DO NOT EAT HERE. Cleanliness has dwindled down to disgusting lows. Prior to our current situation(pandemic) my mother attempted get one of her FAVORITE subs from Mario's. After placing her order at the window, she eventually left after watching someone sit in a chair, within the cooking/prep area, clean out his nose. He then proceeded to take out trash and then went to prepare her order without washing his hands. SIDEBAR: Barbicide Certification should have BEEN a part of the restaurant/fast food industry protocol. Nope. We used to love Mario's and decided to order since we have not order in a few years. We ordered two cheesesteaks, a chicken cheesesteak, and a slice of pizza. Love this place! A coworker turned me on to it while complaining about missing cheesesteaks. Not the best location or prettiest but the food is great. I always get a cheese steak with onion rings and a half and half. Great portions and again delicious. My coworker gets the fish platter and raves about it. I am amazed! I moved to Anacostia in 1970 when I was working at the Navy yard. I was young and single, and I used to stop at Mario's once or twice a week on the way home from work. It was a hole-in-the-wall with outstanding pizza and subs. I moved away in 1975. I happened to look at this Yelp listing today, and it's like a time warp! In this world of constant change, how many businesses can say they haven't changed in a half century.
