Really loved the food here! The market itself is very cute and has a lot of different alcohol options as well as snacks / imported goods. I got the spring sandwich which was delicious!!! I also tried their chocolate ice cream and cookies n cream which were amazing!! Lots of Oreos in it. There's about 2 seats if you want to eat in, so it's more of a takeout spot. Service was fast! This little market has been here forever and perhaps few would know about its existence in this tiny neck of the woods. After living in the DC area for well over ten years, I have probably only been around here three times. The service here is very personable and howntownish and that's what I like about it. I ordered a Greek salad this afternoon and enjoyed dining out on the front sidewalk. There are only a few weeks to enjoy the awesome fall weather and I took advantage of that today. The Greek salad was prepared minutes after I ordered it, and they spared no expense when it came to the salad toppings and veggies. I think this market specialized in just beer and wine at one point, and then they expanded it to include a decent menu of deli sandwiches. Love Slaters Market! Stopped by for lunch on a beautiful afternoon and had a great experience -- great people, food, and outdoor seating on a pleasant afternoon. Slater's Market is not close to the West End Alexandria where I live. I may have to move! I can't say enough about the sandwiches, salads, and most importantly staff. Talk about good customer service! Right, we usually don't -- but these guys have never failed to be friendly, fun, and accommodatiing. The food quality is top notch. When I haven't ordered for awhile, and finally do, I wonder if my memory is slipping. Please, people, enjoy life more by ordering some incredible food from one of my favorite places. read more

Surprisingly, it's so difficult to find shops that can make you a good bowl of soup in Arlington. Thanks to YELP, Slaters Market popped up, which was much different than what the name suggested. I walked in expecting a full blown market, but I found something better. A neighborhood one stop shop. The layout consisted of wine galore, a small market section, a sandwich making station and an ice cream cooler. I ordered their soup of the day, chicken pot pie soup and a grilled cheese sandwich. The chicken pot pie soup had all of the fixings mixed in broth, topped by a flaky biscuit. The grilled cheese. This was thee best grill cheese I've ever had; it had to be the three cheese blend (sharp cheddar, smoke Gouda, provolone) and the option for prosciutto on sourdough bread. I planned to eat half of the sandwich, but my plans changed after one bite. The customer service was friendly, the food tasted great and the pricing was fair. They got charcuterie, beer and wine, tasty crackers and chips, and baked goods. You can pop a squat outside on a nice day to enjoy your finds. Most importantly though, the sandwiches. Made to order and with freshly sliced deli meat, Slaters kicks sandwiches to the next level with their aiolis and cheeses. My favorite sandwiches are the chicken de lovely - smoked Gouda, chicken, sun dried tomato pesto, tomato, onion, arugula on a fluffy sourdough - and the last waltz - turkey, gravy, stuffing, jam, and Hellman's mayo also in fluffy sourdough. I would die happy if that was my last sandwich. It's like everything you want post thanksgiving but available year round. They have soup specials that come with a side of bread so keep your eyes peeled for the sign on the door. Alternatively if you know what you want you can order online for pick up and delivery. They're very speedy and I've found my orders ready within ten minutes of ordering. Lastly, all of their sandwiches (and pestos) are nut-free! One bite of my roast beef and cheddar and all I can say is OMG STFU... this sandwich was so amazing it didn't stand a chance to last longer than 10 mins on my plate. What a great little joint to pop in and grab "to-go" food and beverages. Cool atmosphere, good music, helpful staff who are practicing all safety measures for Covid. It's under new management, who are happy to make great beer/wine suggestions (just ask for Scott) and they have an excellent wine selection at all price points to choose from. Since reopening under new management, Slater's Market has redesigned and reinvented itself as your neighborhood bodega/sandwich shop. My wife and I took advantage of their lunch special (any two sandwiches, two chips, two cookies, and a bottle of vino) and were thoroughly impressed. The quality of ingredients really determine whether a sandwich will be good or great. Slater's doesn't skimp: amazing quality in their meats and cheeses, produce that is crisp and fresh, and bread that is soft and fresh. The sandwich makers also seem to care about their craft: they delicately assemble each creation, and truly "create" a masterpiece each time. While you wait, it is plenty of fun to browse through their amazing collection of cheeses, sauces, charcuterie, and alcoholic beverages.
