The apple chestnut soup is so creamy and sweet. Really good as a start. The bread came out cold, but it was fluffy had a bouncy gluten texture. The white bean soup came with white bean fritters, which were crunchy but with a lentil-like texture on the inside. The waiters came and poured the soup directly with the minced vegetables. The halibut was cooked well and tasted great but the real star was the andouille sausage and shrimp jambalaya--excellently seasoned. The creamy sauce on top of the rice made every bite feel fulfilling. The added microgreens added a freshness and crunch to the meal. The menu is expertly chosen and the meals are balanced and flavorful, and they vary often. Their website is not always up to date and depends on what is in season. My only gripe is that the portions are small for the price, but it's worth it! read more

We absolutely love this place. The food is spectacular every single time we come here. The menu changes all the time. They source everything locally, even their own home grown vegetables, etc. Jason, the chef, is an artist with every item on the menu. Appetizers are incredible. Try their pâté! We always pair our dishes with their recommendations for wines and it's on point. Main dishes are to die for. Their sauces, the combination of flavors, presentation, the "extra" in every dish and bite is so good. They will accommodate you and change sauces to dairy free if you need that. We had the rockfish dish and the ribeye steak. Wow! Both were incredible. Salad before our main dishes, simple but an incredible and unusual combination and flavor. Desserts, yum! Amazing service! They went above and beyond to make sure everything was perfect (celebrated my bday there this weekend) . Friendly, professional, attentive, happy, and they genuinely care about your experience there. Delicious, creative food and exceptional service. We could not have enjoyed our visit to Market Table Bistro more. Bread board/olives, scallops, apple salad, mushroom gnocchi, fish, a surprise dessert - everything was beautifully presented and perfectly prepared. The charming, casual but sophisticated environment, and drive through the countryside made it that much more special. My first visit I seriously thought they were playing with me, I got my drink in a mason jar and everyone else had regular glasses. I am from Tennessee, mason jars are standard cuppary, I did not expect that at a place like this. However, through time and multiple visits, I've learned this is basically a hipster-chic thing where you drink out of a mason jar ironically for the "experience". LOL. My grandmother loved this place; we would go here every time we were in town to visit her. The butternut squash bisque became her favorite and they make it fresh every day when in season, it is good. I believe right now (10/2023) it is only available as a takeout dish at $32/quart. Depending on how busy they are, you may prefer that to avoid waiting. Though if you have to wait, this place is well worth it. I enjoy the comfy atmosphere and even the mason jar "joke". This is a very nice family-owned place and a gem that Lovettsville is better for having. The staff are always very nice and accommodating, you never have to wait long or wonder where your waiter is if you need something. The food is part of an ever-changing menu that uses locally sourced farm-to-table fruit, vegetables, and meat. Even the extensive Wine selection is from the area and surrounding. This is why the prices will seem higher, but you get what you pay for. You want quality, sometimes you have to pay for it. I have attached many pictures of the dishes that we have gotten. I do not have prices but just assume $50-$100 per person as an average. If you are even considering visiting or have heard good things from friends, believe them and go ahead and take a chance. I really enjoyed my visit to Market Table Bistro! I came in for a quiet dinner on my birthday after hearing great things about their fresh, farm-to-table style menu. It was a Wednesday evening and a few people dined inside while me and one other table opted for outdoor dining on the patio. There's plenty of outdoor dining that faces the quiet street. They also have a small parking lot in the back of the restaurant. Knowing that the menu was seasonal and ever changing, I really had no idea what I would order. I ended up landing on the Rockfish entree after the server recommended it. She also recommended a wine pairing with the sauvignon blanc on the wine list. It was the perfect match and not too sweet! The rockfish was fresh, light, and perfectly cooked. The corn and garnishings were also extremely fresh and you could tell it was local produce. I did notice that while the menu listed the dish to include potatoes, the dish didn't arrive with potatoes. I'm guessing that they probably just ran out which is not uncommon for a farm to table restaurant! It's a sign of a fresh, and appropriately seasonal menu. I also ordered the churros for dessert which were heavenly!!! My only regret is that I couldn't finish it. They were huge! It was like a funnel cake texture with sugar. I think they could've used some chocolate or honey dipping sauce though instead of just the honey on the plate. Bonus points: the honey is local and was just amazing *drools* The service was excellent and each of the folks who helped me were really kind - asking questions about my trip and giving suggestions for hikes, breweries, and restaurants to check out. Small town local flavors meets big city dining. This little gem in a town with no traffic lights, or traffic! We came in with no ressie the Thursday before Valentine's Day and was promptly seated by the fire in their front room. The main room has nicer decor but due to the fire (and it being cold out) the front room was perfect. We were given delicious bread and hummus to start with. We ordered the drink that supports a local Veterans group - Rallye for Vets. Gotta love restaurants that support our military. I told him I don't love sweet drinks and he made it more 'booze forward'. It was delicious. We ordered two apps to share (mac & cheese and deviled eggs) and a main each (Tasting of Berkshire Pork). When the third and fourth app came out we said "are we accidently on a tasting menu?" And our server said "no, it's a slow night and we want to cook for you two". So sweet! I'm not saying this will happen every time but knowing these are the kind of people who run the place warms my heart. The Mac and cheese wasn't quite done (we were the only ones in the place and I'm guessing the oven wasn't warm enough yet) and they immediately took it back and replaced it with a new piping hot version which was very tasty! The deviled eggs were great - different flavors each time. The bonus duck steam buns in taco form were amazing! Highly recommend. The fried oysters and mushrooms was also delicious. We actually liked the ones they brought more than the ones we ordered. We appreciate the wine selection in that the prices are all about the same (and not super high) and they have one local wine with 3 other great options so it doesn't take you forever to decide. We got the Walsh Family Cab Franc since we are members there and love their wine. Then we felt with them being so generous we HAD to get dessert and ordered the chocolate silk cake roll which was delicious! What an amazing spot for brunch. Everything we tried was so fresh and delicious. The ingredients are all sourced locally and you can tell - everything is bursting with flavor. We ordered their family meal takeout of Turkey Lasagna. I'm sorry to say we won't be back. It felt like we were eating frozen Thanksgiving leftovers that someone tried to make a dish from. Too much turkey with large chunks and cartilage, greasy and heavily seasoned with a taste that was difficult to get rid of after eating. We are throwing this out. We are big fans of Cocina on Market in Leesburg and not so much of Market Burger (Purcellville), but have been wanting to visit the flagship Market Table Bistro from some time. We went for Saturday brunch and were not disappointed. Walk in the door and you first get hit with the pleasant smell of fresh cut herb and aromatics being prepped for various dishes. The inside is cozy, but open. We started with the butcher's board selection in-house charcuterie. The star was an Italian sausage with a smokiness, nice salting, and good spices. Portion sizes were relatively large. For mains my wife went with the eggs benedict, which can with big slabs of super tasty Canadian bacon, hollandaise (of course) and some potato hash. Toast too. Everything was great, but probably a little too much on the carb front. I went with the pastrami sandwich, which comes with pickled cabbage, aged cheddar on sourdough bread and side of kettle chips. The pastrami was perfectly cooked. Not dry, nice saltiness and paired well with the pickled cabbage and cheddar. The bread was toasted nicely with butter. I could have done without the kettle chips. They were good, but I was carbed out from the bread and the brioche that came with the butcher's board. Service was great. We are looking forward to coming back for a full dinner. My wife and I came here for our 13th anniversary. All the other Yelp reviews are true-this place is ridiculously good. I have only reviewed a few places on Yelp, and I do it when they are amazing or terrible. This place is absolutely the former. We were quickly greeted at the door and shown to our table. The staff was so nice and you could quickly tell they all worked as a team. As our meal began the chef himself brought us out an amazing plate consisting of chicken liver pâté, 2 year marinated garlic, and a "jam" like preserved tomato with bread. Everything was super. We got the butternut squash soup, pork roll, and the filet. Each was equally amazing and each had a unique and fresh flavor. The presentation was great too as each item was present with just enough subtle flair to make it feel fancy (but not TOO fancy...) It's only a 20 minute drive from leesburg and short trip from most of Loudoun county. If you want a great place for date night, or to take friends visiting from out of town, go here. In short you are not getting the same dishes that you will get at every other restaurant. The staff s excellent and very welcoming. This place serves all local food/produce. I visited for lunch. I shared the charcuterie platter, cheeses, and special of the day with my husband and each item was better than the last. The local cheeses were perfectly paired with apple butter, blueberry compote, honey, and a sourdough cracker. The charcuterie was a beautiful delicious spread of duck, tongue, Canadian bacon, and a couple other meats and a bunch of pickled items. Wow, what a great experience. We made a reservation for my wife's birthday, and the first surprise was a birthday greeting printed on our menus. Everything is locally sourced and prepared onsite, even fresh baked bread. The bib salads were excellent with cubes of bacon. We both had fillets, tender and perfectly cooked over new potatoes and creamed spinach. Finally after refusing any home made desert we were given small glasses of Prosecco with a tablespoon of spiced apple sorbet. We will have to get the sorbet next time. We were sent here on a recommendation from a local farmer. Wow! We were blown away at how amazing this place is. The servers are extremely knowledgeable and easily explain some very complex dishes. We got the charcuterie board which was an amazing assortment of house made terrines, pâtés, sausage, bacon, etc. Holy cow it was all so good! We also got the cheese platter which was a mix of local cheeses and some sour dough crisps with assortment of sauces. Again, they hit it out the park. Our final dish was the pork terrine which was the brunch special. I'd never heard of anything like this. It was a mix of slow cooked pork meats lightly fried in a fritter-type batter then topped with an egg and some sauce served over a bed goodies. Mouthwatering good! If we didn't live more than an hour away, I'd be a regular. They have a fan for life. Can't wait to go back and try the dinner menu. read more

Cute little town and great food. We stopped in Sunday for brunch and were lucky enough to get a table right away, but I would call ahead next time. The place is not very big and can fill up fast. The staff here was great and they have lots of fresh made drinks and local wines on the menu. Everything looked so good, but I ordered the pot pie, which was amazing. It was even made from local chickens. I am not a huge pot pie fan to be honest, but I saw someone else order one and decided to give it a try, it was worth it. If you are the traveling the wineries with your dog this is a fabulous dog-friendly place to stop for dinner. We sat on the patio and enjoyed the fabulous weather. I will say I didn't love the cocktail selection but the food was on pretty on point. We had the pickles which were a nice mix of asparagus, those tiny red peppers, and cucumber. We had the wasabi deviled eggs which were not spicy but were cold and rich. I had the crab salad which had a few shells in them but was overall refreshing and tasty. The Korean pork tacos were really good!! We ended the meal with rhubarb creme brûlée which had just a hint of rhubarb and was very creamy and good. The portions are small here so I recommend an app and entree if you are hangry. Service was great and food came out in a timely manner. With a closing time at 8pm I was worried about arriving at 7pm but the 8pm is more of a last seating cut off. Plenty of parking in the back of the restaurant. read more

I've been here at least four times now, albeit almost exclusively for brunch but needless to say it's been over the course of three years so I've been able to observe the progression, growth and if applicable the decline of this restaurant. The latter (happy to say) doesn't exist. They've been able to maintain the same standard as they did from day one. Their food is absolutely delicious; their brunch menu isn't large by any means but the dishes never disappoint. Including their specials, which seem to be the chef showing off more than anything which means you should certainly try whatever the special is for that particular day. Anything pork, ANYTHING PORK that they're highlighting you need to try. This place does pork better than most, so you should not skip out on that since their menu is pretty fluid. Service here doesn't disappoint, each time i've been the waitstaff has rotated but there's never been a change in the standard of service i'm experienced which has been excellent. Lastly the drinks (ok - BRUNCH COCKTAILS); first off they're a tad expensive as the pour cost here seems to be around 30%, so keep that in mind. That being said they're worth it so be sure to factor that into dining. You're looking at a cost of about $75 for two at brunch if you get three courses + drinks. Can't find a better spot for brunch, and you'll be surprised how charming it is for dinner. read more

Fantastic restaurant with extremely poised and efficient waitstaff. An overall elegant experience without being fussy. All the dishes were plated beautifully with close attention to detail. An excellent farm to table spot that lists where they get their ingredients which we really appreciate. Menu changes regularly to showcase what is fresh and available, and wine list also features VA wines so you can eat and drink local! Chicken Liver Pate was a stand out, salads were deliciously large for a first course, and our pork entree was exactly what we hoped it would be. We've been here a few times now -- as a couple, with groups, with our family, etc. -- and this was the most disappointing visits we've had. For starters, the wine list has gotten very un-bistro-like. They never had a large selection of wines by the glass but the selection now is very light. Our restaurants in the area (Parallel in Ashburn, AhSo in Brambleton, etc.) all do this much better. The food here has always been quite good and ordinarily the service keeps pace. Tonight was a bit lopsided. The food we ordered was quite tasty (the "textures of mushrooms" appetizer was quite clever and well executed) but there were a few disappointments. The Bistro board ($26 to serve two) was incredibly sparse. I've ordered this before and have loved it but tonight it was embarrassing - and when told this our server could not have cared less. The duck entree was tasty but the description included persimmons - in fact there wasn't a persimmon anywhere near that duck at any time in its preparation. The service tonight was frankly just bad. Our waitress completely forgot to place one of our entree orders - ordinarily you'd notice this when all of the entrees are brought to the table and one person is without food. But apparently common sense is not that common. When asked about this missing entree, our server came back with "my bad" ... and 15 minutes later a much rarer than ordered duck breast was delivered. This is ordinarily a good restaurant that's a bit pricey for what you get and for where it is but we've never minded that as we've always enjoyed ourselves. Tonight, I hope, was a terrible misstep on their part. Since there are so other very good bistro-type restaurants near us these days - and ones with better menus and far better wine lists - I don't think we'll be back here for some time. When we do return, I hope the servers have received better training and perhaps an injection of empathy. read more

I was almost giddy when it arrived. My own mini quiche. Yet it was not so mini. I didn't think I would finish it but never underestimate my appetite. All gone. Fiance had classic eggs Benedict & it had MOUNDS of shaved pork loin. His breakfast potatoes were so crispy & delicious- how did I know? I kept spearing them with my fork. Absolutely amazing food and service. Was quite a surprise to us to find this gem in a little country town. I had the cucumber avocado soup, we both had the filet, and got a cheese plate and dessert. Food was phenomenal. My son immensely enjoyed it and cleaned his plate, which leads us to our only complaint. Portion sizes were teensy tiny. Perfectly done, but we left still hungry. I could have drank a bucket of the soup, but it was poured from a small creamer pitcher and maybe filled 1/4 of the bowl. The filets and it's platings were perfect, but it looked to be about a 4 oz filet. My son has never finished food and asked for more in his life But, Still, he ate everything on his plate, including the creamed spinach. Thank you for finally getting a vegetable in him! Everything was perfectly delicious, cheese plate was local and outstanding. He even told me this morning he dreamt about dinner last night. Had a lovely lunch with some friends here on Saturday. You get to watch them making fresh pasta and sausage and other things. All the employees are really nice and helpful, taling the time to explain things on the menu, and always at the ready to pour more water! I had the champagne cocktail, kale parmesan salad, and soup and sandwich. The dressing on the salad was creamy and just the right amount, kale was very fresh. The sandwich was a brie and thinly-sliced-apple grilled cheese, and it was creamy and buttery goodness. The soup was a butternut squash bisque, creamy, sweet yet savory, perfect for a cool January day. They have a good selection of choices, both meat and vegetarian choices. Not sure they offer gluten free or vegan options however. A small and out of the way place, but definitely worth the trip. read more

On our way back from whitewater rafting in West Virginia, my wife and I were famished and looking for a suitable place to eat and relax that may have been a cut or two above a typical Panera Bread or similar eatery. Using her handy dandy google machine on her cellphone, she found the Market Table Bistro, which seemed to check all the boxes: somewhat upscale, trendy, outdoor dining, dog friendly. We were excited to have possibly found a go-to restaurant when traveling through this part of the world. After figuring out that the rear entry door was actually the front door, we sat ourselves at a cute farm table. Expanses of cooking and travel books graced the bookcase by our table. Whiteboards were filled with local information by the food/beer bar, and one of our servers brought us the brunch menu (it was a Sunday) and poured glasses of cold water from corked blown glass bottles. Promising! The menu was interesting, if a bit pricey. The specials that day were tenderloin prepared in a couple of ways - sounded good, but for twenty bucks plus a pop a tad expensive. We both opted for the catfish sandwich meal, served with some specialty potato chips. How could they screw this up? And if this bistro were as fancy as advertised, we were sure the presentation would be fine, and possibly interesting. Out the sandwiches came: four ounces each of breaded, fried catfish with no seasoning, on an overly cumbersome white bun with paltry portions of tartar sauce and lettuce. The rest of the oversized plate was adorned with a thin layer of potato chips that could be found at any 7-11. Two smallish glasses of unsweetened iced tea (we had to ask for lemon slices which came out half-mummified) rounded out the meal. Total food cost to the restaurant could not have been more than $4 - $5 for both meals. Our hunger overcame our disappointment, and down the hatch the catfish sandwiches went. I should have known better when I initially went to find the men's room to wash my hands before my meal upon arrival, and all that was available were two bathrooms marked "toilette". My trepidation at what version of the modern day human species in either one was palpable. In my frequent "what-if" musings of a grander life, I oftentimes wonder what it would be like to open my own restaurant. A little place built into a cozy old home, relying on the good spirits of well-trained and friendly staff, and using nothing but the bounty of the local land to feed my patrons. Market Table Bistro is the restaurant I would open if I were to ever pursue that pipe dream. They go above and beyond to make you feel welcome and ensure that you will leave their dining room craving more. The menus are extremely seasonal - they change on a weekly/monthly basis depending on the season, chef's mood, or whatever our lovely local farms are currently growing. I've yet to have a bad meal - the dishes we've tried have ranged from steak and eggs to pickled vegetables, pork three ways, shrimp with ratatouille, eggs benedict to raspberry creme brûlée. No dish has fallen short of superb in both taste and presentation. The waitstaff is welcoming and will chat with you about the seasonal offerings. On our way out after our last visit, one of the sous chefs saw us examining the garden 'round back and told us about the edible flowers they'd been using in their menu that week. We even got to nibble on some. The ONLY downside is the neighborhood where the restaurant sits - it's like walking into a Jerry Springer episode. Shirtless yokels, smoking teens and loitering unsavories await on every corner. And unfortunately, they are very close to where you eat (which is really only a problem if you're eating on their adorable outside patio) and can be loud and obnoxious at times. It's not really the fault of Market Table Bistro's- just wanted to give the unsuspecting diner a word of caution if they planned to dine outdoors.
