Wanted to give a small business a try in Petersburg and stopped in for a quick pick-me-up. Upon entering I wasn't greeted and both Baristas were on their phones. I ordered a small, iced vanilla latte with whole milk (my go-to at a new spot, easy enough). I noticed that the espresso machine was filthy (there were only two patrons inside and both had received their orders) and the whole station was unclean with grounds everywhere and tampers still full of used espresso. My latte was truly undrinkable. It was truly putrid. The drink was bitter and sour at the same time and had such a burnt flavor that after two sips I couldn't even finish it. I'm always happy to "doctor my drinks" up in these instances (add milk, request something else) but as a former barista myself I knew this was an espresso issue, not a milk or syrup issue. Both baristas went back to texting and I left uncaffinated, disheartened and my drink went right in the trash. With other coffee spots nearby they really need to step their game up. I could have gotten a better latte (and probably better service) at Dunkin. read more

A warm hello upon entering in this business with its large space and cool vibe ambiance. I had a customized latte and the ham + cheese sliders. I think my fig jam was left off so I asked for it which I later added to my sliders. The jam was sweet but I think it would kick it up a notch if it had a little heat to it. I love the art and they're already decorating for Christmas! Next time, I'd like to try one of their seasonal drinks. read more

Friendly, unpretentious, and designed so that you are encouraged and you are most welcome to sit in a cozy spot, read a book, work on your laptop, or have a nice conversation . The cozy seating was designed with little cozy nooks as opposed to having wide open seats in the middle of the room that leave one feeling exposed and uncomfortable. They also have plenty of seating! The drinks are great! My lavender latte was perfect. I had swiss and egg on a biscuit (I skipped the meat) and it was delicious. Yes--an actual egg fried to order on a home made biscuit. Very tasty. The decor is lovely and the business is for a great cause. Starbucks has gone down hill and with a business like this, there is simply no reason to ever go back, even if they gave away their coffee. What a nice cafe! My sister goes to the church next door and told us about this place. So glad to come by. I very much enjoyed my oat milk white mocha. My husband enjoyed his medium roast drip. We both got cookies - I got chocolate chip he got white chocolate macadamia nut. Delicious!! Extremely nice staff. Lots of room for various groups so it's a great space to hang out and chat, whether you come with one other person or whether you come with 10 people. They have a great variety of coffee choices and a small but good selection of baked goods. If you live in the area I hope you frequent this place. If you are driving by, don't miss it. With beautiful artwork adorning the walls, flexible seating, and free Wi-Fi, this was a lovely space for me to get some studying done, but it could also be a lovely spot to catch up with someone. They have a pretty expansive drink menu with employees who are extremely kind and willing to walk you through the options. They do not have many food options but have some yummy-looking pastries for sale. The best part is that proceeds go towards Regenesis, a non-profit that supports substance use recovery. I got a hot Golden Girls latte that they allowed me to get with oat milk, which was absolutely delicious! They also have fruity drink options and ice cream which I can't wait to try next! My friend and I were trying to grab some coffee at the Restored Cup around the corner from here, thinking it was the one that benefits Regenesis. Restored is apparently closed on Tuesday, so we ended up here instead. We found out that THIS is actually the place that benefits Regenesis. Not sure how I mixed that up, but happy little accidents... This space is really modern and elegant and cozy and cool all at the same time. It is brick with lots of white to brighten up the place, with random bits of color to keep it interesting. Gold accents, cool lighting, unique paintings. It is just urban enough to be cool, but cool enough to be cozy. There are lots of comfy seating options too. Comfy sofas, and wing back chairs and sleek marble tables. The specials for fall were awesome, my friend had the Golden Girls and I had the s'mores. Both were really good! Even the 20 ounce specialty coffee was the same price as any mermaid-logoed gain coffeehouse. Well worth the price. We also both had a muffin that was super moist and we went back for two of the "pop tarts". They are not made here, but they are made by one of my favorite little bakeries: Cakes and Moore in Colonial Heights (More on them in another review, but if you are going to bring in pastries to sell, I definitely LOVE that they use her and not something like the supermarket bakery. They also use Richland Dairy's ice cream in their affogatos and such, so you KNOW they will be good too. Everyone here was super helpful and friendly and loved talking about the venture that this business supports. We chatted with the outreach coordinator for Regenesis and she was so helpful, telling us about upcoming events (coffee and classic cars?!?!? Yes!) We really liked the ambience and the coffee and everything here so we will definitely start alternating between here and Demolition since we are fans of them too. Meh. Latte was barely warm, and not good. I got the egg and cheese biscuit, threw away the bottom half of the biscuit. The cheese was on only 1/4 of the egg, the rest was melted into the tinfoil. I guess the standards around here aren't very high. Staff was cordial but not friendly. read more

The space is clean, bright natural light, all sorts of seating, the decor is absolutely stunning, the baristas were very friendly and most importantly their cortado was delicious. I drove two hours from home to drop my son off at an appointment. Petersburg, Virginia is not a large city so I was just happy to find a coffee shop. Demolition Coffee is another wonderful coffee shop in Petersburg, but I visited it last year; so I was excited to find a second shop in the small town. From my first glance of Market St. Coffee's building inthe parking lot I knew it was going to be beautiful. The owners did an incredible job with the decor and ambience of the shop. The building is old, but it was brought back to life with care. I should have taken more pictures of the inside. Looking around you can tell that Market St. Coffee sells more than coffee they are a gathering place for community. If you need a place to read, work or visit with friends Market St. Coffee is the place for you. Enjoying life one cortado at a time! read more

I opened the door and what I found surprised and delighted me. Vaulted ceilings with modern light fixtures and furniture. Nooks of tables here and there for a cozy or restaurant vibe. There's a party/ meeting room that closes off. Very spacious inside and accommodating to families. Local farm Richlands ice cream on deck!
