Extremely overpriced for very small portion sizes. Service was good, but not worth the lack of food.

We stopped by this roadside restaurant after a Costco run, and it turned out to be a fantastic decision. The burgers were amazing--perfectly cooked to order with a slightly smoky, charred finish, and fresh fixings (lettuce, tomato, red onion). I ordered the Tavern Burger, and my spouse ordered the Smash Double-Patty Burger, but they ended up being identical (the kitchen later explained their flat top was broken). Despite this, the burgers were so good we didn't mind. The restaurant even comp'ed us for the price difference and a bit extra for the mix-up. We also tried the corn chowder, which was homemade and delicious, and I subbed fries for light, crispy tater tots (though I wish there had been more for the extra cost). The cozy, rustic holiday decor and seating options--bar stools, booths, and tables--made for a warm atmosphere. It's been over a week, and I'm still thinking about those burgers. Overall, good experience, I might go back. The ambience for this place is nice, it's got a romantic industrial vibe... Lots of bricks and wood with candles. The service was very good and the people were very nice. The prices are average, not too bad for the area. The food was good, but nothing special. I liked how the meals came with a side of fries, which is not necessarily common in the area. The quality was good, but there are definitely better places to get burgers and other sandwiches. Went for Valentine's Day dinner and it was a lovely experience. Service was spot on and that doesn't usually happen on one of the busiest holidays. We were greeted by John and our server as well, very welcoming. We enjoyed our meals, husband had the Tavern burger cooked perfectly and toppings fresh. I had the Farmhouse salad topped with Salmon and I absolutely loved it, it was perfectly dressed and not overpowering and vegetables fresh and crunchy. I love salads so this was a perfect meal. It was a perfect evening, the atmosphere was warm and rustic, lighting soft and made our dinner out special. We will be returning soon. read more

I always feel guilty whenever I go to someplace other than Marketplace in Danbury because we like that place so much, but after a Costco run that left us starving, I figured it wouldn't be fully cheating if we went to Market Place Tavern in Brookfield. Conveniently located right across from Costco, we came on a Thursday night and were seated immediately in the dining area. They also have a huge bar and that was filling up by the time we left, so if you want a quick bite at a bar, this is a good place for that. Service was friendly and my cocktail was perfect. We started with the buffalo chicken dip, which was amazing. I could have eaten the whole thing myself. Then I had a grilled cheese and short rib sandwich, which was outstanding. I should have only eaten half of it because it was so big, but it was so good, I couldn't stop myself. I like that the menu is a little different from the other Marketplace we go to but they still have some of the same things. It feels new, yet familiar. What is the same is the great service. If you're worn out from a Costco run and need a treat, hop across the street to Market Place Tavern! read more

Ordered dinner from Market Place Tavern in Brookfield. For my appetizer I ordered the pretzels. The pretzel came temperature hot (not spicy hot) with two dipping sauces. One sauce was a sweet type sauce and a creamy sauce. The pretzel and sauces were very good. For my dinner I had short rib tacos with shoe string french fries from their handheld menu. The short rib was seasoned well and had a nice slaw on top. Only two of the short rib tacos on small tortilla. I hope one day this menu item gets moved to the entree portion of the menu. They were so good I just needed more of them. read more

Date night is always a great night to hit up Marketplace Tavern. We were in the mood for something different and delicious. I love the fact they have aqua panna available as water has become a ridiculous taste of mine. We love the great drink selection they have as I got the 5oz down east winter blend hard cider and my other half got the house Pinot Grigio. For appetizer we started with the fried pickles which were freshly battered and piping hot when brought to the table. I really appreciate a fresh battering! For entrees my spouse got the special preached grilled cheese accompanied by the red pepper tomato soup and i got the fish and chips. The waitress and other staff were very attentive and gracious. The sandwich was delish, the soup needed to be thickened and less acidic. We brought it home so i could doctor it back to health. The fish was on point for the actual fish inside the fried shell but i did pull all the beer battered coating off as it was very heavy like pancake batter honestly to really enjoy the meal. The lemon caper remoulade was phenomenal as well as the side of malt vinegar, pickles and french fries. I think a thinner beer batter would be more sufficient, i will say the fish was perfectly cooked inside though and the 3 pieces were filling without the corn dog like coating. read more

Yum!! Went out for a double date night with some good friends. We shared the nachos - which were amazing! As for the entrees, I think I won with the short rib tacos. Well, the food was as expected, a burger for my wife and steak sandwich for me. Not bad. Substitute salad for fries +$2. Now for the drinks. Fancy fruity drink for my wife, a bit steep at $12.00, but not surprised. Now for my drink. I could not believe $15.50 for a Ketel One martini which would not be too surprising (at a fancier venue), except it came in a SMALL martini glass and had absolutely no buzz to it at all! That was extremely upsetting. Not to mention our guests House martini $13.50 and just as small and weak. I underestimated this Market Place, thinking I was going to get the standard fare from any random pub or American food restaurant, but instead, everything we got was delicious. We started with the everything giant pretzel with provolone dip, which was a fun twist on the giant pretzel, now tasting like the popular everything bagel with a well-accompanied cheesy sauce. The entrées were the burrata chicken and the rigatoni bolognese. The chicken in the first dish was like that friend invited to the party who is just okay but their +1 (the fingerling potatoes with pesto) turns out to be the star of the party. The chicken really doesn't add anything to it, but oh well, protein. The riggies were fantastic, with a sweeter sauce that almost passes as vodka pasta sauce. As riggies go, they were very good. No drinks or desserts were tried. I had gone here once for a quick friends' get-together and there was a spicy margarita drink that was horrid that was given to me as a dare. Don't dare, just have anything else. Parking and outside view is meh, but the inside ambience is good. Just get in and have some fun. read more

Where do I even begin, this is my absolute favorite spot. We go every other Sunday cause it's just THAT GOOD. Service is amazing and the food is perfect. Their giant pretzel is so buttery and full of flavor. The Mac and cheese with fried chicken is perfect. I get it every time. It's a smaller space, it being on the smaller side makes it so intimate and easier to connect with the people you're with rather then being in a bigger restaurant where it could be hard to hear the people you're with. 10/10 will be going back again this Sunday. read more

The Women's Club of Brookfield went to Happy Hour we had a group of 12. The service was outstanding. the menu for happy hour offered a wide variety something for everyone. The food was delicious. We did wish they allowed our group one big table as we were split into two table we could not all socialize properly. It is after all the reason we get together. Normally a fan, but I requested bun separate because I hate when it gets soggy when ordered for take out. So a genius puts my fries on top of the burger and lettuce under all the French fry grease because I guess they figured I like those soggy instead. Long live the air fryer! I really enjoyed our early dinner at the Market Place. Staff was incredibly professional, very knowledgeable! Love the bar area such a relaxing atmosphere. Calamari was done perfectly, drinks were delicious and i apologize for no photos on the tacos but my phone died at such bad timing, but i will be back and get you those photos. We had the Baja fish taco that was delicious as well as the Ahi Tuna one. They were served with house salad which honestly was one of the best i have ever had (mixed greens, radishes, red onions, strawberries, tomatoes and coat cheese). I really wanted to leave a favorable review but I have to be honest. Everything about our meals was mediocre at best. The sandwiches are a little pricey and they just don't deliver. I ordered the "filet mignon" cheesesteak sandwiches and the meat was a little tough and tasteless. This was the same for the MP burger. The fries were limp and tasted a tad undercooked. So, we tried to go to Bora tonight but it's Monday so we forgot it was closed. Ended up rerouting to Market because we remembered they have happy hour. Been to market a few times & it's been okay. We got there around 5:45 and were sat at 5:50. Happy hour ends at 6pm so we asked if we could put 1 drink in before it ended & the rest we obviously knew would be full price. Well this was not taken very well by the wait staff. Apparently anytime after 5:45 they do not allow you to look at the happy hour menu for drinks? We were told that we should try not ordering a drink "7 minutes before happy hour ends". My wife is a chef and I've worked in food service at one point in my life, and both of us were like uhhhh okay sorry. The lady tried to get us to order a drink after passive aggressively telling us to not order our drink LOL, it made no sense to us. So, we ended up leaving after the lady was insistent on us ordering anyways. We left, obviously, since we did not feel welcome. We were pretty bummed about the experience as this is a local spot we turn to every now and then. Wouldn't recommend or go back after this treatment, not a good look. read more

Hey so I had to review this location. I chose and vouched to go to the Shelton location because I had a wonderful experience at this location. Marketplace in Brookfield is welcoming and the people are kind. The menu is fantastic. It is cozy in this restaurant and just really makes you feel like you're in a special place, it was the complete opposite feel and experience at the Shelton location. We were seated in front of the restaurant outside, which was much too noisy with all of Rt 7 traffic zooming past. I felt the staff was lax with Covid-19 protocols. There was no hand-sanitizer outside. I will not return. The food was ok--far too greasy for my tastes. The chicken wings were very good , asked for the pretzel got 2 pretzel sticks instead of the traditional kind . Not bad a lot of butter but ok. For the main we had poke bowl very good , Mac n cheese with chicken Mac had no flavor . Seems like everything is added with or cooked with a beer cheese sauce which is pretty good. And Steak sandwich with fries . The bread to the steak sandwich was too soft and light did not hold up . Could used some more fries very small portion like a lunch menus when I was there for dinner.
