Great hotel option in the heart of bourbon country. The food was great. Don't forget to find the speakeasy. Hotel rooms are nice and pool even has a bar. Forgot to take a picture of dinner. Breakfast was wonderful and very reasonably priced for the quality and serving size. Staff is friendly and accommodating.

This hotel is an amazing example and of how an old hotel can be given new life! I understand that this hotel was formerly a Holiday Inn but has been completely transformed! A new entrance at the back of the former building gives an upscale, open space where you can check in or go into the inviting restaurant area. The common spaces are beautiful and welcoming but most importantly the rooms are well appointed and very comfortable. We look forward to staying here again. I love our view from the 2nd floor over the pool area.

This is definately a 5 star hotel. The staff were outstanding. The food was amazing. The accommodations are unbelievable. This is definately a stop that is highly recommended and we will be back.

We LOVED staying here. The place itself was such a unique and well-done concept. The staff was exceptionally accommodating and really made sure we had the best time possible. Norma (the Bourbon Butler) & Bubba went out of their way to give us the perfect Kentucky experience. The food was great! Definitely make sure to get into the speakeasy if you visit. A bourbon lovers dream but definitely enjoyable for non-bourbon drinkers as well. We'll absolutely be back !

    CHARRED STEAKHOUSE CAESAR SALAD

If you're a steak lover searching for your next go-to spot, look no further than The Trail Hotel Restaurant. This place doesn't just serve steak--it elevates it. The Trail Hotel Restaurant delivers on every front--food, service, and atmosphere. Whether you're a local or just visiting the Bourbon Trail area, this is a spot worth seeking out. I'll definitely be returning.

Best Old Fashioned we've ever had, you just gotta find the speakeasy first!

Once seated we were given some recommendations by our sever, Bethany, who did an excellent job of taking care of us. So we ended up ordering the Pulled Pork Platter & Shrimp & Grits. Our meals arrived in short order & everything was outstanding. Our only complaint was the acousticss were pretty awful which made carrying on a conversation a little difficult but I suppose there isn't much that can be done about that. All in all we were more than happy with our experience & we will absolutely return again in the future.

The shepherds pie was just okay. Green fried tomatoes were fine, but missing the mark on the sauce. We ordered a special, souvlaki chicken. It was two skewers of really small, burnt and overcooked chicken with peppers on a bed of what tasted like microwaveable rice. Totally missing the seasoned and bright-herbaceous mix of olive oil, lemon juice, garlic, and oregano. Just go to the bar. Find some other place for dinner.

When we…read morefirst arrived, we were charmed by the historic feel of the place and also pleased with the amenities. Nice bathroom and furnishings. The owners added hospitality by having a full coffee service, snacks, and some cereal for a light breakfast. The house is also right on the central circle in Bardstown, so walking to restaurants was very convenient. However, this house is right on the main thoroughfare in Bardstown, and less than 50 ft from the road. The constant traffic noise made it very difficult to sleep, as the bed is located right next to the window facing the street. On Saturday, the noise was constant until after 2:30 am and on Sunday the noise did not abate until after 12:30 am. Each morning the noise started again about 6 am. This was a constant barrage of loud mufflers, pickups and diesel trucks. There is also a traffic light out on the street so we heard these noisy vehicles accelerating from the light. If you have an issue with noise at night I recommend that you investigate other properties. This room, with taxes and fees, was over $200 per night and I don't feel we got that type of value

The room was fantastic…read morewith comfortable accommodations and I slept well after an initial adjustment period to the street noise below my window. I was in the upstairs corner Lincoln Suite and the stone walls are thick and several layers of draperies contribute to the quietude. Although the building is old, many modernized remodels have been completed. However, do not expect an up-to-date type space. For example, there is a slight step up into the bathroom. The door to the room also rattled whenever someone else closed a door elsewhere .... Or maybe that was Lincoln's ghost? I was too tired to fret about it and slept well. Would recommend staying here at least once for a unique experience. Breakfast was included in the room rate. Menu is in the room to contemplate ahead of time. Went down to the dining area prior to my check out and had a nice dining experience. Ordered the Traditional Breakfast option and it was well prepared and satisfying, so overall also a great value. There is also a Keurig coffeemaker in the room. Staff are all very welcoming and proficient. Parking was free next to the property.

We had looked at the historic rooms at the nearby Tavern (our reason for visiting), but decided not to take our chance on stairs we'd have to negotiate to get to a room. However, the Inn has a very large and convenient elevator, so that's the place we chose. (Note: the elevator is very slow...but what's the rush?) The reception desk and area is small but adequate with odds and ends of tchotchkes for sale. Receptionist was very polite. Our room was spacious! And...I mean bigger than the photos represent and much larger than we imagined. Large comfy bed, plenty of soft and medium pillows, fridge, microwave, chairs to lounge, relax, or read. Complementary bottles of water, coffee and coffee maker. All nice touches. And thermostat was easy to adjust. Bathroom was fine, clean, well-stocked with one notable exception, which we find in nearly every hotel we stay in these days: No towel rods to hang wet towels or wash cloths. That is, except one hook high up on the back of the bathroom door. (Virtually out of reach for my wife. We find this an unreasonable inconvenience in all our travels....(so only a half point deduction here.) Windows provided beautiful views of the square and were seemingly well-insulated....so no terrible traffic noises to keep us awake during the night. (OK...A few trucks in the morning, but not too early.) All-in-all we give this lodging very high marks and our solid recommendation. Oh, and very reasonably priced to boot!

We turned up the AC unit, thinking it would get rid of the dampness, but it made it worse -cold & moist! The toilet paper was hard to get off the roll due to the humidity. I'm not overly picky but every aspect of this experience was just barely okay. The room was clean enough. The bed sheet was sideways and inside out which is a problem for a king size bed. We had to remake it. The blow dryer was encrusted and sticky. The mattress was okay but not great and the bed frame was cheap and extremely creaky. The towels were the cheapest possible. We couldn't move the shower head from its position. There was an aftermarket bidet (yup you read that right) which was appreciated and the tv service offered many choices which was good. It is a short walk to downtown which was nice. You get what you pay for.
