I've been seeing Dr. Sender for a year. He's a fabulous, caring Dr.. He has helped me so much.

I have a history of kidney stones. I know when they are causing a problem and for the last 3 weeks I have been in a lot of pain. It is the typical flank pain you have when a stone is on the move. I have not been feeling well and I'm extremely lethargic. I have lupus which caused rheumatoid arthritis so I see my rheumatologist every month. He was the one who ordered my ultrasound and when it came back with cysts and several stones he told me to see a urologist. I have dealt with Dr. Sender before and I was aware of his incompetency but I figured if I had the test results it would be easy for him. I was wrong! He had me get a ct scan which showed some cysts and small stones. Dr Sender said it was nothing and told me the pain I'm experiencing is probably a pulled muscle. I love to exercise and I know what a pulled muscle feels like. Dr Sender completely blew me off and suggested I smoke marijuana because it's legal now. He is not a good doctor and I was stupid thinking I could give him another chance. It was a waste of time and I still need to find a urologist. read more

I don't understand these bad reviews. First of all, Dr. Sender saved my kidney when he was called in to fix a kidney stone surgery another doctor had messed up. Since then , I see him several times a year to deal with health issues. Yes, there is often a long wait, (which is why I'm not giving him 5 stars) but it's because he's thorough, cares about his patients enough to spend the necessary time with them, and because he's a skilled doctor who attracts a lot of patients. I think I'd be more worried about a doctor whose waiting room was always empty. Kind of like the restaurant you should avoid because there's never anyone eating there. As for his bedside manner, he has a dry sense of humor, which I actually enjoy. He's also concise and doesn't B.S. you., but you can tell he cares and wants to get to the bottom of your health problem. As far as the office staff, they're wonderful. I really can't see how anyone can complain about them. I've dealt with some horrible front offices at other doctors and this certainly isn't one of them. I called one morning after I had suffered bad pain the night before and even though I didn't have an appointment and they were really busy, they worked me into their schedule for that afternoon. I rarely write reviews, but felt that I had to rebut what I saw here. I feel bad that some people may have had negative experiences, but I felt that I needed to show the other side , and probably more common side (based on the popularity of his practice ) of this very caring and capable specialist. read more

Today, I took my son for consultation. Dr. Sender was very professional and explained every little details that needs to be done for his upcoming outpatient surgery. Also, the front office were very friendly.Except, The MA with red curly hair that took my sons vital signs is not as friendly. I honestly, thought today was going to be his outpatient surgery. I asked her and she laughed and stated no ma'am it's not today. She then closed the door and told her other colleague about what I told her and heard her laughed yeah right and wishful thinking. I was in shocked! She has no compassion at all. I was a worried mom and she was just totally rude! She might not be happy with her job and shouldn't be talking about the patient inside the office. She really made me feel very uncomfortable! read more

Just got through with my first appointment seeing dr sender .He ran right on time, and his staff was very accommodating. Couldn't be more pleased with the experience. Recommend him highly. Don't understand the bad reviews. read more

Beyond bad experience with this doctor and this office. I was pregnant, and I will never forget how the doctor treated me telling me, "don't make a production of this" after I told him I was in pain after 2 stents. It was not until after he found a 1cm stone that the doctor finally took me seriously. I told him I was glad I could finally prove to him how much pain I was in. Which was sarcastic but not because I felt happy that he would finally take me seriously now about my pain level. Completely inconsiderate doctor, laughed at me and made me feel like a joke. The office manager Carrie, wow. Good luck trying to get anything from her or help you. Left multiple messages. Same with medical records. Was told they would call me and nothing. Please do not go to this office. I would recommend finding another physician that will listen to you and be on your side. You want an advocate not a doctor that will fight you the whole way. read more

Dr. Sender is the BEST! His sense of humor takes a bit of getting used to, but overtime you come to love him. He has a great memory and really takes the time to listen and learn about you. He helped me during a recent emergency situation that could have been very serious if I'd not been able to see a doctor quickly. He has emergency appointments available for this reason and I'm so thankful he does. The wait in the office can be long occasionally but knowing he accommodates emergencies, I can see how that could happen sometimes. His office staff is amazing. The front desk is so friendly. The MA is very sweet. His office nurse sees patients with him and has always been able to answer my questions when I call later. His nurse practitioner is great too and takes extra time to explain things. read more

This guy told me I have two hernias requiring surgery. I am healthy and am able to lift and do strenuous activities with no pain. I got a second opinion and was told I do NOT need surgery. Furthermore the second doctor told me that many of his patients are people who were dissatisfied with Dr. Sender. So, get a second opinion if you are dealing with this Doctor. read more

My husband had a small cyst/pimple near his genital area and so we looked for a urologist. All other urologists in the SCV were busy for the next 3-4 weeks. However, Dr. Mark Sender was available that same week (interesting). So we went to his office on McBean Pkwy on 02/28/14 . Dr. Sender examined him and prescribed antibiotics and scheduled a biopsy (surgery) for the following week. That should have been the 1st RED FLAG right there, why would he schedule surgery so fast. The surgery coordinator (Peggy) contacted me within a couple of days requesting a deposit for the surgery. My husband had surgery at the Summit Surgery Center the next week. Summit also requested an advance on the surgery (which was overestimated). After the surgery, Dr. Sender came out to talk to me and told me everything went well and that he really couldn't find anything to remove. I told him perhaps the antibiotics got rid of the cyst/pimple. I was flabbergasted that he actually went through with the surgery even though there really wasn't anything there (and he told me)! That in itself is enough for me to NEVER see Dr. Sender again. But it only gets worse, the bills started to come in. Turns out our out-of-pocket cost was only about $15. When I called his office to tell them that they owed me a refund, they gave me the run around for five (5) months. Everyone was very unprofessional. His office manager Marcia said she didn't want to deal with it and referred me to their billing office. I called them and they said they had never received anything from my insurance (not true). They even had the audacity to send me an over-inflated bill for a couple of months when they in fact OWED ME money. I offered to fax them copies of my insurance EOB's but nobody was ever available or returned my calls. Finally one person at the billing office asked me to email the documents. Another month and a half and still nothing. The billing office referred me back to Marcia at Dr. Sender's office as they say she is the only one who can issue the refund. I called Marcia again today and she claimed she would put the check in the mail. I don't know if she'll ever return our money but what I do know is that I would NEVER RETURN to Dr. Mark Sender so consider yourself forewarned. read more

Went to Dr. Sender's office. Seen by a P.A. first who seemed competent. Then it went downhill from there. Blood work was done and then results were given incorrectly over the phone. Then they wanted more blood. Follow-up after blood work and ultrasound was awful. Doctor ignored my wife in the room. Seemed rushed, first words to me were essentially, "looks like you need surgery". Nurse and P.A. both apologized saying they were too busy and overworked to handle volume of stuff going on so mistakes were made. Not really inspiring for a patient. Not going back. read more

I accompanied my wife to Dr. Sender's office after blood work at our primary health care provider found blood in her urine. Dr. Sender did a blood test which included studying the sample under microscope vice the standard dip stick test. Other samples were sent to lab for further analysis. Results were provided in a timely manner and an appointment was made for a cystoscopy. My wife was very apprehensive about the procedure. Dr. Sender assured her that the procedure is much less painless than the one she had 10 years ago. The procedure went well and an ultrsound was done right there and then to address other concerns. At all of my wife's appointments Dr. Sender was very attentive to both of our concerns. He answered all of our many questions thoroughly and, most importantly, he listened to us. His nurse was available during the exams and consultations to take notes. This allowed Dr. Sender to focus on his patients, rather than being preoccupied with record keeping and documenting which is often the case at our primary provider. We were very pleased with the level of care we received and would recommend Dr. Sender to family and friends. read more

Dr, Sender is great. However, the office management is well below par. My husband had a 9:00AM appt this morning, Thursday, April 4th. He arrived at 8:48AM and was met with another patient and her daughter waiting outside the locked door. The daughter called the office number and pushed 9 to get the service. The answering service said the office should be open soon. My husband showed up back at home around 9:30AM saying no one ever came to open the office. I called the office number and let the recorded message play out giving the office hours today from 8:30AM to 5PM. The machine switched over to another voice saying to note that the office was now closed on Thursdays. I called back and pushed 9 for the answering service and told them of the phone message saying the office was closed on Thursdays. The operator apologized and said the office never told them they were closed on Thursdays and it was news to them. Very poor office management. read more

If I could give 0 stars, I would... Dr. Sender doesn't have a very good bed side manner. He's very dry and barely listens to patients when they talk to him. Be prepared to wait at least 30 minutes in the waiting room before being called back. The vasectomy my husband had done was unsuccessful. He kept putting off that the vasectomy had failed for 11 months then finally decided that my husband should go in for a revision. I later found out from another physician that Dr. Sender had done the same side twice and caused a painful granuloma. The billing service is ridiculous! We got a bill almost 2 years later showing that we only paid a portion of the bill. We paid the original bill in full . If you call the service they don't have clear answers and then you have to try deal with the horrible office manager that never returns you calls. When you finally get a hold of her she talks over you and is extremely condescending and still doesn't answer your questions clearly. Definitely not someone you can reason with. 3 months of trying to get a hold of her we still hadn't gotten an answer of why the billing was screwed up. We just ended up having to pay it to avoid collections. read more
