I have recently come back to the area for work after 12 years away, so this was a very surprising new spot that is a hidden gem. Basically, it's got the footprint of an old motel, where the doors face outward, and refurbished all the rooms, renovations for them were really nice, and the bathrooms were also quite nice. Beds were cozy, the old AC units (window) worked well for the summer heat. Upon checking in, Jessie was super friendly and helpful. I saw about 15 colleagues drinking in the bar area, but since I arrived late I chose to go to my room. I found out that I didn't have a "do not disturb" sign available, and Jessie was kind enough to volunteer to walk it to my room and place it on the door for me. The extra mile was appreciated there. After our meeting, we always ended up in the bar/restaurant area which is set up quite nicely. Higher end, lots of bourbon and other booze available. One night I had one of their parm truffle fries with black garlic aioli that someone ordered and it blew my mind. Wednesday night I met some colleagues there for drinks after a long couple days of meetings. Brittany, Lo, Katie and Shay took care of us and made sure everyone had everything we needed. I overindulged but ordered my own set of truffle parm fries and they brought out enough for us to have our own dipping cups. It's that extra mile, again showing up. Service and hospitality are truly what makes this place special. The food, great! When I was checking out, Mary was kind enough to provide me with a physically printed receipt for the "receipt Nazis" when they need a copy for filing. She was helpful and answered my questions. I hope we have a rate for this spot moving forward. It's off the beaten path from the main strip, but right off the BGP. Can't miss it! Support these small owned businesses!

The hotel looks good on the website, but looks can be deceiving…read more First, this "new" hotel is a reskin of a vintage Holiday Inn motel, the sort where every room opens to the outside (no interior hallways). In May that isn't a huge deal but I don't know that I'd want to stay here in the winter or the fall. YMMV. Because it is an old motel, the rooms are very small, much smaller than they look in the photos. Dark and dingy, too. Vintage wall AC units. In contrast, the interior common area is quite large and more modern. It houses the restaurant, the main bar, and a few secondary rooms. The outdoor pool is large and has extensive seating. There is also a lift to get in to the pool for those with a disability, but it is quite vintage. The bar has a good bourbon list and small bites. The restaurant is just OK. Fine for a hotel but nothing notable. Staff was very friendly. I would be very careful to watch prices when booking this hotel. I booked in February for a May stay, and was charged over $300 a night. This is not a $300 a night hotel. If I was paying closer attention, I could have cancelled a week before and rebooked for $150 a night. You have been warned! Accessibility note If you use a wheelchair, as I do, I would not recommend staying here, for two reasons. As mentioned above, rooms are small - barely enough space for a wheelchair to navigate. The roll in shower, in particular, is very very tight and I ended up not using it. The other issue is bed height - they are extremely tall beds, the tallest I've encountered. I was able to work with the staff to have the platform removed, so that the box spring was on the floor, and that helped. Staff was friendly and helpful, but still, there's no reason for such tall beds. If you are not wheelchair bound, but of a modest height, you may still find the beds a challenge.

The vibe and decor is an eclectic mix of yesteryear meets modern, bright and airy! It's a perfect blend! The new owners are still ongoing their projects of updating many things; yet it seems as if everything has already been done! There has been no detail left out! It's spic and span CLEAN from top to bottom! Super Cleanliness is a big PLUS for me! The breakfasts are absolutely SCRUMPTIOUS! The presentation in the Dining room is where the experience starts! Best of wishes to you on the rest of your Journey! I have just a couple of tips for anyone traveling here. You need to physically type in the address into your GPS. If you don't, you'll end up like me driving in circles in some of the most beautiful farmlands and rolling hills I've ever seen! That part was great, but, you may panic, like I did! The location is very easy to pass right by it and end up doing this. However, it was because I spoke my GPS instead of actually typing in the address. Also, if you should have any physical limitations, be aware that there are stairs down to the patio and then of course if you're staying in a room on the upper level, there are stairs. This is an Historic home and there are no elevators. Also, be prepared for a lot of winding roads in the areas between Bardstown and Loretto. The roads themselves are beautiful, but there are so many people that live there that drive SO FAST around those curves, that I was truly frightened a couple of times. I suppose the locals know the roads and they're not concerned. I hope someone in the City Council, or the Mayor, becomes concerned, and SOON. Better to advice their residents to cool it on these roads before someone dies a tragic death here. I hate to write that but I don't want anyone harmed on the roads of Loretto, KY. I can't believe the local law enforcement doesn't seem concerned about this.

Second time at the Kentucky Cooperage for a tour and it was as good as the first…read more The tour first starts at their welcome center. Make sure to take pics of everything there because photos are not allowed on the tours. After a short video, you climb into a bus and are shuttled over to the plant, where the tour officially begins. You first walk into the barrel raising room where the smell of fresh milled wood hits you. It's easy to see from the start that spirits get a ton of flavor from the barrels when you walk in and catch a whiff. After a short demonstration of raising, they walk you to what I consider the highlight of the tour, the char station. 6 barrels are loaded at a time, gas burners are inserted inside the barrel and for an undisclosed number of seconds, fire is applied to the inside. They are still on fire as they move to the next station where they are doused and put out. It's a spectacle I wish could be videoed because it's amazing. From there, a short demonstration on the art of cooperage and then outside for a photo stop. Overall a great tour with tons of knowledge about bourbon and spirits. If you are looking for something outside of distilleries, make a stop here. You won't be disappointed.

Cody…read morepersonally called ahead to check on our safety and confirm whether we would still be able to make it. Fortunately, we were only about 10 minutes away and arrived without any issues. After checking in and entering our room, I immediately noticed that Cody had already turned the heat on, ensuring the room was warm and comfortable upon arrival. This thoughtful gesture made a great first impression and was especially appreciated by my wife. Cody truly went above and beyond what we expected, and that level of customer care makes a huge difference when traveling. I would highly recommend Lincoln Lodge to anyone traveling to or through the Hodgenville, Kentucky area. We will absolutely stay again.
