We came here after another visit to nearby New York town, and were pleased with our server. She was super friendly and accommodated my husband's gluten allergy. He had the special vanilla birch old fashioned and a barbacoa bowl and I had a burger with fries and a Sam Adams cold snap. We appreciated our bill came with two bite sized Ghirardelli chocolates. This is a great place for a casual dinner. I have been here twice and the staff could not be nicer. We had a little guy with us for dinner on a busy Friday night. Our server and the hostess went out of their way to make his dining experience as enjoyable as us grown ups. She explained some of her favorite menu items to my buddy and the food was great. Grilled cheese sandwiches made special for the kids. My buddy got a burger, I tried the beef Barbacoa bowl. It's a busy place on a Friday night. We got in early and sat for a 5 o'clock dinner. For the old timers, this is the Germantown neighborhood storefront that used to be "Augie's". It's been here for over 2 years, gorgeously remodeled, very festive and modern. Came here for brunch with my friend. The staff were very attentive and service was great. My friend got recommended one of their espresso martinis that she really enjoyed. I got a Bellini, always good. The restaurant has a great variety on their menu, anyone can find something they'd like. I got classic eggs Benny and it was so delicious! I would recommend. When we arrived it was a bit empty, I had made reservations but not sure if it was really needed. It was a really chill place. This was also the only restaurant near me that had Saturday brunch. I went yesterday, December 20th, holiday season. Their place was very Christmas themed, cute and cozy. It was a bummer I couldn't order from the original drink menu as I really wanted to try one. They had craft drinks for the season that were okay and served in a fun cup but the drinks all seemed to have an extra ingredient that just didn't appeal to the over all drink. Their fingerling potato appetizer was tasty! The main entres were okay, I had the beef barbacoa bowl and over it was flavorful but the meat was dry. My fiancé had a pasta dish with chicken added and had very little flavor. The ambiance was not bad but the music playing just did not fit the crowd, it was a mix of older and younger clients. Came here to have dinner for my birthday and everything was FANTASTIC! Our waitress/bartender Lia was the absolute best. Very knowledgeable, attentive, quick and professional. She gave us so many good recommendations (especially her custom espresso martini). The craft drinks here are outstanding and they all have a distinct flavor I haven't tried before. I used to bartend, so I know what's out there, and it was refreshing to try interesting flavors that actually tasted amazing. The food was also incredible and came out quickly. Everything was perfect. The ambiance of the restaurant was also fantastic. The music playing was excellent and went along with the feel of the establishment. It was also very clean, and the employees seemed very organized and cheery. It's a shame that I live down in Westchester County, otherwise this would easily become a regular spot for me. Had dinner at J Law with my sister for the first time. We had dinner,and a dessert. J Law has a great vibe. Right when we entered the restaurant we had a great convo with the women at the front about the talking and moving Santa. I ordered the short rib noodle bowl. The soba noodle is a stickier noodle but mine was in a clump. This does not deter me from J Law at all because the short rib was tender and delicious and overall flavor - Yum! I obviously need to be honest about what I experienced. My sister's pizza the drunk in shrimp was so good - the blackened shrimp and the vodka sauce - great combo. To finish off our meal we shared a chocolate chip cookie with ice cream skillet. I am remembering how melty those warm chocolate chip cookie was and the perfect creamy ice cream. As a fan of J Lawrence back in the day, I was happy to read about the opening of J Law Kitchen and Craft Bar! I came with some friends for lunch on Sunday. Overall, the food was really nice and did not disappoint. The place is new so there are a few parts of the service that could be ironed out, but everyone was super friendly and nice. Once they figured out who would take care of our table, the friendly waiter was very helpful. We started out with arancini and the hot donuts. Both were good, but the arancini were real standouts! I had "The Cure" sandwich, which was very good. The portion was big and I could only eat about half of the potatoes. When paying the bill, rather than splitting it like we asked, one card was charged for the full amount so that had to be credited. The waiter was friendly and transparent about it so it wasn't an issue, just a small glitch that is an opportunity for improvement. The only thing that was a little bit of a downer was the noise level. It was so loud in the place...there are no soft surfaces to absorb sounds and there were two tables of folks who were enjoying the mimosas with their brunch and they got so loud that it was impossible to hear the people at my own table. Maybe some cushioned chairs or a few well placed acoustic panels would help there but my head was pounding by the time we left and I was thankful for the relative quite once we stepped outside. Lots of potential here with great food and a super friendly staff and hope to put it in my regular rotation soon. read more

Needed a place to wait out traffic after an event at Candlewood Lake. Happy hour at J Law fit the bill. Our waitress Leah was very friendly and checked on us several times . The highlight was my husband's beer which he claims is the coldest he has ever been served. My blueberry vodka lemonade was also well made. The wings and dumplings were not the most tasty we have ever had . The wings needed more sauce and the dumplings were a little dry. Despite that I would recommend stopping by . The blonde lady working the hostess station was incredibly friendly and warm. This place is just so cute, clean, and has a lot of different food options. This time we ordered the pretzel app and that was delicious. The cheese sauce was awesome and they gave us two cups of it! So we didn't have to share we got our own. I got the caprese sandwich with truffle fries. The fries had a perfect amount of truffle. The sandwich sort of lacked in the inside. Small piece of chicken, little mozz, and 4 tomatoes. I feel like sliced tomatoes would make more sense as the cherry just rolled out! I also think adding some basal and balsamic glaze would level this up. Ooo and even like pressing it like a panini to give the bread a nice crunch!. The vodka sauce was awesome and really helped the dryness of the sandwich. We also got the salmon BLTA which had a great mayo on it. This sandwich I also felt lacked inside, the salmon was a small piece and often when you bit into the sandwich all you got was bread. The sourdough bread was great though. We substituted fries for a Caesar salad. I love that they had pretzel croutons and it was dressed PERFECTLY. We didn't order any drinks this time. I had heard of J. Lawrence when they had their Bethel location, but had never made it down there, so I was super excited to come check out their Danbury location after hearing such good things. I think it's so awesome that they offer a separate gluten free menu as well. Their selection of craft cocktails and unique takes on American food were impressive. Some of our favorite items from the night were the chorizo pie and the potato smashers! Great vibe and love the beautiful murals on the wall. We just moved to the area and decided to check out the happy hour at J Law. While we've only tried an appetizer so far, I was pleasantly surprised. The beet hummus was delicious, the cheese added good saltiness and the pistachios added good texture. The bread is like a pizza crust and absolutely delicious. Made us excited to try more! The everything nice cocktail is one of the best cocktails I have tried. A nice whiskey taste with some fruity notes and the char from the burnt orange. OMG. This was my first time here and we came for a birthday dinner. We ordered as appetizers the Smashed Potatoes and the Burrata with pears. The first taste and we were blown away. For the main course we ordered Shrimp Tacos and French Dip both with Truffle Fries. My daughter said the Shrimp Tacos were very good and I had the French Dip. Ok so we were at Costco, wanted a French dip went to Widow Browns not realizing they were closed - for business, done , so thank you yelp peeps for recommendations on J Law. Well they had a French dip, and everything sounded good so instead I went with the Chicken Caprese sandwich (amazing) my husband had the J Law smash burger equally delicious, he said it was one of the best he's ever had- the Caprese has a side of vodka sauce which I could have just drank a gallon of - genius sandwich and of course a French dip went by to another customer now we have to go back.
