Delicious! Despite having lived here for over three years, this was my first visit. I love Mexican food and I love breakfast, so I came here for the perfect combination. I got the steak and eggs (Comalito, I think it is on the menu) and a cappuccino. Service was super friendly and the food came out quickly. The cappuccino was very tasty. The Comalito was delicious and authentic, with the right amount of spice. The restaurant is really neat inside, with beautiful traditional decorations, neat lighting and a variety of rustic materials that really suit the location (Edison). If you're visit in the winter, be advised that it can be chilly in the dining room. If you're there in the summer, there is plenty of outdoor seating to soak up the sun. read more

Food was great. Had 2 carne Asada tacos which tasted delicious. My other half had carnita tacos 2 of the but she said they tasted bland. There isn't much inside seating. Just 2 long tables. Price was a little shocking 25 dollars for 2 tacos so total was 54 for 4 tacos and one soda. Now the tortillas were hand made and these arent street tacos. In the end I chose the Comalito, which would put me in a food comalito if I ordered a second plate. Steak, potatoes, peppers and pico de gallo under a pair or fried eggs and served on a piping hot iron plate. Lost some appeal, for us anyway. Came in last Saturday. It was a nice day. We ended up getting a late start to our trek up Chuckanut Drive, so we drove straight there (hour and a half). We enjoyed our previous visit to Mariposa Taqueria and didn't want to show up right at closing time. Got there at 2:30 PM, there was a line, and it seemed quite busy. They had tables, some picnic, some metal, scattered around a couple of areas for people to eat. Unfortunately, way less tables than people on a semi-sunny Saturday afternoon. Tacos for two and a side of rice and beans came to over $40. Wasn't really concerned about the price, but it does seem for that price range the accommodations might have been a bit less crude, and the staff, a bit more friendly. Dirty tables scattered around a bumpy, muddy lawn, with people hovering about hoping for a place to sit, seemed more reminiscent of a homeless food kitchen than a gourmet taco joint. I noticed with surprise they removed the menu and put up the closed sign at exactly 10 minutes to 3 PM. Interesting because Google said they were open until 3. A guy came up and asked if he could still possibly get an order. After checking it was just for two people, a rather unfriendly girl made it clear she was doing him a favor, shoved a chalkboard in his face and said "this is our menu". He ordered the same thing we had. Pork and chicken tacos and a side of rice and beans. The food itself was very good. However, anything served in cardboard boxes and eaten with plastic utensils will leave a bit to be desired. Two soggy, corn tortillas at the bottom of a pile of really yummy food can't seriously be considered a taco. Trying to eat seasoned meat and toppings, out of boxes, with plastic forks, on a wobbly table, sitting on wobbly metal chairs isn't, exactly optimal or even enjoyable. Obviously, whoever owns this place, doesn't visit often, or possibly at all. Seems a classic case of a good thing gone bad. And you can't blame the pandemic on this one. Seriously would take 5 minutes to look around to see the problems. Obviously, nobody who works there regularly, gives a crap about customers. Maybe, given the price, they could serve the food in a bowl, and give you a side of tortillas so you could put something together that actually resembles a taco? Maybe, they could even level an area of their "yard" spread some gravel and invest in some actual picnic tables? I doubt this will happen, and I doubt many will complain (the food is actually quite good) but I also doubt we will be back. YMMV read more

As I was expecting "street tacos," I was surprised how big their tacos were. Each taco is like a meal. In fact, there's so much stuff on the tortilla that you can't pick it up with your hands to eat it. Most tacos here are from $8 to $10, but they are worth the price. Kimchi Taco ($10): I ordered the kimchi taco. It came with a very generous amount of meat on top of kimchi and guacamole. The meat was very well marinated and tender. It had a nice Korean flavor reminiscent of Korean BBQ. The kimchi was also of good quality. Mentirosa Taco ($8): My 11 year-old son ordered the mentirosa taco as it was the least spicy option today. It came with lot of veggies, like zucchini and red peppers, as well as chorizo. There were some slices of mango. I didn't find it hot, but it was (black) peppery, which was a bit too spicy for my son. I would definitely come back when I'm in the area. It seems their menu changes often, but I would order the kimchi taco again if it's available next time. Tips: - There are only two communal tables inside, but there are several tables outside when the weather is good. - For someone like me (mid 40s), I thought one taco was just the right amount. I had the pozole and i have to admit it was delicious!!! I put a lot of hot sauce in it with lemon thats how i eat it made it 10x better !, my opinion. It also came with a side of hand made gorditas?, delicious crispy and corn flavored like tortillas but better! I gave my plate a 5star! We also tried the barbacoa taco it had mando slices on side definitelyan interesting take on tacos but very delicious and when you take a bite of it all together it just makes sense , anyway we also had some candy thed had the polvoron i had was great it had pecans in it jjust delicious did not share one bit lol . I really enjoyed my lunch here. Very simple but cool vibe to the place and an open kitchen so you can see the chefs do there thing. The birria tacos were very good and a bit more elevated than the typical gut bomb these can be. The consommé for dipping was really delicious and I loved that they were served with a perfectly ripe 1/2 avacado. The menu consists of about 10 monster sized "tacos" but they aren't like pick up and eat tacos cause they are just too big. instead you eat with a fork and pick some of the tortilla up and eat with your hands but make sure you have napkins! This spot has been on my Taco Radar for awhile now, so when we found ourselves in the Skagit Valley for some tulip-watching we took the scenic route home and stopped in Edison for lunch. There were many tempting offerings on the menu-of-the-day, but I opted for a green chile pork taco while the dude chose the carne asada. We also ordered a side of rice 'n beans, then grabbed a couple of seats outside and waited impatiently while the smells of yummy, meaty goodness wafted out from inside Mariposa's tiny kitchen. Soon, our plates of tasty deliciousness arrived. My first thought was, these are HUGE! These are NOT your usual taco - they are really more like an unwrapped burrito. One was more than filling. My chile verde taco was full of HUGE chunks of pork so soft and succulent I imagined it had spend many, many hours simmering in some heavenly combination of spices until it was fall-of-the-fork tender. The hubby's carne asada was no slouch, either. It was freshly grilled and perfectly spiced, and served with a healthy topping of quite possibly the ripest avocado ever seen in Skagit County. The rice and beans looked quite plain, but were magically delicious. This was not a cheap meal - $23 and we didn't order beverages - and while I might normally have balked at the cost I can't complain here. This is a case of getting what you pay for, and in this case we got fresh, local, wonderful food that will surely cause us to take future detours to Edison for taco goodness. read more

Hip place that was definitely poppin! The tacos here are pricier (~$10) but they are huge, I recommend trying to finish one before you order more; 1 fills you up pretty darn good. The presentation was great; pops of vibrant color that make each taco stand out. I ordered the Carne asada and I felt it was pretty standard, had the char but not enough "oomph" to make the journey for more. However I feel i did not do them justice; I really should have also tried the Oaxaca or fish tacos as they seem to be the main star of the show!! Overall great ambiance, and pretty fun/different for kids, a large menu, and nice local place to enjoy a meal made with care. Seriously, if you know Cafe Poca Cosa, this little place is every bit as good!). The marinated rockfish Gordita is a revelation in every bite (papaya! Black beans! Sweet corn! Masa cake! Crema!) And the abodaba tacos feature tender pork rubbed with a deep savory spice blend balanced by sweet pickled onion. Washed down with horchata. Such a delectable surprise to find this little place!
