New to the area, looking for a good go to Mexican restaurant. Went here due to the 4+ stars and the reviews. Atmosphere average, with plenty of seating. Service was good, but they were down a server so a bit slow. First red flag were the chips, which were stale, not crunchy or crispy. I could fold the chips in half. Also ordered a Diet Coke and a Modelo. Diet Coke was brought out in a can with no glass or ice, no glass for the beer either. At home, maybe, but would expect more at a restaurant. Ordered the chicken cheese quesadilla, Carne Asada super burrito, and a regular Carne Asada burrito. The chicken in the cheese quesadilla was a bit hard, reminiscent of leftover chicken that has been sitting for a while. Regular burrito was good, plenty of meat, beans and rice. Super burrito was mostly filled with rice and beans, not much meat. The waitress was very nice, however the food left much to be desired. First time here! The molcajete mar y tierra was really good. It came out hot and full of flavor with a mix of steak, chicken, shrimp, and veggies. The portion was big and great for sharing. I had been wanting to try this restaurant for dinner. I ordered through DoorDash and the order was ready fairly quickly. The restaurant itself was nice. The asada super burrito is huge and comes with a generous amount of meat and fillings. The carne asada tacos were also really good. The mole enchiladas weren't quite what I expected. They were pretty spicy, had a lot of sesame seeds and the chicken wasn't shredded, which threw off the texture for me. The beans were dry the rice had vegetables. I was also a little disappointed that the quesabirria taco order only came with one taco for $10 and didn't include consomme. Overall some dishes were great but a few things weren't my taste. Happy to stop by for a nice lunch. Big menu in a big space fit my big appetite. It wasn't very busy, but it was definitely steady. The lady who was working the room had no problem juggling the tables and staying available. Not too far from the freeway, either, so easy to get to. I went with the Camarones Gilroy Plate. Opted for flour (instead of corn) tortillas. This is a hearty dish and I was glad to get it. Five or six large shrimp (shells on), buttery, and super garlicky (this IS Gilroy) piled on a plate with Spanish rice, refried beans, some lettuce and a dab of guacamole. As abundant as the plate was, I almost felt it was misleading to list guacamole so prominently on the menu as part of this dish. In reality, the guac, though good, was a very small component to the dish. The shrimp were perfectly cooked and a nice centerpiece to a big plate of goodness. The tortillas were good, too, and I would not have complained had there been a couple more. Still, this was plenty of food. And I didn't even mention the complimentary chips and salsa that arrived to my table soon after I did. I liked the chips - a solid crunch, a crispy corn flavor without being greasy. Hello community, I normal don't like to leave reviews here but I would like to share my experience at restaurant Mi Gusto Es. We celebrated our wedding there, unfortunately our first venue was double booked and we had to find another one. We went to the restaurant and spoke with the owner she showed us a menu with the options of what we could add to our wedding menu, all was great please keep in mind we made a agreement and settled to pay a amount for the place to be closed at 2:00 Pm the amount was settled by the owner herself and the price for the food would also be per person (keep in mind we let her know we would only be serving 1 meal per person unless we discussed otherwise but we would need to be told) all prices were disclosed and we left a deposit. Comes the day of our wedding the service was terrible my mother in law had to help carry plates (the owner had said she would provide the waitresses no extra cost this would have been included) she had to empty out tables because she was going around with 1 plate or 1 cup of something and her notebook under her arm. I truly apologize but the food was cold and not tasty. I had a guest who was served only Clamato in her michelada and had to go back 2times to get it right. A few people didn't show up but she was aware that coming the date it could have been exact or less but not more than the capacity of the venue. The event was to be hosted 2:00Pm-11:00Pm per her offer and with all charges once again being accepted and disclosed by her (the owner) at 8:00 Pm per her helpers (a person disclosed this information) the owner was asking that the place be cleaned up meaning all table cloths to be removed to start sweeping and cleaning around to make us start heading out. When the bill came she charged us 2x what the agreed amount was, she charged double meals for every other person who attended when we knew only maybe 5 extra plates were requested with the guests being nice enough to ask beforehand (she knew she couldn't just serve more and she claimed she did it anyways) and when confronted about it she mentioned she didn't disclose all amounts and that she had added extra amounts to pay. All in all I DO NOT RECOMMEND that place please get a different venue the owner did not have remorse it was a horrible experience I truly regret it the idea was good, but unfortunately, it just was so so bad.!! Shame on you Maria or Mari not sure what the owners name is, trying to make a living charging 3x the amount on food. read more

We went on a Sunday afternoon when it was pretty quiet, so we were able to get our food quite quickly. This is a nice family owned business, the interior has a wide open design with plenty of seating and tables. The walls have beautiful paintings hung up with painted "on the wall" birds that look like they are sitting on the paintings that are hung up. The lady that took our order "think she was the owner" was dressed very nice, took our order without writing anything down "I was very impressed as we ordered 6 things and added stuff to the food" I ordered the Birria "beef" super burrito "see the picture" it was humongous!! There was plenty of big pieces of beef and the rice was super moist and flavorful. IMO everything melded together perfectly.... Well except for the cold lettuce, I really don't get why some places put cold lettuce in with their burritos; you get this hot, cold weird texture kind of thing going on. " cold lettuce has no place in a burrito" that being said the burrito was a 7 out of 10 (would have been 9 out of 10 if not for the cold lettuce) I definitely recommend Mi Gusto "note to self next time order the same thing without lettuce. ;-) read more

If I could give zero stars, I would. My family was craving authentic Mexican food, but this place was a major disappointment. My wife ordered quesabirria expecting multiple tacos for $10, but it only came with one and didn't include consommé. I ordered carne asada nachos, and the chips were stale. Unfortunately, the chips and guacamole were stale as well, which made the whole meal even worse. Overall, the quality didn't match the price at all. We spent around $50 and left disappointed. The lady behind the counter, was very pleasant. She ensured I had everything I needed to eat away from the restaurant. Plenty of napkins, utensils etc. To my pleasure, the enchilada was EXACTLY what I craved. I was looking for a place to eat that I wouldn't have to order too much. This was perfect. Our server was the owner, but I didn't get her name and she was very friendly. So I had two Carnitas tacos, you can also get them with rice and beans. My husband had a Carnitas quesadilla, and he had leftovers. I did not. The food was great. Nothing makes me happier than a molcajete piled high with an assortment of meats and spicy salsa. The beans were also delicious. I ordered a Michelada and I didn't expect it to be huge and served with shrimp. The chamoy and Tajín rim made it perfect. Unfortunately the service was lacking. This happens with mom and pop places but it's sad. My husband asked what kind of meat he could get in a burrito and the girl answered "meat or chicken". I had to ask if they had asada, al pastor etc and then she said they did. I really hope they figure out how to be friendlier and more knowledgeable of their menu. I had the biggest craving for pozole and this place came up on my search on Yelp. Thankfully it was a Saturday so it was available to order (as noted on the menu). Parking was a little tight in the lot so it was nice that we came here for a later lunch, was able to score a spot pretty quick. This place was very open and almost mini banquet hall vibe with few screens going + music, thankfully it wasn't too loud for it all to be jumbled up. There were only 3 other tables of people when we got there, seated and ordered very quickly. Food came about 15mins later, all warm and the pozole had all the add-ons plated nicely. Personally I wish there was more cabbage and onions, but they did give a good amount (I'm just one of pile in the veggies). I also ordered a side of avocado to go with it and I was given a very fresh one (I really appreciate that). My bf got an enchilada plate and the Spanish rice made me think of a fried rice of sorts. I definitely enjoyed my pozole more than the enchilada. Everything was nice in the soup with the pork being very tender, I do wish there was more hominy in it. The food feels like grandma opened a restaurant and that feel warms me. I wouldn't say it's the best I've had, but it's something I would be definitely be back for. Final Thoughts: Cost wasn't unreasonable and service friendly, will be back when in the area and craving for some pozole again! read more

It definitely has the kind of vibe you'd want for a nice night out or a few Instagram-worthy photos. The staff was friendly and welcoming, which made for a good first impression. Unfortunately, the experience went downhill from there. The food was shockingly expensive for what you get, feeding a family of 4 was well over $25 a plate for simple burritos and tacos. No sides of rice or beans or anything extra. Portions were underwhelming, and to top it off, they were super stingy with the salsa--something you'd expect to be flowing freely at a Mexican restaurant. Hubby and I stopped in mid week an hour before closing. We were starving. The closed sign was up but the owners let us in explained that they had closed early due to lack of business (understandable) but they still fed us. The food was amazing! The enchilada suizas had chopped cilantro-loved it! The margarita was very good as well. Great flavor and just the right amount of strength. The service was above and beyond. I highly recommend. On top of all of they had a live band playing, which was cool... except they had the volume cranked up to the max and it's a small place. I was only told this after the taco arrived at the table. I did not ask for a special one taco deal, it is listed on the menu as one 10$ taco option. Apparently the 1, 10 $ dollar taco is not worthy of dipping broth. For this I will not walk through the doors of this establishment again. I could tell they have night events by the instruments set up in the front. The gentleman helping us was really polite and attentive. I could tell there are a lot of regulars here. We ordered drinks first: I got the sangria preparada and it was really refreshing. For food, I ordered the whole fish, which I liked, but there were a lot of bones. My husband ordered a shrimp burrito, which was mediocre. The kiddo got nuggets and fries. This was the first time I've seen a restaurant serve Dino nuggets. I'm sure all restaurants go with frozen nuggets, but I've never seen this before. Lol. Of course my kid liked it. I liked this place, and the portions are huge. It's just the food didn't have a wow factor, although I did appreciate our waiter and the large portions. This quite authentic Mexican restaurant was a great stop for lunch. Tried their quessabarrias. I had never had what I would describe as perfectly cooked carnitas, so tender with a great crispy shell that dipped into a great sauce that made the flavors pop. This along with their homemade guacamole which is not to be missed made for such a perfect lunch. I came here for dinner with my husband and friends. The place is clean and nice, love the decorations. The food is so delicious. I try the Cocktail de Camarón, Tostada Mixta and we order a Molcajete de Mariscos. We enjoy the food and time. The service was great.
