This place is great, just need a bit of organization with service: they really do their best, but details such as bringing a spoon to serve a sauce, beans, or knives for each, prives them from officially being above their game. Also, if you want extra homemade salsa, you must pay for each. Usually, a fine cuisine restaurant would never do that, that should be part of their "staple". The pescado zarandeado is very good and that definitely deserves a higher rating than my 2 starts. The reason for my rating is because the Mariscos were not good at all. They definitely need to reconsider their recipe. Another reason for the low rating is their customer service and waitresses are absolutely horrible. I have never received such poor service anywhere. My fiancé and I came here because we love seafood and wanted to try a new spot. Honestly, I didn't know what to expect but it was a great surprise. There was someone outside directly the parking lot. The servers came out to you as you pick your spot and before you are even seating they bring you chips and salsa. I wanted a lemonade but they didn't have any on the menu - this sweetheart comes back and said I MADE YOU ONE. He freshly squeezed the lemons and put sugar for me. You don't get an assigned waiter, they all do rounds and check on you really often. Drinks come out immediately, the famous dish "pescado zarandeado" takes about 15 minutes but it makes sense that it would. The food was bomb, parking was easy, and staff was a 10/10. Also, it's much more family friendly here because it's not like the buchona mariscos places with music blaring and waitresses with they're junk out ‍. This is the kind of food that I dream about sometimes. Fresh ingredients and potent raw sea food always puts more pep in my step. It definitely keeps the lead in my pencil going that's for sure. Mariscos are good for my YANG! This place is in the hood and lots of alcohol is being consumed so be mindful of your surroundings and loved ones. Lynwood remains the wild west in many ways. Keep trucha amigos. Being kind, considerate, and respectful can be contagious. Love is Real! Only down side is that every couple of years the restaurant raises the prices. The portions are fairly decent. The portions use to be ginormous when they first opened. That was many, many, many years ago. I'm just glad they're still here. I absolutely loved, and enjoyed this place. It was recommended to me by my coworker. Finally went and it didn't disappoint! We didn't know you were supposed to go around the back lol so at first we tried going through the front two doors then we almost went into the kitchen. Haha next time we know just to sit down at a table. Anyhow, the servers were great, excellent service they were very kind and attentive. We ordered the tostada de jaiva (which made about 6 tostada's) and the green salsa that came with it was yummy, also we ordered the Pescado zarandeado, the Huachinango (red snapper) it was huge! It was served with lots of warm corn tortillas, sliced red onions, tomatoes, and cucumbers, and red salsa. It was delicious we will definitely come back. I highly recommend it. Beers were ice cold, and the ambiance was chill, casual and cozy. Only thing is I wish they were open a bit later, they close kind of early. But all in all I can't wait to come here again. read more

This Review is really hard for me to write because this place holds a lot of nostalgia. I used to come here with my dad when I was ever since I was a child and I had nothing but good memories of the place and the food was pretty good then. As far as atmosphere, the restaurant hasn't really changed that much over time but food wise it's definitely declined. I went on Oct. 10 to go get a pescado zarandeado and 2 aguachiles. I paid 80 bucks and the portions/ quality was just not there. I've made pescado zarandeado before and the one I bought from here was so lazily prepared, it's like they just slathered tapatío on it and called it a day. With those prices you'd expect more effort. The aguachiles tasted okay, but the portions were small and there was more onion than anything. One thing I've noticed is that it seems COVID isn't a thing here. Not trying to be a Karen, but there were music groups playing without masks as before COVID. This is not appropriate given the circumstances. read more

my first time here and the fish was sooo good! the space is very open, the service is nice, the people are friendly. i came on a tuesday around 2pm and there were only a few people there, which surprised my friend because he said it's usually hella packed! the only thing that was a buzzkill was this man was basically trying to force us to buy bracelets and toys off of him. i get it, he's hustling, but... stop making me feel bad. we eventually gave him a $20 to leave us alone. read more

When it was brought to the owner's attention that the campechana had no flavor, he told us to just leave the restaurant. He couldn't take a feedback because he was DRUNK! My dad brought me here during the week. I am a huge fan of Mariscos so I was somewhat exited to check this place out. It was a commute for us and as we arrived the parking was very small but we found parking right away. Also the entrance to the restaurant is actually in the back. It was a bit unusual and also looked like a back yard. As we made our way over to a table I noticed how big it was. It seemed like it gets crowded on the weekends and in fact my dad did mention it get busy. I ordered my usual; ceviche, oysters, tostada de Jaiva, and my dad ordered the famous fish. I had a personal bad experience so I'm really scared to try it however I heard great things about it here. We stayed here for quite some time and really enjoyed ourselves. I don't recommend this place. It totally gives you the Mexico vibes when you're there not sure if that's why it's expensive "for the experience". Parking is horrible. It's so small and it's hard to leave. The high chair for the baby had RIPPED straps so I had to put my hand on my baby the entire time. I usually bring my own high chair to go and the day I didn't this happens. They use paper plates for everything except the oysters. The don't have much beer selection which is upsetting considering it's a Mariscos restaurant. The music was okay not too loud. The food was flavorless. The cocktail juice tasted like water. We put so much salt, lime, ketchup and tapatio and still needed flavor. The shrimp ceviche was full of vegetables with a couple shrimps for $9. The fish ceviche had so much carrots it looked orange. The only thing that was okay were the oyster. They were small, but tasted good. It was very expensive. $100 for 3 shrimp cocktails, one beer, dozen oysters, two ceviche tostadas. I wouldn't mind paying more if the food was good with flavor. Service was also not so great. Never asked if we needed anything. The entire time I couldn't enjoy my food due to having to hold my baby while he was in the high chair. You'd think they could afford to buy more since they charge so much. read more

I ordered a couple Of tostadas 2 shrimp cooked in lime (but honestly, they tasted as if they were just washed and thrown in the tostada with a bunch of cucumber, tomatoes and onions) yuck, just thinking about it makes me gag... I'm a Marisco/ seafood lover and I feel this place has a lot to do in terms of growing their menu or changing the way they make it. I also ordered a ceviche de pescado (zero flavor!!) I just grabbed my spoon and had a lil (again just to Taste it) and from what I know ceviche de pescado is cooked with lime, (zero like seriously, ZERO flavor!!) also I ordered through Door dash, (You do not send a tostada prepared to eat) you add in a cup with a tostada in the side. Anyway, being that all the tostadas were all saggy I did appreciate that they add some On the side (but ultimately all ceviches were too nasty to eat) I usually ordered from MARISCOS Choix, but wanted to try something new and well, I was disappointed. I hope my review helps them improve, otherwise the only thing I did enjoyed from my order was my Can coke. Worst place I've ever eaten at. We ordered 4 items the only one that made it was the Sarandeado and it was a starved ass fish. There was literally no meat in it. The tortillas were cold and there was so many flies and stray cats around. The server was rude and wasn't even apologetic when he forgot more than half the order. He simply said " u got what u got". Not as clean as It should be, customer service is not great. Food has absolutely no flavor. We ordered a Jaiva tostada and it literally looked like they grabbed it from the pack , shred it quickly and threw it on a paper plate. No lemon, no onion no tomato on it absolutely nothing on it and was super dry. We also ordered a shrimp cocktail and it was hot, shrimp was dirty and had no taste . For a second I almost forgot I was still in the states! If you truly want an awesome mexican style dining experience with authentic mexican food & music this is the place to be. It's outdoor seating for the most part and the restaurant resembles a backyard more closely than it does a dining establishment. There are a variety of vendors that sell everything from DVDs to roses and even homemade cheese. its literally like something you would expect to find on the other side of the border. I can't write on behalf of the entire menu (I actually didn't even take a look at it) but I can tell you that the pescado sarandeado was the best fish I've ever had...coming from a fish HATER that's pretty darn good. One order is good enough to share with another person but if you're eating for two or capable of eating for two you're better off getting your own. They don't have an alcohol license so it's BYOB ;) If you're not used to the hood you might feel a little on edge because of the demographics but it's all good. get there early, get your grub on, your drink on, enjoy the music, face painting, balloon-making and I can guaranteed you'll have a good time here. read more

This place is like stepping into Mexico along with Norteños and street vendors selling trinkets, candy, DVDs, CDs, baked goods, and other stuff. The songs are a bit pricey at about $5 per song you request, but usually someone is buying some so there is always music playing. Most of the seating is outdoor patio seating with tables, chairs, and huge umbrellas for sunny days. The only dishes I like are the ceviche de camaron con pulpo (shrimp and octupus) and pescado zarandeado. Both these dishes are authentic and delicious! They didn't used to have a license to sell alcohol, but they do now. :) Nayarit is a small hole in the wall kind of place, but if you are missing your roots and want a little piece of Mexico, this is the place to go to! Its been like 10 yrs since the last time i ate here. Our tab was $78 and we had one tostada de ceviche de pescado and a tostada de ceviche de camaron. 3 modelos 2 cokes and 2kg of pescado zarandeado. We also ordered the aguachile which we had to send back. It was gray and the veins were not removed. NEVER ORDER ANYTHIN WITH SHRIMP. it was gross i couldnt believe they could send somethin of that quality out. When we asked to send it back the waiter gave us a hard time talkin about "theres nothing wrong with it, thats how we serve it here" im a server if someone sends somethin back i apologize and take it back and let my kitchen know. I dont bicker with my patrons!! The food came out fairly quickly but why wouldnt it, it wasnt even cooked. Its a cool place to chill with a large group or a family lunch theres live music (we had a drunk girl singing her lungs out it wasnt pretty so hopefully you dont get an annoyin drunk when you go) and the occassional vendors. from cds to belts you name it you'll find it.
