This was one of the few higher rated restaurants in the area so we decided to stop by for a late lunch. We were seated outside which was nice except at one point there were a bunch of birds staring at us trying to pick up scraps. The view was decent and they had fans up top in case it gets too warm. The food was really disappointing. I had the tropical chips and dip as well as the lump crab salad. Both were tasteless. The salad didn't come together very well and the dips were bland. My significant other said that the salad was okay and the crab tasted fresh so maybe it's just me being picky. They had one waiter outside and he seemed really rushed. Such a adorable cute little place . This little restaurant is inside Neiman Marcus and it has such a nice seating area outside on the 3rd floor, I loved it you have a awesome view of most of merrick park. They give you this yummy weird shaped bread with chicken broth it's so yummy super delicious the bread is toasty on the outside and soft in the inside . The chicken broth taste like you are having chicken soup just do good. The waitress we had was very nice and very kind. She was very helpful on telling us what was really good on the menu. As a appetizer we ordered the tropical chips and it brought 4 different dips super good all of them and spicy . The cookies in a box OMG !!!! So deliciously scrumptious good , wow just loved them. I enjoyed pretty much everything of this super cute place from the food to the seating. My only issue the latte , it was not to my liking. I really didn't enjoy it at all. My BF's got some fancy family members and one aunt decided to through her 1st grandchild's baby shower at Mariposa. Since we were about party of 60, we sat in the private room off the balcony. The atmosphere was great, we had a harpist but the room was freezing cold... The pre fixe course included a choice of french onion soup or salad, roasted chicken, grilled fish or fillet mignon and the Mariposa strawberry cake for dessert. The soup was great, the fish was dry and over cooked but the dessert was amazing. Maybe because we were had a big group, my food was not as fabulous other reviews, as I guess I'll have to go back to try the food again. read more

Me and my friend went to Mariposa for Miami Spice. It is located in Merrick Park in Miami inside Nieman Marcus. Just as soon as we walked through the door the service was impeccable. The Host opened every door for us and pulled out the chairs for us laid the menus on the table. The waiter introduced himself and bought us water. The food was absolutely amazing. To start out I had the lobster bisque. The bisque was very creamy and actually had good size lobster in it. It also had the right amount of seasonings. For dinner I had the fish with what seemed like the same lobster bisque around it. It was also good but I was hoping for another type of sauce since I had already had the bisque for my appetizer. After dinner I had the creme brûlée which was topped with fruit. I really enjoyed it. The top of the brûlée was thinly caramelized and had it had a nice crunch to it. The custard was light and not to sweet. I highly recommend Mariposa for a dinning experience. I will defiantly be back for more. read more

WOW! How am I *just* finding out about this place?! This is where my love for Miami Spice really comes in... It's serving its intended purpose when I end up at a place I didn't even know existed- even moreso when I end up in love with it! Got fancy for a girls' Miami Spice brunch last weekend and made my way to Mariposa- tucked away in a little corner of Neiman Marcus Merrick Park. We made reservations and while it was busy, we didn't even have to wait 5 minutes for our table! Yes! Already gaining big points with me, Mariposa... We sat down, and as we're looking through our Spice menu, in comes the waiter with GIANT, DELICIOUSLY AMAZING popovers served with a sweet honey butter and tiny cups filled with broth. I mean, honestly, the meal could have ended after the popovers and I would have been happy. Addicitive and glorious. For appetizers, we sampled the tuna ceviche (which was delicious, but had so much watermelon camouflaged into the dish that we really didn't get a whole lot of tuna in the glass...sneaky!) and the grilled avocado. The queso fresco on the grilled avocado made it so tasty. Main dishes were the salmon and the croque madame. Salmon was cooked to perfection, and the croque madame was served on a croissant so it was basically a small, delicious heart attack on a plate (but an awesome way to go, if you ask me). Dessert was the NM sundae- the little tiny chocolate crunchies make the dish....and well, those cookies, I NEED THE RECIPE. Felt like it was a fair price for everything we got, not sure if I'd feel the same way paying a la carte, but Mariposa definitely left me wanting more. I'll be back! read more

Mariposa has always been a solid place for lunch, especially when shopping at Merrick. You can think of it as a higher end Nordstrom Bistro. The food is generally good but not out of this world. The bread with strawberry butter as well as the consommé are one of my favorite aspects of Mariposa. For appetizer, we ordered the tuna tartar and crab cakes. Tuna was plain chopped tuna and flavorless (but very fresh) and the crab cakes were tasty but quite small (for $17 each!?). As for the entrées, we ordered the crab salad (nice, light, and lovely dish) and the steak frites (smallish portion but tasty, and stale truffle fries). It was ok. As for desserts, they're quite wonderful. The apple tart was our favorite. The cake in a jar and carrot cake were also quite good. Service was good but not great. We were often left needing water and poured our own wine. Overall impression is that it's quite expensive for what it is. We felt kind of jipped. read more

This must be one of my favorite restaurants! Mariposa is located inside Neiman Marcus in the beautiful outdoor mall Merrick Village. The first time we came here was for the Miami Spice lunch which I highly recommend. You'll definitely get your money's worth. For $23 you're getting a 3-course meal. Normally this price would only cover one dish or not even. Upfront they serve their delicious signature bread and a little broth to open your appetite. I had the baked avocado, salmon and Panna Cotta. Everything was yummy! But I do have to say that I sometimes envy my husband because he doesn't care about calories at all. And let's be honest, it's mostly the fatty mcfat food that tastes great. He had the sweet potato tater tots, Croque Monsieur and Sundae with Cookies. His food was off the chain! And I strongly believe that calories don't count if you eat them off your husband's plate. We returned during regular lunch hour but I have to say the weekend menu is my favorite. The bar is also really cute or you can just sit indoor or in one of the booths. The food is excellent and so is the service. I'm a huge fan of seafood so this place is just perfection in my mouth. I would recommend any plate, you can't go wrong here! This hole in the wall is also perfect for a first date. I did the Miami Spice brunch here and absolutely loved it. Service is fun and friendly but on high traffic days can take longer than usual. Food quality is consistent and on the higher spectrum of quality. You really can't beat their $23.00 brunch deal that is on promotion. The drinks are great if you like alcohol because they dont cheapen the portion of alcohol out . You really feel the alcohol in your drink. Our waiter was super attentive and great . My friends and I went to Mariposa for Miami Spice last week. I have heard nothing but amazing things from this place, so I was really excited to check it out. While my experience wasn't terrible, it wasn't as great as I thought it was going to be, hence the 3 stars. We were sat as soon as we walked in. Our server quickly set us up with water, bread, and this chicken broth. I ordered the risotto fritters as my appetizer, the flame grilled steak as the entree, and the vanilla bean creme brule. The fritters were pretty delicious, You really can't go wrong when you fry risotto so thats to be expected. The cilantro lime aioli that came with the fritters was a bit salty but it was a nice accompaniment. The steak came, and again, I found it to be very salty. I don't know if it was the chimichurri or the steak itself but it was so salty that I couldn't find the meat, I ate about half. The potatoes were good and the asparagus was fresh and cooked perfectly. I tasted my friends entree, she ordered the fish, and again.. SALT. Lastly the last course came and the creme brule was great too. Others at my table ordered the cookie sundae and that cookie was fantastic. Probably the best thing I ate the whole meal. When the check came, I asked our server if she could please split it, she sighed loudly, like it was a huge inconvenience. I offered to do it myself, but she took the bill and said she would try to remember what everyone got (literally 6 Miami Spice orders and 2 couples had a glass of wine each). It rubbed me the wrong way. When you go to a restaurant thats a part of the Neiman Marcus group, you expect a level of service. It was disappointing that she did not deliver. The kicker was that the next day, when I spoke to my friend that ordered the fish, she mentioned she had been up all night sick with food poisoning. She was the only one that ordered the fish, the rest of us ordered steak. So even more disappointing. I don't think I'll be back to Mariposa, maybe it was an off day, or maybe the server was tired, since we were the last table, but the food and the service at the end was off putting enough that it doesn't make me want to try visiting again. read more

The first time I went, there was a Cuban band playing live music and my husband and I sat outside overlooking the gorgeous Merrick Place. It was divine. I went back later for my birthday and again, it was great. Their salmon with lentils is fabulous. I remember the first time coming to Mariposa and thinking... where are they hiding this place? Tucked away on the third floor in the back corner, Neiman Marcus rendition of a snack area is actually quite nice. The hostess stand seems a little out of place and, when not occupied seems more of a stumbling stand than a welcoming station, but it seems necessary for the type of crowd typically frequenting this place. The interior seating is clean with dark wooden furniture and a full bar, all held in light colors. The better part is the outdoor seating, unless it is summer and a windy day. Covered with umbrellas and a large white wooden trellis, the terrace overlooks part of the outdoor mall. Something notable about the restaurant is that I seem to be one of the few, the very few, men and certainly lower the average age. The menu features some basics with a simple twist, such as the Kobe beef burger and they do have daily specials (I recall a wild mushroom risotto). Also notable are the low carb/healthier options, such as the turkey wrap. The salad dressing is fresh and something to point out. Considering the higher than usual prices, I prefer to use a gift certificate (that is what drew me in the first time) or be treated. Overall the experience is certainly good and I happily give it a 4 star rating. :) read more

Breakfast with Santa was a total disappointment. This is our third year in a row coming and the worst one. The food served was terrible. The kids pancakes were clearly frozen and came hard as a rock. My kids couldn't even eat them. There was something that appeared to be a round sausage patty but again hard and not edible. For almost $200 for 4 people, I would expect an enjoyable meal. They also put Santa in an enclosed room so you were only able to see him for a few minutes, otherwise you didn't even know he was there. They gave squirrel and acorn cookies for the kids to decorate??? This will be our last year, sadly. read more

Mariposa is another incarnation of the ubiquitous restaurant at the Neiman Marcus in Merrick Park. Mariposa is different from the typical NM restaurant (usually called Zodiac) in that it has a huge dining area and is open for dinner. It also has some Latin influences in its dishes, which sets it apart from NM restaurants in other parts of the country. Despite its differences, Mariposa sticks to the NM tradition of serving the delicious popovers with strawberry butter and a palate-cleansing shot of steaming-hot chicken broth complimentary to all diners. The food at Mariposa is, for the most part, very good. The soup of the day is always a winner, as are the traditional NM sandwichs - tuna or chicken salad, crab cake, etc. I went out on a limb on one visit and tried the churrasco sandwich and it was sub-par. The meet was way too chewy to put into a sandwich, but unfortunately, that's what you get with that cut of steak. Alas, now I know to veer away from that dish. NM doesn't validate parking at Merrick Park. I think that privilege belongs solely to Nordstrom. But for those yummy popovers and strawberry butter, it's definitely worth the price for parking! read more

I absolutely love the Village of Merrick Park. It's like a Bal-Harbour-esque outdoor shopping place with nice high end stores (Burberry, Neiman Marcus) and also cute, boutique-y stores (such as 100% Lino). But this review is for Mariposa, which is the restaurant of Neiman Marcus. My parents and I decided to head over there for a late lunch and it was packed! Mariposa is considered one of the few high-end restaurants in the Village so no wonder. Because it was raining heavily, we were only offered outdoor seating (which my parents and I really wanted!) But, of course we got a seat right by the doors that opened and closed - it was uncomfortable because every time the door opened, a big gush of cold air would blow right on the table. If this annoys you (as much as it did for me), than ask to be seated away from the door! Salads here are BIG! I could hardly finish mine (FYI!). I remember this being done at other Mariposa locations as well: we were served complimentary soup (yum!) and soft and fresh popovers at the start of the meal. It appears that Mariposa has arisen out of her hiding place. It is very true, this cute little restaurant is tucked away behind NM, around the bend, and away from mall traffic. If you didn't know of this place, it would be hard to find... luckily I was taken by some friends of mine who had been here previously. But even though it is a "hidden gem" of sorts, seems to me like someone has spread the word because at lunch time, this place was filled! We had lunch on the outdoor patio. We were 5 gals and although they didn't have a table that could accommodate all of us, they offered to put a fifth chair at a four person table. Which was fine, we all fit, there was plenty of space available. Our server was very attentive and the rest of the staff was friendly and also attentive. As for the food... they give this little poof bread that tastes amazing! We had strawberry butter (fancy!) and of course, some chicken broth. Ok... don't get me wrong here but.... huh? I was really confused with the broth. I mean, what's it for? Sample soup of the day? Nonetheless, I found it to be delish and I sipped about half of it. I ordered the Jumbo Lump Crab Salad and my friend's had the Cobb Salad, Chicken Panini, and Tuna Sandwich. Everyone loved their dish. I wasn't thrilled with my salad, I thought it was okay. But then again I'm not a salad kind of person, however I was feeling extra healthy that day. Plus, there was mango in the salad... and I NEVER pass up on mango. Perfect lunch spot at Merrick village park! Strategically located on the third floor of Neiman Marcus is the perfect excuse to drag your hubby in there..The menu has the amount of calories each dish has written next to it. We highly recommend for appetizer both the tuna tartar and their guacamole which comes paired with black bean purée and plantain chips delish! All of the salads are excellent . Full bar is the icing on the cake but be careful after a couple of cocktails you'll be spending a lot more money at the shoe department . read more
