ORDERED: Tacos de Pescado Was in town & wanted fish tacos before driving 3 hours back home. When I walked into the restaurant, the place smelled delicious! It made me very excited for the meal. The salsa for the chips actually had a spice to them - which I loved!! I ordered the fish tacos & when they came out, the plate was super hot (I was warned)! The rice & beans were good & warm (nothing stood out though) but the fish tacos were so hot that I had to wait a bit before eating them (not a bad problem to have). I wasn't too sure what to expect for the fish tacos but when receiving them, it was slightly disappointing to see that the fish tacos were so plain... The fish itself was lightly seasoned & the 2 additional salsas that were brought to my table definitely brought more flavor. Both the tomatillo & Maria salsas were very good but I couldn't decide which was my favorite so I just kept alternating between the 2. The Mexican salad, of course, brought out more dimension & made it refreshing when added to the tacos. I think a creamy salsa or avocado would've made the meal better but I forgot to ask. If I was craving fish tacos (the thing I order most), I can't say I would come back here for them, but I would come back & try a different dish from them. The staff was lovely & attentive! BATHROOM: I did stop by the bathroom before heading out but there was no air circulation in there at all & on a 100+ degree day it felt like a sauna... in a bad way... Came into the restaurant at 1:30pm on a Sunday & the bathroom trashes were overflowing, there was no toilet seat covers, & it gave an overall sticky feeling. The food here looked ok, but it was bland and lacked depth that typically comes with good Mexican food. I ordered the chicken mole and my wife ordered the carne asada burrito. The mole flavor was not there and it tasted more like a sweet enchilada sauce. The sides were decent, like the beans, but the rice could have stayed in the pot and not on my plate. My wife's burrito was the same story. Bland dry steak and the tortilla had an interesting pillow texture and not in a good way. Along with the food, there's really no vibe here. Odd lighting and no music makes for that awkward moment when you realize you're a loud talker. I will say, the salsas were decent and the staff was very nice, but the food was a not good. read more

After putting it off numerous times, and a recommendation from a coworker, I deciced to give it a try. Service: Came in around lunch time. We were a party of 6 but 4 of us arrived earlier. They advised us that they can immediately seat us while we waited. We were provided menus and our choice of drinks. The staff serving us was pleasant. 5 of 5 stars. Food/Offering: I ordered the lunch special of 2 chicken enchiladas with rice and beans. Complementary nachos/salsa were also provided. Although the chicken enchiladas were good, the red sauce was a tad lacking in flavor. The beans and rice were good. Still a 5 of 5 stars. Overall: As a first time visitor, I pleasantly impressed. It's more than enough for 2-3 people. The tilapia fajitas is what I usually order. It's one of my favorite dishes, aside the cabbage side they give you with tortilla chips. Most Mexican restaurants normally don't offer tilapia fajitas, so it's one of my go tos when ordering here. The service is always great. Everyone is usually very attentive. Talavera pottery and accents set the mood for the amazing meal we enjoyed today. We arrived to ample parking in the large Barnyard center and were promptly seated. Mexican food is typically our "go to" food due to my issues with gluten. Our server was prompt, he took our drink order and returned to take our food order. The chips were fresh, warm and not salty! Additional to the amazing house salsa was an unusual but tasty Cole slaw. The slaw had tiny bits of jalapeno, oregano and tomato. Truly a uniquely pleasing salad. We both enjoyed 2 chicken tacos with a chicken enchilada. The food was particularly flavorful without being overly salty or spicy. Not a great experience there at all, the window we sat by had active termites and droppings in the window seal, i understand you can't control where termites happen at but come on at least clean it up or block that table off. My wife got menudo and it smelled really bad because they didn't properly clean the tripe before cooking it. Also we asked for a refill on our chip basket and when we got the bill we were charged for the chips, which has never happened, I asked why and she said they are only refilled if you have a big party, the waitress could have communicated to us there was a charge on the refill of chips but she didn't say anything, it was a very bad experience, I am not happy about spending any money here. read more

Food: I have ordered 100's od chili rellenos from scores of restaurants, and I've never had a chili relleno like they serve at Hacienda Tequila. In short, it was not good. In fact, it was terrible. It was a small piece of chili with a lot of cheese wrapped up in some sort of dry, egg wrap. It was then topped with a very bland enchilada sauce. The tamale was okay, but was not wrapped in a corn husk and was sparsely filled with pork. The massa was very thick and topped with the same, bland enchilada sauce. The refried beans and rice were very good; unfortunately, the entrees did not rise to the sides. Service: The waitress that took my order disappeared after she delivered my meal. When I finished the subpar meal ( and waiting 8 minutes for the check), I had to walk to the register to get my check. I was waiting for someone to ask me how my meal was. Personally, I think they have the BEST shredded beef tacos in town. They also have a pretty delicious charbroiled chicken, that my husband often requests his enchiladas to be made out of. They have a mild shredded cabbage 'salsa' that has no 'heat', which my husband likes and hogs. Their tortilla chips are very thin and crispy (Uh-oh, now I want some) and their red salsa has a nice heat to it. . . My minimum is two bowls of it. LOL! They offer WHOLE BEANS or refried beans.
