Seems like a place where regulars come and get their different types of beer. The market had several different options for beer and ciders. BLUF: the service was friendly and prompt, and the food was okay We went here for lunch on a weekday. Ordered a Cuban sandwich and a roast beef sandwich. The Cuban one was actually pretty tasty and well done. But the roast beef was just okay. They kind of skimped on the amount of meat, and there just wasn't very much horseradish on there which, when paired with the fact that the bread was a little dry, made the sandwich a little less appetizing. Also they put a lot of shredded lettuce on sandwiches. Maybe it's the way they always do it but it seems like it's more of a filler idea to make the sandwich look bigger. The staff was definitely friendly and the sandwiches came out fast, but I don't think I would go back here as a special trip. Maybe if I was in the area and looking for some place to eat I'd give it another try. On a western note they have a very slim variety of non-alcoholic beverages to go with your food. Outstanding sandwiches, solid craft beer selection. I stopped by Piece Out up the street because I was craving their roast pork broccoli rabe sandwich. It was excellent as always. I asked the owner where she got her bread and she said it was a Maryland bakery that also delivers to her sister shop Market 2 Market. So I swung over and checked the place out. Wide selection of sandwiches and subs and a wall of craft beers. Picked up The Custis (Prosciutto di Parma, mortadella, Genoa salami & provolone) and had it for dinner. I'm a big fan of the subs at the Italian Store, but it's hassle heading up that way so I usually end up getting my subs from the Italian Place, which is also excellent. Both those places use a firmer bread; M2M's subs are softer, but still crusty and with a great bite and flavor. You don't have to worry about the meats and cheeses shooting out the other side of the sub when you take a bite. Also, the subs here are around $10, so they're $2-5 cheaper than a lot of of other delis/sandwich shops. read more

I had the 116 heated with no onions and added mustard. It was bomb.com. my favorite part was that the hot peppers were actually spicy and not just very vinegary. It definitely added a whole other layer of flavor. The bread was crispy, the deli meat on point and extremely reasonable pricing. The only reason I knocked a star is because I had the cucumber and tomato salad and it was a little too sweet and the tomatoes were whole... Not a fan. I wish they had potato salad. DOES M2M HAVE A MANAGER OR AN ACTUAL ADULT WORKING HERE ANYMORE? We usually love the subs from here - I usually get the Oxford - mozzarella, homemade pesto, tomatoes, roasted red peppers, and then I add prusciutto. The Italian subs - all of them - remind me of the subs from home in Jersey. Today though they had someone working the register who was clearly still learning, and she got overwhelmed with all the orders. The three other staff making sandwiches didn't seem to care - and didn't step in to help her. As a result my son and I were waiting about 30 or 40 minutes for our subs. I mentioned we'd been waiting a long time, mentioned to several staff the subs we were waiting on - nothing. Finally the woman looked around - our subs turned out to be right next to the register waiting to go. I rarely leave negative reviews, but this was so frustrating it will make me consider going to the new Italian subs place in Old Town instead of here next time. UPDATE: Gave them another try. Food was ready on time but they gave us somebody else's sub because the one we ordered wasn't in their queu. Not surprised they couldn't hear the name we gave them by phone - when we got their the music was cranked so loud I couldn't hear the cash register woman two feet away from me. They've got a range of other great sandwiches. Whether you want an Italian sub or something else like oven-roasted turkey breast, tuna salad, pastrami, corned beef, chicken salad, eggplant parmesan, they have it on the menu. You can even build your own sub the way you like. As I mentioned, they have over 200 American and imported craft beers in the market. They also have some red and white wines for sale too. Bottom Line: Loads of craft beers and wine to go. Cafe style lunch sandwiches on fresh, soft italian hoggie rolls, with chips and fresh sides. Just off Mount Vernon street in Del Ray neighborhood of Alexandria, this smallish eatery next to Saint Elmos coffee shop is a unique corner of the world. Very reminiscent of eateries in Northern California, this cafe carries multiple coolers of craft beers, racks of wine fresh made sandwiches and sides from chips to vegetable mixes. And... They have weekly beer tastings from various local breweries. (Good ones too!) Also offering growlers and draft pours. Plus they turn over beers each week, so check-out the "new beers" board. (Lotsa IPAs and free wifi for the bun heads out there!) For me, I came in for a late lunch, and was immediately and warmly greeted by the staff behind the counter. I ordered from the Wyatt their daily menu (tuna salad hoggie) with quinoa salad and grabbed a Crabbie's ginger beer out of the cooler. All were very good, (although I could have used my roll toasted). The food was really good, and the music was rocking. Other patrons were sitting and eating outside in the Springtime sunshine, which was a bit too cool for me. But outside seating is plentiful - and dog friendly. Will I be back? Heck yeah. Could things be a little better... sure. Do they get busy? No doubt. But the music was kicking it, too. This place has gone from 3 stars to 5 in the past year because, in my experience, the service got way more consistent: friendly, accurate, quick. And if anything, the sandwiches have gotten even better and are still extremely well priced (the beer is steep, but that's part of having a huge and high end beer selection in a small sandwich joint.) I really hope it wasn't just dumb luck and that someone has made a concerted effort at pro training and putting on a smile, because if so, this place will continue to be a winner for years to come. read more

The chicken parm was the best of the three and was passable as a "good sub," the Oxford was incredibly bland and the Mt Ida was just so-so. It is challenging to make sandwiches that AREN'T good, and while this place isn't obliterating their sandwiches, they aren't succeeding either.
