A friend of mine recently ate here and loved it, so I thought we should stop by for lunch today and try it out. They are located on Monterey road in the Creekside Plaza. There is parking right in front of the restaurant. We noticed the specials they were offering on a board out front of the restaurant. We were warmly welcomed by the staff upon entering. Since the place was empty, we got to pick where we wanted to sit. It soon got busy after we arrived. There are many tables for seating. The walls are decorated with replicas of swordfish and other types of large fish. Menus were already on our table. Our waiter took our drink order. I ordered iced tea but didn't like how it tasted. I asked for Diet Coke instead and they had no issues with that. For our lunch, I ordered the fish & chips with 1 piece of fish and a cup of clam chowder, and fries combo. My husband wanted to order the halibut, which was their special of the day, but they were out of the halibut. He ordered the grilled salmon instead and it came with two sides. For the sides he chose steamed vegetables and coleslaw. He also ordered a pint of clam chowder. We ordered the cheesy crab bread for an appetizer. Our soups came out first. The clam shower was just okay. Not the best I've had. It was super thick and very mild in flavor. The cheesy crab bread came out next. The bread needed to be toasted more. The bread was warm but the crab on top was ice cold and I didn't taste any cheese in this. It was just okay. I probably wouldn't order it again. Our entrees came out next. I think the start of the show here, for both of us, was the fish. My husband loved his Salomon. It came with three good size pieces and was very filling. My fish & chips were amazing. The batter they used on the fish was so crispy and delicious. I'd say that's one of the best fish & chips I've ever had. Their tartar sauce was also very good. I don't usually like tartar sauce but I liked theirs. Customer service here was excellent as well. The staff were so nice. Actually everyone in that restaurant was nice including the other customers. It's definitely a small town vibe there and I really love that. Overall, I'd say the fish is what stood out for me. If you're looking for great crispy Fish & Chips, this is the place. We will definitely be back again for the fish.

Had a late lunch here at the Morgan Hill location today with my mom. I've eaten at their downtown San Jose location several times and enjoyed it. The restaurant is in a strip mall. We had no trouble finding a parking spot at 2pm on a Saturday. The restaurant was fairly busy, but there were quite a few tables available. We were greeted and seated immediately upon arriving. The server took our drink and food orders without delay. I had the tilapia with mashed potatoes and coleslaw and a pink lemonade. My mom had the two-piece fish and chips and iced tea. I wish I could say I loved the food, but it wasn't great. The tilapia was overcooked. The mashed potatoes were served in the shape of a patty that was brown and crispy on the outside. I've never seen mashed potatoes served that way and didn't care for it. However, the coleslaw was very good and so was the pink lemonade. My mom loved her fish & chips. The pieces of fish were huge and she ended up taking home leftovers. I gave this restaurant four stars in spite of not liking my food because the service was excellent and so was my mom's food. If I go back I will try something different.

Decided to go check out Morgan Hill location. The place was a medium size type of restaurant. With seats outside available. I decided to sit outside with the fresh air keeping me cool and shade umbrella they have on the tables. I was craving a good real genuine crab and shrimp salad. Not the imitation type some places use. I finished the salad and also ate half of my crab sandwich. In the heat we are getting here the cool temperature of the foods hit the spot. My belly!! The waitress was excellent and a true professional. Gave me free refills on my Pepsi drink and a to go box with the half sandwich I could not finish. The fries filled me up. This place is a chain and they have San Jose, Cupertino and Morgan Hill locations. I have been to Cupertino and Morgan Hill. They use real seafood. No imitation stuff like some other merchants. It gives them a 5 star rating in my Yelp files. I will be back.

I was in morgan hill and decided to try some fish and chips and clam chowder. The clam chowder was very creamy and delicious. I wanted to order more actually but remembered i got the fish and chips coming. The fish was fried nicely, crispy and overall great. The french fries or chips were decent. The interior was nice and cozy. The server was nice and attentive. They have a few TVs that were playing the football game so that was great. Plenty spots to park. If i am in the area and craving some fish, would definitely come back.

Do not sleep on this joint. I know this sounds highly sus to order but their Cheesy Bread appetizer and their Chicken Fettuccine with Alfredo sauce are my go-to dishes here. I've had their fish and chips which are also excellent! The service is fast and the quality of food is fairly consistent the many times I've come to The City Fish. The only dish that I would unfortunately recommend to shy away from is their clam chowder; save your cravings for the Monterey wharf or Pismo Beach. This is a solid joint and the staff is very friendly!

Service was great. Atmosphere was relaxed. Oysters tasted fresh. They left pieces of shell when they shucked them, very inconvenient, but the oysters were good.

For someone who loves seafood, this is a good place to check out. All the dishes we ordered tastes so good that we will definitely going back to try the other dishes. The calamari is not so oily compared to the other calamari I've tried and the breading is not thick so you can definitely enjoy the dish. The fish tacos were fulfilling for its price. I wish there's more fish in it than the veggies but it's still good. The 4 prawns and 4 scallops combo were good too. The breading is thick like for tempura which mentioned on the menu. They really give you 4 pieces of prawns and 4 pieces of scallops. We ended up having 5 breaded scallops because 2 of them were halves. The green and black mussels tastes good and its size were medium to large so it's worth it. We went to other restaurants that have something similar and it's usually on a smaller end. The service was good. They come and checked on us twice if we're doing okay. In addition, they made sure that they removed some plates to make room in our table. This restaurant is good for casual hangouts. The vibe is like Boiling Crab/ Wing Stop with how much space they have but also the tvs they have around the restaurant.

I ordered a one piece fish $12 on the menu, they charged 12.48$. A 1% non-cash transaction is .12 cents, then they tax the transaction fee rather than after. What a bad business practice!

Tried this place for the first time and boy was I impressed! Great service and vibe. You can see them cooking the food and smells great across the board. Well priced and love supporting local businesses. Well worth a try and can't wait to try other items on the menu!

Since they have outdoor seating according to the amenities on Yelp, Are they dog friendly?

I think they ignore it. I saw a dog there today but it was tiny, maybe 6 pounds. They might notice a huge scary looking dog.

How is the fish n chips prepared? Are the “chips” made like steak fries or crinkle cut fries? Are thry known for their Fish n chip or for something else?

More like steak fries. The fish and chips were wonderful!

We started with the steamed clams in this garlic sauce, which were AMAZING. The sauce was so flavorful, and dipping the bread into it made it even better. We also ordered the beet salad, which was pretty good, along with the seafood linguini and seafood paella. The linguini was decent, but the seafood paella was definitely the star. It had a creamier, cheesier flavor compared to traditional paella, but it was so rich and satisfying. Service was great, and the atmosphere makes it a perfect place to sit down, relax, and enjoy your company. I've seen some reviews mentioning slow service, but honestly, I think we're just so used to being in a rush.. this felt like a nice, leisurely dining experience. I'll definitely be back to try their loaded clam chowder on Sundays!

Our server was…read morekind and doing their best, but the food quality and overall experience were not good at all. We drove almost 3 hours to visit while spending the day in the area, and honestly, we would've rather grabbed fast food instead. What made it worse was that we were hoping to treat our mom to a nice meal, but all of us ended up disliking the food. The appetizer plates we were first given were visibly dirty, so we had to ask for clean replacements right away. A few people in our group ordered the loaded clam chowder since we'd seen so many positive reviews online, but it was extremely underwhelming. The seafood tasted undercooked and the soup itself had barely any flavor. The wait time was also frustrating. We received appetizers fairly quickly, but waited almost an hour and a half for our entrees. During that time, staff kept coming by offering extra bread and refills we didn't ask for, which honestly felt more like an attempt to make up for the long delay. Meanwhile, several larger parties that arrived after us were served their meals before we were, even though our group was only 5 people. What also made the experience uncomfortable was that once our food finally arrived, we felt rushed to leave. After waiting, staff were already trying to clear plates while some of us were still eating, which felt unfair considering the delay was completely out of our control. By the time the food finally arrived, the quality just did not justify the wait. Overall, it was a very disappointing Mother's Day experience, especially after driving so far. Sadly, we won't be returning.

Bread isn't included, so make sure you also order a side of the toasted bread points. The roasted eggplant sandwich was plentiful and hearty. The Catalan style sautéed prawns were hearty, but spicy just enough. The wine menu was well curated, which I appreciate because it really does have something for everyone. If the weather is hot, you gotta do the crisp and light Chenin Blanc. If you're adventurous, try the Fiano (which isn't a common varietal), and you'll be pleasantly surprised with the fruity undertones. Both paired well with the burrata and the eggplant sandwich. Meanwhile, either of the Pinot Noirs and even the full bodied but not too spicy Syrah were nice complements to the prawns because the dish also had chorizo. It was fun to ask for recommendations and then sample before settling. By doing so, we noticed the wide variety flavor profiles of the foods and the wine pairings, which obviously, makes us want to come back. I mean, we gotta try everything now.

The service was fantastic, glasses constantly being refilled, asked us if we wanted more bread and butter and our server made some great recommendations "5 Stars" The Food: #1. They gave us 2 nice warm bread rolls with a room temperature salted butter cube. The bread at first tasted salty but then my palate caught up and oh snap! this bread was good!! 5 Stars! #2. The server recommended the beef Wellington. "I ordered it med rare, it came to me med rare" it comes with mashed potatoes and longstem broccoli with cherry tomatoes, and a wine/vinegar reduction for the Wellington. The broccoli had a nice crispness to it and were seasoned perfectly, the cherry tomatoes added some brightness. The mashed potatoes were silky smooth and paired perfectly with the Wellington. NOW THE BEEF WELLINGTON: OH MY .....GOSH!!! My eyes rolled back into my head, it was so good!! The beef was as soft as butter, I could have used a butter knife to cut it (not kidding) and it melted in my mouth. The seasoning with the dough and the spinach with the mushrooms inside nearly caused a wet dream (if you get my point) "and don't even get me started on their reduction sauce for the Wellington!" The waiter walked up to me and smiled and said "and I quote"... gives you goosebumps, right? Oh he knew, HE KNEW!! 5++++ Stars! #3. Wifey ordered the Grilled Salmon salad. She ate the Salmon so fast that I barely had a chance to taste it. She said she really liked it, now I did get a chance to taste the salad and I must say that it was so good that it could have been a stand alone dish. Again 5 Stars. #4. When the order came, it had sweet potatoes fries instead of shoe string fries. Again, simple things but the order was incorrect. His name is Christian, I would not get him again period! Now the other servers like Sam,Monique, Jeremy for example are excellent in fact a 5+. So ask for them and your meal will be special because of the service. Hopefully Stacks will take this as constructive criticism. Gino and Clair

Came in for mothers day dinner with my family. Made my reservation through OpenTable and I was able…read moreto get the timeslot that I wanted. It was nice that downtown wasn't too crowded and Willard Hicks wasn't overly crowded either. Ambience was casual and relaxed. We were seated at a booth and given waters and menus to look over. Ordered a couple of appetizers and then our entrées. APPETIZERS WH CRAB CAKES $20.00 FRESH LUMP CRAB, SWEET PEPPERS, CILANTRO, TARRAGON ON A BED OF BABY ARUGULA, SERVED WITH OUR CHIPOTLE AIOLI. Crab cakes were good and paired well with the salad greens that came with them. Would definitely return just for the crabcakes. COCONUT CRUSTED SHRIMP $20.00 COCONUT CRUSTED SHRIMP, SWEET PEPPERS, SCALLIONS. THAI CURRY BROTH, MANGO, MICRO GREENS, PEANUTS. The coconut shrimp were delicious. The coconut crust was crisp and golden brown, cooked to perfection. The broth with the mango and micro greens and peanuts paired very well with the shrimp. I just wish I had a spoon to scoop more of it up. Definitely coming back for this one too. ENTRÉES BLACKBERRY GLAZED FILET MIGNON $60.00 OUR 8OZ CERTIFIED ANGUS BEEF FILET MIGNON, BLACKBERRY DEMI GLACE, FIRE ROASTED GRAPES, BLUE CHEESE, SERVED OVER A TRUFFLED PARSNIP PURÉE. This filet mignon was cooked to perfection. It cut perfectly and just melted in your mouth with every bite. The roasted grapes were a pleasant surprise and paired well and the blackberry Demi glaze gave it good flavor. SURF & TURF $78.00 FILET MIGNON, BUTTER-POACHED LOBSTER TAIL, TRUFFLE MASHED POTATOES, ASPARAGUS, BÉARNAISE SAUCE. The surf and turf entrée was on their Mother's Day special menu. The tripled mashed potatoes were delicious, and the asparagus was cooked to perfection while having a little bit of crunch to it. DESSERT COOKIES AND FROZEN MILK $10.00 FRESHLY BAKED CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIES, WARM FROM THE OVEN, SERVED WITH A SCOOP OF OUR ICE CREAM. This dessert was a big portion with 2 giant cookies and a scoop of vanilla ice cream. Cookies were crunchy and had a warm soft center. They paired well with the cookies and drizzle of chocolate. BUTTER CAKE $14.00 WARM BUTTER CAKE, FRESH STRAWBERRIES AND VANILLA BEAN ICE CREAM. Butter cake was good and paired well with strawberries and a scoop of vanilla ice cream. Customer service not bad, however, it could have been better.

The food was great, but the service was sub par. We had to get up 3× to request things such as salt…read moreand pepper, more sour cream, and onion for our potatoes, and cutlery. They just weren't checking in on us. Granted we were in the corner near the entrance and kind of tucked away which was nice. The place also was not busy as it was 530 on a Sunday with plenty of open tables. But near the end, they seem to be more attentive. There's lots of parking nearby on the street and in a covered parking lot where you could charge up your car if you needed to. And easily assessable if you were in a wheelchair.
