the coast to watch sea otters or fly a kite. But this B&B was so intimate that it made you feel as if you were visiting someone's home. The gourmet breakfasts and the wine and cheese in the late afternoons were a nice touch. Guests can choose between four rooms, all of which are uniquely decorated and some have a balcony attached. My boyfriend and I found it easy to check-in late, as long as you let the innkeeper know ahead of time and call before your arrive. If we had any questions about restaurants or other places of interest, the staff was very knowledgeable and went out of their way to be very accommodating - even getting map directions online and printing them for some guests. We definitely plan to visit again since we visit the area annually. read more

My boyfriend and I wanted to go on a little getaway back in May. We had considered the beer festival in San Luis Obispo, but the inns were all either booked or super pricy that weekend. I found the Marina Street Inn and Bed and Breakfast online via Trip Advisor, and as soon as I saw on their website that "The Marina Street Inn believes in the personal touch. We do not accept reservation requests over the internet. Our Innkeeper, Claudia, prefers to talk personally over the phone with people interested in staying at our B & B." I knew in my heart that this was exactly where we had to stay. Although it was Memorial Day weekend, we had both Thursday and Friday nights to ourselves. Claudia was very gracious and her breakfasts were delicious. I loved her coffee cakes, Aebleskivers, and quiche the best. My boyfriend and I went on a full moon kayak paddle, and Claudia was kind enough to give us a lift from the Morro Bay State Park back to our nice, cozy room. We stayed in the Garden Room, which had a nice view. There was a little hiccup with regards to how many nights we had booked. Apparently, the reservation was written for three nights instead of the four we had intended, but it was sorted out and we definitely plan to come back again. May is a nice time of year because the city isn't overrun by tourists but it isn't freezing, either, so kayaking is still possible. I wouldn't get into the water, though. It's still too chilly for that! There are a lot of seals (or sealions) and they can be quite loud, but it was a nice change from Santa Barbara's packed beaches. read more

This is a wonderful find in Morro Bay, and it saved the day when a wedding guest of ours exited another establishment in town. Hostess Claudia is hospitality itself; the house is lovely both in the public areas and the rooms, you have a view of the rock, there is a serene golden Lab on site, and the price is also just fine, esp compared to what the hotels think is a fair charge. read more

My wife and I recently spent 3 lovely nights at the Marina Street Inn. We try to avoid cookie cutter motel rooms where the pictures on the walls are the same in all of the rooms, you never get to meet other interesting guests, and you feel you are just one of many who come and go with no real personal attention. Whenever we are away from home we try to find a cozy B & B which reflects the personal taste of the inn keeper. We love the personal attention, real cooked breakfasts (not the kind found at motels who offer free buffet breakfasts) and delightful individually decorated bedrooms and general sitting areas. We like to feel like we are "at home" with extra pampered care. Well, we are happy to report that Claudia's Marina Street Inn provided all we were looking for and more. After a busy day we like to have two very comfortable sitting chairs to curl up in and relax, read and unwind before going out for dinner. The Marina Street Inn has 4 individually decorated rooms, each with two large comfortable chairs, nice baths with adequate counter space for all your toiletries, and comfy beds. There are nice views out the windows of the town and bay and a private parking lot in the rear. Claudia, the inn keeper, was a delight. While we were the only guests during our midweek stay, we enjoyed interesting conversations and shared travel stories with Claudia each morning. We will definitely be staying here the next time we escape to the central coast for a few days. read more

I just stayed their this past weekend. I was looking forward to staying here & I left dissapointed!! The sheets smelled & someone had gone to the bathroom & did not flush it! We stayed in the second level & its a nice room with a decent view. The traffic at night with cars flying by is loud. We had trouble sleeping because of it. The breakfast was awful!!!! The wine is awful too. The whole think is a joke & i felt bad because their old but they need to pass it down to someone who can care for the b&b. We sat in the dinning room table along with everyone else & pretended to make conversation to the other people. We also pretended to like the slice of crap she served along with the two slices of bacon thrown in the plate. I would not stay here again unless owners have changed. The only good thing was the dog. The old lady was rude to my husband because she didnt like the conversation they were having while eating. We left shortly after. To many old people staying at that B & B with no life in them anymore. For the $145 we paid i rather stay else were! read more
