I came here 6 years ago and returned this year and am a fan. You are served in a cozy inn and my server was awesome. Dinner is a 4 course meal. I had a beet salad, butternut soup, choice of gnocchi or filet, dessert (choose of cake or cheese). Everything was good. I do this the price tag of $85 is a lot. Breaking it down it is $15 salad, $15 soup, $15 dessert, $40 entree. I go to a lot of nicer restaurants and I think this cost is a bit high and I wouldn't pay this much for this quality but the meal and staff are great. Everything I ate was really good. Breakfast is 2 courses: sweet than savory. Really good too. I didn't like the coffee, it was a bit sour? But if I was staying at this Inn again I would have dinner again.

Redbook had been on our list of restaurants that we wanted to visit since we moved to the area in 2016. My husband took me here for my birthday in November 2020 and we were so looking forward to a night of fine dining. The location was gorgeous and the restaurant was set up lovely. But unfortunately we were left very disappointed by this "fine dining" restaurant. The server was not well versed on the wine list or the cocktails and disappeared to give us answers and never returned until it was too late and we gave up asking. Our cocktails were very nice. The salads were mediocre but pleasant. The soup was delicious. Our mains were average - I had the scallops, my husband had the filet. The chocolate dessert course was the highlight to my husbands meal. My cheese course was embarrassing - a single sweaty piece of cheese and condiments... cannot really be called a cheese course when there was more bread and mustard than cheese. I wish I had ordered the chocolate dessert. The main issue we found was that it was a very fast paced meal, and felt as though they wanted to get us out as soon as they possible could. Not a great feeling for the money you spend. Then at the end of the meal, our server gave us the check and disappeared and never returned; we had to track him down and found all the servers chatting in a corner. For a fine dining establishment in a beautiful location, we expected more. I suggest that they educate their staff more, and slow down the meal progression to make it more enjoyable and worthwhile. Especially as we are local residents and wanted to make this location a regular venue for special occasions. But things need to improve for us to come back.

Every single course was a HIT. So so so good! Amazing staff and gorgeous decor/environment. If you want a classy meal and experience and don't mind paying the price for it, this is the perfect place for you!

Redbook Restaurant is FABULOUS! The chef exceeds our expectations every time. Can't beat the beautiful, romantic setting in Hillbrook Inn!

Our menu for the night - everything was so good! Dessert also came with a portion of bananas foster!

One of the more reasonably priced, without skimping on taste, 5 course meals you will have! We stayed at Hillbrook for the weekend and decided to try their restaurant for dinner and are so glad we did. Every course was to die for (see picture for the menu we had), the location is beautiful, the service was great and the wine was flowing. We decided not to do the wine pairing but instead ordered two bottles (for the same price) then took what we had left back to our room. Although it's part of your experience if you stay at Hillbrook Inn, the breakfast from Redbook was so good too! First they served this vanilla and lemon custard with strawberries then thick toast with delicious sausage, cherry tomatoes and topped with a poached egg. Even if you don't stay at Hillbrook (although you should!) definitely have dinner at Redbook!

The outside of the Hillbrook Inn&Spa - the Redbook is located inside.

The Redbook Restaurant is in the amazing Hillbrook Inn & Spa. The Hillbrook has so much charm and beautiful scenery, we are excited to go back for a stay. The redbook is their "fine dining" restaurant and it is absolutely worth the trip. It is a chefs tasting menu with 5 courses for $79 a person (+$30 a person for wine pairings). We were very impressed with all but 1 of our courses. The butternut squash soup, steak, and pork belly were all DELICIOUS! The chefs menu changes every night. We would absolutely recommend this to anyone looking for a delicious, unique dining experience in Charles Town. Service was also great. Dress code is business casual or nicer.

There were several pizzas I wanted to try, but I am always on the lookout for something unique and settled for the Pickle Pizza (basil garlic oil, mozzarella cheese, spinach, organic dill pickles, old bay seasoning). They also have a nice selection of beer. I had the Dead Tree (Sherry Barrel aged Imperial Stout with Hickory Syrup from Falling Bark Farm in Berryville, VA. Smokey, roasty maltiness). I would certainly come back when in the area!

"Super cool brewery in a super cool town."…read more I had been wanting to stop in here for some time now and the last time I was close by we didn't get a chance to make it but this time we did. This brewery has an amazing space and even though we didn't eat because we were planning on going to dinner afterwards, all of the food I saw people eating did look quite delicious and the prices were great too. Next time :P The bar area was busy so we waited a couple minutes before the server made his way over to us. He was a super cool dude. Thanks bro! We ordered: - Sour Doah 5/5 - 3rd IPA Vision 5/5 I love how many different types of beers they have and the many flavor complexities they infuse into their beers. I can't wait to come back and try more of their beers in the near future. We grabbed our beers and a sticker of course and headed out back to soak in the sun while we enjoyed our beers and each others company. My baby also walked back in and grabbed us a couple bags of kettle chips to munch on while we drank our beers, love her. This is an awesome brewery and if you're ever in the area make sure to check it out and have a beer for me. Sláinte :)

I met up with a friend to gamble so we ate here beforehand. The first thing that kind of turned me…read moreoff was the hostess telling my friend she couldn't find his reservation in her schedule and initially it looked as if she wouldn't admit us. After that was settled we were taken to our seats and the place was pretty much empty! Why sweat us about the reservation when they could've sat us anywhere? Not to mention that my friend is a frequent patron of their casino so it would seem that we'd probably get a warmer greeting especially given how empty the restaurant was. Regarding the meal, I probably need to try some of their other meals because what I got was just average. The waitress brought us bread and butter to start. The bread had an odd consistency, as it didn't hold together well. It may have been the type of bread, so no biggie. For an appetizer I got the French Onion Soup, which was decent, although I have had better and cheaper French Onion Soup before. For dinner, I got the Pan Seared Scallops (at $46 for four!) and they were in spanish chorizo, corn, lime wedge, cream, cilantro, and serrano chili. I was not a huge fan. I've had much larger and tastier scallops (and cheaper, too) that weren't in such an odd-tasting presentation. The restaurant itself was pretty cool with the clothing of Hollywood Stars from some of their movies in glass cases around the restaurant. The wait staff was very good. I think overall the restaurant has a lot of potential but, in my mind, is way overpriced for what you get. $10 per scallop is pretty ridiculous no matter where you are.
