First time here a week ago. I love seafood and they didn't disappoint. I had the El Maleficio and it was great. The aguachile shrimp was perfect. The slices of pulpo (octopus for all the greengos) were tender and delishious. Wash it all down with an iced cold chavela and it's hard to beat. Will definitely go back. P.S. If I had a negative 1 star, that's what I would give this location. It was our first and last time ever coming to this place. Previously hearing all the raves and rants about this location, my expectations were high. We sat outside in the cold obviously due to Covid restrictions. We ordered one plate of fried octopus and the 2 for 1 sushi rolls and two beers. Mind you it was about 730pm, and we enjoyed our drinks. After a while, we got a bit restless and noticed the table next to us had still been waiting for their food. After about 830 I had to use their restroom, as I waited I noticed our server on her "break".. fine. Not once did she check on us or to assure us that our food was pending. Nothing. I came out and my boyfriend had his plate but not my sushi. They told him it was "coming" and to add the wait his food was super cold. Like it had been sitting out for an hour. The octopus tasted like rubber! I asked another server to box up my food if it was even ready. Finally our server comes out well we pay and said never again.. get home only to see my sushi rolls were horrible and looked like the exact same thing and tasted horrible. Money wasted and food wasted. Sorry El Capitan but your management needs serious refinement on quality of food and revise your customer service standards. Super bummed. read more

This place ripped us off!! If there would be zero stars, i would put that. We ordered two chavelaz, one normal and the other the VIP type. When we got them, they only put 3 shrimps on toothpicks, but the worse is that it was in a standard chavela cup and not the larget mug but still charged us the up-price. After that we asked for the bill and the total came up to ~23$ like..damn. clearly the receipt didt show this and when they charged the card we couldn't even skip the tip! This place use to have better service, but my recent visit was very disappointing. The restaurant seemed slow enough but apparently for a party of two it takes 40 minutes to get our food. What's worse half of the food was cold and not appetizing. Although it could be the cooks are to blame but they had five cooks in the kitchen. The waiter seemed to be avoiding our table as well. We were never offered refills, and when we ran out of chips she never offered to get more. It was embarrassing to have to ask for things. We spent an hour and a half there. It was ridiculous. However as we were leaving I noticed something crawling on the wall and yup it was what I was afraid it would be a cockroach and no it's not the average huge outside cockroach this was a house roach and it was pretty big I'm sure they must be infested it looked as it would be coming from the kitchen being we were sitting in the corner booth to the right as you enter. Very good food, sometimes it gets to noisy (for my taste), but other wise it has a great selection of sea food, with big portions (a plus). The only thing I didn't like is that the last time we were there one of the waitresses came out of the restroom and seemed to be drunk or high, she could barely walk, one of the other waitresses took her through the kitchen because she was just making a fool of herself. Up to today I've always had a great experience at El Capitan, but today during my lunch, which we came to celebrate one of my coworker's birthday, I had a really bad experience unfortunately. It was all going well, all of my coworkers had received their food and were eating, I was waiting for mine when finally it came out, but was the wrong order, I had ordered Chicken teriyaki with steam rice but received something with shrimp and rice, the waitress came back and said that she had placed the order wrong. So i asked to put my order to go because we had to get back to work. I had also order Stuffed Jalapeños, but received Stuffed yellow peppers, which I had spoken to the waitress before ordering asking her specifically for Jalapeños not the yellow peppers. After this I told her that I had received the wrong order again that these weren't Jalapeños, and she gave me a smirk and said that the cook had told her they were made with Jalapeños and she did not take them back. SonI had to sit through my lunch hour without my food. Luckily my coworkers shared a taco with me but was really disappointed. I still left a tip for the waitress even though service was not up to par. I took my order to go and I would have to eat it on my next break. When I started eating the teriyaki chicken, I noticed that some of the chicken was chewy and realized that it was very undercooked almost raw, it still looked pinkish, I stopped eating it and was left without lunch that day and hopefully I do not get food poisoning. This place does not respect the music times. We specifically called at 1pm to make sure the banda would not play until after 5 and they assured us that the music would start at 5. We arrived at 3:30 and the music was so loud I was not able to even communicate with the front desk lady. She explained that the band came early which is no excuse. The ambience is really good, the service was wonderful, the sushi was ok, but I had the shrimp cocktail with octopus. I felt like the octopus was not cooked all the way and was a little squishy and raw. The cocktail was very salty and had a lot of spice to it, which I'm not used to. Im not sure what gave me the upset stomach, The uncooked octopus, the salt or the spice.
