Ordered for delivery; a chicken parm sandwich (panuzzo)... Just the outside bread came, no chicken, no sauce, nothing... an empty sandwich.... Literally empty...

10/10 recommend! Whether it's dining in or taking out (or ordering a surprise birthday treat for my dad while I was living on the opposite coast), our experience is always incredible. The team at Mario's makes us feel like family. And the food reminds us of our time in NYC - we've tried the chicken parmesan, spaghetti and meatballs, side salad, and of course, pizza. Everything is delicious! The pasta is the perfect texture, the meatballs homemade, the pizza is somehow thin and crispy while also being fully loaded and filling, and the salad veggies are crisp and fresh. When we are looking for a delicious, inviting experience, Mario's rises to the top of the list.

Good Italian food can be hard to find, especially with the many restaurants offering classic American-Italian favorites like Spaghetti w/ Meatballs or Lasagna. But for a very reasonable price, one can "finely dine" thanks to Mario's. I generally manage cooking in my household, but when my wife says "what did you plan for dinner?" I almost always recognize that as a request to get out. In this case we ordered in (shout out to DoorDash), and were pleasantly surprised at the incredible flavor of our selections. I had the Lasagna w/2 meatballs added on the side and it was hands down the best I've had in years! Rich, but not overwhelming, with just the right amount of meat, cheese and sauce to satisfy any appetite. My meal was followed by a luscious slice of carrot cake - a personal favorite. It too was outstanding! My wife chose the Spaghetti w/Meatballs, and a slice of FudgeCake, both of which she said were exceptional. Her only complaint was that the Spaghetti (and lasagna too) had a bit too much grease in them. It can be seen in the photos. Nothing a little paper towel can't manage but that won't remove the grease one can't see, and certainly not enough to have lost a star! Mario's Italian Grill just became a new haunt for me. However, next time I'll dine in. Wednesday night special is 2 pasta dinners, salad and dessert for $39.95.

I was looking for some Italian food to carry out for a Sunday/fun day afternoon in the park. Mario's Itallian grill was close, so I decided to give it a try. It was tucked away in a little strip plaza. The inside was rather small but clean and quaint. I ordered a chicken avocado salad and the lasagna for my husband. I called in my order and was told it would take 15 minutes. When I arrived after 15 minutes my food was ready. The chicken avocado salad had fresh sliced avocado, melted cheese, sweet onions, tomatoes, grilled chicken, and lettuce with your choice of dressing. The lettuce, tomatoes, onion and avocado were very fresh. The chicken seemed like it had been reheated a few times. It tasted ok, but would have been better with fresh grilled chicken and fresh grated cheese, vs. Melted cheese stuck to everything. The prices are very reasonable for the portion size offered. My salad was $12. The menu has all the classic Italian pasta dishes, pizza, salads, sandwiches, burgers, gyros and dessert. I would go back just to try more traditional Italian fare.

During a late night at my old office, preparing for another live event, we were there long enough to need to order dinner. We used Uber Eats to have Mario's delivered. We ordered cheesy bread, a Margarita pie, pepperoni pie, and one with bacon, mushrooms, and black olives. All pies were ordered with full toppings but two of them showed up looking like a half and half with only toppings on half and cheese only on the other side!! It was very odd. The Margarita was super garlicky. The pepperoni pizza was definitely my favorite as I don't eat mushrooms or olives, so I stayed away from that pizza. All of my co-workers and myself were satisfied, so Mario's is definitely A-OK in my book.

It was one of those moments when they told us they were full, but two people left the bar at the same time. We were so lucky! So many people were waiting. We started off with Mai Tai's and they were delicious! The bar stools were super comfortable and the entire restaurant was beautiful. We shared a shrimp roll as an appetizer and it was incredible. We also loved the fries that garnished it; they were almost like a hash brown. We also shared a pasta with ricotta that was incredible. We ended the evening with a gin drink that was featured on the menu. So glad we were able to eat here!

Obstinate Daughter had been on my Charleston-area dining wishlist for quite some time and judging…read moreby how difficult reservations were to secure, I was clearly not alone. Despite being ready when reservations opened, the best we could manage was a lunch reservation. No worries though because lunch at Obstinate Daughter is better than no Obstinate Daughter at all. We were able to find parking in the neighborhood and had a short walk to Middle Street. From the moment we entered the establishment, I understood the hype. Our server, Sara H., was wonderful throughout the entire meal and we kicked things off with cocktails: the Abandon Ship and All Hands on Deck. Both were excellent and set the tone for what turned out to be one of the best meals of our trip - and there were a lot of highlights!!! I also ordered the Tuna Crudo special, which was incredibly fresh and a great way to start my meal. For the table, we shared the Local Lettuce Salad, the Farro with Chicken, and the Moultrie Pizza. Everything was seriously fantastic. The Local Lettuce Salad was simple but executed perfectly with croutons, parmesan, egg, and buttermilk vinaigrette. The Moultrie Pizza, topped with pepperoni, Mepkin Abbey shiitake mushrooms, tomato, mozzarella, and parmesan, disappeared quickly. And the true star of the meal for me was the Farro with Chicken. The combination of Brussels sprouts, peanuts, balsamic, black truffle, and perfectly cooked chicken was absolutely incredible. If I lived nearby, I would order this dish again and again without hesitation. Considering the restaurant's location on Sullivan's Island and its well-earned reputation, I also thought the prices were relatively reasonable. I loved the vibes. It was packed but the service never wavered. This meal was so, so, so, so, so good. In fact, if we could have snagged another reservation during the same trip, I absolutely would have returned. The hype is real. Obstinate Daughter is worth it!
