Hello all just visited this place on a hunch and WOW! The outside is very deceiving! Beautiful the food and service is great! We started with micheladas to set the pallet, food wise I hade the Camaros costa azul an order of agua chiles a tostada mixta and a carne asada plate to round off our dinner.... Portions are BIG! Very tasty and fresh! The servers are very attentive and friendly. Prices are competitive considering nothing is cheap anymore! I fell in love with this place because of the cucaracha shrimp. They are simply amazing but the last two times the shrimp is expired. It's mushy nasty. The first time it happened the girl mentioned they changed shrimp providers and she made me a fresh batch and they were amazing. After the Pomona Swapmeet, we were craving some mariscos and came across this little joint. We ordered the mixed molcajete and 2 micheladas. The food was superb, spicy, flavorful, and yuuum-aaay. Humongous, not stingy on seafood and shared a Agua Chilies. Both were on point, both had great flavor. The Agua Chilies had the perfect amount of heat that crept up on you. Down home, mini stripmall Mexican eatery with the emphasis on seafood from the west coast specifically from Nayarit & Jalisco. Our waitress was on top of things by coming by often & making sure that we were well provisioned. I find that many of the best tastIng & affordable eats in L.A. are found in humble strip malls so don't let the basic décor of Pacífico dissuade you from visitIng. Mainly Latino clientele which bodes well for "authenticity". The Red Salsa here is excellent w/ a rich tomato sweet acidic flavour, garlic, chopped onions, perhaps a bit of oregano. All this is left to lightly ferment to a mellow, viscous, subtly complex Umami. It pairs well to their light, crispy Totopos/corn tortilla chips. The green salsa is watery, smelling of potent, piquancy from possibly Jalapeño or Serrano chiles. Add this green salsa to the red if it isn't spicy enough. 1) Taco de Camarones: grilled shrimp, shredded cabbage, purple onion, tomato, cilantro, Crema Mexicana on two soft corn tortillas. Least exciting of the sampled tacos. 2) Taco de Pescado: Empanizado/breaded, fried. Crispy yet overcooked so the delicate white fish meat loses its subtle flavours. Still pleasant enough. Same garnish as the taco de camarones. 3) Taco al Pastor has a pleasing pork belly sensation: fatty, chewy, porky augmented by a possibly citrus and/or pineapple marinade along with a touch of sweet, fermented fruit based sauce such worchester sauce & dried chiles. 4) Taco Governador: Like a Mulita. Corn tortilla is grilled with melted light yellowish white cheese, chopped golden orange & red bell peppers and shrimp. The cheese adds a satisfying oily, dairy fermented Umami that unifies the earthy corn, sweet bell herbal, and oceanic shrimp. 5) Camarones a la Cucaracha: This bold seafood dish is listed as a Botana/snack to go along with thirst quenching, well constructed Mexican beer. These whole shrimps, heads on, are sautéed in an extra rich, salty sauce that seems sweet red chile oil based as well as having a thick brown meaty broth. Shrimp is a bit overcooked so the meat comes out dry. Shuck the shell and get to the meat, drink beer and repeat. 1-5a) Cerveza Modelo Negra: Dark beer that is mellow, smooth, at the same time refreshing and light. Good accompaniment to all the above. For me, the main event was the sauce. Probably the best molcajete sauce I've tasted. Not that spicy and full of flavor. Dipping the tortilla in the sauce got better and better each time. I order a dozen raw oysters and the minute I open the box there's already a red flag. The oyster was not at all plump. They were all paper thin, flat and mushy looking. The oysters were clearly not fresh at all. No amount of lemon could mask the bitterness and weird aftertaste. Giving one star for serving bad oysters. read more

The decor is a little date and the inside could use some revamping but the service and the food made up for all of that. I ordered the mojarra with diabla sauce. That was cooked too perfection (most places over fry it so the fish sticks to the bones). I also ordered their horchata which was very good and came in a giant cup. ***EXCELLENT SEA FOOD*** The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because it's not an attractive restaurant. What it lacks in looks it way than makes up in: 1. SERVICE: Absolutely friendly, quick, professional and attentive. Our server was lovely and kept an eye out for anything we might need. We literally didn't have to ask for anything other than what we ordered because she anticipated everything we could have wanted. 2. FOOD: I went in for a coctel de camarón but ended up getting the mojarra frita because it looked so delicious... and it was!!! My husband got the "coctelaso" which had ALL the seafood in it. Talk about generous portions... it was crammed with yumminess not like other places where you run out of shrimp long before the sauce is gone 3. LOCATION: For those of us this side of the 605 freeway it's a great compromise for Downtown Los Angeles... all the authenticity without the commute! Checked this place out on a Saturday early evening. I did not wait. The service is great. The food is like 3 to 4 stars. The salsa they bring out on the table is not spicy at all, more like Pace. The chips are good, they were warm so I am assuming they make them in house? My dad had the caldo de pescado, he said it was good but not the best. He said one of the better ones is from El Guero in Chino Hills. My mom had the camarones a la diabla. We asked the waitress if they were spicy, she said yes. When they came out the were not spicy lol they were actually SWEET. This place is legit. Their agua chile is so good. I ask for their green salsa which is so much more spicy than their red salsa. I dare you to try it. It's amazing. I also enjoy their michiladas. We get chips and salsa when seated (pre covid) and the service is great. I've been here several times and their food is good. After several attempts of trying to find a mariscos in the area and we yelped a few . We found that islas was the more inviting. There dining area was the nicer of the ones we had stopped at. First off the michaladas are Taughted as the best in town i haven't tried any others in town but I'd say they rank up there. I took awhile to get are food also it came out one plate at a time which I'm not too fond of I'd like to eat as a family . The side dishes (beans, rice) were cold the main dish was hot being that probably the side dishes sat for ahwhile The shrimp bacon wrapped was a lil disappointing very tiny mostly bacon. I'm going to get straight point. Shrimp taco sucked no flavor, Bland! Coctel was ok nothing spectacular had way better. Mojarra Frita plate well let's just say only the mojarra was good the rice and beans it came with sucked (bland). Oisters were ok I think the way they prepared it to make it look was better than the actual taste itself. Margaritas were ok also. All in all majority of the items lacked flavor will not come back. Sunday was my first time eating at this restaurant and we had a great experience with food and customer service. We wanted seafood and this restaurant was close by. When we walked in we waited for a minute to be seated and the waitress that was assisting somebody else at that time smiled and told us that we could seat anywhere we liked. Pros - A friend brought me here knowing I loves mariscos, and thought I'd like it; they were absolutely correct. They always serve ya free chips with red and green salsa while ordering. Ceviche tostadas and the aguachiles are something to definitely try out here (you can definitely get full from one tostada, and the aguachiles here are nice n spicy). Shrimp here tastes pretty fresh by the way! I like that they have multiple hot sauces to choose from besides the typical tapatio. The Jamaica juice here tastes fresh also. My friend also mentioned that if you happen to order the ceviche to go, that they'll usually add in more than they regularly would (still have yet to try it out though). Cons - The ambiance for the place isn't impressive... The furniture and decorations look outdated/ tacky, and the flickered lighting in here really bothers me. The servers here, although not the worst I've dealt with, hardly seem upbeat and attentive enough for me to consider tipping. Price-wise I think they overcharge a bit for certain items, even considering it's seafood. Weirdly, I liked the chicken more than the carne Asada, the chicken was way more tender and soft with tons of flavor. What threw me off for the asada was how hard it was. It was bite-able but just wasn't as tender as other places I've had. Along with tacos they also gave me free chips and a good amount of salsa. Their salsas were delicious! It doesn't look like this place gets busy at all, I think most just get to go. Here and there you will prob see older people sitting down eating while watching novellas.
