This place is the definition of a working man's deli. No foo-foo sandwiches. No fancy presentation. Just solid food for a reasonable price. The closest thing to a dress code was flannel and work boots. I'm a big fan of their breakfast sandwiches, and usually get a breakfast burrito to go. For under $5.50 the price is a steal (it's actually $1 cheaper than the Eisenhower Deli down the road). The location is nothing to look at and its often busy in the morning; several times I've been waiting for my order simply because someone called in a big order right before me. My mom, son, and I stopped in for lunch before visiting nearby Scramble. The industrial location makes this spot easy to overlook. There is a small parking lot, but the deli shares it so look where you park since spaces are marked. The space inside seems pretty run down, kinda dirty. They have no high chairs and no bathroom, which presented a problem when I had to change my baby's diaper. There's no soda fountain either but an extensive bottled drink fridge selection. I believe breakfast is served all day, but we both opted for lunch. I had a gyro and my mom had the pulled pork with coleslaw. Portions of both were generous! The gyro meat was seasoned well, the pita was fresh, but it needed more tzatziki. Also everything fell out of the pita with each bite making it difficult to eat. My mom liked her pulled pork. The coleslaw was more vinegar based and she said it paired nicely. Her complaint was the gun was too big for the amount of meat. My complaint was that while the pork was seasoned well, I found it to be very dry. Maybe I ordered the wrong thing because breakfast reviews seem solid. I'm not really in this area often but would consider returning here again. I'd just order differently. read more

So I've been here twice and ordered the same thing both times because it was SO GOOD - sausage and egg on a bagel. It's bigger than my normal breakfast, so I can usually get two breakfasts out of it, and it's only $4. Pretty sure Starbucks charges more for their bfast sandwiches and they don't even taste half as good... I see one complaint from another reviewer is the texture of their bagels. Maybe if you're eating it as a bagel with cream cheese but I like the softer bagel for the egg sandwich because when you bite into it, everything inside doesn't go everywhere... Been here a number of times when visiting a friend that lives in a nearby apartment complex. I live in CT so I only visit for a few days as a mini vacation but I always look forward to Deli For the Belly. I've never been disappointed with their food and I'm always grateful that it is one of the more affordable places to eat in Alexandria. Even the cakes are delicious and I don't regret buying a slice. I highly recommend getting breakfast or lunch here. I'm going to be genuinely dejected when my friend moves in a few months :( and I only got to grab food there once this weekend :( read more

Such a cute name but terrible sandwich. I ordered the chicken and cheese with "everything" which consisted of lettuce drenched in cheap mayo and two slices of tomato. The tasteless chicken against styrofoam bread was truly disgusting. Unless you love mayo and will eat it on literally anything this sandwich is a must SKIP! Deli for the Belly is a small little deli place off of Eisenhower. They offer breakfast platters & sandwiches, lunch sandwiches, and combos. The hubs and I came here a few minutes before closing, but the couple was more than willing to take our order - whew! We tried the Egg & Meat breakfast sandwich (we opted for sausage and with cheese; you get to choose your bread as well, as we chose white; this came as a triple decker style, with 3 pieces of white bread, lots of American cheese, fried egg, and 2 of the thick seasoned breakfast sausage patties - meaty, cheesy, and pretty filling!); Steak & Cheese combo (that came with a side of crinkle-cut fries; the hubs was a fan of this, but I thought it was slightly bland; had a good amount of rib-eye steak, though!); and, a Pastrami sandwich (packed generously with pastrami, this was slightly dry; the coleslaw was sweeter and less dressed; could have had more mayo to make the pastrami a little less dry!). Service was quick and super sweet, and the place itself is kept clean and a great place to stop by for a quick breakfast or lunch. I'd love to come back and try out their BLT, other breakfast platters, and other hot sammies. I love this place for breakfast. I have been coming here for over 6 years. I love to get the eggs any style without meat ( no sausage or bacon). I get eggs, potatoes, and toast. I get it with coffee and have the toast with jelly. I remember when I used to eat meat, I really enjoyed their hamburgers. This place is very busy in the morning, most people getting take-out. I was really craving a steak and cheese, so I found Deli For the Belly on Yelp on a quick search and started heading there. As I was sitting at a red light, I started reading some of the comments and noticed how some mentioned this place has weird hours and also saw that they close at 4pm today (and my ETA was 3:46pm). I nervously arrived and was expecting them to turn me away but they took my order without hesitation and quickly cooked up a steak and cheese with hot fries! This is an odd little basic place next to a storage business. The tv was loud but this isn't a place you go for ambiance.The lady was nice. I got a Reuben, a royal cheesesteak and onion rings. The Reuben was good but I don't remember it having cheese. It was a little too juicy so the bread got too wet. Maybe The corned beef was made in house because it didn't seem like normal deli meat that's bought from a supplier. The subroll on the cheesesteak was soft and fresh. I stopped in to grab a bacon, egg and cheese sandwich which took no time at all to make and was under $5. For lunch the steak and cheese is pretty good but I usually go for the belly buster (ham, turkey and roast beef) and order it hot, really good and filling. This place is a gem. My coworker and I are from Md and were in the area for job training the whole week. We decided to look up for breakfast near by and found this place. Ended coming here every morning. (Good thing this place is not next to my home because I'll be here everyday). The food was some the best stuff Va has to offer and and the staff was friendly and nice. My last day went in got a beagle cream cheese w/ egg, coffee, apple cruder, some gum all for 9 bucks.
