I just recently started going to Dr Sofonio's office for Botox with John Poling. After my second visit John Poling started going into how he would love to kill Hillary Clinton, then started with his Pro Trump rants and how awesome Donald Trump is and how those Mexicans deserved what they got! Beware! My best friend & I just went to a consultation for our regular maintenance of Botox. Read all the horrible reviews on Yelp but we still wanted to give the $7 Botox place a chance. Waited for over an hour in the completely filled waiting room that had one television that played the doctors commercial on repeat! Annoying! Went into the room finally...where the nurse who had more paper work to fill out and then asked me what I would like done. I said I wanted to have a very natural look as I have had experience with Botox before & I didn't want too many units to start off with since I had my last injection in November. The nurse said I HAD to have 35 or more units of Botox or it was not worth it for me or her to give it to me. I asked for less than 30 units and they said that wouldn't do anything which is crazy because I have never had over 24 units at one time, EVER! I don't need more than 20 units max! I have been getting Botox long enough to know a rip off and or scam - this place was not right for me or my friend. My friend and I didn't even ask any more questions and we walked! Beware! I love the doctor, but the staff is just snarky. That is why he gets low ratings. The staff are not welcoming, from Kyle on down they bite your head off. I would rather spend my money elsewhere and get better customer service. He is nice but when your staff are rude, it hurts your business. I have had three people who have money to spend, say they will not go there because the staff are rude and unaccomodating. They act like you are just a number, and they have plenty of business and don't need you. Kyle has been rude several times and a few others have too. I just can't take it anymore. I have been a patient of Dr. Sofonio's, well, possibly 20 years. He was pretty young when I first met him. I had been to two other surgeons, so had a pretty good comparison. Dr. Sofonio is the best. He is interesting as well. His work is meticulous and he keeps his patient as long as they need to see him. I did not see him for years and when I returned, it was as though no time had passed. He is quick, but you can trust his diagnoses and his recommendations. He actually goes above and beyond a bit, and is very competitive from a cost analysis I have done locally, for myself. Dr. Sofonio is a great doctor. Cares about his patients. I had some scheduling conflicts and he was nice enough to schedule my surgery where it was convenient for me. As far as the front office staff, Im surprised he keeps such a bad front office staff with his reputation, they weren't accommodating when I wanted to spend $400 on my carecredit account to get my girlfriend fillers, and I had previously spent $5000 on myself. They told me I had to spend a minimum of $1000 on my CareCredit. So we called Contour dermatology and they immediately accepted our money. We took our business elsewhere. Because of that one incident we have picked another company. Btw my gf got lip fillers from a guy who was horrible. He seemed like he was rushed, my girlfriend had lumps afterwards, and he acted nonchalant. Dont use the guy there! read more

I'm from LA and moved to Palm Springs. I wanted filler in my lips. So I called this office for an appointment with nurse Shirley who happened to be on vacation. So they recommended another nurse. Can't remember her name. I waited over an hour. I was ready to leave. The nurse called me in. They 1st asked for my credit card, Then sat me down and had a needle ready to stick in my lips with out asking me what I needed. Then she said I can make your cheekbones higher. I came in for my lips not cheeks. Then I asked what she was filling my lips with and how much. She said 650. I said I only need a little she said doesn't matter 650 even if don't use all of it. She said I have a cheaper grade for 400. I said it's not the price and your not explaining what your doing. I ran out of the office so fast and left. I couldn't believe this place. She would have messed my face up. I will stick with my doctor in la who does all the celebrities. I'll drive the 2 hours. Please don't go here. John the P.A. giving the injections, stated that Juvederm could not be used to get rid of "lines" in your face. I have deep forehead lines and some on my lips and by my nose, I was very much looking forward to getting rid of these- as it is called a "liquid face lift". I think plastic surgeons in New York as well as Los Angeles would have been shocked to hear him say Juverdem cannot be used in "lines" on your face. EVEN the Juviderm web site states that is its purpose! He did not even put botox in my fore head because he said my eyes would droop, He did state he would do what ever I wanted ... But, in my opinion if he says he will fail then he will, So why bother. I explained I have had successful botox to remove lines in my face and fore head and he just believed he could not produce the same results. I am not old per se only 47 so these "Lines" I speak of are not 65 years deep. Chances are I will find another one of the hundreds of people in the desert to do this next time. read more

The staff that Dr. Mark Sofonio has, is an extension of himself. From the first phone call to the last visit has been amazing. I never felt uncomfortable talking about what I wanted to correct or why I wanted to correct it. Kyle, she even held and hand. My nurse was great even got I hug before surgery, I thank him. After the initial treatment, I went back (at no additional charge) for some contouring liposuction to complete the process. I can not give enough stars for John and the staff at Dr Sofonios office. I scheduled a Botox appointment for 3 people. . John determined the best product to use on us and explained why he chose it. One member of the party was there for a 3 month touch up, John informed that member that her previous treatment was still in effect and instead recommended a future appointment date. The dr at the last facility I visited tried to continually up sell me, charging more than was initially quoted. The procedures were quick, professional and virtually pain free. John and the entire staff were professional friendly and personable. I can not recommend them enough, we will definitely be returning. read more

Made an appt with Dr Sofonio to see about a procedure I on saw on TV. When I called about this certain procedure the staff was clueless. Anyway they asked that I pay $100 deposit. I did they said that it could be used for anything at their office if I did not have the procedure. I did not. So today I called to use my credit. I have been seeing Nurse Shirley for years. I wanted to use it for Botox buuuutttt nooooo you can only have a facial. There r so many cosmetic doctors in the valley. They already have crappy reviews. Beware of John Poling. He doesn't know what he's doing! Absolute worst Botox/Filler experience of my life. If I could give it negative one zillion stars I would. I had Botox and Filler given by John Poling. He did not ask me any questions as to what I wanted to achieve. Before I could even open my mouth, he had a syringe in his hand. I said wait a minute, how much are you injecting. He said 40 units. Mind you, I've never had more than 30 units in my life, but I presumed he knew what he was doing. I told him I wanted the usual eyebrow life that I always got. He told me if anyone tells me they can give an eyebrow lift with botox they are lying. Well, then why have I always gotten those results? He started injecting in the weirdest, most erroneous places on my face, places that had never received botox before. When I questioned him, he said he knew what he was doing. He also did a syringe of filler. I told him I wanted my smile line filled in and my lips turned up at the corners. Again, he injected me in places that he shouldn't have injected me. I was really wary, but finally went out of the office to pay and they charged me like $775. When I thought about it after I got home, I called them and asked them how many units of botox did they charge me for, they said 52. I told them in no way did I authorize 52 units, what a freaking scam. I called them 3 times over the course of the next two weeks telling them I was unhappy with the results. They told me to wait a full two weeks and come back if I was unhappy. Well, I did and was still unhappy. None of my forehead wrinkles were gone. My frown line was still prominent and I still had my crows feet. One eyebrow was higher than the other and one side of my lip curved up while the other curved down. When I asked them to see another injected, they said I had to go back to John. When I sat in his chair and told him of my complaints, he proceeded to argue with me telling me that if he removed my frown lines between my eyes that my lids would droop. Removing frown lines is the standard practice with Botox. I have had the procedure done numerous times and have always had my frown lines removed. I continued to tell him what I did not like and he finally said, well, don't come to me again then. I got up and walked out. When I told the front office that I was unhappy with the way this unprofessional person treated me, they told me I could get it fixed on this day by another nurse. They told me to have a seat which I did. I sat for 20 minutes and they finally told me that, no, I couldn't see another injector afterall, I would have to see Dr. Sofonio. I said will he fix it and they said yes. Then I sat for a little longer and they said I had to come back and that Dr. Sofonio wouldn't fix it as he did not do botox. All in all, it was a 2 hr drive for me back and forth to get there. I told them I wanted it fixed on the day that they said they would fix it and they refused. When I called the office again to see about getting it fixed, Elizabeth said I don't think this is the office for you and hung up on me. I would NEVER recommend this office in a million years, nor would I ever go back again. I will just have to deal with my face as it is as they ripped me off of all the money I had set aside for the procedure. Do NOT go to John Poling. He is the worst practitioner I've ever been to. PS: Oh, and the office makes you sign something that you won't leave a bad review. So sue me! read more

This is an amendment to my scathing review a few weeks ago of Dr. Sofonio and his office staff. All my friends told me to go back there and express what I was not satisfied with, so reluctantly, I did. I ignored the staff (front desk) as much as possible and went straight to the Doc. He was more than happy to accommodate me. So, for that, I am glad. We'll see if his proposal works. I still feel the same way about the staff and how they lack the ability to communicate well with the patients, the Dr. and each other. I am not apt to write reviews but I have been so impressed with Dr Mark Sofonio and his staff that I wanted others looking for professional Plastic Surgery to know they can count on beautiful results. He is a master with the CO2 laser, never doing too much, and the result is directly proportional your individual need and how much time you want to spend healing. It is a commitment and a consideration that he stresses. I have had four CO2 procedures and each one resulted in younger, better looking skin (with no lines where the laser stopped). The best result by far is CO2 along with surgery when the time comes for a face lift. I have been a patient of his for a long time and recommend his care to many of my friends. He performed an aesthetic surgery on me and the result was great. I've already written a negative review on Dr. Sofonio, but I 've decided to write another one. I'm really trying to get the word out on how HORRIBLE this doctor is. Currently I'm looking into getting my boobs redone after the mess Dr. Sofonio made. I initially wanted a lift and instead he insisted on a breast augmentation I was young and gullible; I followed his advice because I thought he knew what he was doing. I paid nearly $10,000 for the surgery. It's been 5 years since the surgery and I still have to deal with the nasty scars left behind because of the doctor's poor work. Instead of fixing the problems I came in with, the breast augmentation only made them worse. Dr. Sofonio is supposed to know that putting an implant in a breast that sits low is not the right move; he is the doctor after all! But of course he never told me this (I was 20 years old at the time). He proceeded to push the augmentation when all I initially came in for was a lift. He said the augmentation would be better than a lift and would fix my problems. It didn't. What is worse is that when I came back to address my concerns (scars, larger areolas etc.) instead of being understanding he was rude. He didn't care about what I had to say. I urge all of you who are considering going to this doctor to please reconsider!! Find someone else. Dr. Sofonio does not care about his patients only about the money he is getting from them. He is a rude person and should honestly be ashamed of the work he is doing and how he is treating people. I would never go back to this jerk even if I was paid to! I paid in full to get my breast done and when the big day came ... He wanted to change everything we had talked about... I wanted to walk out right there and then but he said he wouldn't give me any of my 6,000 back so I ended up going with it..... 5 years later and I need to get my boobs done again already and the right side has a huge red scar from him cutting part of my nipple off... When I had this man perform a "tummy tuck" on me I overlooked some of the obvious signs I wish I'd paid attention to in hindsight. On my initional visit I sat in Dr. Sofonio's waiting room for at least an hour, during which time another woman, who had less patience than I, left not willing to wait for her appointment which was long after mine. About a half an hour into my wait a young blonde woman wearing a tennis dress burst loudly into the waiting room addressing the staff by name. She was obviously a personal friend of Dr. Sofonio and was ushered into his office adding yet another thirty minutes plus to my wait. When I was finally shown to Dr. Sofonio's office I was met by a very cold and impersonal man, no appologies for my wait and an abrupt explaination of the procedure. I was then shown to another room where a woman went through the extensive costs for the surgery. The surgery Sofonio performed on me was a very unfortunate reflection of my previous experience with him. The incision across my stomach was jagged and ended abruptly before my hip bones ending with muffin shaped domes of fat on each side....not exactly the results I was hoping for. When I pointed this out during a post op visit the attending nurse said, "Dr. Sofonio can fix that". Some of the doctors staff was lovely. They get a star. He gets a zero! read more

My name is John Davis and I have used Mark Sofonio MD facilities under the guidence of Jon Poling, PA for over 5 years now for skin cancer mainly on the face. I have not had to have the knife in all these years thanks to the lastest technology furnished here. Prior to this when I return to Seattle to visit a MOS specialist I always had the knife treatment. Some taking several hours. Sofonio operation envolves external medication that excites the immune system. This does the work without freezing, burning or cutting. I have known Dr. Sofonio for 24 years. He was just starting out, when I had my first tummy tuck by him. I gained so much weight with my pregnancy and after a c-section, my abdominal muscles were non existant. Dr.Sofonio tighten my abs so well, my core is still in great shape and he got rid of all the excess skin. In 2006, I had him do breast implants. They look and feel very natural and the guys are looking. This summer, I had the tummy tuck redone. After so many years, my skin started to get loose, especially the love handles and the very upper part of my stomach, right below the breast. I also had a mini arm lift, where the extra skin is taken away, close to the armpit. I am super satisfied with the results. It has been 4,5 month and the scars are healing. Dr. Sofonio is treating the scars with shots for erased areas and his fabulous nurse Kristy does IPL laser AT NO COST to treat the redness to speed up the natural fading process. No other plastic surgeon offers that. Not even in Beverly Hills or Costa Mesa. I had consultations there. For this coming summer, I want Dr.Sofonio to do a mini cheek lift. I decided to try this office since there was a special on Botox and Juvederm. This is my 3rd time to try Botox, and my 2nd time to try Juvederm. I didn't have to wait too long in the waiting room, and the staff seemed nice, not too pretentious. It's been 2 weeks, and so far I've been very happy with the results, hopefully the results will last awhile.The male PA there listened to me and wasn't rushed.The Lanacaine with the filler made it much less painful. He had me put ice on the area first as well. I did find it a little odd he didn't sterilize or prep my face in any way for the needle.This is the least amount I have swelled and bruised, I think mostly because he gave me instructions to ice every 2 hours. The price was really good, much less than I paid the first time I did this at another office. I will keep an eye out for this place to have a special next time I need it. Oh, and yes, you do need to give a CC number when making an appt. I'm sure they do this to cut down on no-shows. I have no problem with this because I planned on showing up and using their services. read more

Nurse Shirley is amazing! i've gone to her a couple times for my lips, she's very personable, gentle and can perfect the natural shape of your lips. However, the front desk personnel make the experience less enjoyable. Elizabeth is so rude, very short & cuts me off when speaking. This guy runs a very impressive business. I had cosmetic ear surgery with him many years ago. I really liked how he talked to me as he performed the procedure, calmly explaining what he was doing, while at the same time, working very efficiently. The results were beautiful. Had the upper eyes done with Dr. Sofonio due to my Norwegian droop! I had great chats with him at the consultation and even during surgery. He played my kid of music during the surgery and quizzed me on my 80s rock during each song. He teased me for knowing all the words and not the artists names. This kept me entertained and not horrified at the fact that I was in surgery while awake. More importantly he did a great job and I feel better about eyes now. They are all healed up (I waited until I was all healed so I could write an accurate review). He was nice, fun, and a great doctor. read more
