As a local, I was very disappointed coming to the new Marker 88. The menu is extremely limited with excessively expensive, complicated items. The table behind me asked for a simple house/plain salad but they "cant do that". The sushi rice was not done cooking at 2pm so I was told no sushi for the day. I asked for plain seared tuna (without rice) that takes 30 seconds but they "cant do that". If you are not going to accommodate your locals and guests then the menu should be the first to change, There are 3 fruit salads, sushi that wasn't available, no tuna dish, no regular burger, no chicken dish, etc. I could go on and on. Don't waste your time, they didn't keep any favorites from the old menu. 93$ for 2 sodas, 2 pork burgers and a quesadilla. Outrageous. I won't be coming back maybe until I hear some better things about this place. read more

This is the place along the highway if you're heading to Key West. We stop by due to the crazy amount of reviews and was looking for place w sunset view. We had the lobster pizza (apparently you can't go wrong adding lobsters) which was amazing! The crab dip was amazing and the crab cake was amazing. A beautiful location on the bayside of Plantation Key, this restaurant gets high marks. We started with the hot blue crab dip, served with crispy wontons, and it was an excellent beginning. Ask for a bottle of Tabasco, to elevate the crab dip to the next level. My lovely bride ordered the cheeseburger, with a Hemingway daiquiri, and I ordered the tropical green salad topped with almond-encrusted hogfish. Everything was freshly prepared. The food honestly was not the best, need to improve a lot with the food steak was salty and the rice was too cold and saggy . The burger was good my kids order burgers and fries they were very good and really tasty same as the drinks . It was a very nice experience because the view and sunset it amazing and beautiful. Well what can I possibly say that is bad for this restaurant. The service is absolutely amazing if you go please ask for Sabrina she is by far the best waitress I believe they have in there . Sitting by the water enjoying the breeze and underneath one of the little rocking cabanas is absolutely adorable super romantic but it definitely made the vibe so much better, not to me too. They have an older gentleman playing music who is outstanding . If you do eat appetizers you definitely have to try the raw tuna nachos they are absolutely insanely amazing as well as the calamari. We've been coming here for 14 years or more and actually got engaged on their dock! Recently they did a major renovation and it's a bit different. Just visited now for a drink and while I am very sad that we can't hangout at the beach anymore, I do admire how pretty they've done the place up. It's still under construction but I'm sure it's all going to look gorgeous once it's done. Service was still splendid and attentive, however, I paid $16.00 for a margarita in the keys, which is completely a first for me. As locals that's not typical for the keys. We didn't try any if the food so I won't comment on that but i will go again for a beer and a view. Hoping to renew our vows there soon. read more

Sooo I would have given this place a 5 if it was based off our first experience only. We had an amazing time, great service and wonderful food yesterday. We had such a great time yesterday that we went back today for lunch and our service was a train wreck. Different server, we saw our server from yesterday and got excited she would have served us today, but it was another and she was terrible. An hour for lunch, never checked on us through the meal. This wasn't a circumstance where they were short handed, had plenty of people but she was just slow and lazy. 5 stars for yesterday, 3 stars today averages to 4 stars. read more

This was a revisit since the last time was so good we wanted to explore the menu more extensively.  Our server Ally was incredibly welcoming and attentive.  We ordered the Fried Calamari and Coconut Shrimp Appetizers.  The Coconut Shrimp are freshly battered, fried, and served with an out of this world Mango Chutney.  The Fried Calamari was fried to perfection and topped with Thai Chili Sauce and Sriracha Aioli on the side. Previously we had planned a visit as part of a day trip to Islamorada from Coconut Creek.  We arrived at a large new parking lot and walked along the beach to the hostess who immediately seated us.  Our waiter Marzen came over and promptly took our drink orders. Once the drinks arrived we ordered the Crab Cake for an appetizer.  All that I can say about the crab cake is "simply incredible". You need to stop here just for this. The Crab Cake is loaded with Lump Crab Meat, seasoned to match its Seafood Perfection, prepared fresh to order and is served over Pommery Mustard. We then ordered the Grilled Mahi Caesar and the Alligator Reef Salad which also comes loaded with Lump Crab Meat, Hearts of Palm, Avocado, Shrimp, Grape Tomatoes, and much more.  The Mahi Caesar was absolutely delicious and with a fairly large amount of Freshly Grilled Mahi Mahi. They serve good original dishes and the drinks are handcrafted with fresh ingredients and are true thirst quenchers. The 88 Relaxer did the job and I heard from Doris that the Blood Orange Margarita was made with fresh ingredients and Premium Tequila tasting delicious and refreshing. Taking a quick look at the menu, it appears like typical dishes that one would expect to see in the Keys. However, to the trained eye, it is apparent that they have added some really good twists to the typical fare (eg the Key Lime Pie with Meringue was prepared with a Baked Alaska twist) and this is what transports the delicious flavors all the way to awesome. On a side note, before even ordering our lunch, we both agreed that we just had to order a Cuban Sandwich "to go" and I must say it was spot on. Just as good if not better than anything that Miami or North Jersey could put out. We didn't get to eat it until about 3 hours later and it was a hit. Our server, Marzen, suggested the homemade potato chips. Next time, I know that the chips will not make it all the way home. We both thoroughly enjoyed it all. It was a perfect mid-week reset for us. The setting is even more breathtaking in real life. It's totally laid back, relaxing, friendly and welcoming and the business is professionally run. The view and ambiance are amazing. That being said the food experience was not good. Our waitress was great and tried her best but... we ordered chicken tenders for the kids and they came out raw in the middle. Our waitress took them back and reordered them to cook. They came out raw again in the middle. We told our waitress to forget the tenders. She was great and took the tenders off our bill. We expected to at least see a manager but they were nowhere to be seen. Also we had ordered the kids food with our drinks before the adults order. Our food came before the kids and the kids food came out when we were done with ours. Again our waitress was great but I suspect it was a kitchen problem. I would return for drinks and the view but nothing else. Raw chicken especially served to kids, twice, is an automatic one star rating always for me. read more

We've been here before but we wanted to come back as we haven't been in over a year. We really enjoyed the view and the atmosphere at marker 88 it's always a great time. We ordered drinks that came out fairly quickly and it wasn't windy day but they did make every accommodation to make sure that we were comfortable. We ordered coconut shrimp the key lime seafood platter as well as the chicken bacon sandwich. The coconut shrimp and the chicken bacon sandwich were the star of the show it was absolutely amazing and we will definitely be coming back there! I had been here before the remodel and wasn't impressed. after the remodel I figured I would give it another try. first, the parking lot is awful. no paved street, just a bunch of rocks which are so hard to walk on. second, the service takes forever. just to get water and drinks was like 25 min. the mosquitos were out of control. the menu is extremely limited, not a big selection once the sun sets, if you are sitting on the beach area, you can't see a thing. lighting is non existent so you can't see what you are eating though I saw lighting was horrible everywhere. def won't be going back again. many other good places to eat at in the area. read more

My wife and I came here for a romantic dinner but it was anything but. We were seated right in the sun with many shaded table options around us as it was just before dinner rush. The food was good but with the sun in our face we could not enjoy the meal at all. I have watched it go through several transformations - each one better than the next however, I just went to dinner there tonight, and I was so disappointed. The service was not good, we ordered fish tenders for my son and he received chicken tenders. I asked for a couple extra chips for my snapper ceviche and was charged three dollars for chips that I was told they brought out the wrong chips but charged me anyway. The boat dockage is subpar, even though it's brand new. The prices were extremely high for subpar food. Definitely will not go back there so disappointing was always one of my favorite places to visit in the Keys. read more
