I do not feel like I have extremely high expectations for a restaurant, but food that doesn't taste like it should have been thrown away two days ago is pretty important to me. The service was okay, but we never received all of the food we ordered, so I had to ask them to take some items off the bill, which I absolutely hate having to do. The music was great when we first sat down, until the bartender allowed a customer to use the aux cable and play from their own playlist and, well, it certainly was not the classic rock that we had been enjoying. When I got to Marriners Inn I ordered a cheeseburger. I waited for about half an hour to 45 minutes (There were only one other party of people in the restaurant). Finally my cheeseburger came. It wasn't bad but it definitely was not the best I've had. Two things I noticed was that the cheese was shredded, and instead of asking what you want on it they put everything on the side. My friend's and I went there a few days ago and the service was horrible. We waited 15 minutes for the server to give us menus. Once we put our food orders in we waited an hour without service. The waitress did not even come to our table until we complained to another employee. We ended up leaving without any food. If your kitchen is that backed up you should tell your costumers instead of making them wait there. read more

This restaurant possibly had some of the worst food I've ever eaten. I ordered the filet mignon with a baked potato and bowl of seafood gumbo. The filet was the best part of the meal and it was decent at best. The gumbo had minimal shrimp and undercooked vegetables. On the baked potato, artificial bacon bits were used. The restaurant didn't even use real bacon. I would have given a 0 star rating if it was possible. I would recommend staying far away from this place read more

I've been a patron of Mariners since I was a teenager. I learned how to play pool on their crappy pool table back in the mid 90s, back when I used to get kicked out for being "underage." This is also the place where I started eating their "Kickin Chicken," "crabmeat and artichoke" soup, baked potato (if they weren't out) with everything, and of course, their fried mushrooms are the BEST! As I've gotten older, I still order those classics, but I do love their savory portabello mushroom burger, along with their fried portabello bites. Not EVERY meal at Mariners is perfect. Sometimes they're out of exactly what u made the trip to eat, but overall, almost everyone loves this place. It offers live music and a patio for eating outside. Def a must try if looking for a hip and classic place to hang out, listen to some music, drink some beers, and enjoy a filling meal. read more

Very good place to eat. If you have a dog with you, it's ok to eat here. They bring out a water bowl for your dog. The prices are reasonable, service fast, comfortable atmosphere. They are open late so you can order food until midnight. read more

This place was recommended to us by many people saying it was good, so I came in there with an open mind, but also somewhat a high expectation. Boy, was I disappointed. Scenery had a decent rustic feel, but without good food, that's not worth anything to me. I ordered a black and blue burger, which was a burger with a blue cheese sauce. The entire burger was so flavorless and bland, that the sauce overpowered it. The onions, pickles and lettuce, were obviously not the freshest and had a visible wilt. The meat itself, oh my, was the most dry, chalky, bland burger I have ever had the displeasure to put in my mouth. I've always come to Mariners to eat. The food is great! However, my four friends and I came today and the staff was horrible. We sat at the only large outdoor table that they had (in order to fit all of us). You could tell immediately that the waitress (red hair) was upset about it and said "did y'all just sit at this dirty table and push the stuff to the side?" After she cleared the table she never came to wipe it off she went inside to tend to other tables. I had to go ask for it to be wiped clean and she stated "oh which table are you at that dirty one that had to be cleared off?" It took about thirty minutes just to get our drink orders and when our drinks were brought out two of them were wrong. We ordered two appetizers which took way longer than they should've. When our appetizers arrived one of the two was wrong. After they brought the appetizer we finally got the two drinks that were wrong. We had five people and they brought two appetizer plates. The waitress said she'd bring more and never did. At last we got our food and are still sitting here (still waiting on the boxes we asked for twenty minutes ago). From everyone else around us getting their food I'm almost positive our food was purposely taking a long time to come out. I'm so disappointed and will most likely never be back. When we got here they weren't even slammed or anything for there to be an excuse for the terrible service and attitudes that we got today. Unbelievably frustrated....This was one of my favorite spots to hang out during the day time or night until tonight...My husband and I had one of the worst experiences we've ever had with customer service. Our apparent "server," Morgan, could not have been anymore rude! We were greeted by someone else when we first sat down and she took our drink order and brought them, then Morgan came to take our food order. Food was great, as always, yet after the food was dropped off at the table no server returned for at least 20 minutes; I've been in the restaurant/service industry for over 15 years and have always done a 2-minute check-back to see if the customers need anything else, or to find out if the food is ok....Obviously that didn't happen. After waiting to see if we could get a drink refill, we finally decided that we would go somewhere else. I proceeded to go inside to find Morgan and ask her for boxes and the check, then I went to the restroom. When I returned to the table my husband was sitting there with the boxes and proceeded to tell me that Morgan brought the table next to us boxes instead, so my husband waved her down and Morgan then said, "she already told me," and walked off. After about a minute, she returned and dropped the check in front of my husband and just stood there and stared at him. I was pulling out my wallet and told her that we would get the money together and she could come back. She then proceeded to tell me, "oh no, he had to make a scene and wave me down, even though he can see I'm busy, so I'm just gonna stand here and wait for you to pay me!" Then my husband and I started to come to our own defense and say that we couldn't get anyone's attention to even get drink refills, and she became combative. My husband asked for a manager and Morgan said, "there isn't one, you'll have to deal with me!" My husband started to come unglued ( in his defense, this situation threw us both off, we felt backed into a corner ). Our bill was $57.75, I pulled out $60 and gave it to her ( normally, I'll tip 20%, even if the service is subpar, but this was a situation I wanted to get out of ), we then proceeded to leave, as every other patron is watching us walk off like we did something wrong. My husband said, "no, I'm going to find out her name and call the manager tomorrow." He went to the bartender who was extremely sweet and understanding, and he explained what happened, even while he was shaking. She gave us a full refund and the manager's name along with the server's name, MORGAN, since it was never given to us while we were dining. I will be phoning the manager tomorrow and probably pay him a visit to explain my case...in all my years I have never been so disrespected as a customer. I just hate that I had always loved this restaurant and the atmosphere, now, my blood literally starts boiling when I hear the name, Mariner's Inn! read more

Their burgers have 90% lean ground beef. I've had two wives, both were in the restaurant industry, so I'm experienced with food. Fat gives a burger its flavor. Take away the fat, take away the flavor. It was very bland. read more

Normally I love Mariner's. It's a great place to drink, hang out with friends and the burgers are great. But today I had possibly the worst steak I have ever eaten in my life there. Ordered medium-rare, it was cooked within an inch of its life, tough and gristly. I fully intended to ask the server for another, cooked to specification this time. However, even thought the restaurant was nearly empty after the lunch crowd had diminished, she was nowhere to be seen. Service there has always been sketchy, though. When I realized no one was going to return, I pushed the plate aside with the almost untouched steak on it. When the waitress finally returned, she asked how my steak was. I replied that it was horrible, and explained why. I was fully expecting an adjustment to my bill, an offer of another steak . . . something. *crickets* Nothing was offered or taken off my bill. I did not see the owner, Bruce, on the premises or I would have spoken to him personally. But it is my opinion that if your kitchen completely overcooks a customer's steak and it goes uneaten, some recompense should be offered. That nothing was done speaks of a complacency that is not conducive to keeping customers happy. read more

this was my 2nd time eating here and i've hated it both times. the first time, we sat outside and our waitress was terrible. she was rude, slow, sarcastic, and never there. i assumed she was having a bad night so we closed the check and decided to sit inside. we sat at the bar and ordered the spinach and artichoke dip.. it was terrible. i couldn't take 2 bites. i sent it back and paid for it. the bartender was also absent majority of the time. this visit we had another bad waitress. she got our drink orders and then after she brought our alcoholic drinks she asked to see our ID's. she also brought the wrong fountain drink twice. then another lady brought our appetizers and it took forever for server to come and take our meal order. when we finally got our food the cheese on my burger was sparse, cold sprinkle cheese on a dry patty, the catfish wasn't cooked all the way on the poboy, and we asked for bbq chicken and got buffalo chicken. we ate and didn't complain. we sat around waiting for the check and boxes. i've been serving tables for a while now and i'm honestly very disappointed in this place. i was hoping the service and food would be as good as the atmosphere. if it's a saturday night and you're usually busy (especially the day before st patrick's day) maybe have more staff working with smaller sections because the servers obviously can't handle the ones the have now. read more

We had to wait an hour for our food - way too long when you're hungry and one person in your party (of 6) is a diabetic. Once it finally arrived it was pretty good for half of us. The steak was thin and had a lot of fat on it. The roast beef poboy was cold and the meat was so tough he had to use a steak knife to cut it. Even then it was hard to chew (they took that off our bill). since there was 6 of us 18% gratuity was added - but it was added after tax, so we tipped 18% on the sales tax. Service wasn't that good and did not warrant 18% (we had to get our own menus, one beverage was not served, etc.). Also the cocktail sauce for the "meh" not so good fried shrimp was frozen solid. For real! No butter on the baked potatoes - we had to ask for it. And my "side order" of sweet potato fries was $6.00! Yikes! I've eaten here plenty of times, but after today it might be a while before I visit again. read more
