On my most recent visit, she repeatedly told me I needed to floss more aggressively and pushed for a deep cleaning for my next appointment. What stood out wasn't the advice but the delivery. She brought it up over and over in the same visit, even after I acknowledged each time that I understood and would definitely get back to my regular flossing routine. It started to feel like being lectured rather than treated like an adult who'd already gotten the message. She also talks a great deal, and the appointments stretch to about an hour and a half as a result. It was jarring that her tone didn't match the dentist's. The dentist gave me a normal, low-key reminder to floss and basically said things looked fine, while the hygienist treated it like an emergency. This was also the first time in all my visits here that I'd ever gotten this kind of feedback, so the intensity felt out of proportion. A few weeks later, my husband saw the same hygienist. She left the suction tool pressed against the side of his mouth long enough that he developed a blister on his lip that lasted several days, along with an abrasion inside his mouth. Both of us had good experiences with the dentists we saw, but between the tone, the length of the appointments, and that injury, neither of us will be coming back.

On my first visit I made it known that I was nervous but unfortunately, their block lost power before I could be seen by the Doctor and I thought... just my luck lol. They were able to get me rescheduled a few days later and I'm so thankful that I got paired with his dental assistant, Melanie. She listened to my concerns, assured me that I was at the right place, eased my anxiety and told me that they'd help me. She made me feel so comfortable which is exactly what I needed in that moment. When I was seen by Dr. Satish he assured me that we'd come up with a plan to get me feeling better. I received a plan of action which I could alter depending on my availability of funds (dental work is not cheap!). Dr Lane was so nice, calm and listened to me explain why I was so nervous. My smile is ruined. I was sent to this location due to the VA being overbooked. I had a small…read moreoverlay of composite on my teeth (#8-9) from 2013 that closed a very small gap. It was a little worn down, but my teeth were in great shape. The doctor said he couldn't replace or smooth out the composite because it would make my teeth weak. He suggested veneers and a cleaning. I was initially against it, but he said he would just shave off a small portion of the teeth and place a very thin porcelain veneer on top. He assured me my smile would look exactly the same. On the day my teeth were prepped, I was asked to arrive 1.5 hours early. I thought I was coming in for the cleaning, but he was prepping for the veneers. My entire appointment was rushed. He prepped my teeth in 10 minutes tops and sent me home with hideous yellow temporary teeth. He claimed that was the only color he had in his office. The regret immediately set in. I realized he didn't take pride in his work that day. The veneers are huge. They tapper at a weird angle and are obviously uneven. My teeth feel tight and sensitive. I have gaps on the back of my teeth where the veneer connects to the natural tooth. Food will sometimes get stuck. He also hit both of my lateral incisors with the drill, resulting in a chipped tooth. I expressed my disappointment to the doctor before he glued them in. He told me that if he makes the veneers any shorter, he would have to re-prep and that could lead to a root canal. I left that day so defeted. The cleaning was also never scheduled. I posted a picture where you can see the chip, he left in my tooth that wasn't even supposed to be touched. I am so upset that I allowed him to do the veneers in the first place, I had a gorgeous smile. I now have to find a doctor who can fill the chipped tooth and replace the veneers that also take VA insurance. I am devastated. I truly believe that if I went to another doctor, I would not be in this predicament. They most likely would have replaced the composite instead of pushing for the veneers. Unfortunately, there are people out there who would rather make a quick buck than do the right thing. Advance Smile Center called me after I asked the VA to send a referral to another dentist. The receptionist tried to guilt me into making a follow-up appointment with the same doctor. She told me the right thing to do would be to allow him to fix his mistake. I want to give an example of what a typical appointment is like with Dr. Burk: Today, as he helped my 9 year old through his first tooth extraction, he came out to the waiting room to talk us through it first. My son was understandably nervous, but Dr. Burk just gently walked us through it, then asked several times throughout the procedure what questions we had. His pain management technique is honestly the best ever -- a few quick little shots of local anesthetic, and you're numb. My son hardly felt anything. Five minutes into the procedure, he plunked the extracted tooth down on the tray, and my son didn't even realize what had happened. I know from previous experience that Dr. Burk's staff will text us in the coming days to check in and make sure everything is going well. Upon checking out, our hygienist told me that because Dr. Burk had ordered an additional x-ray beyond the one our orthodonist had initially provided, they weren't going to charge us for it. This is just another example of how honest this dentist is. Sadly, I don't know how common that is today, but I know for sure that as long as he is in practice, he's going to be our dentist.
