Wow, what a gem! Aside from the fact that I met Mark and thought he was so professional, warm and on top of his salon - I have to say that the culture here is what was most notable. Never have I had two people just get it more than Aaron Scott and Cassie Cohen. I completely trust them to do whatever with my hair, which is more important than trusting them with my life. When I booked the appointment I requested that my colorist/stylist wear masks, and I have to say -- every person I worked with (including the person who washed my hair) accommodated my request. Out of probably 25 other people in the salon, exactly 2 staff members aside from them were wearing masks. Not one patron was wearing a mask. I guess COVID is over for them. Got a gloss with Alex. 10/10 would suggest to anyone and would go to him again. Had a cut with Marissa; she's a nice person, however the cut is forgettable, and I don't think her cut was at all worth the price that the salon charged to work with her. It took me a minute to decide to write this review as I definitely appreciate a negative review can affect a small business and I take it seriously to not slander anyone. With that said I had such a horrible hair cut experience with Carly at this salon and I will not be returning. What frustrates me most is I was very honest and realistic about the state of my hair, what I know its capable of (I have very thin hair and do not except miracles at the salon) but even with an open discussion the stylist did not listen to me, barely cut my hair and charged me $200. I left looking practically the same as when I went in. I am middle aged and so have been cutting my hair for many years now and I am not shy about what I want and like and how realistic I am so this was truly frustrating. I went back for a bang trim and kindly expressed how unhappy I had been with my hair. The stylist made ONE cut of my bangs and said "See you in September!" I couldn't be bothered to try any further to express how I felt because she clearly did not care. I will not return and am sad this experience did not work out. So so so glad I get to leave this glowing review after my service. I knew from Jenna's profile that she was incredible, but nowadays I'm always skeptical until I'm in the chair myself. From start to finish, this was the best salon experience I've ever had. Everyone who worked with me was extremely sweet and helpful. Jenna addressed all of my small concerns about the nuances of my color and let me know what she was doing the entire time. She seemed genuinely so patient about me loving my color no matter what. She had another client come in while I was finishing up, and when she told me we'd add a gloss to adjust the tone if it wasn't perfect, I knew she meant it. Normally stylists at this point would be rushing me out the door, but I didn't get that impression at all here. The color was even better than I could imagine, and even though we did highlights, my hair feels so healthy. I get compliments on my highlights every day - I have dark brown Latin hair with sandy blonde highlights :)) so it's worth the trip there so my hair stays healthy and long but still highlighted. plus I love that this salon has high end shampoo and conditioners at the sinks so you get a "treatment" too while you're there. Corey has transformed my hair. We are two cuts in to my grow-out process and my waves are perfect. Without sacrificing too much length, he changed the shape of my hair. I've been going to Mark for highlights for years--I would follow him anywhere and I am so glad I did. I went to the Mark Ryan salon today for my first hair coloring since the coronavirus started. The women at reception were so cautious and kind: they gave you disposable facemasks and plastic bags to keep your handbags in. The reception area was very beautiful but even though I came a little early they wouldn't let me sit down because of Covid, which is fine since that's a safety precaution. The whole salon is beautiful actually, sort of California retro but in an elegant way. Hairdressers and clients were very spaced out so I definitely felt comfortable. As per usual, Mark did a fantastic job of listening to what I wanted and giving me natural, brightening, warm golden highlights. Special shout out to his assistants Mardi and Ricky for being awesome! Mark DeBolt is a hair color GENIUS. Allow me to walk through my hair color correction journey: after being cooped up in my apartment for the past five months quarantining, I was long overdue to make a wildly bad decision and so me and my SUPER BLONDE hair went to my (now former) hair salon and asked for a medium shade of brown (time for a change!). Somehow my (former) hair salon made my hair JET BLACK (think- goth witch) and said absolutely nothing could be done to fix it. After a week of being totally distraught (i.e. -lots of crying- asked myself at least 500 times "WHAT HAVE I DONE?!!!!!") I did a ton of Yelp/internet/Instagram research to find a hair colorist who might possibly be able fix this absolute titanic of a hair color disaster. After lots of searching I came across Mark DeBolt (HAIR GOD). Mark is a truly gifted, magical genius and I simply cannot put into words how talented he is. From the beginning everything went so well. I started with a FaceTime consultation with Mark to explain the situation and came in a few days later. I always feel relieved when I go to a new salon and everyone who works there has hair that looks amazing. The staff there is so kind, so professional, it was overall the absolute best color correction I could have asked for and I am officially a customer for LIFE. The salon is immaculate, sunny, and COVID-clean/safe; they take all the precautions. Even the music (something I don't even notice usually) was perfect. Mark is calm, kind, so easy to talk to, so professional- he took as long as it needed to get it right and walked me through every step of the very long process. His assistant was wonderful as well, and they both checked in on me regularly as I sat through color remover, various hair treatments, etc. I left the salon hours later (after a great blow dry with Ryan!) with my hair lovely shade of brown and perfect blonde highlights. There are no words I can use to convey how upset I was about my hair going into his salon and how happy I was coming out. It was truly a flawless color correction experience- Mark is a miracle worker and I am beyond grateful to him and his entire staff. They are super-professional and supremely competent, and I feel so incredibly lucky to have found them. I booked a return visit on my way out. If you ever have a hair coloring gone tragically wrong, you truly will be in such good hands with Mark and I cannot recommend him enough- he is a lifesaver.
