Final Thoughts: 2.50/5 My parents heard about this place and they wanted to try it. Definitely been a long time since we went to a buffet. This family really does not consume a lot of food, so sometimes going to a buffet really isn't the most idea when you're trying to get your moneys worth with quality and quantity. Location for here is somewhat farther than other places that we usually go to. We did finally get the opportunity for all of us to go, so it happened. Will round to be 3 star for today. Food: 1. Sushi bar (Simple sushi rolls with imitation crab, salmon, avocado, seaweed salad, ?tofu skin) Their selections of sushi are quite limited. Honestly, it felt like the same type of roll with just one item differing. Not even really sure if these are actual types of sushi rolls like at other restaurants. They did look slightly haphazardly put together, but overall rolls are fine and nicely plated on the larger plate to get. Heft fillings for most of them, which I appreciate. 2. Seafood Options (stir fried shrimp, braised mushrooms, mussels with cheese, clams) Most of these items felt like they were frozen and then reheated verses fresh. The assembly of these dishes seem simple enough, so they continuously refilled these. Some were steamed perhaps like the clams, others were baked maybe like the muscles. The texture is a lot more "rubbery" and difficult to remove the meat from the shell. Flavor was just alright for most of these options. 3. Classic food choices (fried rice, chow mein, orange chicken, honey walnut shrimp, eggrolls, broccoli beef, French fries, pizza, ribs) These are items are nostalgic for me if anything. Also feels like something I can cook from a bag or even get at Panda Express. Honey walnut shrimp was alright. It felt super rich and oily with the amount of mayonnaise. Not necessarily a complaint because I really like that dish, but I could only have a few of them. Orange chicken was also quite good and nostalgic for me. 4. Desserts (?Mousse cake, cream puffs, coconut macaron, soft serve, palmiers cookies) Honestly, I love desserts and sweets, but there was something about these items that weren't enticing at the time. Maybe because I was really full already from the other foods. The cake felt a little bit dry. Seems like something we can get in bulk somewhere and not necessarily freshly made. Soft serve was almost like this sweet water with just a bit of milk in it, which was interesting. 5. Fruits (Cantaloupe, canned lychee, oranges, pineapple) Very small selection of fruits here. Not too big of a fan of canned fruits, but it was something that they had. The cantaloupe was the only fruit that I could really "enjoy" because it was fresh and better looking than the other options. My parents liked the oranges, as well. Some nice vitamin C for them after the big meal. Labeling: Nothing Labeled None of their items are labeled, so just be sure y'all are careful of food allergies or intolerances. --------- Quality: As expected for the price Their quality is ok??? Ish??? It's what I expected for the price. A lot of the foods appear frozen and then reheated or cooked. Sushi was rolled on the spot and refilled. Some foods felt like they were just sitting there under a warmer. For the seafood, definitely felt like from the freezer and not fresh. You can see this in the clams because they were really stuck onto their shell and absolutely would not come out cleanly. Texture is a little more chewy. Price: Affordable for the Buffet If you want affordable and all you can eat, this is the place to go. One of the reasons why my parents want to go here is because of the price. This place is in Gilroy, so a little farther away from where we are, but we still wanted to try it. Prices are fully on the rise. For an adult, it will be $18.99 now. There are discounted pries for kiddos between 2 and 11 years of age. Senior citizens of age 65 and older will also get a $1 off discount. Very sweet and totally works for us. Service: Fast Not sure how crowded this place gets, but we were seated immediately after coming in. I didn't see how busy it was outside, but most, if not all of the seats were filled at one point. They took our drink order and then we were free to go get food afterwards. There's always a trash plate and they took those away pretty quicky. Ambiance: Dim lit Interior was quite dark and dim lit. The area where the foods were was really warm and this might be nicer on a cold winter day versus summer. The space actually looks quite small for something of a buffet style. Perhaps there aren't too many options, but it/s definitely a nice small buffet to go to for a change of taste once in a blue moon. Location/Parking: Spacious area This area is very spacious and located where the South Valley Plaza Shopping Center is. It is within kind of the side corner of this plaza. Went on a weekday for lunch and there were many booths with open seating. The tables are well kempt but the booth chairs were ripped and stuffing was kind of spilling out. The selection is solid for a lunch buffet. You get things from stir fry string beans to california rolls to BBQ pork to prawns. Me and my crew needed some dinner and one way to please everybody is a buffet. Same price for everybody and you just get what you want, no waiting or putting in orders. You get to see the food before it gets to your plate! I found Asian Buffet on the Yelp and saw it was right off the freeway. Just get off the 101 at East 10th and go south on Automall Parkway and then your right there in the first shopping center. It all the way in the back. We get seated easy, just water to drink please. The food here is basically the same as most Chinese buffets in the country, unless you're in a high Asian population area. Those buffets will have more of the real authentic Chinese stuff, like some animals you didn't know you could eat! Here pretty much standard American Chinese stuff, like egg rolls, chow mien, egg drop soup, green beans and that general chicken. The chicken wings were good and I liked the clams. My biggest complaint is that the food was cold quality seemed OK. I'm not expecting the same as a maid to order sit down restaurant but I do like my food hot and I'm taking into consideration that it is a buffet and I can't expect getting super high, but we have the food a little bit hotter. Been here a couple of times when I'm in Gilroy. $14.99 for lunch is a great value for all you can eat. Seniors get a dollar off. The sushi selection is small, 5-6 basic rolls but good enough as an appetizer. The hot foods were a hit or miss. The best were the bbq ribs, which were hot when I ate there at noon. It is the Chinese barbecue kind, not fall off the bone but tender. The sweetness was just right for me. The teriyaki chicken was good too, albeit not as hot as the ribs. They weren't dry and not saucy either. The chow mein noodles and fried rice weren't good or bad. The noodles were soft and not overly oily. It had a little bit of veggies but pretty much a base for the other dishes. Like the fried rice it needed extra seasoning/soy sauce and other dishes to pair with. The salt and pepper shrimp were decent size and were cooked right as the shell didn't stick to the shrimp. I had extra helpings on those dishes. Dessert had fresh fruit, canned fruit, jello and snack cakes/cookies that are standard at other Chinese buffets. The soft serve ice cream weren't creamy kinda slight on the icy side. I went here on a Sunday around 7pm for dinner and there was no wait! I was a little surprised by that since most buffets I go to tends to have a wait. Anyways, this buffet looked a bit on the smaller side. I'm not really used to that, but the food I tried was pretty good. There isn't much variety here, but my favorite items was their sushi pieces, but everything still tasted good, so I'm happy about that. I'd recommend this place! Tired old food at 12 noon. It's cheap, but not flavorful. It's the typical thing you go there and the sushi is all rice, a lot of the food looks like it was there since yesterday. I think they actually start putting the food out on the buffet at 9:00 in the morning. Just no matter what you do it can never be fresh. I think a lot of these buffets would just do better by making smaller more frequent batches. I had never been to an Asian buffet. This was my first time. We stopped by on our way to Monterey. They have a huge selection of food items, specially for meat eaters. Mix of freshly made and canned food. I am vegetarian. I tried their hot sour soup, fried rice, garlic bread, string beans, sautéed mushrooms, and fresh oranges. I could try a lot of food for $15.99 per person. For the most part, food tasted good and fresh, my only complaint is that the food wasn't kept warm. It would taste so much better if the food was kept warm. Service was quite great. They answered all our questions. In fact they made us sautéed broccoli on special request because they didn't have any vegetarian broccoli dish that I could eat. This place is huge, lots of tables, lots of foot traffic and quite lively. I am not sure if I will come back but this was worth experiencing once. read more

There were a number of sushi rolls. They all tasted about the same, so they were fine for a taste, but not for a return trip. Many of the other items tasted the same as well. There were a couple of seafood items, a mild braised fish, and mussels covered in a mayonnaise sauce. Potstickers were nice and crispy. Ribs were good, too. There was also a good amount of veggies. Came here on a Tuesday evening. Arrived around 5:45. Was greeted by a little girl and then we were seated. There were a few tables take. It's spacious and there are tables as well as booths. As soon as we were sat, our drink order was taken. My husband sat at the table while I went to get my round one. There was a few sushi options. Your normal california roll, dragon roll stuff. No sashimi. There was seaweed salad which I decided on. Everything was kind of mixed in with each other. No one spot held all apps, meats, sides. They kind of was all thrown together. There was salt and pepper shrimp with heads on that I decided on. Not bad. They also had blue crab that was lightly battered and fried. There were these sauteed mushrooms that were delcious, as well as some sauteed green beans. I was in it for the shrimp and crab. At $16/pp all you can eat shrimp was a good deal. My only issue was that the food wasn't kept even warm under them lights. Customer service was good. They checked on us periodically and made sure our drinks didn't run out. Don't know that we will come back. I mean it was cheap so you do get what you pay for. They offer take out. Several people walked in. Were handed a to-go container and they filled it up. Came here the other day with my wife for a quick meal. We've been coming here on and off for the past few years. The food was very fresh and very tasty. The sushi rolls were full of flavor. The assortment of meats were perfectly seasoned and the sauces flavorful. The fried rice and noodles were perfectly cooked. The sweet and sour soup was excellent and had a nice kick. The price point is great for the quantity and quality of the food, in my opinion it's better than places like panda. Overall, we were very happy with the service, food and price. The food is not fresh. We had dinner and you can tell the dishes served are left overs from lunch hours. The trays of food are mostly half empty and not refilled. We waited to see if they will start refilling but it didn't happen. There is limited array of dishes offered as compared to most Chinese or Asian buffets.
