Lanna is delicious coffee for a good cause. The Mann family has for years helped to improve the lives of people in Thailand, please look up Lanna Coffee Co's story. Their local Fresno shop on Broadway is not a cafe for sitting around drinking coffee. The coffee bar is *usually* open but my impression is this spot is really for commercial purposes and buying fresh roasted coffee by the pound. I've tried several of their roasts and they are all delicious. They recently started offering smaller bags of village specific coffee, which are really something else, complex and distinctive. We get our office coffee from Lanna, they deliver our yummy coffee once a month. They are local so you can totally customize your order. I highly recommend you check them out

I attended a tasting event today to check out the new coffee place in Fresno. Their cold brewed coffee is amazing, especially cold brewed coffee with nitrogen. It had creamy and yet light flavor that is very refreshing on a hot summer day here in the valley. I purchased Artisan blend that is lightly roasted and their house blend of medium roast. Lanna Coffee is not only fair trade, it also supports the local villagers who are involved in growing coffee beans in Thailand. To me it means a great deal knowing that coffee contains no fertilizer and pesticide, as the sales person explained, and contributes to the local population in Thailand. I was also told that 25% of revenue goes back to the local tribes, which I think is terrific!

Lanna is the newest entrant into Fresno's blossoming coffee scene. They are starting small: roasting beans for other cafes in town and selling them by the bag from their downtown roastery. Except for during special events like today's open house, you can't actually buy a cup of coffee here, yet. I spoke with the owner about the cafe's future, and his dream is to eventually have a large-scale cafe. His first goal is a strictly to-go pour over and espresso bar; expect to see that in the not-so-distant future. The full cafe is a ways off, but I can't wait for it. For now, I really enjoy their coffee beans. The source (fairly paid, small farmers in the hill country of Northern Thailand) makes the wonderful flavors just that much better. The "Honey Artisan" is my favorite, but every flavor is good. The staff is super friendly and extremely excited to be a part of the downtown community. I'm looking forward to watching Lanna's evolution and wish them the best of luck!

I finally decided to stop in with my 5 y/o son. The outside decor and ambiance were adorable and the merchandise had fun designs. Unfortunately, the interaction with the owner completely changed the experience. He seemed irritated from the moment I ordered a hot chocolate for my son, correcting me in a rude and dismissive tone that it was "hot cocoa" and annoyedly asking how many I wanted. I said one and then asked if they had a menu so I could see what type of coffee they offered. That simple question also seemed to frustrate him and he dismissively responded, "It's just coffee," while shaking his head. His overall tone came across as arrogant, annoyed, and dismissive over normal questions, which made the interaction uncomfortable. I was shocked by the attitude, especially from a business owner. Maybe he was having a bad day, and I do see many positive reviews, but I also noticed other reviews mentioning similar experiences with the owner. It's disappointing because we were really looking forward to trying this place. I ended up saying never mind and leaving. My son didn't understand why we walked out without getting what we came for and I explained that I didn't want to support a business where customers are treated rudely. I truly hope the owner is doing okay and is able to treat customers more respectfully in the future because it seems like there's a great product behind the business. Unfortunately, I never got the chance to try it.

I couldn't decide which coffee to try so they offered me samples! Black Magic was a best seller and my favorite of the 3 hot coffees. After I purchased my coffee for a whopping $3, I saw they had the sand heating coffee that I've seen in videos but have never tried! They told me it was Armenian coffee- I bought for my fiance (to go)- also$3! As I'm getting ready to pay for the 2nd coffee- someone comes to buy almost all their bottled pistachio latte ($5). There was 1 bottle left. It was a sign- I asked to buy the last bottle. Lol. It was so smooth and sweet with a lovely hint of pistachio. I'm impressed and def a fan. Where else are you guys?! lol

The store itself is small and not much room for a line. I tried the cardamom vanilla latte and asked for it less sweet. It was really good with just the right amount of sweetness to spice. However, my friend had never been here before and ordered a cubano which she didn't realize was so small. She couldn't believe how small the cup was and it was way too sweet. Unfortunately, when we went back up to the counter to try and exchange it for something else we feel we didn't get the best service. They eventually gave my friend some milk foam to mix it with to tone it down, but she was overall unhappy with her experience. I know the menu probably described what she was ordering but since it was her first time there, she was a little overwhelmed with the menu and could have used some guidance. Also my other friend asked about getting a certain coffee and felt talked down to from the woman at the register like she was an idiot. She says it is not the first time this woman has been rude, as she has been here before and had the same rude service. It is too bad, because overall this place has good coffee and a cute ambience in the back patio, but with the consistently poor service we won't be back.
