Thanks "Virginia Cafe Passport" for helping me find this place! This was our first visit in our cafe passport and it did not disappoint. Most important question, would I come back? Yes! Second most important, how's the house coffee? Unfortunately, it's weak and a little watery. Third, how's the latte? Great! Just was missing foam but it was smooth and rich. Fourth, staff? Great folks that were kind and attentive. Finally, the place. It was spacious with thoughtful seating. It was very clean and wasn't too loud. This shop is close enough to us that I'd come back. I'd come here for the latte, I just wish it was open later; I would love to come here on a Friday or Saturday afternoon/early evening but they close at 2pm. read more

We found this gem of a local coffee shop while visiting Chester, VA. Let me say that the service is exceptional and the ambiance of the cafe is very relaxed, welcoming, and comfortable. Although we did not try any of the baked goods, they looked absolutely delectable! They also serve breakfast and lunch as well! I can say without hesitation or reservation that if we lived in this area, we would be at this coffee shop daily! Oh, the coffee is really good as well!!! read more

Here on vacation and I'm already sad today is my last day having breakfast at this amazing coffee shop!!! Can't wait for my next trip so I can try more things!! The hits for us so far is of course the coffee, plain chicken salad on white bread and the egg sandwiches! I had a bagel with egg cheese and bacon. Wifey had croissant with egg ham and cheese. I've been here twice now. I might get one more chance before going home to Georgia. The service is great! First trip I had a large cold brew coffee and a cinnamon bun. Good coffee. The bun of fantastic. Sticky, sweet, warm - maybe the best I have ever had. Today was a Macchiato (it turned cold). The coffee was great. There was plenty of espresso and the right amount of milk. Most shops do mostly milk and some coffee. Two thumbs up. I also had a blueberry muffin and a banana nut bread muffin. Both great and fresh as can be. Please try this place. Amazing experience. I was running errands in the area and wanted some coffee. This was an awesome place to grab a quick bite. Coffee was made perfect not too sweet. Breakfast sandwich was warm and felt as if I made it at home. 10/10 totally recommend trying them out! read more

Let me start by saying my Wife and I love coffee and we prefer to support local business. From a coffee perspective, we think Grant Coffee is five star. Unfortunately, coffee isn't the only thing they do. Today we visited for the fourth time. One other couple was in the whole place & there were three people behind the counter. Did we get a greeting? no. Once at the counter the young lady was pleasant enough however the gentleman behind the counter borders on unfriendly & rude. Now, I'm no Customer Service expert, but I'd figure a village coffee shop would be full on a beautiful Saturday morning... My Wife ordered a cinnamon roll, warmed. I guess technically it was "warmed" since it was above room temp, but barely. My breakfast sandwich was done well. All food had good flavor and service was the speed I'd expect from a small coffee shop. We'd go back if we were in the village, but certainly wouldn't go out of our way with so many other options. read more

So the coffee, cleanliness, and croissant sandwiches were impeccable. I would have rated higher for how good all of that was. The donut and cinnamon roll were pretty dry. Maybe it was a bad day. Nice and spacious coffee shop with a few tables on the sidewalk as well. They have lots to choose from including breakfast sandwiches, bagels, croissants, cupcakes, donuts and muffins. Love that this place is Veteran owned! Their latte was smooth, flavorful and even without adding pumps of syrup was quite good. Very good mocha, not too sweet which is my preference. Definitely did not enjoy the drip coffee, it was too fruity, citrusy and acidic for my taste. Very clean cut ambiance, welcoming and friendly staff, great seating options and very clean. The vibe was good . Live music . Staff friendly. Menu is not big, basic cafe style food. Sandwiches and drinks. We are active duty and love to support local businesses especially those who give a shout out to the military ( military discount offered). I will say the drinks are Starbucks prices. I wanted to love the coffee. unfortunately my drink experience was not good. Wait time a little long , he apologized for the wait. I watched him add more ice and mix to the drink . I order a Chai tea fap with almond milk. Appearance watery. What I received was more like flavored water without the flavor. I kindly brought it to the staff's attention, hoping for a quick fix or at least a bit of understanding. Instead, I was told there would be no refund. Because he made it according to the recipe card . Interesting approach to customer service. And the reason why I didn't ask for a remake is because I had already watched him. Try to fix the drink. A really chill spot with fairly priced food! I tried the chicken salad sandwich on a croissant and a lavender matcha latte. The chicken salad was a bit too salty for me which made me lose the flavor profile but the croissant was delicious. The latte was also good! The space has a grey industrial theme. read more

Living in Chester one gets used to the sad hegemony of chain stores. The opening of Grant Coffee Company, however, represents an exciting spurt of locally-driven growth in our community! Unsatisfied with Starbucks or fast-food coffees for either their prices, their flavor, or both, I have gotten used to not getting coffee in the morning on my way to work or just waiting till I get into the city to grab something. My plight is now over! I swung into Grant this morning to check out their offerings and was pleasantly surprised to find cold brew on the menu! They have all your classic espresso based drinks too. My partner grabbed a caramel macchiato on his way to work right when they opened at 6, and he couldn't stop raving about the quality of the beans and the good prices. $3.30 for a large cold brew is indeed a steal. Most other shops around charge a flat $4 for a 20 oz. This spot is hip with its stainless steal and clean furniture. There is a ton of seating whether you're there to do homework, work remotely, or catch up with friends. The owners' work to help provide meaningful employment to the autistic community is just another great reason to patron this place in addition to their quality coffee, comfortable location, and incredible prices. Any long-term Chester dwellers will remember when this location was once Chester Perk, a coffee shop that closed due to a lack of business. I hope Chester and the surrounding suburbs take note of this fantastic local addition to our village community and support this shop accordingly. read more

Bagels aren't good enough to be labeled "mediocre". They dole out cream cheese like the future of the company hinges on how much goes on YOUR bagel RIGHT NOW! And they don't even spread it for you. You get a cup and a flimsy plastic knife that literally can't handle the job. And everything is a fortune. I understand that this is a little local business but what you pay extra, you're supposed to get back in value. You don't. Grant's is in the neighborhood so we walked up for a coffee one morning. It wasn't too crowded. Service was great. I got something frozen and it was good, unfortunately I can't remember what it was. I hear they are adding musicians so that will help create some atmosphere. My only complaint about Grants is that they aren't open long enough! They close shortly after lunch I believe. In addition to coffee drinks and specialties, they also have pastries , baked goods, and sandwiches. It's a nice little neighborhood spot. On Wednesday June 18th, my wife and I entered that Dunkin at approximately 9:00 AM with another disabled veteran, both of us dressed in our Veteran Service Organization (VSO) shirts, hats, etc. I do not recall the man who helped us having a name tag on, but he was a young African man with dredlocks and glasses. Initially, he was courteous, until the other veteran asked for a military discount, to which the employee replied that they had one, but the manager was gone and he could not ring up that discount. I went ahead and ordered two dozen donuts for other veterans who live at the VA Hospital which we were providing brunch for and I said as much. My friend insisted and asked for the manager's name which the employee refused to give. A discussion between them got a bit heated and the employee asked my friend to leave the store, loudly - "Get out of my store!" My friend left so the employee could finish serving us, as the first dozen was half ready and we did not wish to be late for the brunch. At that point, the employee turned to myself and my wife (who had not said a word the entire time) and said "Get out of my store!" I asked him for the name of the manager, so we could address this at a later time; he refused again. We left. Research since then has not revealed the name of a manager, district manager or otherwise, or even if the store is a franchise or a company store. The listed phone number also does not ring at the store, nor can a message be left. With no way to reach the company to report this unacceptable behavior up the Dunkin chain-of-command leaves me little choice but to pen this review so this does not happy to anyone else.

The owner is a bully and sends his goons to bully people on Facebook for writing bad reviews of this subpar coffee joint. The staff really just don't care, and it is a crapshoot if you will even get what you ordered. The coffee smells, and tastes like some repacked kirkland junk. God forbid they get your order wrong (likely), as the owner will come out and badger and bully you about it.
