It's Friday and I am hungry for clam chowder. Looked over best clam chowder deals. Found Mar.ket was offering a restaurant week special, with both clam Chowder and fish and chips. Plus, a cream filled donut. So came here to get the deal. A rainy Edmonds day. Seating here was good, a mixture of heated bar style seating and covered and uncovered tables. It was lightly raining, so sat at one of the unheated but covered tables. Ordering was done at the window. This is an order at counter and no follow up after you receive your food. Not bad, but expensive for 45.00 order. I sat for about 20 minutes before receiving my food. It was packaged to go. I expected food for here, like on a tray, Still,everything seemed fresh and hot. The clam chowder was hot and full of both clams and potatoes. Nice broth, but a thick chowder style. The fish and chips came with a large portion of fish. Surprised at how large the fish portion was. It came with homemade tasting tartare sauce. Very nice rendition of tartare sauce, made a difference in the taste. Plus, mushy peas. My first time with mushy peas. Not a fan at first bite, but it did grow on me the more I tried them. Fish was perfectly battered and came in a large portion. I did get the pino grigio in the can for 14.00. Think I would pass, not a wine I would recommend. i really don't like French fries. Usually avoid getting these. But their version was acceptable to this French fry hater. Thicker, with skin on, made me rarely enjoy eating their version. The dessert was a cream filled donut. Cream on donut was good. Again, not a donut fan. But this was passable. Needed a orange flavor as advertised, or so else to make this doughnut memorable . Overall, very simple counter service. But nice quality of food. More of a fast food experience, with good food. Still, too expensive for what you get. If you like highbrow fish and chips, with fast food level service, this place is great. I wanted better bread than packaged crackers with my chowder. I wanted less packaging with my order. The doughnut with cream was only one note of flavor. I hated when ordering,, that they proved minimal service, by closing the window and appearing unfriendly to interactions. My fried fish was undercooked. Usually something I love. But lack of any crispy batter coating on fish made it hard to enjoy. Overall, they need to match the price of food one pays, to the quality of food expectations. read more

Delicious! We tried the lobster roll and the fish & chips. Both were good. Not a cheap meal though. The seating is all outside & first come, first serve. But we were able to snag a seat by the time our food was brought out. Might be harder for bigger groups, who need a table. read more

I was really impressed by this lobster roll, I really liked the trio because I was able to sample all three of the flavor options and I could really tell that each roll had its own distinct flavors. Trio ($56) Half roll each of the Maine, Connecticut, and PNW crab - PNW had the shredded crab meat, and this was definitely my favorite because it was so buttery and fresh. - maine lobster had the most spice of the three, but not spicy at all. It had an aïoli so it was the most creamy and lemony of the three. - connecticut was the only cold lobster, and it was personally my least favorite of the three because it was more chewy- could be described as rubbery? Clam chowder was typical, nothing special. One thing to note is that there is no indoor seating so you have to sit in the designated outdoor seating area, but there are heaters so it was not bad at all, and I like that the edmonds area near here has lots of small businesses where you can stroll around. read more

I have eaten at The Market several times in Edmonds and it's so delicious every time. On this occasion I went on busy Friday evening with sunny weather. Typically, I would go for the crab in the bag but I was craving fries so I started with the clam chowder fries, which was great. For my main course, I opted for the chicken sandwich, which was crispy and juicy. The special of the day, sushi rice cakes, was a pleasant surprise. Topped with tuna and it had a little kick to it. It was only $12. One thing to note is that Market offers outdoor seating (no dine in) on a first come, first serve basis. It's a great option especially if you have a pet. read more

Unusual setup with an outside order window and only very casual outside patio seating. That said, it was warm enough with their heaters, and our lunch was fantastic! I had the ahi poke bowl. I'm already scheming when I can fit it into my schedule to have it again. Yes, it was that good. A bit upscale, the complex flavors and stellar ingredients make it special. My friend had a half warm lobster roll with fries. Reported as delicious. She really appreciated the light brioche roll, that did not overpower the lobster. Had a fantastic crab roll at Market Edmonds. You order at the window and they bring your food out to you. We also got the fish and chips and they were almost better than the buttery delicious crab roll. Fries were tasty as well. The employees were very nice and the outdoor seating was cute. Sure, it's pricier than the typical lobster rolls. But it's also a lot larger when you order the full size. Plus where else are you going to try (and potentially disappoint yourself) anyway? Is this the best lobster roll I've ever had? Nope. My fav still goes to Eventide in Portland, ME. But I'll admit that this is the best in the greater Seattle area. So 5 star it is. read more

MARKET is one of the restaurants that are turning our quaint Edmonds downtown into an exciting food destination. As of Jan 2024, they still only have the outdoor heated seating area for the dine-in option. Otherwise, the online ordering via Toast is simple, elegant, fast, and convenient. Service is friendly and efficient. It feels like a local joint, not a fast-food chain, and that is always a wonderful interaction. The highlight, of course, is their lobster rolls. Both the cold (Maine) and hot (Connecticut) lobster rolls are heavenly. We keep gravitating towards their buttery goodness every once in a while and when I can actually afford a $40 lunch ($34 plus the extras), their lobster roll is on my short list. We have also tried their crispy shrimp roll and personally, its sweet honey chili aioli sauce makes it too sweet for my personal taste. We will probably stick to their lobster rolls and crab rolls (which are just as amazing). Their french fries are perfectly cooked and tasty. Chowder option costs extra but it is a worthy option to try. read more

Totally worth the cost. Superb texture and flavor. Worth trying just to know what fast casual fish restaurants can accomplish. Before Market, I had never had a fish and chips where they seasoned and spiced the filet before adding the breading. It elevated everything. Everyone should do this. Being in a landlocked state, when we visited the Seattle area, I had to obviously get some Fish and Chips, ASAP! We found ourselves strolling downtown Edmonds and according to Yelp, The Market was definitely one of the spots to go! This quaint and adorable restaurant is only outdoors. You walk up to their outdoor counter and have the option to take it to go or enjoy their somewhat covered patio area on the side of their main building. We opted to enjoy one of the patio tables alongside the sidewalk. The whole area has a built in bar and condiment section along with some four tops, I would not recommend for large groups, but great for four-person parties and under. Though they had many delicious menu items and though I am sure the cost of one of their many different lobster rolls would have been worth it, I had trouble justifying the cost ( $21for 1/2 order and $32 for full order) and honestly fish and chips always hits the mark and great value. I was quite happy with my choice! Two large pieces of white fish, ample fries and a very unique, yet tasty mashed peas and mint salad. In addition, my husband and I shared a bowl of chowder. Both were delicious and scratched my craving for some fresh seafood. Service is fast casual, you order at the bar, snag a number and they bring the food out to you. If you need to use the restroom you have to walk through the kitchen. There is a sign that says no access, so a bit counterintuitive, but after asking an employee, they pointed us in the right direction/ gave the OK. Overall, quite tasty, would I return again? I am not sure, not because it was not delicious, or the service lacked, but because there are many options and nothing exactly stood out. We were in the Edmonds area so we decided to check out this place on my list. They specialize in lobster rolls, among other seafood dishes. We got the trio to try a little bit of everything, as well as their clam chowder. The trio consists of 2 types of lobster rolls (Maine lobster, Connecticut lobster) and PNW crab, all half roll portions, served with fries. I am a fan of the Maine lobster roll but the other rolls are also fresh and delicious. The brioche is slightly buttery and toasted. Fries were okay but obviously not their specialty. Clam chowder is rich with a lot of clams and potatoes, so it was pretty hearty. Seating is outdoor patio only, and they have water stations there. Tables can be hard to find during peak dining hours, but there is usually counter seats available. This is more of a fast casual place, as they serve the dishes as takeout and you enjoy it either to-go or in the outdoor patio. read more

They have many other good food items on the menu and we've also had their clam chowder - very creamy and filled with goodies - fish & chips are good as are the rockfish tacos. But the main draw are the lobster and/or Dungeness crab rolls. We always opt for the cold version on a soft toasted brioche bun with aioli sauce, chives and old bay seasoning topped with a sliced pickle. You can pick a side order like chowder for a few extra dollars but each comes with a side of fries. For a $1 be sure to get the Gochujang aioli sauce to dip your fries. They do get busy on weekends but the line goes pretty quick and while you wait for your food then you can queue up for the covered outdoor heated seating and tabled area! read more

The Market treats the lobster and crab with respect in their rolls, I'll give you that. Have tried lobster rolls at several other places, and this place does not over dress the crustaceans and let's the flavor of the sea come through. That said, after having given lobster rolls a try many times over, I am still left with the impression of "Wow, that's what I got for THAT much money?" It's hard to get my head wrapped around $32 for a butter-toasted roll the length of a hot dog bun, filled with a tasty but pretty small amount of crab/lobster. Four of us had one roll each, three of us had a beer along with it...$160 plus tip. This last attempt of trying to "get it" left me convinced that if I want a snack/meal in a convenient bread carry package, I'll get a hot dog, kolache, or pizza roll. If I want lobster or crab, I'll pay 2x as much for 4x-5x as much food. Ps. Fries were great. read more

I was left speechless and when I brought it up to the server, she said that there is nothing she can do. And that they changed the tuna that they previously used. This place is sooo overrated and overhyped. Probably because it's in Edmonds. It was $20+ for a lobster roll the size of a hot dog and bun. Might as well get the full roll at that point. I understand that lobster is extremely expensive and has to be sold at market price, but this seems way too high for the amount I got. The bread wasn't anything special, and I couldn't even enjoy the lobster meat because it kept falling out of my sandwich from being so shredded up. The fries weren't all perfect because I like the thinner crispier ones like at McDonald's rather than ones leaning towards steak fries. Some were softer and less crispy than others. The rockfish tacos were also outrageously overpriced, but this meal did taste good, so they know what they're doing. There was a pile of salsa and veggies on top of the fish and tortillas, so I had to use utensils again to eat this. Don't come here for the poke because you have Ono Poke nearby for less $ and better quality and quantity. You can also get poke from Costco for $14.99/lb. One of the few positives was their outdoor station with takeout supplies, utensils, water, clean up, etc. I hope people are actually putting the right things in the right places (trash, recycling, compost). They have no indoor seating, so I don't understand what they'll do when the weather turns. However, if you're lucky enough with your timing, you can snag a table in their outdoor seating area and even bring your dog. read more

I've been eyeing this spot for a VERY long time because I'm a huge sucker for lobster rolls. But the location of it was super out of the way, so I never found the chance to go until recently when I went to downtown Edmonds for a haircut. The shop is more of a takeout spot but there's a heated outdoor seating area right next to the shop where customers can enjoy their food at. I ordered a half Cold Maine Lobster Roll and a Clawbster Roll which had half crab and half lobster. They both came with fries and lemon. When I got home, I realized that I could have just gotten one lobster and one crab to share with my boyfriend WHOOPS. but the rolls were soooo good. The lobster and crab was A+! There was so much flavor and freshness from the bread and two crustaceans. The bread was nicely toasted with a buttery crisp to them. I was in loooove with the rolls that I wished I could have more. They both came with fries, so the two orders were enough to fill us up. Lobster rolls are super expensive nowadays and for the quality and flavor of them, I believe they're worth it!
