At the recommendation of some locals, we visited Rebellion Kitchen and Bar and we're glad we did. It's a great addition to the Danbury dining scene and also to our restaurant rotation! We started with a really great two cheese crostini which was delicious. I paired that with a rye old fashioned (or two) and that drink really hit the spot. For my entree I had a meatball hero which was just as delicious the next day when I had the second half for lunch. The portion was huge and I loved the meatballs and the sauce. For dessert we had a cheesecake with a house made pistachio creme which was amazing. We had a chance to talk to Tim who I believe owns the place and we asked him about a sign we saw on the westside at Innovation Studios for a Rebellion Gastropub. He says he hopes to have that open early in the new year so we can't wait to try that out as well, especially since it's only a five minute drive. But it's worth a 20 minute drive or more to visit Rebellion and we'll definitely be back. read more

We visited Rebellion Kitchen + Bar on Thanksgiving Eve, so the restaurant wasn't very busy, but that actually made the experience even better. The atmosphere felt relaxed and welcoming, and the staff was attentive without ever being rushed. It gave us a great chance to really enjoy the space and the food. We started with the two-cheese crostini, which ended up being one of the highlights of the night. The bread was perfectly crisp, and the cheeses had just the right amount of richness without being heavy. I also tried their seasonal non-alcoholic Spiced Apple-Lini, and it was surprisingly delicious--refreshing, slightly sweet, and very "fall in a glass." For my entrée, I ordered the chicken Milanese, and I have to say it might be the best I've ever had. I'm usually very particular about chicken dishes, but the flavor and texture were spot-on. The breading was light and crispy, and the chicken itself wasn't dry at all. The plate came with a beautiful mix of seasonal vegetables--roasted squash, shaved fennel, cranberries, and arugula--topped with an apple cider vinaigrette that pulled everything together. It tasted fresh, balanced, and really thoughtful. We ended the meal with their cheesecake served with a house-made pistachio crème. The flavor was fantastic, especially the pistachio topping, which really made it unique. My only tiny note is that I personally prefer cheesecake a bit colder and denser rather than closer to room temperature, but that's purely personal preference and didn't take away from enjoying it. The owner also came by to chat with us, and he was incredibly friendly--clearly someone who cares about his guests and the quality of the experience. Between the great service, thoughtful menu, and inviting atmosphere, we're already looking forward to coming back and trying more dishes. "Frostbite" is a must order cocktail if you enjoy the flavor of Rosemary. This is a vodka cocktail, and I'm not one for vodka but in this? Magical. So so good! Rosemary infused vodka, white cranberry, cocchi americano, cinnamon and lime. A must try! This will be in my rotation for sure. read more

A very welcome addition to the greater Ridgefield area! We were very pleasantly surprised during our recent visit. Atmosphere is cozy and hip, service is friendly and on point, and the menu is varied without being overwhelming. Calamari, Mushroom Crostini, Rebellion Burger and House Bolognese all hit the spot; the Arugula salad was certainly quite good as well. One quibble: the pace of the meal, even though the place was not even half full, bordered on too leisurely.. Daughter's mocktail and wife's cocktail received positive feedback as well. Finally! We are so excited to try this swanky new restaurant down the road from us. The interesting outside decor caught my eye as we drove past it one day. The inside is even more beautiful. Cognac leather seats, edison style bulbs providing golden lighting... it's gorgeous. Everything we ordered was delicious. The Bronzino was crisp on the outside and juicy on the inside. The short ribs were full of flavor and trying the polenta might be the first time I've thought it actually tasted good at a restaurant. Often I find them to be gritty and cold. But here they were rich, warm, and creamy. The staff was very friendly and attentive. They seem like kind and genuine people, just cooking good food for People. read more

One word: wow! This was the most delicious meal I'd had in awhile. The family and I came around the holidays and we enjoyed a lovely dinner. The ambiance is so chic and classic. Reminds me of an old style bar and grill with lots of wood and metal accents. The drinks were fantastic and the service was very attentive. We all equally enjoyed our meals and shared some bites so everyone got to try. I had the mushroom toast as my main dish and I could eat that every day it was just scrumptious and perfect. I tried bites of the pasta pasta and the farro and both were so tasty. I liked the variety of the menu but appreciate it wasn't overwhelming huge. My one caveat is that I do think the portions especially for the salad could be improved upon as it felt quite small for the price. We came by for a Sunday brunch. And while we were the only ones there, it felt like our little secret. They have a small but very potent brunch menu. Sure, they have pancakes -- delish. But they also mix things up. I got the short rib with potatoes and an egg over medium. It was that right mix of everything that a brunch should have -- salt, a little fat, sweet, great meat, etc. The duck confit with egg was similarly flavorful with a bit of duck gravy to boot. Service (Mia) was very friendly and helpful. Good drinks too and cool vibes inside. What we ordered: -apassionata cocktail -ciao bella cocktail -elderflower liquor, tequila, lime, coconut cream drink special -cacio e pepe Caesar salad -king trumpet appetizer -tagliere misto -wood fire short rib -mar nero -espresso martini -negroni Make sure to get the king trumpet mushroom, they're grilled to perfection and are served with a spicy chili butter. Pretty restaurant with a large central bar. Wasn't too busy on a Saturday around 6. Cocktail menu had lots of options and was creative. Food menu was smaller, but had curated options. Loved the bucatini in a delicious spicy sauce. I'm not a fish fan, but I tasted my husband's bronzino and it was rather tasty! Service was pretty quick and we met one of the owners who was friendly. Extremely slow service. Entrees came out in 3 shifts with minutes delayed in between. Sat there waiting for everyone to be served while food got cold. Water glasses not filled. Run, don't walk to check out Danbury's newest restaurant! The owner, Tim, has created something so special that you won't find anywhere else in the area. The decor inside is absolutely gorgeous. You can tell a lot of work went into creating this space for people to enjoy. We went for brunch, and loved it so much we hung out at the bar until dinner just to try some of their entrees. I had the steak and eggs for brunch, and the steak was cooked perfectly and so flavorful. The show stopper was the short rib. Short ribs are so hit or miss when dining out, and these were the best we've ever had. For dinner we tried the buccatini and the seafood pasta (Mar Nero). The pasta in both dishes was cooked perfectly and the sauces were so well done. Tim stopped to chat with us about the creation of this restaurant, and went above and beyond to make sure everyone was satisfied with their meals. The craft cocktails at the bar were so delicious. There are no wrong choices here. Even if you're outside the Danbury area, it's worth a trip just for this place. My boyfriend and I came here on a whim because we were in the area, we were not disappointed! We sat at the bar and made conversation with 4 others who were seated next to us. We started with cocktails (they were great but I forgot what we ordered) but quickly moved on to the sangria at the recommendation of our bar mates. That was the winner! We shared the patatas brava (lovely), olive tapenade crostini (this was my boyfriend's fave), and the king trumpet with the farro (my fave, so tasty!). We will have to come back again to try the other offerings. The bartender was friendly and helpful and made great drinks. It was a beautiful space with leather, wood, and dark walls. My only complaint is that the bar chairs feel too short, I felt like I needed a booster seat (the other girls at the bar were complaining about this too), but this didn't take away from the experience, overall. read more

This was my third time visiting Rebellion but my first time getting food! First of all, the cocktails are some of the best I've ever had! Different and delicious! This time we ate dinner from their updated winter menu and it did not disappoint! We had the autumn tings and black cherry manhattan drinks.. so good! For food we split the burger (and made it a double which was huge and amazing haha) and then did the meatballs, calamari and Brussels. Everything was fantastic and so flavorful. This place was a pleasant surprise, even though its location--between a gas station and a liquor store on a side road--was a bit odd. But don't let that fool you; the interior is very nice and modern. The night I visited, they had live music, which I usually don't enjoy, but it wasn't distracting. The cocktails were delicious and reasonably priced at $13. We didn't try much of the food, but the fried calamari was exceptional. I'd definitely return for happy hour. One interesting thing to note is that the bar seats are quite low, which can be a bit uncomfortable. So, keep that in mind if you're planning to sit there for a while. read more

Went back to try Rebellion kitchen after my great review of my first visit. For me, it's all about consistency. Can I go back to a place and have the same quality service, food and atmosphere? This place is ridiculously good. My new favorite. The server was excellent, attentive and well versed in the menu. The food was scrumptious. We had calamari which was probably the best I have ever had. Not chewy at all, lightly breaded and perfectly seasoned. We had the olive tapenade which was also soo good! I had the short rib which was exactly how I remembered it from my last visit. Meat was the same portion. Melt in your mouth! My friend had the pesto campanelle and it had a lemony flavor which made the pesto feel light and full of flavor. They did not skimp on the whipped ricotta which was the perfect combination for this meal. We added grilled chicken. This place has only been open since January and if they were in a different location there would be a wait all day long. It's a hidden gem!! read more

If there's one regret, it's not snapping enough photos before diving into the delicious food at Rebellion. From the moment me and my friends walked in, we knew we were in for an experience. Let's start with the Cacio E Pepe Caesar Salad - a delicious twist on a classic, with the perfect blend of cheese, pepper, and greens. I'd also def recommend the spicy tuna for an appetizer. The Chicken Scarpiello - it's hands down one of the best chicken dishes I've ever had, bursting with flavor and cooked to perfection. I can also thank Rebellion for serving me my first ever espresso martini with tequila. It was delicious! From the food to the drinks, and more importantly the team that works there, it felt like family. I highly suggest you come by Rebellion if you have not already. One and done. Food service was slow and the place wasn't that busy. Apps took a half hour. Olive tempanade tasted like pureed capers on thin cold toast. Not presented like the photos here. The beet salad was a bit of cut up beet, no greens. Entrees were child size. Thinking back I should have taken pictures. The dinners took twenty minutes after the apps to come out. Overpriced. We left hungry. The ambiance was meh. Live music , couldn't have a conversation. Very safe design with a full on view on parking lot. The hype is fabricated. Unisex bathrooms - NO ! I hate this trend. Men need a urinal. There is a reason why they have them for public use. Bathroom was not clean. read more

The food tasted good BUT the menu options were extremely limited and not at all like was on the website Dinner menu! Also the pricing is extremely high and the four of us agreed it was overpriced . My wife and I went for dinner. She arrived ahead of me and ordered the bone marrow appetizer (but no longer putting the jam on the plate, just some greens). It took 40 minutes to arrive. We placed our dinner order (sharing the mushroom crostini and mushroom gnocchi). After an hour of waiting, we still had no food. In that hour I only noticed 4-5 dishes come out of the kitchen (and we were sitting at the door). The restaurant was at best half full (more like one third). Our complaints went unheeded and we walked out. It is very doubtful we'll go back, although they are quite convenient to our house. I would recommend Rein Osteria or Mix Prime. read more

Every member of the staff we interacted with were friendly, attentive, genuine and knowledgeable. The food - where to begin - amazing - every morsel was delish, hot and fresh! I had their chicken piccata special - there was not one bite of food left on my dish when I finished! The shrimp oreganata app and cannoli dessert was the perfect bookends, and the Rosso cocktail was outstanding. We are already planning our return!
