This is a hidden Gem. We chose it to break up our drive from San Clemente to the bay area. It's a charming little inn across the street from the beach, and right next to the best seafood restaurant in the area. The room was very clean and inviting, and we had a very nice partial view of the ocean. (There are full ocean views too, for next time!) Cambia is so nice, and this will be my go-to spot. read more

I have been here less than 5 hours and the "office is closed" after 9 PM (it was 9:20 when I called) and the phone line tells you to press 2 for the night manager but pressing 2 just takes you back to the main menu. Circle round and round, getting nowhere and getting no help. read more

I may be unjustly giving Little Sur Inn 3 stars instead of 4. I'm not trying to deter anyone away, it's a great place to stay, this is from my recent stay here and is not reflective on the rest of the Inn. We stayed two nights over the week and weekend. I accepted the "last room available" but wasn't told that this was the ADA room. The room itself was beautiful, however the bathroom being set up for ADA compliance was not what we were looking for. The shower was a little challenging, the shower head was handheld and even resting on the hook I had to bend under it to rinse off. The sink was very small and offered no counter space for anything. The decor was also very dark and outdated for such a small space. The bed was very comfortable and the linens were all very clean and crisp, not full of dirty throw pillows and blankets that don't get washed. The floors were free from carpet, much easier to keep clean and sanitary. Breakfast is offered in the morning, they do have gluten free muffins if you make it in early. I'm sure the other rooms must be a lot nicer and roomier, the hotel seemed to be kept up nicely. I would recommend but know what you're paying for before you settle to make sure you'll be happy with your stay. read more

My wife and I stayed here 07/05 & 07/06/24 in the front room facing the ocean. We picked it so we could walk next door to our favorite restaurant the Sea Chest. What an amazing stay! The hotel staff were great and the views are amazing. The hotel maids were also very helpful as well. The room was clean, simple but had everything we needed with the microwave and refrigerator. The king bed was very comfortable and we loved the gas fireplace. It was so peaceful and quiet during the night listening to the waves crash. We love to eat breakfast at Linn's downtown so I can't review the hotel breakfast. It was the perfect stress release from work and the 115 degree temperature in Fresno. It's not the Ritz Carlton, but it was worth every penny to be so close to our favorite spots along Moonstone Beach and to relax in the peace and quiet. Beds extremely comfortable, reasons clean and had the monitors, great view of the ocean in an ocean view room. Great continental breakfast and love the zucchini muffins, coffee as great, lots of tea selections, complimentary water and have a nice e frig and binoculars. Just loved it! We have booked and stayed here numerous times. We have always felt welcomed by the generous staff at this quaint inn. Stays include a Continental breakfast including the best pastries on Cambria from a local restaurant. The rooms are generous and the location cannot be beat. Steps away from the beach/boardwalk. There is a fantastic seafood restaurant right next door and other restaurants just a short walk away. Greeted with a locally sourced cookie, a really good cookie.. and locally sourced coffee. Our room was conveniently located near the lobby, was spacious clean with an ocean view. I could lie in bed and watch the waves. We had not been here since the pandemic of 2020 and there has been an update with much attention to being environmentally friendly. EV charging station, real dishes and plates, a water bottle refill station. We love this place as much as we did the first time many years ago. This is a family owned boutique hotel. Continental breakfast, complete with local pastries is served in the common area. Cambria is one of my favorite places to travel. It feel like I am far away. There is a boardwalk along Moonstone Beach, one of the nicest short walks you will ever take and it's fight across the street. Cambria is chock full of quaint little shops and scrumptious dining options. The friendly hotel staff are more than happy to point you in the right direction. Cambria is more popular than ever so reservations are suggested if you have your heart set on a particular restaurant. The hotel is next door to a fabulous Seafood restaurant that does not take reservations and only takes cash. The line starts an hour before they open but it's an ocean front wait. You can also give them your name and go back to your room and enjoy a glass of wine and return. This is a well known area for wine tasting. Ask around, talk to people and find you perfect bottle. This is a perfect place to forget your troubles, the hotel is quiet and serene. read more

We stayed in room #12 on 9/9. We paid $540 for this room for one night which had promised breathtaking views and luxury amenities. We will not be returning nor recommending this resort for the following reasons We attempted to check in around 8, the website stated it was a 24 hour establishment, and the front desk was closed. Our key was in a community box left at the door with no security which was the first concern. When we called the hotel number, a sleepy person answered " hello" giving no indication of a business. When we entered the room, we found a broken fireplace, ants on our pillows, dated and damaged bathroom cabinets and broken privacy blinds. There was a thermostat glued to the wall but no air conditioning! No vent, wall unit, air intake or otherwise indication of a cooling system, there was however a fan in the closet. We did not feel safe opening a window on the first floor facing the road at night in such a secluded area - being we were traveling with a small child. Our "ocean view" room was facing the road, which sported the public parking lot, so essentially anyone could park outside our window for free and obstruct our $500 view. There were no bottles of water in the room, and the complimentary toiletries seemed to have been recycled from the last guest. There was no seal. I have provided photos of all of these statements. The mattress and sheets were uncomfortable, rough as paper and sunken in the middle, and our 4 year old who used the hand rail on the stairs got rust all over her hands due to neglected handrail paint chipping. This is by far the worst room I have ever stayed in! Waste of money and deceptive marketing , exploiting the name of Big Sur! read more

I booked a two night stay here over Labor Day weekend. My husband and I stayed in room 22. It was on the second floor with an ocean front view. The view was absolutely beautiful and definitely a highlight to the room. The room was spacious, comfortable, and had many amenities. There was a fire place in the room and the bathroom even had a jacuzzi bath tub. We used both during our stay. It was very cozy! The bed was comfortable to our liking. It was on the softer side, so it may not be ideal for everyone. The hotel offers a light continental breakfast in the morning along with coffee and tea. The staff is also very friendly and helpful. We only stayed two nights, but they came in and tidied up the room and refreshed our towels while we were out the next day. The room is also just across the the street from the walking trail so it was very easy to access. We used it often for walks along the coastline while we were there. The ONLY minor complaint we had about the room was that you could hear and see all the activity next door at the Oyster bar. They are very popular and offer live music nightly, so if you want to have your windows opened to enjoy the sound of the ocean or the fresh air, you will have to withstand all that. On Saturday night, the music didn't stop until about 10. On Sunday, the band stopped about 9:30. We had a wonderful stay here and would definitely book again! It's pricey, but worth it! read more

Room 28 was clean and neat. Office staff polite, but mostly quiet. Semi ocean view means you can see the ocean through the parking lot if you stand at the side of the room. The ocean is very close, right across the street. It's conveniently located. The bed was a little on the hard side. There was one sitting chair in the room, and one round table with two chairs. They were very sparse on towels though. Not enough for a clean towel for each time you bathe, especially for two people. Towels were adequate, but lower quality. Folded nicely. The "breakfast" is continental - cold only, yogurt, hard boiled eggs, a banana, unpeeled oranges, pastry and juice. There is an instant oatmeal and they supply hot water. There is coffee and tea offered. No hot food at all, which was a disappointment, but grateful for what we had. In room coffee machine was nice, but they were woefully sparse on the condiments for coffee like creamer (dry powder) etc. Not enough for two people for one cup of coffee. Cleaning staff did not replenish condiments when they cleaned the room. No water in the room to drink. WIFI access was good. Heat was from a gas fireplace that turns off and on all night, so if you are a light sleeper, the sound of it turning on will wake you up. It heats the room well. Hangers in the closet are a challenge to operate, esp if your vision is lower. They are afraid people will steal the hangers, so the hangers are attached to the rod, and if removed, must be re-attach by a small hook and eye type device. You are paying for proximity to the beach. Overpriced for what you got besides proximity to the ocean. I wouldn't pay to stay there again. read more

Its located along Moonstone Beach Drive, which has tons of hotels on one side of the road and a nice wooden walkway facing the ocean and beach access on the opposite side of the road. Overall, a 5-star stay. Pros: * Large, comfy and clean rooms - like a studio apartment * Fast and free wifi * Hardwood floors! * In-room microwave * Electronic fireplace to keep you warm * Next door to Sea Harvest restaurant, an excellent place for oysters Cons: * Continental breakfast is really limited - cold hard-boiled eggs, bread, pastries, cereal, and instant oatmeal. read more

Stayed at Little Sur Inn for two nights during our road trip across California. We arrived just before 9pm so we were still able to check-in easily. We got Room 28 which has a partial seaview with a king bed and gas fireplace. The room itself was very clean and cozy while the bed was really comfortable and spacious for two people. The bathroom was well maintained and big too. Breakfast was simple but was nice and will fuel you for the day. Since our room was just across the reception and breakfast area, hubby and I just opted to eat breakfast in our room. They also had ample parking for hotel guests. Moonstone beach is just across the road -- it is beautiful and not crowded. The hotel staff are friendly and helpful. The town center is just a few minutes drive from the hotel but note that most restaurants close around 9pm. Honestly, I wish we could have stayed longer and I look forward to coming back in the future. read more

Since 'discovering' Cambria in 1991, my husband and I have visited 25 times. We have stayed at most of the places along Moonstone Beach Drive. This was my 65th birthday celebration, which was clearly stated on my reservation. We've celebrated numerous anniversaries and birthdays while staying at the Blue Dolphin Inn. They ALWAYS treat us to a rich mini-cake and include a "happy anniversary" or "happy birthday" note, along with a thank you for choosing to celebrate with them. Not only did Little Sur Inn not provide a slice of birthday cake, not one person wished me a happy birthday. They aren't doing a good job of maintenance. The screen on the slider kept sticking, then it came off the track a couple of times before finally biting the dust. The patio light bulb was burned out; the lock on the slider is rusted and pitted; and the toilet seat lid was loose. We found it too hot to sleep one night. We got the little desk-top fan down from the closet shelf but it was filthy so back into the closet it went. Most people visit Cambria for 2 or 3 nights. We had booked 5 nights. Because of the pandemic, the room was cleaned before we checked in but Housekeeping would not enter our room again until after we checked out. That being the case, I was surprised to find that the bathroom was stocked with only two bath towels, two hand towels and two washcloths. More importantly, it was stocked with only two rolls of TP! I went to the Front Office ("FO") and explained to Anonymous Front Desk Woman #2 (Front Office personnel are not permitted to share their first names with hotel guests) that we'll be here five nights; that I myself often use 2 rolls of TP a day; that our room only had two rolls in it. She said, "So you want another roll of toilet paper?" I said, "I go through TWO rolls a day. We'll be here FIVE days." I bit my tongue but wanted to say, "Do I really need to do the math for you?" The toilet paper, btw, is single ply and very rough. The bathroom was also stocked with one small shampoo and one small conditioner. Again, for five nights, that just wasn't enough. We brought friends with us; they stayed at the Fogcatcher Inn. When they ran low on supplies, they simply put on a mask, walked to the Front Office and obtained more. But Little Sur Inn's protocol is that the guest must call the FO before 8:00 PM with a list of what we want; it will be left at our doorstep the following morning. That does work, but it's inefficient. Why not let us into the FO, as long as we are masked? The Front Desk is now surrounded by plexiglass, so why keep guests out? I found the hanger / closet situation annoying. The closet doors are very narrow and the closet itself is not very deep. I guess they must have a real problem with people stealing their hangers, because they have the kind of hangers that can't be stolen. I had a hard time manipulating the hangers, considering how narrow the closet doors, how shallow the closet and the fact that my hands don't work well because of arthritis. If you want a patio and a great ocean view, try room 15. I assume the room above us has an even better view, but my husband and I can't do stairs. Room 15 is noisy, though. I like the hardwood floors rather than carpet. Work table is a nice touch. read more

This place is amazing. The beds are clean & comfortable... more on the softer side with the pillows & mattresses but I like it. Rooms are very spacious and clean, linens are fresh. We got room #16 and had the view of the ocean from our window. We got the room with two queens, it also had a table with 4 chairs, TV, microwave and a fridge. No a/c in this inn but crack your windows open and the breeze is perfect. If not, they provide fans. There's also a fireplace in the room which makes it very cozy. Continental breakfast was included in our stay and it was perfect... they had Nutella! Yes. Yogurt, cereal, croissants, muffins, bread varieties, jellies, and a coffee / tea bar. Great customer service. I love this place and no doubt, I'd stay here again. Maybe splurge a little on the direct ocean view rooms that have the balcony with the outdoor seating. This is literally next door to the famous seafood restaurant people are lining up for (even before they open). Crazy. read more

Amazing views from the second floor suites. The rooms below are not too bad either, but you can't see the waves crashing on the beach like you can in the upper suites. Watching the sun set is amazing! I highly recommend staying in one of these front rooms only. The maids are very sweet and do a great job cleaning the rooms. The staff seems to change a lot, but I guess that should be expected over the last 20 years that we have been coming here. Moonstone Beach is great for surfers, photographers, young couples, and older couples. Everyone here is friendly and will give you a smile. There is plenty of places to visit or eat in the town and surrounding areas. read more

We had a night in Cambria and decided on the Little Sur Inn. It is a nice little Inn nothing fancy nothing bad, just an overall nice place. We had booked an ocean view but when we arrived there were none, its OK though we received a discount and our room was really nice, clean spacious enough for 4 ppl. As far as noise goes as in seeing in other reviews it really was not too bad even with our windows showing the parking lot, so no problem there. For breakfast just you staples of oatmeal, breads, muffins, apples, oranges & juice, cereal, yogurt, milk, enough to get you going. Right across from the beach so you can go on nice walks on evenings for a great sunset and in the morning for a great sunrise, and to hangout at the beach. A few nice restaurants in surrounding area if you want to walk somewhere and not drive. If you do decide to drive the main street of Cambria is not too far away which has nice shops and restaurants there as well. Would stay here again when ever we decide on a beach getaway and decide on somewhere in Cambria. read more

The Little Sur Inn was a great place to stay on Moonstone Beach. Our room was upstairs Ocean View room with a balcony. The room was quite pricey, but we felt that it was well worth the price. The room was very well appointed and was extremely clean. The cleaning people did a really great job. The water station and the cookies were a great touch. The only issue that we had was with the breakfast. Every day there were the same very sugary pastries and large fruit. We would have loved some toast and just plain old croissants for a change. Muffins and bagels would also be great options. Also the large fruits - apples, oranges and bananas were nice, but berries would have been better. Most days we saw very few people eating breakfast. We wound up going out to breakfast 3 of the 5 days that we were there, because we did not care for the breakfast options. read more

Very cool place! reasonably priced hotel in Cambria. Location can't be beat. Only 15 min walk to downtown West Cambria area. Only thing I didn't like was the room was very dark. It was of course foggy (like most days in Cambria) so can't do much about that. Our room was kind of a little underground like a basement. Next time I will request upper unit or room with a balcony/patio. Service was great. Continental breakfast was horrid. Don't bother with the in room coffee, Farmer Bros crap which is the cheapest of the coffees out there. Walls paper thin, just like pretty much all the hotels out there though. This is our second time staying at the Little Sur Inn and it will not be our last. We travel between LA and SF when visiting our sons and Cambria is a perfect place to stop and recharge. The Little Sur is really a nice property - spotless rooms with a very nice breakfast and just steps away from the beach - with a walkway that allows you to enjoy the view. The room had a gas fireplace and the sound of the waves is magic! For dinner, do yourself a favor and walk next door to The Sea Chest for dinner. I highly recommend this hotel and will definitely stay here on our next trip. read more

Couldn't get a good night sleep and had to constantly check out our bags make sure no roaches inside. Made our one night stay in Cambria very uncomfortable and will never return to this Inn. This was our first time here. It's a nice quaint place that's quiet. I have to say that Janet who was behind the dest was so nice and genuine. We were asking her some questions about the area as we had our continental breakfast. She came over to us and was telling us some things we might enjoy doing. She was so friendly and genuine and really seemed to care that we were enjoying ourselves. The only negative about the inn was the bed and pillows were very uncomfortable. Hard as rocks. The fireplace didn't work, and the mini fridge was noisy every time it cycled. But, it was Janet that made up for all that. read more

The Little Sur Inn was the best value and best experience I had on my mini-vacation last week, as far as hotels were concerned. A small Inn along Moonstone Beach, this place was cute, quaint, relaxing, and a great overall place to stay. The rooms are actually pretty large, well maintained, and have a fireplace, which serves as your heater. Coupled with a mini-fridge (in which they included complimentary bottled water), and a microwave, it was a little home away from home. Their dining guide in the lobby helped us to decide where to eat (in addition to Yelp reviews, of course). And the continental breakfast and late afternoon snacks were a nice touch, too. Yes, I'll agree with Don that the water pressure was poor, although that seems to be most of the Cambria area, from what I've been told. Even with the "partial ocean views", we still got a great view of the sunset, and it took maybe 20 steps to get a great view of the water. Not too shabby at all. There are a couple of restaurants within walking distance, although we didn't eat there. If I'm back in the area, I think I will probably stay here again, it was a great vacation experience. read more

First time here. Booked through Booked.com. Got a tremendous deal. Thursday and Friday night stay for about $300 tax included. King size upstairs room with partial ocean view. Very clean! Big bathroom, nice shower tile. Plenty of counter space for make up bag and toiletries. Looks like newly installed hardwood floors. I liked that- no grungy carpet! Bed has white sheets and bedspread. Bed is firm, but there is some type of fluffy-ish top on the mattress to give it a little puff. Front desk was very nice. Quick. They actually have keys, not cards and were only given one key, wanted two. The WiFi actually works and is fast. At least it was in our room, 26. Across from Moonstone beach. Next door to a restaurant that takes cash only. We didn't go because we didn't have cash. But people were lined up 45 min before opening. Must be good. read more

We stayed in Room 14 right in front. The middle room in the photo. The room was great and the property is nicely kept up. The service and the breakfast leave something to be desired. The person as the check-in was not exactly friendly but nice enough. The next day the young lady working the desk was a nightmare. We went to the front desk at 8:30am, 9:30am and 10am. We waited 15 minutes each time.... no one. We wanted to do two things. Stay another night and/or get a late check out. We then grabbed the continental breakfast which consisted of some stale pastry, hard boiled eggs, watery coffee and mini apple juice bottles??? Not exactly first class for the what we paid. How hard is it to do scrambled eggs, pancakes, and sausage? We went back to our room and called several times... no answer. Finally we got ahold of the young lady at the desk. We asked if there were rooms available for another night? A flat "no" was the answer. Not even let me check and see what we have??? We then asked for a late check out. Again the answer was "NO" followed by "it is against our rules" .... really what rules?? Where are they posted? I then mentioned we had someone in the shower and she said - "They have 30 minutes to finish and be out of the room" It half sound like a threat. It really is a nice place but the service is simply horrible. I would suggest Sea Otter, Pelican Inn, Moonstone or the Blue Dolphin. I am stayed at all of those and had great service. read more

The rooms are heated with gas fireplaces (how quaint!) and there was a small round table to sit and enjoy a cup of tea and use the laptop. The windows allow ample natural light and the bed was so comfy. The bathroom was also gorgeous and clean. The breakfast in the morning includes fresh fruit, yogurt, pastries, toast, cereals, oatmeal, coffee, tea... Its served on a darling patio and is kept meticulously clean. We also had free wi-fi and a stone throw's walk to the beach. Seriously, I wish I could live here. read more
