We shared a small antipasti salad, a slice of Sicilian pizza, carbonara pasta (which came with 2 garlic knots and a side salad) and tiramisu. Plenty of food plus 2 beers were about $45 before tipping. The salad and pasta were really good. Didn't love the pizza; it was so barely sauced it was a bit dry. We made the mistake of dining in. I didn't mind the causal decor but the pizza was served on a paper plate and the utensils were plastic. No idea why Yelp thinks I'm complimenting the ambience. I'm not, lol, but I can't deselect it. Mario's has just relocated to a new location across the street from the old one. They did a wonderful job on the building. Their food has always been good and there are many additions to the menu. Best pizza in New Bern and we're from NJ where they know how to make it. The ambience is the best of their relocation. The only negative thing about Mario's is you have to order up front as there is no table ordering. They do now deliver the food to you as opposed the getting it yourself. Unfortunately the food doesn't get to your table all at once, so you don't eat together in many instances. read more

Stopped in for lunch. We ordered a small pie and a beverage. We pay and card machine asks if we want to leave a gratuity. Why? We do all the work? We pick up the order at the counter. We have to get our own condiments. Speaking of condiments. When we brought our pizza to the table to eat, my wife asked me to get the jar of garlic powder. When I went to their condiment station, the row labeled garlic had. I jar there. I asked behind the counter, where is the garlic. The counter person replied that they don't know. I then asked, well can I get some please? He said he is new and will have to check with the kitchen staff. He came back with a plastic container and said there would be a charge. Why? I saw a post on Instagram advertising their chicken piccata, so we drove right over on Friday and gave it a try. Wow! It was delicious! I highly recommend. I've ate here multiple times and it's been nothing but absolute perfection. But what drove me to write this review is because today I got to try an Italian pastry made by a pastry chef from Sicily. Ordered a pizza for pickup and paid in the app. Waited in line for 20 minutes to pickup a pizza that was sitting getting cold while the front counter ladies fumbled to find everyone's orders and tell everyone how their boss steals all of their credit card tips. Pizza is generally good but they need some management on busy nights. I won't be going back. read more

We ordered 2 slices of pizza with extra cheese and an eggplant parmesan dinner. 1)The pizza was not hot and had not enough sauce and extra cheese. The pizza tasted terrible and the crust tasted like cardboard with a shipping label glued on it..!!! 2)The eggplant dinner was also terrible and inedible!! The cheese on top was burnt which made it tasteless and charred; the eggplant was under cooked and too tough to eat; dinner lacked enough sauce to at least make the eggplant at least a little palatable.. The spaghetti was overcooked and stale; it was not served hot except for the hot spicy sauce which we did not order. I've had pizza from all over the world. The best I've had was in the Mediterranean, and this place had surpassed expectations. My husband and I got three slices total. I went with the mushrooms because I'm a mush fanatic. I couldn't put it down. The crust was crisp and cheese perfect temperature. I've lived in New Bern for four years and never tried because of the poor reviews. My husband kept raving about how Amazing it was so finally decided to come. By far the best pizza place in town. First time trying this place as my usual spot is closed on Sundays. We ordered the fresh basil, romano, tomato pizza and 10 hot wings with ranch. So, the pizza isn't what we expected (mostly a lot of sauce, basil, and grated dry romano (not melted) but it was really great. Crust was a bit dry. Will try their cheese pizza for a better understanding. The wings were nice and very spicy. Issue was they put the ranch dressing underneath the wings so it's covered in sauce and looks gross. With delivery it was $30, plus I tipped. Kinda pricey for a pizza and 10 wings. Sad the pizza was cold though, maybe an issue with the sauce being exposed without melted cheese? I placed an order on my way home from work when I noticed the $4.99 calzone and Stromboli special posted on your Facebook page. I ordered 2 calzones and 1 Stromboli and also confirmed the $4.99 special with the woman on the phone. My wife picked up our order and was charged extra for chicken in the calzone as well as 75 cents each for cups of sauce. How can you serve a calzone or Stromboli and not include sauce? I would of appreciated a heads up when ordering that sauce and certain toppings are extra. I'm not one to argue over a few dollars, but charging customers extra for different toppings and cups of sauce is a little ridiculous. What was supposed to be a "Thursday Night Special", turned in to a regular priced order from Mario's. My calzone looked good but was filled with fake grilled chicken that you get pre-cooked in a bag. The worst customer experience at a restaurant ever. The entire staff lacks manners and common sense. All the workers there curse at all customers. I just witnessed a guy coming to get his order and hour before closing, and they staff told him "I'm not making your order F#$! Off" this place does not deserve to be in business. Horrible food, horrible hygiene, horrible people, horrible service. come here only if you're a fan to be harassed for free and pay 3x the amount of a regular crappy pizza. I went back after a long interval to buy a pizza to take home. To say I was disappointed is little. Everything about the place reeks of incompetence. The order taker cashier was indifferent and talking on the phone taking orders while a line was waiting to order. She made a mistake in charging me which was rectified after I complained. The order took forever but only because they forgot to call me when it was ready so my pizza was cold. When I got it home, I could hardly eat it it as it was really almost as bad as Papa John's so I threw it out. A price of $16 was not worth it. A Red Baron frozen pizza by Comparison is a gourmet meal. Unless you like mediocre pizza, avoid this place like the plague. read more

Not worth the headache for Pizza and Not Professional at all. I ordered a pizza and sides. The order was delivered with the pizza and sides we didn't order. After about 2 minutes the delivery guy returned and told me that they gave us the wrong sides and would be back with the correct sides. After an hour I called back to find out if he was on his way. He speaks with some asking about my order. She responds by saying, since we opened the side there was nothing they could do. And said I wanted an hour to say something.
