Every time I have tried to order food here I have aged considerably. Slow simply does not capture the pathetic service. Not only do they totally ignore the customers, each sub takes 10-15 minutes to make, and they make one at a time. Phone orders throw things into reverse. An automatic answer is that phone orders take 45 minutes. In person orders average 30 - 40 minutes. On top of it they are miserable. More than once I have seen customers complain. Yesterday, I went to Market Basket in Tilton, NH to pick up some groceries. I got to the check out, put my groceries on the belt for the cashier and realized that I forgot my wallet at home. I Bank at Camden Bank so I asked if they could hold the groceries while I went to the bank to get some cash. Luckly, I go to that branch often and they know me so I didn't need my ID to take some cash out. I went back to the store to pay for the groceries and when they run them up, I was $7.00 short. The young gentleman at the register took out his wallet and pulled out the $7.00 to pay the balance. I told I could just put a couple things back but he insisted so I let him. When I go back tomorrow, I am dropping off an envelope for him with a thank you note and the money to pay him back. This was completely unexpected so I felt I wanted to acknowledge his thoughtfulness. Thank you. read more

I stood at the deli counter waiting my turn. An older man with many teeth missing was the one to help me. Instead of saying hello or what can I get you he just stared with a flat, mean expression. I made my order and made sure I said please and thank you each time. I ordered 2 deli meats and one cheese. The last of my order I was looking down at the bread to grab something in front of the deli case. Because I wasn't watching his every move he actually screamed MA'AM! To get my attention. He was so loud everyone turned to look at what was going on. Then proceeded to talk about me to another customer. He was saying things like "these people don't know how to make eye contact" amongst many other things. What's even more ridiculous is that he was asked by another customer to smile. When he handed me the last of my order he made sure to glare at me in a very menacing way. I'm disgusted that this person has anything to do with customer service. Again I make it to another Market Basket, on the way to a friend's place, and get a bunch of items for a cookout. The baggers SUCK. They refuse to put cold items in a cooler bag, instead putting shelf food in the cooler bag. Eggs at the bottom of a bag with canned goods on top. Give me attitude when I ask the meat to be in a bag by itself instead put it in with bread. What the heck?!?! Who do they hire?! read more

People are right about cashiers and customer service, it's lousy. Went to meat counter with unmarked pork shoulder (2.99/lb), he brings it back at 3.99/lb then doubled down on price! Numerous problems with meat dept., another guy told me I didn't buy a smoked shoulder 2 weeks before that I bought a ham that is only available at Easter, this was October!! Cashiers, Lord, two older females always working together, are the most miserable women to encounter, once my 5 lb bag of sugar was slightly wounded, leaked sugar on her belt, you would have thought someone unleashed a nuclear weapon for the commotion she caused. Management, there's Shaws and Hannaford, nobody wants to put up with your employees unnecessary crap. read more

Noticed it was cold out today after my long walk to my favorite goat farm in Plymouth NH (New Hampshire)!! Got a little thirsty after a long, hard day of work so I decided to head to @TheCommonManRoadside to grab myself a large pepperoni pizza and a cold beverage. Was in the mood for @America's favorite thirst-quenching soda -- the one, the only...MOXIE Turns out, they don't carry it I was told the only place in town that might carry this delicious beverage would be Market Basket (known previously as Demoulas (to some)) I immediately sprinted over to MB (@Marketbasket) and headed to isle 8, known commonly as the soda isle (but to me -- the MOXIE ISLE ) Guess what...? They ONLY HAD DIET?!?! long story short, if you want a 10 pack of DIET MOXIE (no ) then look in the trash can by the exit door (I don't like diet (who does??)) Went for sub and got told it would be ready in 10-15 minutes. Came back and they told us they ran out of bread and had to go grab some off the floor. Waited again for another 15 minutes while they made 3 subs. Got home after a 10 minute drive home and the meat was rotten and spoiled. Very upset, this is the second time I got a bad sub from this store in a couple of months and will be my last. Manager acted like it was no big deal! Hope your dinner burned tonight so you can get home to want to eat supper and have nothing just like I had, thanks but no thanks this store has lost their touch with the "customer service" side. Even the cashier and baggers talk and ignore those checking out, when they should be saving the gossip for outside of work. This place needs a manager overhaul and employee overhaul! Nathaniel the 2 year experienced cashier and I only point out he had red hair because I wanna make sure the right Nathaniel gets credit if theirs more than one . Was amazing . Usually when I go to market basket it's a slow process even when the cashier moves at a steady pace but this kid killed it. Wicked fast paced, efficient, understanding, knowledgeable and on his game . He's really got a nack for this. He was prepared ahead of time. This store is wonderful and the employees are too but this kid just goes above and beyond with the customers making sure even when they're walking away they didn't forget anything . Market Baskets are always inexpensive. We stopped at this location to pick up fixings for a picnic lunch and were able to get all that we needed for a pleasant picnic. The store was clean and reasonablly well stocked. read more

The location of this Market Basket is very convenient for making a stop for groceries on the way to go skiing- it's become part of my schedule if I am headed to any of the ski areas in northern NH. It's right off I-93 (exit 20), amongst a crowded area with restaurants, gas stations, and shops...so you can stop to get gas as well. There's a prepared food area that has pretty good hot subs and other foods that just need to be popped in a microwave that are perfect for meals. I also like their bakery cookie options. This location was one of the first newer, expanded Market Baskets...aisles a little wider, selection a little more extensive, and all with the same low prices. I always go a little nuts when I get in a Market Basket, especially with snacks and beverages since that's what I usually buy for ski trips. read more

THIS PLACE IS GREAT!!!!!! I was in their about two weeks ago during the night and it was very busy but all the cashiers were very great about getting people out the door with a smile. There were two blue coats up front that nights whos names were Bryce and Gianluca. There two young boys were wonderful and very kind and helpful as they were pitching in bagging and managing everyone up in the checkout with a smile. Bryce even ran outside to to get a cart pusher to come and help me put my stuff in the car. All and all 5 stars and I highly recommend both these boys getting credit and highly recommend going to this store read more

Today I shopped at the Tilton Market Basket. Normally I have a good experience but this time was not good. My concern was with the person bagging. We always bring our own bags, large hard sided Hannaford bags. Today we had only one bag and enough groceries to fit in it. The bagger, on her name tag was Carolyn 6yrs, was apparently totally untrained on how to bag groceries. She was actually throwing our groceries in the bag! She also started putting items in the cart without being bagged. My wife retrieved the items from the cart and tried to put them in the bag, which irritated Carolyn 6yrs. She started shaking her head and continued to throw our groceries into the bag. I'm glad we didn't have any eggs! I'll avoid her next time. read more

Needless to say, I love Market Basket. We drive 32 miles to the Rochester store--our local market is Hannaford which is as bad as it gets. My only concern, yesterday, was fish for sale from Venezuela. Somehow it doesn't seem right to take food from a country where parents are selling their children because of starvation. read more
