The hardest working contractor team in San Rafael! TLDR; I highly recommend Jessy Maldonado Construction I recently moved into a home that needs a LOT of work, and the recent storm surge brought certain projects to a greater level of urgency. The contractor I had planned to work with went AWOL, so I went looking for other options. I came across Jessy's profile and called and left a message on a Tuesday. Jessy responded within the hour and showed up the next day for an on-site consult. I got a proposal by end of day (pricing aligned with my other contractor's bid) and his team showed up on Friday to prep the space (very thorough BTW) and began the work on Saturday. My project scope expanded and the crew worked through the next week and a half to completion until 1pm on Thanksgiving!!! The guy(s) arrived onsite on time or earlier and Jessy and his wife/ business manager Lucrecia came by at least once a day to check in. They were also accessible by phone or text anytime and very organized in their billing/ invoicing, plus truly a pleasure to work with. I will definitely be working with Jessy again. read more

I wouldn't hire them. it's the homeowners responsibility to follow the rules for construction but the contractor should know too. There are hours you can start and hours to finish. They are working two hours ahead of time allowed. I know this seems petty but the continuing flaunting of construction rules gets tiresome. I spoke with homeowners but they ignore our request. Also their vehicles are blocking our driveway. There is plenty of street parking so this is just rude. read more

I called Jessy about a mystery leak that was coming through my bathroom walls. He came right away, gave a reasonable estimate to diagnose the problem and was back the next morning (Saturday)! His team overcame challenging access issues and traced the leak to a broken gasket under the toilet. They fixed the problem for just a bit more than the diagnosis estimate and left the workspace nice and clean. They're coming back in 2 weeks to repair and paint the water damaged walls. We highly recommend Jessy Maldonado Construction. We recently contracted with Jessy for two projects in our San Anselmo house. One was a remodeling job to remove a stone corner hearth and wood stove in our living room. The work included demolition, new drywall on portions of the wall and ceiling, roof repair, installation of new hardwood flooring to match existing flooring, and painting. The second project was to replace rotting exterior siding and framing on the back of our house and to repair the outside stairs to our back deck. From initial contact to project completion, everything went smoothly. Jessy and his crew always showed up exactly as promised and kept to the agreed-upon schedule. The work took a total of 10 consecutive days, and Jessy came by several times each day to monitor the work and keep us informed of the progress. His communication was outstanding. And so was the work of his crew, all of whom were congenial and conscientious. Needless to say, much of the inside work was messy, but they did their best to isolate the work area to keep the dust contained; and at project end, Jessy sent a housekeeping crew to thoroughly clean not just the work area, but also the adjacent rooms. We can't say enough about effectiveness of this contractor. I'm a commercial interior designer and have remodeled our home three times in 26 years. This is the first contractor who ALWAYS shows up when he says he will, honors his pricing, keeps a super clean job site, and has professional, thoughtful staff and sub-contractors. If I text him regarding the project, he answers usually within minutes and if I have questions, he replies: I'll be over there in an hour. Who does that these days? He is good to his staff. They love to work and if they get on a roll, they will stay late to finish if it's ok with us. They work Saturdays without hesitation. They drive the process rather than me having to drive them. He also has a designer's eye and has great suggestions for solutions. I was considering just painting our cinderblock fireplace and he suggested smooth stucco inside and out that was very cost effective and looks like beautiful plaster/concrete. Jessy and his team are hard-working, trustworthy, and extremely knowledgeable. They did so many different projects. Cleaning out the attic: re-routing the wires, installing bathroom fan vents, replacing filthy insulation, installing light. Installing a French drain in a horseshoe pattern going all around the house and out to the street (tested with heavy rain and it works GREAT). Mounted mirrors, medicine cabinets, shelving and it was always level. Repaired the leaking pipes under my house and hooked up water to the refrigerator ice maker.
