They were patient with me while I figured out scheduling, they sent an informational packet, they called for follow ups and to make sure I didn't have questions prior to surgery, and Layla was so sweet and patient with me when I was trying to figure out payment! Dr. Mandel's staff on surgery day was also extremely supportive and reassuring (Candice and Jeanette were so helpful). I was devastated when I wasn't a candidate for Lasik, and I'm so glad I got ICL done with Dr. Mandel. He was extremely nice and supportive throughout the entire process, including the surgery itself. I am still recovering some but my vision is 20/20, and I couldn't be happier! Dr. Mandel and his team made the entire LASIK process very enjoyable! They were warm, welcoming & professional the moment I walked into their office. I found that extremely calming the day of surgery. Before doing my homework I was pretty nervous to get LASIK but I felt truly informed & prepared by the time it was surgery day. At 45 I'm probably one of their younger cataract patients. Dr. Mandel and his staff are friendly and I'm grateful to have clear vision again. I struggled with glasses for about 6 months. Glasses do not improve your vision when you need cataract surgery. My eyes were done one week apart on August 1 and 8. The surgery experiences were very different because of the anesthesia. I told the first anesthesiologist before going into the Operating Room that I was scared. As the surgery began I panicked and cried so Dr. Mandel had to change the protective dressing covering my face. I'm grateful I kept my eyelashes as that adhesive is no joke. When I asked the anesthesiologist for help his only reply was that my heart rate was the same. Thanks for nothing. Mercifully the following week a female anesthesiologist asked me how I was that morning and I told her about panicking the week before and feeling too much pain during the procedure. Night and day difference. I was calm and only felt slight discomfort during the procedure. Thank you Dr. Tan for listening, I'm very grateful for your kind attention and expertise. Please consider the complications with surgery carefully. Just 2 years after surgery, I'm now developing cataracts in both eyes after having ICL. I have had major problems with night vision/halos/starbursts on lights since the surgery and there isn't really anything they can do for me. The drops they claim will help me give me headaches so I can't take them. Choosing to do ICL surgery started a chain of unfortunate events with my eyes that I'm not pleased with at this point. I still think Dr. Mandel and Helen were great during the surgery and being there to answer questions, but now I'm going to be losing my reading vision ENTIRELY once I have surgery again for the cataracts. There's just not a great implant that corrects for distance and reading vision without other trade-offs in visual acuity. They will tell you that cataracts are no big deal - but they are for a 33 year old!! AND I have to pay for another surgery and new lens implants! I have my whole career ahead of me, and most people don't have cataracts while trying to work at a computer for long hours. Also I'm a photographer so this is double ironic. The cataract is developing in my right eye faster than my left, and is kinda like a steamy window. My left eye does most of the seeing right now. It's a mess. And it's winter as I'm writing this - so extra scary driving with all the halos, darkness, and now fogginess. read more

I was nervous about the procedure but they do a great job of offering plenty of materials to educate myself on the specifics of my procedure. I had basically a cataract surgery but the replacement lens were corrected for my vision. One eye for distance and the other eye for near vision. After 45 years of wearing contacts, I no longer need them!! My vision is very good, but I still have a little healing to do so it should continue to improve. I went to the consultation with basic information on the procedure, but had questions to research the methods and approaches this provider used. I wanted to wait awhile before writing my review. It's now been 8 months since I had the wavefront LASIK procedure performed on both eyes by Dr. Mandel. A little about my situation as background; I started wearing glasses at a very young age of about 5 yrs. old. When I was in high school I switched to gas permeable lenses which I wore daily for ~ 20 years. Finally in my 30's I decided I was ready to ditch the lenses altogether! Without the help of lenses, I could barely make out a person's face if they were standing further than a foot away from me and I also had astigmatism. I came to see Dr. Mandel and his wonderful team upon the referral from my eye doctor and I'm glad that I did. From start to finish everyone was so helpful and kind. They made the entire process as painless as possible. I did suffer from a bit of dry eyes due to so many years of wearing rgp lenses however we got that addressed before the procedure so that I wouldn't have to worry about it afterwards (and I didn't!!). Dr. Mandel was terrific during the procedure, helping to keep me calm and informed every step of the way. I chose the wavefront option because I wanted to try and avoid the dreaded starbursts I heard so much about. Best decision I ever made, seriously!!! Can't praise Dr. Mandel & his team enough . . . Great experience. The consultation was easy and reassuring that I could see better. My procedure itself was quick. The after effects of lasik is uncomfortable but with medication they provide I was able to sleep it off. When I woke up the discomfort was mostly gone. My vision day two was great, 20/15, going from not being able to read more than 6inches from my face without glasses. The every 2hour drops are tideous, but I've followed the orders and feel I will be better off for it. Dr. Mandel, Linda and the rest of staff were very nice. Dr. Ristow for my follow up was very nice as well. Only thing I'd like, different due to covid, is a family member present for after care teaching. read more

Dr Mark Mandel is very rude . If I could give him zero I would or even give him below zoro I would do that . I was there about a month ago and made me wait over 2 hours and visited me as the last patient, however There were many patients who showed up after my appointment. But he visited them before me. I don't know why, maybe because they were not Medicare patients. Anyway I was seen as last patient and he had a student with himself so he put much more than he should have " the dilating drop for dilation of my pupils. Due to that I couldn't drive back hom which my house was about 20 miles from his office for hours. I actually was blind for hours . Because that ( putting too many dilation drops ) to show my eyes to her student and used me as a mice to teach his own student and didn't care what would've been it's consequences. I suffered so bad and if my daughter hadn't come to take me back I didn't know what to do. I tried to ask him a question, but right away he cut me off and answered what he thought would be my question. And many other rude attitude he had towards me . He has no respect for elderly patients. I would never even try tp go see him . This was a very painful and harmful experience. read more

For someone who insists they are fastidiously cautious and certainly talks a good game of "professionalism" on the mandatory videos I wish I could give a commensurate review that would do justice to the esteem the good Dr holds himself in. Unfortunately the reality is somewhat different, at least dealing with the front of house. My appointment, which took over month to arrange, was screwed up. Their error. The phone call I got blamed me for the error. I was there 15min prior to my stated 1:30pm appointment. No one was at the premises. Lunch break. Voicemail system said lunch break was till 2pm. I know right, that confused me too. Turns out their 877 number talks about another site. Clearly my error. Suffice to say, I gave them an opportunity to call back and explain how they were going to make it right, but so far, and this is a shocker, crickets. read more

I feel it's important to update my prior review. I was initially quite happy with my ICL and Lasik surgeries. However, within just a few months of the surgeries, I developed cataracts in both eyes. In 2021, I had to have both ICLs removed and have surgery on both eyes for cataracts. The cataract surgery restored my distance vision, but due to the cuts of cataract surgery, I am now obligatorily presbyopic - meaning I can no longer focus up close without reading glasses. This is a known risk of ICL surgery, but extremely unusual within months of the initial surgery. Unfortunately, the ICL surgery was a failure for me and led to further surgeries. If I had to do it again, I would never have selected ICL surgery. read more
