At one point, I asked to close my tab. While paying, I told the waitress I wanted 5 extra shots and to just take it from the change since I had given her more than enough cash. I also told her to let me know if I was short. Instead, she brought me my change and the shots, which made me assume everything was covered. We took the shots, said our goodbyes, and left. No one stopped us or mentioned anything, and part of our group had already taken off. About 15 minutes later, my friend and I decided to go back in for one more bucket of beers. When we returned, the manager and waitress told us to go ahead and sit back down like everything was fine. After ordering and paying for the beers, the waitress then told me I still owed money for the 5 shots. I was confused, so I spoke to the manager. Honestly, I could have just left it at that since the mistake was on their end, but I chose to pay anyway. Situations like this make it feel like you're being overcharged, especially in an environment where people are already buzzed.
