My husband and I really enjoyed our visit to Costa Alegre. The food was authentic and delicious. We ordered the green aguachiles and the Tuna La Isla, and both dishes were excellent. I love spicy food, and the aguachiles had great flavor and heat. My husband is more sensitive to spicy foods, but he still loved the Tuna La Isla. Went out for lunch today and it turned out to be a great spot for drinks too. I sat at the bar and the service was excellent. The menu had a nice variety to pick from. I started with the fish ceviche, a little dry, but fresh, and the portion was generous. Then I tried the molcajete with shrimp and chicken, which was absolutely delicious. It's on the pricier side, but since it was my first time trying it, totally worth it. June 9, 2026 Saturday about 530 pm. No reservations in weekends. You can reserve on weekdays when you don't need one. lol. We got seated because we came early. When we left people were stacked out front waiting for tables. It filled up quick I expected much more decor. Under the sea. But the ceiling screens with sea creatures were cool When people had a birthday the lights go down and loud cook music plays. The staff come out with tambourine and other hand lights and they dance around the table. Colored led lights from rotating spot lights in ceiling flash around Pretty cool. We couldn't see if they got a free desert. We saw 2 or 3 birthdays occur. Our server never cane back after good. In fact someone else delivered it. I had to finally flag her down to ask for the check watch out because their system defaults to 29% tip and Dan executed that before I could stop him. Our service was not good. Ambers drink took forever. We even had food and she had no drink. It was an alcoholic drink. They give you paper cups of soup when you get silverware. It's good thin spicy broth with a shrimp floating in it. I liked it. Dan said too spicy but he never eats anything spicy or interesting. Good food. Strange way too large menu of a lot of choices we were unfamiliar with. It was the most "Mexican" menu we've ever seen and being Californians we eat a lot of Mexican food. We just had no idea what some of it was or had never even heard those names. Amber had the salmon sushi and liked it. Dan had tacos Classico chicken and beef but it cane with nothing in them. So we asked for lettuce and tomato I would definitely go back. And the soup cup was addicting flavor to me. We also had 2 orders chops and Guac. The Guac bowl is tiny. They use one of those black tiny salsa bowls. I asked for salsa because mine was offered. I had green and red. Both excellent. read more

Have been here twice now, both times during their soft opening. Both times were pretty busy, but we were seated immediately without a reservation. The restaurant provides what I believe is caldo de camarón and tostadas while you look through the menu and wait for your food. It is pretty good. I tried their aguachile verde both times. I really enjoyed it the first time, but didn't like it as much the second time, unfortunately. We also tried their camarones and pulpo al mojo ajo. Everything was delicious! Mariscos Costa Alegre is always a great choice when deciding where to eat. All their locations are pretty consistent with menu, food prep and presentation, and drinks. The only difference I found was that the Gilroy location has an actual bar with seating. Friday night date night and this was at the top of the list as we have been wanting to try this new location since it opened. Driving up and we knew there was going to be a wait as we saw a crowd of people waiting outside. Walked in and we're quoted a 15 minute wait for a table for two. Walked over to the bar which is open seating and decided to sit at the bar to avoid the wait. Set at the bar, looked over the menu and ordered some drinks, an appetizer and some entrées. DRINKS EL MALIBU $15.00 Blended mango, chamoy, malibu rum, curaco. Drink consisted of puréed mango at the top and Malibu, rum and caraco at the base with Chamoy and Taheen at the rim. This drink was very pretty with a nice presentation. However, once you mixed it, it looked like mud, lol. This drink was fruity refreshing and just the right amount of liquor. I would have this again. COSTA ALEGRE $15.00 Coconut Rum, Midori Liqueur, Lamon Juice, House Syrup. This drink was very refreshing didn't get so much of the coconut taste however it did taste very good and it wasn't too heavy on the liquor. It was so good that we ordered two. I would order this one again. CIELITO TROPICAL $15.00 Tequlla, Pama Liquour, Lemon Juice, Orange Juice. This drink was heavy on the liquor, not quite my taste. However, the hubby did like it. APPETIZERS Costa Alegre Shrimp Ordered some appetizer shrimp which came in a red sauce that was very spicy. The sauce had very good flavor and it complimented the shrimp very well. I couldn't get enough of them. They were so good and I loved that they were peel and I didn't have to peel them and have all the red sauce on my fingers, lol. Not sure if this is the name but I think they were the Costa Alegre shrimp. FOOD FILETE DE PESCADO $19.00 Grilled bass filet with a side of rice, macaroni, salad, green salad, and fresh handmade tortillas. This entrée was a good size and the tortillas in my opinion were the best part. TACOS GOBERNADOR $18.00 3 crispy shrimp tacos with mozzarella cheese, avocado, lettuce, pico de gallo, and chipotle mayo. Tacos were good and I like that they were crispy tacos however, I wish the whole tortilla was crispy versus just the edges. Added a little hot sauce and a complimented the taco very well. The kiddo went off to camp today. Yay! Momma & Daddy need a break & so we went off & had lunch after church at Mariscos Costa Alegre. The place looks great! So much more so than when it was a Chili's. The service was wonderful. Our waitress was attentive & our food came out fast. I ended up getting the Fajitas Trio & they were delicious. You get Shrimp, Chicken & Steak w/grilled veggies, rice & creamy refried beans. I asked for corn tortillas & ended up getting flour. I didn't complain. But, someone in the future might. The hubs got the carnitas mixtas & loved every bite. The tortillas tasted fresh & homemade. I ordered a cocktail as well (the Costa Alegre) & it was good. Over all... it was an outstanding lunch. Proven theory: When hungover, spicy Mariscos will save you. I was in the area and looked up restaurants near by to help cure us from our post NYE hangover and Mariscos Costa Alegre popped up. We were able to find parking relatively quick. When we arrived, there was a good amount of people, we had a short wait to sit indoors. We ordered drinks at the bar while we waited for our table and looked over the menu. Once we were sat they started us off with a warm seafood sipping broth, perfect for the weather and perfect to settle our stomachs after a night of drinking. To order, there's options for everyone's tastebuds, seafood lover or not you'll find something for you. There's your traditional marisco dishes, sushi, tacos, pozole, pastas and more. I was overwhelmed with options but stuck to what I know, we ordered a few plates to share, the fried fish, ceviche mixto tower and the don cuca shrimp. Everything was so incredibly fresh, flavorful and SPICY. Like, really spicy. I was sweating by the time we finished. I was cured of my hangover within the hour. If you love seafood and don't mind alot of spice, this spot is a must try. As we were leaving we noticed the line out the door, we arrived right before the lunch rush hit. I could see why this place is so popular. It'll be rare that I'll find myself in this area again, but if I ever am, Marsicos Costa Alegre is a must do. 10/10. Came here for mariscos and it did not disappoint! I ordered the Tuna La Isla tostada and it was absolutely delicious--super fresh and full of flavor. Wow- I have never had so much fun at dinner! This used to be the old Chili's in Gilroy. Don't get me wrong, I can appreciate a good chain restaurant burger , but I would much rather spend my money at Costa Alegre. When you walk in , you will be immediately greeted by the friendly staff. You will then have two choices: 1. Go to the left and grab a seat at the bar and enjoy your favorite cocktail. Or , 2. Grab a seat in the dining room and watch a game on t.v. This restaurant specializes in seafood, so don't be surprised when you see a 12 page menu with 90 percent of it containing seafood. However, if you are not the biggest fan of seafood- like me , Costa Alegre has you covered. For dinner, I opted for their bistec ranchero , verde rice , and their homemade corn tortillas. Bruh-We have a problem- in a good way! This dish came out so savory and spicy-it literally blew my socks off! I have never tasted a dish so delicious that I considered bathing in the sauce. I can't describe how good this dish was. It was like I was eating food for the first time. Bonus, this dish came with macaroni salad and a green salad! I found this unconventional, yet oddly satisfying. While I was dining , a few people were celebrating a birthday and the place turned into a discoteca. Loud , fun and a party vibe for sure! Came in on a weekday with my girls to try out this new Mexican restaurant we were recommended. It was busy but not as busy as I heard weekends would be. As soon as we came in we were greeted and seated quickly by a cute young girl at the entrance whose name I didn't catch. She was patient with our annoying seating requests and brought us caldos and waters very quickly after seating us! Wow. This place is AMAZING! We were pleasantly greeted and seated immediately. Our drinks were ordered and the waitress, Marisela checked on us quickly. She was very sweet and patient. We ordered the chicken wings with Costa Alegre sauce, it was the best sauce ever!! A TON of garlic. So good. The sushi pasta was delicious and a huge portion. We asked for water, it was warm and a little muggy in the restaurant. Our waitress didn't speak a word of English but we spoke enough Spanish to get us by. 15 min later, she came and asked if we were ready to order. Still no water. We ordered an appetizer to share and our lunch plates plus water. About 10 min later, we got our appetizer. Still no water. We asked for water again. Our lunch came 10 min after that, still no water. We asked again and finally got an 8 oz glass of water. No utensils or napkins. We asked for them and more water. We got our utensils and 1 napkins each. No water refill. We didn't see the waitress again after that. The food was okay. Definitely overly hyped on social media. I didn't finish it because it was way too spicy. Didn't have the water to cool off my mouth. Asked for the bill so we could leave. We paid the bill and left. When I got to my car, downed the bottle of water I had in there because after an hour of being there, split appetizer, a spicy shrimp dish, and just an 8 oz glass of water (no ice, btw)..I was dying! I don't think I'll be going back. I'm sure others had good experiences but that was not a good 1st impression for me. Unattentive waitress, warm temperature, unprepared table, stingy on the water. My family and I visited this restaurant two weeks ago it's beautiful inside it was a Sunday and even though it looked quite busy we got sat fairly quickly, I ordered the Camarones Ala Diablo sauce wasn't that good, the Chavela don't have much flavor either, our server took a bit to come check on us although the passing servers helped out and the food was brought by a food runner, my mom got the sushi aguachile combo the sushi was delicious, my step dad ordered some Oysters but was disappointed since they were I guess baby oysters. Our server took a while to get things we asked for but we were patient and understanding since it's quite a new restaurant. She took 20 minutes to come back with our change but over all we liked the food and ambiance so we decided to go again this past weekend for a bday, we got The same server this time our experience was bad and service went downhill completely and it wasn't that busy. Server took 15 minutes to Come Acknowledge us, three tables got Sat after us they're order was taken promptly and they received the food at a decent time, after she came to our table got our drink order dropped the drinks off she didn't come By until another 15 minutes we finally ordered and our food took 45 minutes in those 45 minutes the server didn't Bother coming to check on us to see if we needed another drink appetizers or anything which frustrating when the food started arriving I asked the food runner for our server she said she went on break; as a common courtesy letting us know would've been nice, she didn't come at all I got up and asked for boxes she didn't come to drop off the check we were very disappointed as we saw other servers were wonderful with they're tables attentive and present, maybe next time we can ask For a different server read more
