My Mom lives near here and we come in at least once a year…read more This time, it was to celebrate my birthday and my older son's. We got four meals and an appetizer and the total was about $50. It was Mom's treat and she was pleasantly surprised at the total. We were greeted immediately on entering and told we could select a table. Our server was super friendly and answered all of our questions. You can tell there are plenty of regulars in here. The place seemed clean and I think the restrooms have gotten an upgrade since the last time I used it. This is an easy choice for affordable food with a menu everyone in my family can find some good options on, with a bonus that it's not a chain restaurant. This time I got the Franny melt with a side salad, it hit the spot. Mom got the open faced roast beef, it's her favorite. My oldest got 3 biscuits and gravy and was happy with his choice. My youngest went with the 2 2 2 2 with sunny side up eggs that were picture perfect, and he inhaled every bite. We got mozzarella sticks to share, they were pretty standard.

His chicken fried steak was a thin piece of meat fried to be overly cooked. The fried chicken was served piping hot served with stiff instant mashed potatoes. The fried chicken was also overcooked and dry. Our waitress was very attentive and even offered to go drinks. Still looking for that awesome fried chicken!

I cannot believe it has taken me this long to finally get here. When I lived in STL, I had a SOTS…read moreclose to my home and I dined there on the regular. Even though I am thrilled to have one on the IL side of the river, it's a half hour drive to enjoy. The other day I was running errands and shopping in Edwardsville. I made it a point to do it around the lunch hour, so I could enjoy an calzone. I ordered at the counter as you do and lucky for me, the cashier was patient with me. As I ordered, I kept reading the menu and changed my mind two times and finally stayed with my third choice. Having a love of jalapeños, Pancho Villa was my final choice. Pancho Villa not only gave my fresh jalapeños, it was also filled with red peppers, smoked cheddar, Mozzarella and the meat was Chorizo prepared in Smoked Chili Oil. Yum-Yum and no heartburn. For dipping or spreading on top, I was given a cup of Queso. One nice thing about SOTS, is they offer adult beverages. They have an excellent selection of local craft beers and wines to pair with your calzone. I paired mine with, Pale Ale from Schlafly. The dining room is clean and crisp. It's done in an industrial style. They have regular tables and a few hightop tables, so you can choose which one is best for you. On the tables you'll find linen napkins with reusable flatware. If you can eat an entire calzone, I am impressed. For those of us who cannot, next to the soda machine is a stack of eco-friendly to-go boxes to put your leftovers in, to take home.

I'm the only one here" sarcastically she says " Yes you do before I can help you" wow i said "No I don't" and left the store Never ever shopping at Schnucks again

Schnucks has made a lot of changes since the last time I was here. Some good, some not so good. I do love that they have Boars Head meats and a very nice bakery too. The store was laid out much better and very clean. It felt more organized. Everyone I came in contact with was very friendly. One thing I don't like about Schnucks is you have to wait in line to be checked out. Then you are designated a lane to go to. I find that odd. Another thing that really surprised me is they have monitors on their carts. If you leave the store without paying I guess the wheels lock. I guess that's one way to curb shop and runs. Hubby thought it would be dangerous if it screwed up and for some reason thought you hadn't paid when you had. That would be embarrassing. I'm not sure about that, I think I 'll carry my groceries out by hand just in case. lol Has theft become so much of a problem they have to do this? I find that a bit scary and sad. However, very nice store!
