A comfortable place to stay and good location. But for nearly $500 for a 2-nite mid-week stay on the third (top) floor, I'd expect a more upgraded interior with better bath products (a single dried out cake of soap!) and all plastic coffee cups and glasses. No wine glasses. TV needs an upgrade and too far away from the beds. Really no space for the electric fireplace that ended up across from the bathroom. Also needs a deep cleaning around the coffee bar area and mini fridge. Nice beds and linen. Ok shower. No daily maid service. Advertised as "new" ocean front rooms, but really just a distant view of the bay beyond the parking lot. And only if you pay more to stay on the second or third floor. First floor your view is the guests parked cars. Breakfast not included, but maybe coffee in the lobby. Final impression: good location, comfortable, but not worth the price charged. read more

Stayed 3 nights and wish I could of stayed longer. My room was so peaceful on the 3rd floor; I could lay in the comfy bed and see the ocean. The cathedral ceilings give the room a great feeling of spaciousness, and the amenities provide everything you need. The sea lions & seagulls were pretty noisy the first night, but by the 2nd day they just faded into the background. Staff was super friendly and helpful. The cleaning products they use were super strong smelling for my taste. When I informed management, Melanie opened the long window next to the door and the room aired right out. Wish I would of thought of that the 1st day. Highly recommend if you value quiet, view and a spacious room. read more

Good location and very nice area, but the problem was we stay on the low level floor. People from the room above us made a lot of noise. Moving things around, walking around in their room. (At 3-6am) So we couldn't sleep at all. I called for complaining 2 times but seem like they can't do anything about it. read more

Stayed here with my family and had a pleasant nights sleep while visiting Morro Bay. The hotel looks older from the outside but the rooms have been updated and the beds and bathrooms are nice. Let me first start by saying this is my new favorite beach town hotel. I will forever be a guest here on my travels to the area. I was pleasantly surprised by the room as my partner booked us and I had no idea what to expect. The room is so well maintained, very clean, crisp even. It has a very nice modern design. The beds were comfy as heck, the electric fireplace being a nice touch. The bathroom was clean and I love the barn door. When checking in, the lobby is decorated with the cutest fall decorations and the front desk staff (both day and night) have been extremely friendly. They offer snacks and tea/coffee which came in handy after a cold day on the boat. Last thing, the location!! You literally cannot beat the location for the price. All in all I really rate this place a 10/10, I would highly recommend for your stay whether short or long. This place has its quirks but I loved my stay here and look forward to my next time here. read more

I have mixed reviews of this Inn. Pros: -Location/proximity to bay tours, restaurants, etc are great! -overall updated interior and pretty clean especially in comparison to how it looks from the outside cough cough a low tier motel Cons: -Air conditioner doesn't keep room cool and is veryyy nosiy not ideal to be here on a hot day. Checking in was a very hot day and the room was hot and musty upon entering and kinda stayed like that the whole night. -Exterior is pretty outdated especially for what you pay. -I paid about $300 for ocean view and $320 for a cathedral. The ocean view was facing the sun nice bright room. But the cathedral room was facing away from morro bay and was very dark--would not recommend. I would recommend just doing a stop and Morro Bay and getting a hotel in Cambria. read more

We have stayed at The Landing in Morro Bay CA. a few times over the years and love the convenience of the location. You can walk anywhere downtown from there so it's nice to park our car and forget about it. Views from our room aren't bad either, although I can only base that on the fact that we were always on the highest floor (3rd). My only complaint would be how small the bathroom is. There is no place to put your stuff. We have only been here in the cool/cold months of the year so I cannot speak to any of the complaints I've seen about A/C issues in warmer weather. Other than that it's a cute little motel. read more

Unwelcoming staff, nonexistent housekeeping, rock-hard beds, misleading amenities, and walls so thin we might as well have shared a room with our neighbors. This was our first time staying at The Landing, but we've been to Morro Bay many times. We chose this hotel for its proximity to the Embarcadero, expecting a comfortable and welcoming stay. Unfortunately, that was far from our experience. The most glaring issue was the treatment we received at checkout. The older woman handling it was unwelcoming, rude, and outright disrespectful. Given her demeanor, I have strong reason to believe it was due to my age and ethnicity. While the younger staff members were warm and helpful, this woman's attitude left a lasting impression--one that made it clear we weren't the kind of guests they cater to. Housekeeping seemed nonexistent. Although our room was clean and freshly made up upon checking in there were no fresh towels, and no replenishment of the already minimal toiletries throughout the entirety of our stay. We had to request fresh towels ourselves, and thankfully, the young man working the evening shift was happy to assist. The bed was stiff, and uncomfortable. A good night's sleep was impossible, not just because of the bed, but because of the walls--or lack thereof. We heard everything from our neighbors, from footsteps to moans to what sounded like them rearranging furniture well into the early morning hours, both nights. Seriously, it sounded like they were starting construction in the middle of the night. To top it off, the hotel falsely advertised certain amenities. We were told upon check-in that the outdoor seating area, including the fire pit, was available to us. When we tried to use it the next day while enjoying a cup of coffee, we were suddenly told it wasn't actually accessible to us. No explanation--just another inconsistency in a stay full of disappointments. Bottom line: I wouldn't stay here again. If you're looking for a comfortable, accommodating stay in Morro Bay, this isn't it. And if you don't fit their preferred guest profile you might want to take your hard-earned money elsewhere. read more

Really enjoyed my stay here. The location is central to the waterfront and downtown. The views from the upper rooms are fantastic. I'd say the extra cost for an upper floor room is worth it for the view and the lack of noise, like people walking on your head at night. The upper rooms feel bigger with vaulted ceilings. Since this is an updated older property, there are no elevators so if you don't feel like lugging suitcases up two flights of short stairs then opt for a lower floor. While breakfast is not included they do offer lots of snacks during the day like granola bars and hot chocolate and teas. The staff are really nice and make your stay really pleasant. Pricing is fair for the location, quality of rooms and dedicated parking lot. Book direct with the hotel to get the best prices. read more

Stayed here for a few days during the week of 6/17/21. The rooms look like they just been remodeled. It had a Nautical theme to it and it was nice. Everything in the room worked to perfection. Water pressure in the shower was very good, AC was powerful but loud. Room included a refrigerator and Microwave, but no coffee maker. Coffee and Cinnamon bread was provided in the lobby. All the employees were very pleasant. It also had a electric fire place which can be on with or without heat. Cable tv had a few channels. Two queen size beds. Like most hotels, walls are thin and you can hear noisy guests. Plenty of parking but all outdoors. I only wish it had some kind of covered parking...see last paragraph. The hotel is in a great location. It's in the middle of everything but not on the main street were all the tourists are at. It's walking distance to everywhere. I walked to the Rock in my flip flops which is probably a little bit over a mile. When i was looking for a room, this hotel along with two other ones where the priciest. My room had a view of the Rock...and it looks like most of the rooms did. Overall, I would definitely stay here again. Just a side note, I've been to so many coastal towns, but for some reason the Seagulls really loves this area. I've never seen a coastal town where the Seagulls bombard vehicles/roofs, lampposts, etc with their poop like this town. Even the employees also mentioned it. I parked my car strategically and the Seagulls still got my car a couple of times...lol. Luckily, there was a self-serving carwash just around the corner...they must do some serious business. read more

What a perfect spot my Hubs and I stayed in during our weekend getaway to Morro Bay. We were on the top floor and had views of the Rock, which was always majestically when you start your day. We loved our stay here and would come back, as well as recommend it to others! Location has views but is walkable to a little bit of everything. The rooms are only what you need for a quick getaway, a place to sleep and shower. There is a small kitchenette with a microwave, coffee maker and fridge. The bathroom (while small) is newly remodeled with a gorgeous stone tile shower. Decor is cute and modern. Wood floors. Oh! And there is a heater in your room to warm up the place on a cold night. Parking is on-site. Staff is friendly and available to help. Coffee bar in the mornings at the reception desk which has a little "to go" window. We loved our stay here. read more

Great location!! Next to the downtown area near the beach where all the shops are and you can see Morro Rock beautifully from the parking lot. With that being said, the room its self was a disappointment. We booked a junior suite and there was nothing "suite" about it. Higher price the room was basic with 2 beds a bathroom, microwave, and coffee maker. The heater was also broken and obviously being close to the beach it gets very cold and with wood flooring even colder in the room. When we told front desk she said the machines are fussy and she gave us a small space heater the size of a teddy bear, which didn't help at all. Room was not very clean and the floors were very dirty as well. Not the worst experience but will definitely not be back. read more

We stayed here after Christmas for our annual trip we make. We stayed three nights and four days. I was excited to stay here as it is close to where our friends were camping. The room is very spacious and had a great view. The downside is there was no ice machine available, no coffee maker in the room, the shower drained really slow and the stairs don't have lights at night and because of that I fell after missing two stairs to the landing. read more

Misleading advertising on their own website. I booked the superior double queen, only because it was the only room on the website that touted a balcony. I had been shopping around for a room with a private balcony, I wanted to make our vacation special by paying a little more for the additional amenities. When we arrived we saw pretty quickly that "your balcony" (from the website) is actually just the shared breezeway, same as all the other rooms, just on the 3rd floor. A couple other issues. The privacy screens on the windows are a couple inches away from the window, and you can see through the gaps into and out of the room when they're pulled closed. The front door also had a gap at least half an inch off the ground, which let in cold air, rain, and noise from outside. Overall pretty disappointed for $150 a night. It's a nice spot to stay for the location and view, but not at all the quality we were expecting. read more

The breakfast includes a cup of coffee and a pastry. That's it. Not the hot breakfast I anticipated. The room was okay though the bathroom had no area to put things; I had to keep my toothbrush, etc. on top of the refrigerator outside of the bathroom. And, this was the first hotel I've ever been at where they fix the TV audio level. Another hotel on my trip had this too. So incredibly annoying. I was welcomed at the front desk by Dameon...what an incredible host...He informed me that a Free continental breakfast will be served in the morning ~ cereals, muffins, hard boiled eggs, coffee, cappuccino...Good enough for me! We arrived at our 3rd story room, and it was cozy, fresh & airy, CLEAN, updated...and perfect. The view - Amazing! It's my daughter's 23rd birthday, and I wanted it away from "her" norm. I did good. There's an abundant amount of shops and restaurants nearby. The weather showed cloudy with a chance of rain. It lied. The weather was absolutely ah-mazing!! Mid 50's and SUNNY. Check out my photos!! Tip: There are no elevators so keep in mind what you want to be lugging up the stairs...And also, there are no phones or irons/ironing boards in the room. Sounding the alarm for those autoimmune and high risk folks traveling during Covid TIMES. We stayed for a night and found there's cockroaches in the bathroom, we couldn't stay longer with all the risks since the staff is not wearing mask indoors at the front desk. At this time during Covid and with the DELTA variant getting more folks, this is high risk behavior on their behalf. There's no hand sanitizer in the front desk, everyone grabs the coffee and tea machines without cleaning their hands. The bread given out in the morning is just placed on the counter with one pair of thongs, again no hand sanitizers anywhere for people to be sanitized. Two stars because the view and location is great but please be aware there's plenty of options of hotels in the area for a healthier vacation. read more

DO NOT book this hotel. All the other good reviews cannot be true. First, it's overpriced - an average motel room charges $400+ per night. Second, they charged us extra $40 for dirty towels and $200 for damaged lamp in the bill silently!!? We all know the towels will be dirty after use, and we've never used the lamp during just one night sleep. We asked them to provide the proof, but they refused. Third, it's super hard to talk to the hotel staff about the surcharge. They don't receive the phone call, and we have emailed them and only got their template response. We really did enjoy our stay at The Landing and would stay again. Here is a little more detail from our POV. The staff was super friendly and responsive. COVID protocols were clearly stated and followed. Fantastic location! A block up from the main tourist thoroughfare for easy access to shopping and dining but no noise. Parking lot can be a bit tight for larger vehicles but there is also copious street parking. The view rooms are on the second and third stories, no elevators. ADA rooms are on the first floor, with limited views. Our view from the third floor was amazing, I adored how we could open the door, plus a little side door next to it, and get the cool coastal breeze through the room with an amazing view to boot. These doors, however open to a balcony walkway. Not a huge deal with the third floor which has only a handful of rooms, so not much foot traffic. It didn't bother me, but some might not like the lack of privacy. No window coverings on the small east facing windows meant the sun came streaming through at the crack of dawn. I was happy to get up and enjoy the town early the first morning. The second morning I propped some pillows over the windows so I could sleep in. Brand new furniture and bedding. Nicely appointed. Mini fridge, no freezer compartment. The shower. Sigh. The shower head aims straight for the shower door, and some water leaks out of the crack where the door closes. But worse, when you turn the shower on to let it heat up, it shoots straight out the open door. You really can't adjust the angle of the shower head so that this doesn't happen. This caused me horrific guilt. "I'm getting the floor wet!" My Mom's unbidden opinion of my sloth rang loudly in my pre-coffee-infused mind each morning. The "fireplace" is electric. The weather was warm when we visited and we ignored it. I'm sure it would be nice on a cold evening, inasmuch as a fireplace sans actual fire can be. The table near the front actually spins around which is kind of cool (like a giant lazy Susan). But there are no plugs next to it, except for that plug that is totally utilized by the Roku and TV. If you're looking to set up a laptop, well, we dragged the table over in front of the smaller door and ran the plug from the wall next to the bed. This gave us an amazing backdrop of the ocean and rock view while working!! I really did enjoy this place and I would totally visit again. The view, location, and super kind staff made our trip amazing. I don't mean to scare anyone off with the logistics noted above, I just think it's better to know what you're getting into, so I hope it helped. Note: just found this unfinished review, but our visit date was in September 2020 and things may have changed. Checked in with Diana. Very friendly and helpful. Our room was 109. It was clean and the beds were comfy. Yes you can hear people walking above you and people talking outside if they were extra loud. Which there was a guy who would howl every few minutes. hair dryer in our bathroom, 2 hangers in our closest, plenty of towels. I always bring a small fan for the noise. I didn't hear anything once it went on. Coffee and cooffee cake ate served through a little window in the office. There is a fire pit they turn on around 730. Unfortunately it was the night of the huge wind storm so no fire. Great place to stay since it's right by the steps that take you down to the shops. read more
