Officially never eating at Mario's again I just got such an unappetizing steak sub and when I went to say something to the "owner" politely he started and argument with me saying "how was he supposed to feel that's his number one seller" and proceeded to argue with me in such a rude and unprofessional way and I reminded him that he is in the customer service industry and that he doesn't have to always agree with customers opinions but you don't argue with them about it. I didn't take a bite out of it because 1. It looked nasty and the meat looked old 2. I didn't want to not get my money back because I had eaten some of it. A customer sitting across from me said that she also thought it was poorly made and that I should ask for my money back. He kept on saying "how is that supposed to make me feel!?" And I told him I don't care about his feelings, that this isn't how you treat your customers he didn't even offer to remake my sandwich and said he wasn't giving me any money back either. I asked for his name he claimed to be the owner not sure if that's true but if it is this so called restaurant has gone to shit. I asked for his name and it's mostly illegible. I didn't appreciate this experience especially when this is where my mom decided to go for her birthday lunch. Thanks Rosario. **update he is the owners son.**

For the amount of food you get for the price, it would deserve a 4 star. For a very large slice of pizza it is only $2.50, and each additional topping is .50 cents. Toppings are a little pricey, but a plain cheese pizza slice price isn't that bad. Now, taking in consideration the quality of pizza... my rating drops significantly. For a freshly made to order pizza I was hoping the flavor would be better. It had a ton of grease on it with a few slices of pepperoni. Personally, I like a crisp pepperoni - these ones were sopping in grease. The crust was soggy where cheese was but rock solid on the edge. Overall, I would unfortunately opt for a chain pizza such as Dominos, Pizza Hut, etc., before here again in Havelock.

We ordered out while in town and I couldn't be more disappointed. We were looking forward to the pizza since we were told they had good food. Nothing about this pizza was fresh. The mushrooms were from a can. The middle of the pizza was soggy. I felt horrible throwing away half the pizza but I couldn't eat anymore. Pizza was recommended but fell way below standards. Toppings were canned and pizza was soggy and cold when we got it at the specified ready time. I'm almost fifty and have had pizza all over the place and this is the worst pizza I've had that I can remember. Frozen generic pizza is better and that ain't saying much since I don't eat that. PIZZA IS Great! Thin crust, good sauce, but not much sausage. I got a 14" for lunch and it was NY Style, cooked thru! But poor hubby! He ordered the "Dinner Special" Spaghetti & Meatballs. He got a cup of spaghetti, sauce and a HALF of a Meatball....!!! Don't call it MEATBALLS if you're only ploppin a half of one on the plate. NO bread, no salad...that was it! THAT IS NOT A DINNER!!!For $13.20 (and whats with the .20???) Definitely the best pizza in the area. Subs, pizza, and calzones are all exactly what you want and expect from a New York style pizzeria. Staff is great. Not a whole lot of seating so if you get there when it's busy you may have a hard time. Definitely worth the extra couple dollars over the chain pizza pits. read more

I'm from NY so I always get excited for pizza, this place would be mediocre at best in NY but a decent place here in Havelock, NC .. Got two slices of pizza and a side of cheese sticks. These slices are HUGEE, definitely filled me up.. price was alright but the toppings are a bit pricey, 50 cents per topping (50 cents each for a couple of onions and green peppers really??!). This place definitely beats the chain pizzerias like dominos and papa johns in town though. read more

Absolutely THE best pizza that Havelock has to offer. Forget your chains and your deep dish, Mario's has authentic east coast-style pizza. It's thin, floppy, crispy, hot, perfectly seasoned and topped, and most of all: it's consistent every single time. The owners and staff are very friendly, and will make you feel at home as soon as you walk in. I stopped in on my way home one day because my sister said they had good pizza. It was just me, so I ordered Stromboli, and felt like a fat kid so I added an order of their ravioli as well... The order came up pretty quick and I took it home to eat. The ravioli wasn't what i expected. I'm from St Louis, and our fried ravioli is a meat ravioli, while this ended up being a cheese ravioli. It was still delicious, though... The Stromboli was as big as my head. It was a monstrosity!!! It was SO delicious, I actually went all out and ate the whole thing. All around, great bang for your buck. I'll be back to try more of their menu for sure! read more

Great lunch spot. You get what you pay for, if what you paid for is a delicious slice of greasy goodness. Cheap giant slices. I would give another star if it was a little less greasy and if the place was cleaner, but it was a good experience over all. I'm sure we'll be back! read more

I was there at noon - lunch rush time, yet the counter person still looked up and greeted all with a friendly "hello and welcome to "Subway!" 2. The "professional sandwich maker" was just that. He was happy to inform me of the monthly specials. I ordered a turkey breast sub and was impressed about how neatly he arranged the turkey slices on the bread. Reasonable price, good taste, quick service.

This place is delicious and much cleaner with a nicer staff compared to other Subways. I've seen…read morethe owner in here frequently and he does a great job at keeping educated employees (or "sandwich artists") and a clean and organized dining area and food preparation area. Mario's in my families opinion is the best Pizza in the area. I know everyone has an opinion, so here's why we (my family & I) give Mario's 5stars. GREAT quality products, Consistency, Flavor & Their staff is very friendly. I'm not a fan of a Pizza with more than 2-4 toppings and Mario's yummy crust is thin, so I tested the Mario's special. I thought with all those toppings it wouldn't hold up, It did & it was sooooo good.... Their Calzones & Cheese Steaks are good too. You won't be disappointed except when the Pizza is gone :P read more

There pizza is incredible & the guy who works there on Tuesday nite is HOTTTT!!! I"m the lil lady who comes in and orders the extra pepperoni pizza - yes, I am a midget(I prefer the term sexy shortie), but great things come in small packages! Im from Nj and I will say it taste just like back home whenever I crave pizza or a sub this is my favorite spot to go to. Being from the north this is by far the best pizza around here. Biting into the pizza you'll find that it has the perfect crust. The flavor is unbelievable, I 100% choose this place over Dominos, Pizza Hut, or Papa John's because it's really just that amazing. read more

Mario's has been in Havelock since 1985, and we have been customers all that time. It's STILL the best Pizza and Philly Cheesesteak in the state. A great family restaurant. And they deliver too! read more
