This place has a very large menu, but it leans heavily toward seafood. If you're coming specifically for mariscos, you'll probably enjoy it. If not, the experience is pretty hit-or-miss. I ordered an enchilada and asked to add chicken, but the chicken tasted burnt and wasn't very good. There's also no mole on the menu, which was disappointing. Overall, the non-seafood plates just didn't impress. The portions are huge, though. My husband had to take his burrito home, and I had to take my enchilada home as well -- definitely generous servings. For the kids: the burger was good, but the chicken nuggets were awful. They were extremely hard and overcooked, mostly breading with barely any chicken inside. Service was another downside. It wasn't very attentive, and on top of that, drinks are canned Diet Coke only -- no refills, which feels outdated for a sit-down restaurant. What really rubbed us the wrong way was the bill. The suggested tip was calculated after taxes, not on the subtotal. That's not standard practice, and it felt like an attempt to squeeze out a higher tip -- especially when the service didn't warrant 20% to begin with. Tips should be based on the pre-tax subtotal, not the total with tax included. Overall, this place is probably best if you're ordering shrimp cocktail, ceviche, or other seafood dishes. The non-seafood options and service weren't great, and I wouldn't return unless it was strictly for a shrimp cocktail. read more

I wanted to like this place so bad. It's cute and has character and the food looks SO SO good. However the flavors of what we ordered fell a little flat. I want to come back and try something else out. Our Mocajete almost everything in it was overcooked and bland tasting. The chicken and beef were dry, we got our food almost 10 minutes apart from one another, and to top it off it was quite spendy. If there half stars, I would likely rate 3.5. coming here at 5:30-ish on Sunday was coming to an empty restaurant. We were a party of six. Waitresses were nice and greeted us, said "anywhere is fine" for seating. Most were booths seating four people or round tables seating five. We had to sit at the large table that could have sat 12. Divider wall In middle between two seating areas. Restrooms are in the other half. Food took average time coming out. Homemade corn tortillas is why I score this place the .5. but nothing stood out. Shrimp cocktail was alright, watered down like someone else reviewed. Husband and son shared an asada burrito. Salsas were on the south side (I'm a spicy sauce person). Even guac sauce was more sour than guac. Chips were tostadas and saltine crackers. The kids got a kick out from it being individually wrapped! The kids got quesadillas and fries. They have both white or red rice her so I guess that's a good option. I tried shrimp diabla. It's more sweet and sour tomatoes than hot/spicy (again, I like it spicy/hot). I don't think this will be a place I'd come back to...maybe only for the tortillas lol. It's pricey since the restaurant name has mariscos (seafood) in it. Perhaps cause it's also by the mall? Place has Mexican music playing in background and four TV screens in room I sat in. All random stuff on. Total damage was around $110. Usually, I can feed my family of 8 at other Mexican restaurants and pay around $100. This time, I was less two people and paid above our usual. Oh, the sixth person didn't order anything either so really five ppl at 110 versus eight ppl at 100. Same local area restaurant. Hope this review helps. read more

The food was pretty good, great seasoning to be honest. The camarones a la diabla could use more chili, maybe the red sauce served with the burrito. The burrito had good flavor as well. Service was good and the ambiance was good, was nice and quiet and they had plenty of football games on and soccer as well. Will definitely be back when In town and also recommend. Wasn't a wait but did get pretty packed quick. Only piece of advice would be on the menu, to write if the item is going to take a while to cook or let the customer beforehand. read more

We wanted some seafood and found this place. The menu was a bit overwhelming. Too many options. The waitress recommended picking one of the hot stone bowls. We picked the one with seafood and beef. You can't tell the size of this from the menu. The waitress said it was big enough for two. It came with tortilla wraps and some rice and beans. The dish was above expectations. Everything was seasoned well. The portions were generous. We tried to finish this, and at the end we stop wrapping this inside the tortilla and just ate the ingredients straight from the stone bowl as we were so full. It's one of the pricier items on the menu. But we felt we got our moneys worth. Definitely recommend this place. Delicious! We love seafood so this was the place for us. Big serving sizes and homemade tortillas. Plus did I mention agua de tamarindo too. I could never seem to find that agua fresca anywhere these days so I was very surprised they had it. It was expensive, but for being seafood, that's to be expected. We decided to give this place a try randomly for lunch one day because we happened to be in the same parking lot. At first, I thought they were closed because the windows were dark, but they were open! The menu is quite large with a variety of dishes to choose from with lots of seafood options or regular options for people like my Fiancé who don't like seafood particularly. The waitress was nice and answered any questions we had. They give you chips and salsa while you wait for the food, which was nice because the food took a long time to come out, and there weren't many of us in there. When the food finally came it was nice and hot. The meat and shrimp on my plate were nicely seasoned and cooked well. The beans, on the other hand, needed salt. When Los Adas de Manzanillo closed after providing the best fish ceviche and hand-made tortillas for so many decades, we needed to find a new source. It's Mariscos El Diamante! After a half dozen visits, each meal fabulous, we tried the Molcajete Azteca. Wow! A searing hot lava bowl filled with strips of grilled steak, chicken, nopales, as well as giant ceballos, homemade chorizo and melty cheese. This is a favorite dish for us which we have had often at other restaurants, but this one was perfecto! If you like seafood, their mixed shellfish in a grilled half pineapple is amazing, too. Multiple types of shellfish, each one cooked to their individual perfection, nested with grilled pineapple. Yum! The restaurant's decor is colorful and the service is excellent. read more

I decided to have dinner here, the 7 mares looked amazing on the menu and on yelp pics. I waited about 30 minutes for my soup, it came with corn tortillas, home made.. yum! I noticed the shrimp that was cut in half was dissolving, not very fresh and the muscles were bitter, the octopus was in nice thin slivers and that was delicious as well as the fish, I was trying the sea food on its own because I couldn't get passed a sour taste in the broth, I've never had a 7 mares that was sour like that and I hadn't added any lemon or anything to it, so I was concerned and asked if this was the way it was supposed to taste, they took it back to the kitchen and said the cook tried my soup and said it was fine?? I then said ok as long as it's not spoiled broth I'll keep it and just fish out the rest of the sea food, at this time the server saw I wasn't going to eat it so she asked if they can make something else for me, so I played it safe and ordered the crispy shrimp tacos. Waited another 20 minutes and my food came out, they were wonderful. When I got the check I saw they charged me 50% of the 7 mares?? I was like... I didn't even eat half of it, I took two shrimp out because they had dissolved and ate 1 piece of fish actually half a piece of the fish because the rest was on the plate. Didn't even touch the crab or any of the whole shrimp. They took the plate away and I was still charged 50%. I don't think that's right. The cashier told me that if they don't charge me for it that they would get charged?? Wth? I did not eat 11.99 worth of food and wasn't going to make a scene or argue, so I guess I just won't be coming back. You can't expect a customer to pay for something they didn't eat especially because it tasted spoiled sour rancid. Maybe that's the way they like their caldos but not me. So be prepared to pay for the food you don't like or if it's not fresh and you send it back, I'm still in shock lol, this has never happened to me before. read more
