So this spot came highly recommended from my good Northern Virginian folks!! This pizza house has been around for a minute (a while). They are known for their squared Sicilian slices, and Steak n Cheese subs. Hold up...Carvel Ice Cream & Cake shop in in here too!! Remember them? Let's GO!! . Where I am: @mariospizzahouse1957 @carveldc . Both Locations Reviewed: 3322 Wilson Blvd., Arlington V.A. . Menu Includes: Mario's; Craft Pizzas,Subs, Chicken Tenders, Jalapeño Poppers, Mozzarella Sticks, Onion Rings, Fries, Garlic Bread, a Caesar Salad, Burgers, Hot Dogs & bottled Beverages. Carvel; Sundaes, Ice cream cakes, Ice Cream, Milkshakes, & Cake. . Items Reviewed: Carvel; Their Large Sundae (with Caramel, Whip Cream, & a Cherry $7.59). STAMP!! Soft serve vanilla ice cream & hot caramel...WINNING!! Mario's; Their Medium Supreme Pizza (with onions, Green Peppers, Mushrooms, Sausage, & Pepperoni $27.99). STAMP!! The toppings were fresh & piled high, the crust was crispy, & the sauce & cheese blend complimented everything!! Their Fries ($5.99). DELICIOUS. They were hot, & tasty...I didn't even add salt n pepper!! Their Steak n Cheese (12 inches with provolone, grilled onions, & mayo $20). ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS!! Meaty, & cheesy...this sub was appetizing w/o my beloved green peppers in it!! It HIT!! . Customer Service: Swift (Know what you want to order). . Online Navigation: Simple, Self Explanatory . Parking: Lot Parking . Recommendations: Everything I got above. =STAMP =A.DELICIOUS =DELICIOUS =DECENT =PASS =NAH #Bigschlimsreviews

It took about 5 mins, but it showed the love in what he creates. I went specifically for the deep dish. It did not disappoint. The cheese pulled was very impressive. The crust was deliscious. Tomato sauce on top. Hmmm hmmm hmmm!!! My friend had the Detroit style. The crust had like a parmesan crust and you could tell the difference between the Chicago and Detroit. I did not see the Nonna, but I did take home a small new York thin. It was good as well, but I will stick with the Chicago or Detroit when I go again.. I will be going again. The strawberry cheese cake..there are no words to describe. I did not talk at all while eating this whole meal. Back to the cheesecake. It comes in a cup, with fresh strawberry on top. Thick and creamy with a Graham cracker bottom crust. I was so waiting to try this restraunt and so glad I did. Worth the trip to DC from manassas. Definitely an experience and one I will be doing again and most definitely again.

Paccis looks like a small family owned Jersey Italian spot tucked inside a classic Capitol Hill brick home so of course you gotta try it. You and your girlfriend sit down and immediately the couple in the corner seated next to you pipes up about good timing because you just missed the sunset glaring through the window. This fella keeps flapping his jaw the whole time. Even to the elderly couple cross the room. Ok so maybe I was part of the problem but whatever. Anyway it feels like home. They eat there all the time, so that's a good sign. Good people. Which is good because the food is good too and You don't want bad ambiance to detract from a great meal. Oh and did I mention the couple who sat next to us after that were speaking Italian and sharing pizza and pasta? Paccis is certified FOOD: So oh yeah they serve food here too right. Let's talk about it. Me and the girlfriend love to share everything because why come to a delicious restaurant and only try one dish? Fuggedaboutit! We're sampling over here. She starts with a Hugo spritz that apparently is a "girliepop fave" which I might deserve jail time for typing those words but whatever sue me she liked the drink ok? Antipasti: We tried the eggplant fritti which was delicious. Also shared the beet salad. Also delicious. But I will say that we eat a lot of arugula salads and dry arugula even with all the toppings can be a little rough and I'd love if it was lubed up with a tiny bit of olive oil. Anyway don't hesitate to try either of these. Entrees: Buccatini alla carbonara was awesome. Creamy/cheesy, nice bite through the pasta, and that cured meat or whatever it was. We also had the chicken Marsala which was delicious but if you don't already know, don't ask how it's made so delicious because it's basically all butter and cream. Anyway pasta and sauce and chicken we're all delicious. Desert: Especially in an Italian restaurant this is almost always an automatic tiramisu for me but this time we decided to go with something different. The girlfriend loves a lemony dessert so we tried the limoncello cake. She loved it and I liked it. I would say get it if you're a lemon fan. And bada boom bada bing that's your review. Highly recommend!

That month I had started Uber driving, was in this area of DC, had heard good things about Wiseguy, and decided to eat here. Although I don't like paying to park just to simply eat a meal, I sometimes will make an exception for convenience and/or if it's a place I really want to go. But for the most part, I'll go to restaurant where they have free parking or at least I can find free parking near the restaurant. I remembered getting a parking spot very close and feel like I feed the meter like 50 cents in 2014 parking prices for a quick 30 minute meal. They have all kinds of varieties of slices from the standard toppings or just cheese to fancy ones. Although the pizza is fairly thin, but average for New York style pizza. I tried Andy's Pizza 11 years later in 2025, and while it was solid although not as good as Wiseguy, my real complaint with Andy's was that the pizza is very thin, where I was hungry very soon later; so a much worse value as pricing is comparable to Wiseguy. Wiseguy slices are big, and the pizza is top notch New York style. I went to this location a couple of more times after my initial August 2014 visit as I loved the pizza. Then, they opened up other locations. I went to Navy Yard one at least twice, once after a Nationals baseball game after a disappointing loss for my 4th favorite baseball team, Texas Rangers. Sorry Nats fans, but Nats are in my bottom 10 teams. I also went to Rosslyn & Pentagon City location, where parking isn't quite as bad. They even had a Wheaton Mall food court location, which I got to experience once, but they sadly closed. Every experience with Wiseguy has been positive.

Premium toppings. Fresh, plentiful, great quality. We ordered both well done and received a nice crispy edge on the crust but with all the toppings it's damn near impossible to get a strong enough base to avoid bend. It's worth the compromise- trust me! Both were delicious but I'll skip the detroit crust next time, and there will be a next time. For me the detroit crust was a bit spongy and had a slight yeast taste. Not enough to ruin the experience but enough for me to choose a different crust next time. We also got the ranch for dipping - new experience. That too wasn't for me. The ranch is homemade and great texture and flavor just not what I expected. It had a heavy dill flavor...yep...dill. Again, tasty but, for me, this is more for veggies than pizza. All in all, looking forward to trying other pizzas. Check them out.

My biggest pet peeve about NY style pizza places is that it's impossible to snag a hot slice out of the oven. When the pipping hot pizza is taken out of the oven, it's tucked under the display case. By the time the pizza pie is depleted from the display case, the hidden pizza gets cold as it's finally moved up. The cycle repeats itself...so you can never get a hot fresh slice of pizza. The Garlic Knots were hands-down the best part of my oil! I wish I could order a single knot as I didn't really want 3 knots. While the Chicken and Eggplant Parm are heavily promoted on flyers at the tables, I didn't see them on the menu, it would have been helpful to see before ordering. There's plenty of seating upstairs.
