We went last night, so I figured it was time for an update. We arrived at around 6:30 last night (Saturday) with no reservation. We were told it would be around 45 minutes until a table would be available, so we chose to sit at the bar and have a cocktail. We were greeted immediately by Vivian who was so friendly and had a huge smile for us. We ordered 2 barrel-aged negronis and had them within about 30 seconds (we noticed the had them pre-mixed, so must be popular). The drinks were delicious, with a nice big twist of frehs orange. After about 20 minutes or so, our table wasn't ready yet so we ordered another couple of Negronis. About ten minutes later, Vivian (without being prompted) went and checked on the progress of our table (so kind). After her prompting, the table was ready in about 5 minutes. We were seated at a high-top in the bar area. Kayla came right over to greet us and took our order straight away since we had peeked at the menu while waiting. I ordered the Diavolo pizza and my husband ordered the NY striploin with mushrooms, gnocchi and arugula salad. Everything arrived quickly and was very good. The steak was a little chewy, but still very tasty. I would have preferred the pizza a little crisper, but it tasted very good. My only complaint is that I asked if I could have some raw onions added to my pizza and Kayla came back to say that the kitchen didn't have any raw onions. That seemed a little strange for a busy, Italian kitchen. We had a lovely time and were more than happy with the service. Both Vivian and Kayla were wonderful! We will be back.

Hubby ordered spaghetti with meatballs (lots of fresh basil, one huge meatball in the center of the dish) and I ordered spaghetti carbonara (Highly Recommend!). I've been to other Italian restos (Old Spaghetti Factory, Terroni, Goodfellas, Vivo Bloor, etc) and Scaddabush consistently serves up delicious meals in a quaint atmosphere (though it is on the pricier side). Our 2 spaghetti dishes were $26 each, but at 50% off, they were a steal! The spaghetti carbonara had pieces of smoke bacon, poached egg (not sure why the egg was cold) and crunchy pieces of breadcrumbs baked on top. My husband didn't like the texture of his spaghetti, but that's a personal preference thing, and his dish did have lots of fresh pieces of tomatoes. My kids ordered the $12 kids meals, which included a drink, entrée and dessert. My kids ordered the pepperoni pizza and the pasta with tomato meat sauce. The portions were just right for the 8- and 10 year-old. To top off the meal the kids created their own sundae. They got to put syrup, sprinkles and whipped cream on the ice cream as they wished. Scaddabush is a great place to meet up with friends and family. The menu is big enough that everyone will be able to find something they like.
