I miss being able to see the kitchen! The service was good, very attentive staff. This was our first time since it became barnwood and we're expecting a different specials menu from looking online but we shifted our sights into the new specials. The crab cakes were very good, great Cole slaw and sauce. The NE clam chowder could have had less potatoes but the clams were plentiful. I got the surf and turf filet mignon cooked perfectly medium rare with a scallop and shrimp which we happily and surprisingly cooked just right not over. The broccoli was cooked great which is rare at a restaurant usually under or over and these trees were spot on. The mashed potatoes were great as was the bordelaise! We will definitely be back.

Food quality / price (value) rating 8. The atmosphere is contemporary tavern with a large bar and plenty of high tops. The lighting and decor is romantic, vand they have a decent enclosed "putdoor" seating area. We've been here 3 or 4 times now. The food is okay, but nothing special. Service is good. I often have trouble finding anything I actually want. For me, the menu is kind of boring. Today I had the Lemon Chicken. The two filets I got were fairly small, low quality, pretty tough and stringy. I was told that the meal came with broccoli as a vegetable, but it actually came with julienne squash, vwhich, for me, whena restaurant is serving squash it means they've stopped trying. They offer a decent array of draught beer choices, but most of them are low ABV.

We picked up 2 beet salads to go. There was about 4 small bites of beets and practically no goat cheese at all. Very disappointed

Appetizers took forever to come out,…read moreand our server never apologized for the wait nor checked on us to see how our meal was. Oysters were very good, but the calamari came out cold and was very bland and overpriced. The aesthetics are solid for the establishment, and the entree was decent. Not a bad restaurant, but the service is a major downside and needs significant improvement.

We started with a couple of drinks, which were very strong..maybe a little too strong. My sangria didn't taste like sangria at all, and I honestly couldn't tell what was in it. It didn't have any fruit, and I think vodka was added. We ordered the calamari and what was listed as hummus with pita. When it arrived, we noticed the "hummus" was actually spinach and artichoke dip. I had to ask about it since I have an allergy and wanted to make sure a certain ingredient wasn't included. We decided to keep it and I'm glad we did because it was absolutely delicious!! The calamari was just as good, if not better. Both appetizers were fantastic. For our entrée, we ordered the rigatoni to share. There was a bit of confusion, as our waitress (who was also the bartender) thought we wanted it packed to go, when we actually planned to eat it and then take the rest home. She quickly fixed it in the kitchen, so really no harm done. My only guess is that since we had been sitting with appetizers for quite a while, she may have assumed we were finished eating.. I mean it was a while. The pasta itself was cooked perfectly and the sauce was very good. However, it was topped with microgreens and cilantro which really threw me off! I've never had a pasta dish garnished with cilantro, especially instead of something more traditional like basil...? It felt like a strange choice and was a bit unappetizing for me. Overall, it was a very... odd... first experience. Would I give it another shot? Yes, but I think I'd wait a bit and hope things become more organized. I have to add it is beautiful inside. They have the cutest lights on the table. Appetizers: 10/10 Drinks: 3/10 Entrée: 5/10

David, our friendly, knowledgeable host and waiter, made suggestions and we each ordered a salad and the Rigatoni Bolognese. The portions were perfect, not outrageously large, but enough to bring some home for another meal. The Spinach Salad with Pancetta, Candied Walnuts, Gorgonzola, Onion, Craisins, and Lemon-Shallot Dressing was crisp, fresh, and delectable. The bolognese was absolutely delicious and as good as any bolognese offered at an Italian eatery in Boston's North End. We highly recommend Bottega if you leave near Bethel, CT or if you're just passing through the area.

Nice selection of drinks. Waitress was very nice and patient. Gave us lots of time to decide. She brought some bread with oil which was good. We started with fried calamari. Delicious! Next time I would ask for lemon. I ordered the chicken franchise and my husband chose the chicken Milanese. We each enjoyed our entrees. We couldn't finish so brought home the leftovers. We arrived around 6pm, to a fairly empty dining room. When we left, the room had filled out more. Can easily see this place be hopping on the weekend. Waitress was really nice! Recommend Bottega to everyone. We will definitely be back.

This review is going to be a little different, so please read to the end…read more I arrived soon after they opened, and was told that the kitchen wasn't open quite yet, but that the cook was supposed to be in soon. Fine. I was in no particular hurry. I had a drink. Time passed...and passed...etc. Finally, just before I was going to pay for my drinks and leave, apparently the cook arrived, and the very nice lady behind the bar apologetically came to take my order. At this point, it would take even more time to go somewhere else so I ordered what the menu calls a Philly Cheese Steak, with onion rings. The food comes out and its unlike any other "Philly Cheese Steak" I've ever had before. Two things stood out. First, it was served not on a hoagie roll like every other cheesesteak in the world, but on a kaiser roll, so that when you pick it up, of course, everything falls out onto the plate. The second thing was the complete lack of taste. I did not know that meat, cheese, onions, and peppers could be so bland. Now, you might be asking, "After that, how can you give them 4 stars?". Here's why. When the very nice lady behind the bar came to ask how it was, I was honest...it was terrible. There was a man sitting at the bar, who I assume was the owner. She spoke to him and he came over and could not have been nicer. I don't know what issues he's dealing with in the kitchen, but he didn't seem to be surprised. He agreed with what I was saying, apologized profusely, and here's the kicker...he didn't charge me for anything. Not the food, not the drinks, nothing. When I protested and tried to pay for the drinks I would have had anyway, he refused. So...4 stars. I'm going to assume that they're going through a rough patch in the kitchen, but trying hard to fix things, and more than willing to make it right. I hope it works out for them.

Do not waste stomach space on anything else especially the seafood offerings. Get some rice, lettuce leafs, some sauce and clear out the rest of your schedule for afterwards. The service is great. They bring the meats out with no delay, grill changes are frequent, and they do a good job bussing your table. Same to the Crab legs overcooked and tasteless. Not many seafood selection for bbq/hotpot. Pineapple very sour, looks not ripe yet. We had hotpot and bbq. There's always missing items especially the meat, not giving much veggies for you very small bunch (few strings watercress) for 5 pp(seriously!) then I figured regardless you add 1 or 5 they give you same amount, long wait too. We just end up feelin " begging for food" because you have to keep ordering to get some food to show up, unlike the experience we had in Danbury. I'd rather drive over there to have a better attentive meal. It's so obvious they failed to performe like a buffet especially there's comparison i had in Danbury and harsdale, NY and New Jersey locations. Service is slow even in a weekday. The person cleaning the table is doing good job, other than that, no one comes over unless we ask for it. Honestly in Danbury they keep coming over to either change the gril (so it doesn't get all the char)l or adding soup because they dry up quickly in small pot and no missing items. And also someone cares your experience.... It was also a birthday celebration night. Unfortunately the overall experience is not pleasant, food quality is below the standard. Hope they can improve as i do appreciate they are in the area.
